“What you do to me, you make me lose control,”

Book 6 of the Thickwood series is by the wonderful and talented Tory Baker. As always, I loved both h/H. They were great characters and we get a fantastic storyline on top of it. The story was not rushed and flowed so well.
-no details on either past
-no cheating or abuse
-dual POV
-epilogues at 2 and 5 years
I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review and there it is...fantastic!

And he helps the neighbors with bussiness stores and such thats where he meets Jules who owns a Antiques store with her fur baby Beau. I love the fact Hudson didnt take to long to go after Jules and he already knew what he wanted he wined and dined her played with her fur baby and made each moment between them cute.

Loving the Mountain Man

I'm totally digging Loving The Mountain Man. Hudson and Jules are so beyond perfect for each other. I love that they instantly love each other but Hudson takes the time for them to really get to know each other, no matter how hard Jules tries to change his mind, before having sexy times. An incredibly Happily Ever After!

I love stories where I can see myself as the heroine. Seriously Jules is like my soul sister. We share a love of 80's hair bands, have incredibly spoiled furbabies and love a long haired tattooed man. I connected with her more than I have with any other heroine that I can remember.

I have to mention Beau!! I absolutely LOVE him!! He's an absolutely adorable black French Bulldog that is spoiled beyond belief! Some of his antics had me cracking up and reminding me of my own spoiled furbabies! He was the perfect addition to the story.

Loving The Mountain Man is completely safe and free of any kind of abuse, cheating, or ow/om drama. No others after meeting and there is mention of previous partners for either one.

Tory Baker is a new author for me but after reading this book, I think I'll be looking up more of her books. Loving The Mountain Man was a awesome little story about a guy who moved to Thickwood to get out of the city and a girl who never wanted to leave her small little town. Their connection was wonderful. I loved how protective he was of her and I even liked the slow burn of their relationship. Another good thing was there wasn't any drama of other women or men; it was just about them. Sometimes I like reading that. And Beau just stole my heart!! Wonderful story!!!

This was a super sweet small town town romance with a billionaire recluse tempted by the quirky antique shop owner, super adorable!

I think Beau, Jules' adorable pup really stole the show...he was pampered, spoiled and even had me laughing (Tory wrote about puppy farts omg LOL)

This was a dreamy swoon worthy read and exactly what my heart needed to feel restored. 💙💜

Oh my I love Hudson! He's a man that knows what he wants. Jules. She's independent and loves her shop and her cute little dog. Hudson and Jules have these immediate sparks and I loved how those sparks were able to grow and strengthen throughout the story. They take their time together, sharing moments while getting to know each other. Loved their journey, their story and their heat! Great read!

b>The couple: Hudson and Jules

Romance genre: mountain man
Series: Thickwood, CO
Length: 94 pages

Plot: Jules owns an antique/junk shop in town, and Hudson has just moved to the mountain from New York. He walks into the shop and finds the girl of his dreams. She comes with a store and a dog, but he can be a little less reclusive for this angel.

Commentary: Quick read, sweet, not too much heat. The dialogue is a little simple but the characters were relatable (well, mostly Jules and her dog). Although I do wonder how everyone and their grandma is able to start a successful business when they're only 20.

Previous book in the series: The Mountain Man's Reward
Next book in the series: The Mountain Man's Kitten

An Underwhelming, Disappointing Addition to the Thickwood Series...

As I wrote in earlier reviews of this series, when I first came across the story world of Thickwood Colorado, I wasn't sure about it. I don't normally go for the typical, sugary sweet romances, much preferring darker, edgier, more alpha driven fare. However, initially, the stories were more angsty and action driven. The mountain men in question more deliciously alpha, and just gruff and grumbly enough to hold my attention. That was however, until this book.

This one, "Loving the Mountain Man" by Tory Baker, the sixth installment of the series. And to date, the most vanilla, boring, and uninspired story in the lot.

This one is the story of Hudson, a thirty-nine year old transplant from New York. A former real estate mogul, who left behind the relentless push and pull of his condominium empire to start over in the mountains of Colorado. And in his new small town home he finds Jules. A twenty-six year old, 80's hair band loving, firecracker owner of Jules Junk Shop. A woman secure in herself and in her life, and a woman he is drawn to like a moth to a flame.

