Elvira Lindo is a Spanish journalist and writer.

At the age of 12 Lindo moved to Madrid, where she studied journalism. She did not get her degree, as she began to work in television and radio as a speaker, actress and scriptwriter. Her first novel was based on one of her fictional radio characters, the madrileño boy Manolito Gafotas, who has become a classic of Spanish children's literature. Manolito is the son of a trucker and lives a humble life in the working-class quarter of Carabanchel. The character was the protagonist of several first-person novels written with a solid style that includes humour, irony and sharp social criticism.

Lindo has also written adult novels and plays; she is the screenwriter of the film La primera noche de mi vida, and collaborated with director Miguel Albadalejo on the screenplays for Manolito Gafotas and Ataque verbal. She also adapted the screenplay Plenilunio from the novel by her husband, Antonio Muñoz Molina.

Ever since her husband Muñoz Molina was appointed director of the Instituto Cervantes of New York, Lindo has lived in New York City. She often writes for the Spanish-language newspaper El País, contributing editorials, and writes freelance work for other magazines and newspapers.

In 1998 Lindo was awarded the Premio Nacional de Literatura Infantil y Juvenil (National Award for Children's and Youth Literature) for her book Los trapos sucios de Manolito Gafotas, and she received the Biblioteca Breve (Tiny Library) Award for her adult novel Una palabra tuya.

Entretenido y casual. Como libro se hace un tanto extraño de leer, mas a nivel columna es cuatro estrellas. Evelio un personaje memorable y que alza la narración, se la lleva por los aires. Siento que Elvira escribe de manera fluida. Fresca. Es una escritura fresca. Y me reí ¡Qué más se puede pedir!

Me encanta esta recopilación de artículos. La releo una y otra vez, cuando no tengo ganas de leer otra cosa o cuando estoy de bajona. No es más ni menos que una recopilación de artículos escritos durante los veranos de 2000 a 2004. Obviamente el tiempo ha pasado y hemos avanzado mucho en estos años. Hay que tenerlo en cuenta a la hora de leerlo. Puede parecer que está lleno de “red flags” y es cierto. Pero también está lleno de sentido del humor, ironía y ternura. Elcira Lindo siempre es bien, me apuntaría sin pensarlo a un curso de verano suyo, ojalá la llamen 😉

Divertidísimo, una obra maestra del articulismo disfrutón. Leído hoy del tirón y todavía con la prensa veraniega de 2025 en la cabeza maravilla el doble, no hay un solo artículo que no sea gracioso y exacto, no le sobra una frase ni una coma y siempre es gracioso ¡durante más de 400 páginas! Es un festín, da ganas de regalarlo

Entretenido y divertido. Justo lo que estaba buscando cuando lo compré. Es para irse tomando de tragitos y que dure mucho. Me mandó mucho al Google a buscar términos y personajes españoles que no conocía.
