Review of WANTING MR. CANE
This author never disappoints when it comes to writing a taboo story with intense chemistry and characters you can’t help but fall in love. I took my time reading Mr. Cane because I wanted it to last. It was an angsty read with so much incredible heat! I love CANE!

Kandy has been obsessed with Cane her entire life. Well...since she was nine. Now at eighteen, she can’t seem to contain it any longer. But he’s off limits!

Cane is a thirty five year old, self-made millionaire. He’s hot, tattooed and beyond sexy. His best friend is Kandy’s dad.

Oh the tangled web!!! Sometimes age isn’t the only obstacle. However, the real question is, how much are they willing to risk to be together?

This was a story I didn’t want to finish but couldn’t wait to find out what happened next. A few surprises that I never saw coming, kept me up late into the night. Now the wait begins for book 2! I NEED more of Mr. Cane.

Review of BREAKING MR. CANE
The gripping continuation to Wanting Mr. Cane!

This story picks up right where we left Cane...Derek found out that his best friend was sleeping with is daughter. It all just hit the fan!!

Cane is left with a business that is losing investors because they witnessed the exchange with Derek, his best friend hates him, his ex-girlfriend Kelly is blackmailing him and Kandy has left for college. Cane has a full plate!!!

Kandy knows that her parents are both crushed and disappointed. She's off to college on a scholarship the very next day. She promises herself that she is going to start over. She caves and calls Cane but he's distant and at that point, she decides to get the real college experience.

Cane knows he should stay away and give Kandy the opportunity for a normal college life...be he just can't.

So many obstacles for these two. And that ending....September cannot come soon enough. I need more of this taboo story. It's sexy, so freakin' hot and takes me for an incredible ride every time. I cannot wait to fins out what is going to happen next!!!

Review of LOVING MR. CANE
I could not wait to be re-united with Kandy and Cane and this story did not disappoint. This forbidden romance has become one of my all time favorites.

Their story picks up right where Breaking Mr. Cane left off and I won't be spoiling it for you.

Kandy is struggling to move on and Cane just wants to hang on to her and never let go. If only things were ever easy for them.

Ghosts of the past always seem to find their way back into your life just when it is all coming together.

Candy and Kane share a love that is strong. It overlooks past faults or mistakes and it focuses on the good. It's unstoppable and unbreakable. It transcends time and distance. It's forever love and Happily Ever After. I LOVE THEM!

I adored both Kandy and Cane from their first book. This series continues to engage and excite. I really enjoyed the storyline and never quite knowing what direction the author was going to take me. I look forward to the next chapter of their lives.

What a perfect ending to this forbidden romance. The road to happily ever after was definitely an uphill battle, but the kind of love Kandy and Cane shared was worth it.

The author never disappoints with her stories. I am always invested in these characters. You feel their sadness, disappointments and their triumphs. You wish and hope that they get to live their dreams.

Seeing Kandy reach all her goals and fulfill her dream, was everything and more. Their love was was epic! Cane truly was everything a girl could want.

If you are a fan of romance with an age gap and forbidden love, this is the series for you.

Cane and Kandy had a love hate relationship from the time she was 9 years old. He never treated her differently until she was of legal age but they had a bond that just couldn’t be broken and they knew the shit was gonna hit the fan! Well this cliffy was definitely a cluster!!! Well Shit! Thank God I have the complete series because I would be livid if I had to wait for the third book after that cliffy!!!!!

So Kandy is a mess but in her defense she is railroaded every witch way she turns! God bless her for falling in love with her dads best friend 17 years her senior🤦🏼‍♀️what a freakin cluster!
She goes to college and they turn on her, she comes home and they turn on her, the only person in her corner is Cane!

Cane...wtf is he thinking! I know her loved her, no doubt in my mind. But Jesus!!! He is in quite a mess by the end of this book!
Her parents, well her dad, is just an asshat! One thing I know, having kids this age, is that you have to let them make mistakes on their own. You can talk till your blue in the face but they are adults and have to learn. Derek has got a hard lesson coming!

Kelly is a freakin PSYCHO!! I hope she dies a miserable death!!!

This book wasn’t as good as the first but a solid 4 stars for sure!

I tell you! Cane and his baggage have just about killed me! And bless lil Kandy, she didn’t know whether to shit or go blind! What a position they had gotten themselves into!

The thing is, Kandy knew that Cane was her forever and it took Frankie her best friend to make her see what she needed to do, parents be damned!
She went for it and got it!

This was hot and romantic and the novella was amazing!
I loved this series and will definitely be reading more from this author!! I loved their dynamic and I’m such a sucker for the age gap!

