The Outdoor Exploration Club continues its excursion in Izu! Between walking up Mount Omuro, seeing capybaras bathing in a hot spring, and cooking up some spiny lobster, the girls have plenty more to enjoy. But there's also something extra-special about this camping trip: Nadeshiko's and Inuko's birthdays! Can the rest of the OEC successfully pull off a surprise party, or is the secret already out...?

I run hot and cold on this series. This volume is the second half of a two-part sightseeing trip to the Izu Peninsula in Japan. Nothing much happens aside from taking in the sights, and the five or six girls on the trip are nearly impossible to tell apart in either physical appearance or their personalities. Frankly, loner Rin Shima is the only thing that brings me back time and again. The rest of the cast should just be phased out.

The Outdoor Exploration Club finishes up their 2 night camping/sightseeing trip to Izu.

More vicarious touring of real spots in Izu, as well as lots of cooking with the group that was both informative and entertaining. They also try and pull off a surprise party for the 2 birthday girls on the trip (with mixed results). At the end of the book are a couple of short comics featuring the girls of the OEC, and most of these are humorous. These young ladies feel very realistic, even with their various quirky personalities. I like the way the series introduces readers to natural settings around Japan.

Notes on content: No language issues. No sexual content. No violence. Their teacher supervisor gets a little bit of a drink (but the girls cut her off at a certain point knowing her issues with acohol, and her sister is helping keep her accountable too).

Rin continues solo camping as the second half of Izu Camp trip! I almost then wrote...well that's about it but decided to give a tad more. Cooking and drinking and of course conversing all takes place in this volume. I continue to be impressed with how cold is displayed in this series as I truly feel it in my bones as I read. These very trips are slowly shaping the individual characters is noticeable ways, which is the purpose of any journey...but the pace in which it is done in this series is very believable. I think an underappreciated aspect of this, and the previous volume is the lens in which Afro (creators) shows us some views. "Fishbowl lens effect" is what it is sometimes called when you see a certain view through the lens. Some scenes with that are cool and done so well it is easy to take for granted.

The second half of the Izu Camp and it has everything what makes this series so special. A short solo trip with Rin, funny character interaction, delicious food and great drawings of the Izu region. In some moment we see how the characters evolved over time. For example Rin who felt a bit lonely at the end, Ena who got inspired by their camping trips to explore more places with Chikuwa or Nadeshiko's growing cooking skills. For me it is nice to see how their camping trips are having an impact on their character and how they are growing over time

Besides having a bit of trouble remembering all of the characters’ names because they are all wearing so many clothes haha everything about this name was just lovely.

I really enjoyed the conclusion of the Izu camping trip. All the food looked so good, sensei behaved herself, and the capybara hot springs was hilarious. Even if I thought it might be closed when they got there…

The second half of the OEC's March multi-day camping trip to Izu. Featuring more amazing locations and food, zombies (what?), a birthday party, capybaras (YAS!), and lastly, the bittersweet feeling of returning home after a fun adventure with friends.

And the trip to Izu comes to an end in this volume!

I've really liked how much they show of Izu, and I wonder if and how Afro went through the research process to be able to do all of it...

Biggest revelation, they actually met the Capybaras animals and go to a zoo which they did not do in the anime adaptation, so that was a nice surprise