What follows is a sweet, but painfully straightforward and predictable story of love. It is essentially a modern day version of a 1950s, new boy in town meets local, popular girl, boy is smitten, asks said girl on a date, they date, they fall in love, etc., etc., etc... And while what Baker writes here is lovely and easy to read. It is superficial, pedestrian, and lacking even the tinest bit of chemistry.

So simplistic is this one, so uninspired and conventional that I'm not at all convinced it will satisfy even the most generously forgiving hea lovers out there fully.

In the end, for me, this sixth foray into Thickwood was a big, disappointing miss. And not at all fitting with the underlying angst filled, trauma fueled theme of the series overall. My final verdict? Pass on this one and enjoy the other more emotionally complex and heartfelt installments in the series.

Ehhhhhhhh nope. Thought the plot sounded pretty cute on this one and yes that part worked, but once again corny unrealistic dialogue got in the way. I seriously think this one would have been better if they were both professional mimes and said nothing all book just pantomimed their feelings instead. Only good part was I’ve been struggling with books with crappy dialogue lately and I finally identified why this wasn’t working for me and it was two main reasons:
1) Main characters repeating each other’s names in every conversation. Envision something like the following scene: “I didn’t mean it like that Hudson.” Followed shortly by “why would you think that Hudson?” Why the fuck do you have to keep saying his name!?! We get it his name is Hudson. I knew that on page one. There are only two characters in these scenes we don’t need to have their names repeated in order to follow who is having this conversation. Good grief!!
2) Equally ridiculous and annoying was the repetitive use of phrases like “It’s so reminiscent of the time period.” I shit you not that phrase was used twice in the span of like 2 pages. What the hell. Number one that phrase doesn’t even make sense in the paragraph it appears in. And Number two no one wanders around spouting that kind of crap unless they are on Antiques Roadshow.

As always Tory has done a great job of creating stories that we can get lost in. Here it is in the form of a older man, younger woman romance. Not usually what I like to read, but honestly I will read anything Tory writes.

So the story centers around Hudson Walker, who is older at 39, who is a successful business man and now wants some quite. So he moved to Thickwood Colorado, bought some land and is enjoying life. Enter Jules Russell who has taken his interest.

Jules Russell is in her mid 20's and owns her own antique store in Thickwwod. She loves what she does and her dog Beau. She knows Hudson because when he comes to town he always stops in and looks around. A friendship starts up. But could this lead to something more?

Loving the Mountain Man is a good old fashioned sweet romance that will leave you with a smile on your face. It did not matter their age difference, as you could tell by their chemistry that they belonged together. A well written story that left a smile on my face.

First things first; I really like the cover of this book!
Loving the mountain man is book six in the ‘’Thick wood co’’ series. This story is short, fast paced and an enjoyable read. I read this book in one sitting and was satisfied throughout. I found the writing style easy to follow, the characters likeable and the storyline enjoyable. Hudson is a millionaire business man that up and left New York for small town Thick wood. Nobody knows anything about him other than he likes to grumble. Jules owns her own business in Thick wood. For a while, Jules and Hudson have played a game of cat and mouse. Will they ever get together?
The chemistry between Jules and Hudson is clear to see and I loved them together. They made a cute couple.
I really liked the ending and the epilogue for this story.
The storyline for this book is easy to follow and it is an enjoyable read.

A wholesome glimpse into a new relationship between people who have had and an eye on each other for a while the standard billionaire loner Hudson , however I enjoyed the fact that this was not used to manipulate his love interest or used to lure Jules, their relationship felt organic. Jules his love interest is an independent small business owner. This focused on their relationship and and the life they will eventually build together.

No backstory shared however their attraction and mutual respect for each other was good enough for me.

Jules had her own desires and articulated them freely.

Enjoyed the fact that Hudson loved all the changes Jules body went through and still desired her.

Two epilogues , Standard.

True chemistry true love

Hudson, he has had it with the city and the rat race type of living. He heads to a small mountain town and settles down with a fixer upper large house. Then he spots her and his world changes, he's found his one and plans his course of action, he will get her. Jules, settled in her own little world of turning ole into new, selling one of a kind things, she knows of the new man in town, hardly sees him since he only comes into town once every two weeks, but she is differently interested. Once the mutual interest is established the building of a relationship starts not just on the chemistry between them but the true love that grows. Throw in a cute dog who approves and a HEA. That is as long as Hudson can handle her 80's music.