As for the series...TOTAL 5 star read!!!

Wanting Mr. Cane: 5 stars.

Hot damn! Let's all bow down to the queen of hot, forbidden love - Shanora Williams!! I knew way back when I read Daddy Black and his Little Knight's story, Tainted Black, that Shanora had a way of making the taboo, age gap trope something infinitely more beautiful and hotter than ever before. With the release of Wanting Mr. Cane she has truly cemented her reign over this much loved trope.

Kandy was 9 when she first remembered Mr. Cane in her life. Mr. Cane is her daddy's best friend. He's hot. He's obviously older. He's rich. He's tattooed. And he brings her something sweet every time he comes over. What the hell else could a girl ever want in a man? Of course, things don't evolve into something sweeter than candy until she comes of age and morphs into the beautiful young woman she is now at 18. And that's when their dormant passion flares to life, holy shit does it because he's a dirty talking, dominant man in the bedroom and she knows what she wants - him. But, of course in the back of their minds is her father, his best friend, and knowing that what they're doing is wrong and has the potential to kill his relationship with her dad, and ruin both their lives. How can they possibly make something so forbidden work?

"We were a mess. A wild, beautiful, perfect mess, and that made me the happiest girl ever."

And then, then came that crazy af cliffhanger and now I'm anxiously awaiting Breaking Mr. Cane. It really cannot come soon enough for me because I have got to know what happens next for Quinton and Kandy!!

Breaking Mr. Cane: 5 stars.

I thought the cliffhanger at the end of Wanting Mr. Cane killed me, it's got nothing on the the end of Breaking Mr. Cane!!!

At the start of Breaking Mr. Cane, our star-crossed lovers are apart, so very far apart; but still so in love and feeling the after affects of that love. Kandy is attending college and trying to move on. Quinton's company is taking a tumble on the market, and things are completely unsettled. Have no fear, though, because they find their way back to each other and their love is cemented. And I was swooning and dying because these two, they're fire, serious fire. They just might have as much a place in my heart as Theo and his Little Knight (Tainted Black) but shhhh don't tell Theo and Chloe that! But then that crazy cliffhanger happened and now I'm definitely dying because I must, MUST KNOW what happens next, stat, like RIGHT NOW!!

Loving Mr. Cane: 5 stars.

When Loving Mr. Cane begins, they're all dealing with the devastating events at the end of Breaking Mr. Cane. Derek is extremely unhappy with both Cane and Kandy, and warns her off Kane "Because I know who he is, I know where he came from." If that isn't an ominous sign, I don't know what is. And Kandy begins to realize how little she really knows Cane. But, have no fear, because Kandy and Cane are meant to be, their kind of love cannot be denied. It can be put off for awhile perhaps, but they can't be kept from each other forever. When they are allowed to finally be together, talk about another roller coaster! But I loved it when they were together. They finally got to be a real couple.

Things aren't easy for Kandy Cane, though, because of course not. That wouldn't be any fun if they had things easy. And honestly? I doubt their lives together will ever be easy. Easier maybe, but not easy, because age gap couples, especially ones where the man is the former best friend of the woman's father? Yeah, not an easy thing to ever deal with. But, that's OK, because these two have a love for the ages, and they make it work. I won't spoil and say what happens to them, just know that someone from Cane's past comes back and is there, so there for him, for both of them. Some things are resolved, and they get a huge win.

Being Mrs. Cane: 5 stars.

I've said it before but I'll reiterate, Shanora Williams is truly the Queen of forbidden, taboo romance. But in the Cane series, she's taken taboo and forbidden, and given it a fully realized, fully drawn, epic feel spanning years so that when Kandy Cane reach their final stage on the way to forever, they're ready, more than ready, to take on whatever may come their way. When I started the journey of of Kandy Jennings and Quinton Cane, I was hooked from the very first page. I've read their struggles, their highs and lows, and through it all, their loves has managed to not just survive, but flourish. And here in Being Mrs. Cane, they finally get the happily ever after they've worked so hard to obtain. But, Shanora is nothing if not willing to torture her fans, so she doesn't make things too easy for our couple. Nope, of course not!

"Remember when I said if there was too much peace in my life, a storm would always come rolling by?"

Have no fear, though, because there is truly a beautiful, happy ending for Quinton and Kandy, they just have to fight to get to it. And when they get to that point? Beautiful, just beautiful. Quinton and Kandy have truly cemented a permanent place in my heart as one of my favorite book couples, ever. And Being Mrs. Cane is the perfect way to give this amazing couple what they've fought so hard for - forever.

