i’m finally “reviewing” this (idrk how to review i just saw what i think lmao)
anyways, remus and sirius’ characterization was really accurate to what i think of them, and remus being sick and in the hospital is a nice touch bc, you know, he’s a werewolf. i wish i saw more of lily bc i love her, and pete made me laugh because yes he’s sassy 🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️ anyways the ending was so wholesome THEY MOVED IN TOGETHER god the marauders are my roman empires. also i’m glad that regulus wasn’t a villain to sirius bc they both went through hard times in Grimmauld so that also made me happy. ok i’m done now :)

Reasons why this deserved five stars:
1. wolfstar obviously
2. author's creative and amazing writing, especially Padfoot's dialogs

DNF. With some difficulty I made it to chapter 7. Not to say that this isn't cute and all, but even though this is a Sirius/Remus fic it reads like one stranger's very lengthy, very gently flowing WhatsApp convo with another stranger, and both strangers are innocent 17 year old boys. I much prefer my own WhatsApp convos (or Taylorpotatato's similar attempts Ain't Sayin' He's a Gold Digger and All's Fair in Love and Videogames). Still, it's an enormously popular fic, so there you go.

When my friend said she was reading this, I thought it sounded too distant from Harry Potter canon to appeal – a Remus/Sirius fanfic where there's no magic, instead of being a werewolf Remus is hospitalized with a chronic illness, and the story is told through their text messages when they meet via a wrong number?!

But I started reading and it immediately took me back to my tweenage days of wearing Marauder Era fanfiction. I was charmed immediately by the nostalgia factor and then wrapped up in watching such a sweet romance unfold between these two kind, awkward, cool-but-insecure teen boys who are figuring out their sexuality. These two boys are just so good. And they (like nearly all the characters!) treat each other so gently and respectfully. Sometimes it's fun to just read about a bunch of good people, especially with the added gift of references to Harry Potter and the Wizarding World.

The story could've been much shorter (it's 500+ pages!) and it reads like a self-published, unedited fanfic (which it is!). But it's also cute and tender and strangely compelling.

This my friends, is what you call a masterpiece.
I loved this so freaking much, no other book has made me laugh so hard. Wolfstar was so adorable, I was swooning the entire time and crying with joy for them!
I also highlighted a TON of passages cause this book is that highlight worthy! Definitely will be reading it again, I'm so happy a friend suggested this! Haven't laughed this much in weeks!

it's almost exclusively told via text messages - luckily the author is excellent at writing dialogue. the fic has its lengths, but overall a sweet and unconventional fic for the holidays
