Fascinating biography of Sharlot Hall, Arizona's Territorial Historian. Although she received some formal education, she was largely self-taught and probably a genius based on the enormous body of literary work she left behind. Her success was largely due to the influence of her mother as her father "...gloried in the innate superiority of the man who had no formal schooling." An attitude that seems prevalent in today's Arizona.