This series is a deliciously tempting, a truly must read series that hits all the forbidden taboo notes!! As only Shanora Williams does, there are twists, turns, heat, drama, angst, cliffhangers, those feels like only Shanora does it, passion, romance and HEA. To give you an example, here is book 2 review to give you insight of how amazing this series is!!


BREAKING MR. CANE by Shanora Williams is book 2 in the Cane series. This continues the story of Kandy and Cane. You must read book 1 before reading book 2. This picks up with Kandy starting her new life at college and with Cane trying to deal with the aftermath of their taboo red-hot relationship. You see how neither can forget each other and how they are wanting to be with the other but cant and how it is affecting them. We also get to see how Kandy has matured in this book. She isn’t all about her wants and needs as she was in book 1 and really has a good head on her shoulders in book 2. Cane is still as sexy in book 2 and is dealing with a lot on his shoulders . This couple are having to fight for their love and prove to people that they are meant to be together. In this book, we meet some new characters and get to see some characters that are so disliked that I want to know when they will go away for good ( hint hint Kelly) and yes Kelly is still bat nuts crazy. I am as hooked on book 2 as I was on book 1 and this hook had as many if not more, twists and turns and ended on one heck of a HUGE Cliffhanger that literally stole almost all my breath. I can’t wait for part 3 in September. Kandy and Cane make up one fabulous couple and I cant wait to see what is up next for them in their taboo love story.

There were only two states of being for me while I read this series: anxiously freaked out, or relieved and content (possibly with a dash of “Oh come on!” in there as well).
A quote from one of the books that the main character Kandy says that I think sums everything up pretty well is: “but of course, happiness never seems to last long in my world.”
Cane and Kandy deserved love and a happy ending together and they got one thank god, but wow did they have to work for it. (Side note his last name is Cane and her first name is Kandy so she’s... Kandy Cane. I thought it was adorable).
This is an age gap, forbidden romance between Kandy and her dad’s best friend, Cane. It’s fun, it’s sexy, it’s got a lot of drama.
Sometimes certain drama seemed unnecessary with plot complications being mentioned but never amounting to as much as I thought they would. Some of those issues were just kind of there hanging out the background waiting to make life terrible for Kandy and Cane for what felt like forever leaving me worried. It was more of the fear of fear than anything to actually fear. Although, don’t get me wrong, some bad things definitely go down, and it made me so angry. Ultimately, I was happy and satisfied with the ending, and the result of Kandy and Cane’s journey.
This series could be really frustrating at times, but overall was addicting and definitely worth the read

1. Eighteen year old Kandy behaved more like a 13 year old. 🙄
2. This book was SO unrealistic. Cane told Kandy that she belonged to him and she had to break up with her bf. When he brought Kelly on vacation after promising that he wouldn't, Kandy wasn't even upset. Kandy would have been bitterly jealous of Kelly and she would have been furious that he broke his word to her! Also, there was no way that an immature 18 year old girl would have become friends with the girlfriend of the guy she was hooking up with.
3. Cane said, "... I'm not into BDSM." But then he said, "I like giving orders. Pushing and testing limits. I love the mixture of pain and pleasure ..." That IS BDSM. 🙄🙄🙄 Plus, all the sex scenes I read after that were completely vanilla anyway.
4. "The back of your head was split." Seriously? Is that the proper medical terminology? 🙄🙄
5. If Cane really did have a letter from his father that spelled out illegal things that Cane had done in his business, I don't think he would have left it laying around for someone to find. 🙄🙄🙄

I give the series one star ONLY BECAUSE it made me read again after almost a year of not being able to go past a few lines.
The good ends here, unfortunately.

I read the books last spring so I don’t recall every detail. But boy, I got a bone to pick with the author.

First of all, if I remember it correctly, Cane met Kandy when she was a child/teen, and he was pretty much present in her life since then. Which, you know, considering how their relationship develops further, raises a brow, to say the least.
And I myself am a sucker for an age gap romance, but that’s just… predatory behavior.

And then the very character of Cane is just an obnoxious man child. I get the whole traumatic past life and stuff, bad-boyish type of guy, rule breaker, etc. But he just is insufferable, honestly.

Kandy is not better, but at least her excuse can be the age of the character. But still…

The only person who I felt sympathetic towards was her best friend (can’t remember her name now), but poor girl got so much stuff going on, this forbidden feelings for her step(?)brother, death of mom, all sort of struggle AND being always left out by your best friend, who just never supports you? Foul character writing, imo. She only appears in the story when Kandy needs her and that’s it.