So stinking cute! I was having a rough day and I dove into Tory Baker's latest knowing it was the cure. I couldn't have been more right. Jules and Hudson have been eyeing each other for a while but Hudson hadn't made any effort to ask her out. He was waiting for the right time until he couldn't stand it another minute. Jules has a love of hair bands from the eighties and isn't afraid of hard work. After spending a little time together, neither can imagine life apart again. I got some serious Jason Mamoa man bun vibes from Hudson, yum! Another wonderful tale from Ms Baker, please keep them coming. They never fail to put a smile on this reader's face!

Beautiful Story

Hudson has gently watched and waited to enter Jules’ life the way he wants.  He’s offered her help, an easy flirty manner, and so many glances.  And although Jules knows Hudson and his mostly solitude way of life, he’s still the one she longs for.  And finally, finally he makes his move.  He doesn’t so much ask to see her as states it as fact.  That’s all it takes.  This man steals her breath and her heart.  And the way he cares for her fur baby, yeah, he’s the one.

This couple gives all the feels.  Flirty and fun, and they just fit together.  Baker gives us our fairytale and warm fuzzies.

This is a cute novella with a happily ever after.

After moving to Thickwood to escape his busy life in NY he's settled in as a somewhat recluse. He's also known as the town's billionaire who has helped out lots of residents by providing jobs for them to help renovate his newly purchased home. He only makes it into town every couple of weeks but every time he makes sure he sees Jules. He is completely smitten with her. Once he finds out the feelings are mutual he wastes no time making her his.

I loved Hudson and Jules as a couple. A lot of people don't like older man/younger woman, but I do. I think the lure of an older man with his stuff together is sexy, especially if he's an alpha like Hudson. Jules is the sweetest girl with some quirky ways and I absolutely adore that she loves big hair bands. (Raise your hand if it's your guilty pleasure, too!) Love that once Hudson makes up his mind that there is no more waiting, things just fall into place and click for the two of them. Another great read!!!

Lincoln and Presley are both sweet on each other and neither has made a move on the other until the beginning of this story.

This is an instalove tale with no angst, no drama, no jealousy, and no family or friends alienated. Just two people attracted to each other who decide to get to know one another better and then go for it without playing games.

What a refreshing concept!

I enjoyed this "Finding Love" story. It's a fairly quick read that is nicely developed with good and strong characters. Presley and Lincoln are so perfect for each other. He has wanted her since the moment he saw her walk into his bar. He has waited until now to claim her. Presley meets her two best friends out at Maverick's Place on a monthly basis. This time is different. I really enjoyed this sweet and steamy story. I cannot wait for her best friends stories, Lyla and Callie.

I loved this book so much!!! Hudson and Jules were adorable together as was Beau. I can’t wait to read more by Tory. Her books just keep getting better and better. Definitely pick up this book. I can’t wait to read the rest of this series. Hudson is a recluse mountain man who comes out of his shell for Jules. Neither are virgins but this book is completely safe. The epilogues were great. Highly recommend this book.

Tory Baker did a great job on this story. Loving the Mountain Man was a great story, the story was written well, the plot was strong. Hudson and Jules were made for each other. They may have had a few differences but they were good for each other. Their connection was strong and the chemistry between them was sexy and sweet. They were great together. I enjoyed their journey.

Hudson who is a millionaire from New York moved to Colorado to a fixer upper in the mountains. He makes trips into town every few weeks where he has been watching Jules at her antique store and knows she is the one for him but is waiting to make his move. When he does he finds she is as attracted to him as he is to her. This is a short sweet romance with a older man and younger woman.
I received this from the author and this is my honest and unbiased opinion.

I really enjoyed Tory Baker's contribution to the Thickwood series! Jules and Hudson are such a sweet couple. Jules is a young antique shop owner who catches the eye of older billionaire, Hudson. He knows that he wants everything with her, and his care for Jules through the course of their relationship really touched me. Loving the Mountain Man is safe with no talk of their past history or om/ow drama. I will be very sad when the series ends.

Hudson, I Want One Of My Own

So far of all the books, this one is my favorite. A normal type courtship compared to the other Insta love/attraction in the other books. This one flowed so nicely. Jules and Hudson just connected like puzzle pieces. This is a new author and I will be checking into her books. Didn't feel like a wham bam story. I know it was short but didn't feel that way.
