Four powerful inmates have taken over the prison and a few unlikely heroes must work together to save the day.
The world has forever changed for the warden’s newest recruits. They are now part of an underground operation that houses, contains, and safeguards the world from dangerous supernatural beings.
They have seen the night creatures, vampires with a lust for blood. They have become intimately familiar with the beasts of the full moon. They have witnessed the parasitic doppelgangers that mock them with familiar faces. They have even resisted the temptations of the seducers.
However, there are still two floors in the prison left to be explored. Just thinking about them puts the warden on edge. Even the guards only dare whisper about the prisoners that inhabit these floors.

Felicia Jedlicka writes immersive fantasy and science fiction that blends strange worlds with deeply human characters. Known for crafting character-driven stories with escalating stakes, Felicia weaves complex relationships, moral dilemmas, and epic confrontations into every book.
Felicia's work centers on the people at the heart of the chaos, whether it's a book about a top-secret prison, witches performing exorcisms, or the unraveling of galactic alliances. Her prose is straightforward and infused with a sharp, elegant wit that pushes her story forward without stealing the stage.
Another wonderful read. This was needed to add depth to the fantasy of two powerful people in a good but dangerous situation. Now the story continues with more excitement, I hope.
One of my biggest frustrations with this series is that, despite it being my favorite, it has a limited audience. Part of this is because Book #1 Successors is almost like an information dump. There is so much to get to know about the prison that there is hardly time to get these two characters into serious trouble. However, in book 2, Cori has an opportunity to change that. A prison break gives her a chance to let her bad instincts and dumb luck run wild.
In book 2, Cori and Ethan develop a petty feud tainted by their attraction toward each other. When Ethan has an opportunity to work outside the prison, Cori is left to play the solo role of successor as he once had.
Unfortunately, Cori's application to the wardenship has come to the attention of the board. When a paper-pushing bureaucrat shows up to evaluate her skills, the most dangerous inmates in the prison decide to put on a show for him. With Ethan gone, Danato captured, and Belus incapacitated, it is up to Cori to save the day. Assuming she can survive that long.