The pregnancy arc was just… I didn’t like the way it was executed at all, all these suffering that never seems to end for Kandy.

I also remember how I didn’t even realize Kandy was supposed to be black or mixed, because it was like never mentioned, UNTIL it was thrown there to give her dad this traumatic past as well.

And the way the author couldn’t remember Kandy’s birthday and it was two different dates mentioned in the span of one book.

Bad writing, awful characters, the smut part wasn’t good also, the plot was meh.

So, all in all, one is too high of a number, but, as I said, the books revived my passion for reading so I got to give them that.

I binged read this 4 book set. Even though I enjoyed some parts more than others I couldn't put it down, it had my heart pounding the entire time.

Major TW for violence, abuse, fertility issues, miscarriage, drug and alcohol abuse, drug trafficking (throughout the entire series).

This novel definitely was a lot to digest. This was a smoldering hot and illicit romance between a young woman and her dad’s best friend- with a 17 year age gap! It is not a light fluffy read and it will take you on an unforgettable journey of emotion, endless love, passion, and angst.

Kandy is the naïve but feisty and spunky girl obsessed with Mr. Cane, she's lusted after him forever, when she turns 18 she goes after him. Cane is the successful, sexy, domineering alpha male with A LOT OF baggage. He resists at first but he can't get her out of his head and finally caves.

"She was light in my darkness, the calm to my storm. The bliss and ecstasy that I'd slowly became addicted to."

What follows is a roller coaster of emotions, the story is packed with action, plot twists galore, difficulties and more difficulties, and then some more. It was exhilarating. I was pretty surprised by this book, when I first started reading I thought it would be a much lighter read.

I do recommend and I wanna read more from this author.

Wanting, Breaking, Loving, Being!

Such a beautiful age-gap romance, very warming and thought provoking. Well written and intricately woven storyline. What Kandy wanted, she knew she couldn’t have, in her heart and mind, she knew, was forbidden, being naive didn’t stop her, but the heart wanted, what the heart wanted, and what she wanted was Cane, he knew it too, and in the end they couldn’t deny the inevitable.

Denying there attraction to one another was hard, but when they came together it was electrifying. The way they loved each other, there relationship forbidden, there love provocative, the romance heartwarming and beautiful, there love so passionate, they desire each other above all else, defying those who would get in there way.

The truths, the lies, that lead to the past colliding with the present, the emotional turmoil that Kandy and Cane experienced was raw as it was powerful, it was fast paced, exhilarating, the twists and turns, how they tested each other’s resolves before finally giving into their desires.

And those bedroom scenes were very intimate, hot, raw, powerful, passionate, deliciously dirty, oh so steamy, wicked, beautiful, hot, wet and wild, and there happily every after was heartbreakingly beautiful. This author knows how to write and have her readers coming back for more!

Cane - which is his last name - is best friends with Derek and Middy Jennings, and Kandy is their daughter. At the age of 18, Kandy decides that she is going to stop fighting her feelings for Cane and just go for it. She knows that regardless she will be going to school in the fall and figures why the hell not. Unfortunately, Cane is not only her dad’s best friend but is also 17 years older and has only seen Kandy as his best friend’s kid.

Kandy is unapologetically herself and doesn’t care what others may think of the situation. Cane has so much to lose but is willing to put it all on the line for her.

The Cane series was a breath of fresh air from my usual reads. We get some steam with A+ dirty talk. While it is still a taboo - Dad’s Best Friend - the overall tone is sweet. There was the perfect amount of drama, even though I felt like some aspects were rushed. Each book averages about 260 pages, which I read through quickly

This series is super sexy and very fun. I read all 3 of them in the release of the KU bind up.

This is a taboo Age Gap. It is Dad's Best Friend romance. Its dark and so steamy!! I absolutely love when a younger woman tempts a man into feelings. I really enjoyed Cane's inner dialogue and struggle to not lose his friendship with Kandy's father. Someone who saved him as a young man and helped him to get his life on track. But he just can't resist his Kandy Cane.

One thing that I'm not a fan of is the secondary story line in this one. I wish it was either more developed or not a thing.

Also, there were fun Dominance moments but then they didn't really develop into anything. As soon as the characters were in love they didn't "need" it anymore. I just don't buy that. I think it only gets sexier the more you can trust someone.

But I give the first 2 novels 4.5 stars, and the last novel and the novella 4 stars

Absolutely Loved the Cane Series

This is the second series I’ve read from Shanora and I was not disappointed. I first read the Ward Series after a recommendation from Amazon Australia and I’m so glad I’ve found this new author to me. After reading the Ward Series which was raw, real and gritty I was looking for more. Shanora writes about real life, she gets right in there and says it like it is. These two were destined to be together but it wasn’t always happily ever after, like all of us do in life they were faced with trials, good and bad, ups and downs but throughout they held on to each other and made the hard calls no matter what others thought of their decisions. I thoroughly recommend this series and this author. You won’t be disappointed.

This whole series had me in shambles, I couldn't think straight after ending this series, I loved the characters so much that I felt like I could embed myself in this series as I continued on with each book.

Ms. Shanora Williams knows how to write a well crafted book (series) with her hero's being much older than her heroine's and I love that about this author. A forbidden romance always catches my eye and I know, without a shadow of a doubt, that I will rank it at the top of my reads for the year and The Cane Series was definitely a fav of mine.

This was too long of a series
Book 1 was good - great in fact but then the rest of the series had too much going on.
In the end I couldnt get passed that this child (19 year old) was with this older man (36) who was nothing but trouble
I didnt like the rif that it caused with her parents who had this only child and had to watch her go through all that she was going through because of this guy - getting stripped of her scholarship, getting stabbed by an ex, never being able to have babies, having a gun held to her head! Way to much! Abandoned it at 80%

Great Book Series

I have loved this series and Cane & Kandy are such a great couple. Cane sounds like one of the sexiest men I have read about but he has a dark past that comes back to bite them more than once. Their love for each other could ruin her family and his business but they take that chance and roll with it. I really enjoyed this book and I would recommend to anyone who likes romance and HEA with a bit of trauma & heartbreak thrown in.

Kandy Cane, forbidden love or destined love?

I loved this series! Every bit of it had me hooked from beginning to end. This is an age gap romance that had lusty start until they get caught then things spiraled for Cane and Kandy, but they both fought through it all with crazy exes, jealous friends, Kandy's family, etc. coming at them to tear them apart or lose one another. This ends with a beautiful HEA. I give this book 5 cups of scalding java, ☕☕☕☕☕.

Wanting Quinton Cane

Kandy had her eye on the prize, or the right man since she was a young girl. This kept me reading and totally entertained for three straight days. They had every reason and excuse in the world not to be together. But she stayed the course and chose him. Here we read as a young girl grows into a woman. She learns that life gives consequences for her actions. Love’s path is definitely rocky. The HEA is oh so worth the read.

I went into this book thinking it would be all about sexual tension and age gap angst. Turns out, there is mafia stuff too. I loved the meeting between h and H; while reading I was super excited for the rest of the book but my excitement dwindle after that scene. Because I felt the story went downhill from there. Througout the story, I felt like Cane wasn’t the man I met in the 1st scene with the h?

Love this story

What can I say about this story, My mouth was wide open and I was either yelling at kandy or felt sorry for her. I was like was this relationship worth it and yes it was for the both of them. I know I'm late reading this book and highy recommend this book every penny is worth it.

Loved the forbidden aspects of the story! The storyline was great on how the characters found each other and grew together. Only downside the conflict between Kandy and her parents was drown out, and felt that some of the other conflicts of the story could have been handled differently, like the characters were a bit immature about it.
Overall Kandy and Cane were hot!!

Loved Mr Cane and his Kandy Cane

I loved the twist and turns and the struggles. The fought for their love. The heart loves what the heart loves, even if everyone thinks it is wrong. You can’t just meet someone that will pull you out of that kind of love. That love can only go to one person regardless of age, race or circumstances.

This series was NOT for me. Multiple times I wanted to DNF, but I kept pushing through. Kandy frustrated me a lot. If I were her friend or parent, I would have given up on her, and called her stupid, and to stop using me. She was so naively obsessed with Cane. All while he isn't worth it. Maybe his money but at what cost.

I absolutely couldn’t put this series down!! I had to know how Kandy and Cane’s story would unfold.

This is an age gap/ father’s best friend story. The series spans thirteen plus years. If you enjoy these types of stories, definitely 1-click!!

I loved this series. I loved the way everything wrapped up. I'm actually mad it ended.. I'm going to miss the the Jenning's and the Cane's. Now what am I suppose to read that will keep me up all night lol. Uggh.

Wow

This series had so many ups and downs, it was a roller coaster. I did love watching Q and Kandy grow together and fall in love. I could have done without some of the drama - they probably could, too!! - but it was a happy ending that made it all worth it.

Wow! This book is really good! A beautiful story, well written. I enjoyed it from beginning to end! I finished it in 2 and a half days, I could barely put it down! Very pleasantly surprised and I will definitely read more books by this author! ♥️
