A fake marriage is the answer to their problems, but love was never part of the deal.
Augustus “Gus” Schultz has always been the black sheep of the family, and he’s earned that label with his playboy ways. His greatest desire is to prove to his father that he’s put all that behind him and is worthy of taking on a bigger role at Schultz Chocolate. But when he’s asked to step away from the company for appearances’ sake, he must devise a plan to convince everyone he’s changed.
Merritt Christiansen loves helping women feel pretty and confident, and her dream of taking her safe, organic cosmetics line global is about to come true. Until she doesn’t secure the capital she was hoping for and is forced to consider a crazy alternative.
Gus thinks his proposal is ingenious. A fake marriage contract with Merritt, who is brilliant and respectable—not to mention beautiful—will demonstrate his ability to commit and fit in with the company’s wholesome image. Merritt thinks he’s lost his mind, especially since they can’t stand each other. But how can she refuse when he offers to fund her business expansion as part of the terms of their marriage? And if pretend crosses the line to real, how will they come away with hearts unscathed?
Krista Noorman is the author of sweet romance, contemporary Christian romance, and young adult novels. She's a small-town Michigan girl, who is constantly inspired by books and movies, enjoys beautiful Instagram feeds, and loves a good peppermint mocha.
After college at Cornerstone University, four years as a military wife, and starting a family, she turned to her love of photography and spent nearly a decade running her own wedding photography business. For most of her life, she scribbled away in journals while documenting her everyday life, but it wasn't until she took part in National Novel Writing Month, that she found her true calling and turned her pen to fiction. She's been writing about falling in love ever since.
This was a great fake marriage story! Gus and Merritt were certainly not fond of each other at the beginning of the book and both seemed to have tempers that ignited quickly toward each other. I was happy that these reactions to each other transformed into a willingness to make the best of their marriage of convenience.
The way the relationship grew from two people living under the same roof, to a partnership, and then into a friendship was really nice. Then, when feelings of friendship began to grow into feelings that were much deeper for both of them, the story developed some truly swoon worthy scenes.
I really enjoyed the way these characters grew better together. Gus and Merritt were so good for each other. There was great chemistry between them and I loved seeing how both of them related to Gus’ family as they spent time with them.
I also really liked the first book in the series, Not the Billionaire, however, I loved this one even more! If you haven’t read the first book, you can still jump in and enjoy reading Who Needs a Billionaire.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
Eeeek! I cannot say enough good things about this one! I refuse to apologize for my love for fake-dater stories. Who Needs a Billionaire fits ALL of those reasons why I adore this troupe so much. It’s sweet. It’s romantic. It’s fun to watch them navigate a relationship that isn’t real. And it -insert happy sigh- never gets old watching two people who have little in common and can barely get along fall head-over-heels in love with one another.
Who Needs a Billionaire is my new favorite from Noorman. And it just happens to be available at a special pre-order price. It’s a 5 star novel from me, and one I couldn’t put down.
Recommendations: I recommend it to those looking for clean fiction. It was clean but did not have any spiritual content. I didn’t find the romance to be too strong but a much younger or more conservative audience might not be as comfortable.
After reading book #1 of the series I was hoping for a book 2 with Gus. I was hoping he'd get his own redemption story. The author brought out his potential even back then. This is a fun & relaxing story to read. This had a couple different tropes or themes (enemies to lovers, billionaire & redemption/forgiveness) & I thought it was done well. It took me a bit to warm up to Merritt. I liked her but at first I felt she was a bit stubborn or relentless in her strong dislike & picking fights with him. Though to be fair I did some reflection and thought "yep, I could probably see myself doing some of that, lol" I liked that it was a clean romance. A few mild suggestive comments or innuendos. It's a billionaire story but it's not over the top or flashy. I think Krista Noorman makes characters you that feel true to life. There were some nice swoony moments especially the ending. This left me very excited to read the sister's story.
This book series is excellent. Looking forwarded to reading the next book in the series. Love is sometimes found when one does not expect it. Honestly friendship commitment partnership and faith is a foundation to finding true love
A brilliant second book in the author's Billionaire for Every Season series. The strong characters, great plot, and witty dialogue had me engrossed from the beginning, right to their HEA at the end.
I loved reading about Gus and Merritt falling in love - two people who could not stand each other at first. With a fake marriage thrown in, it meant things got complicated when those feelings of love materialized. It was fun seeing Gus change his playboy ways and mature into a more lovable character, and I loved that Merritt was a strong, independent businesswoman.
If you like a clean fun book to read without foul language this book is for you. Truly enjoyed reading this book and can’t wait to read the other book. I have found me a new author.
I haven't read this author before but I must say I read this in a couple hours straight through. So for sheer entertainment factor this deserves at least 4 stars. Augustus, the Hero, drove me nuts a little. He kept saying he changed but I wanted his actions to show me he changed. Also, there is a slight plot error in the story where they are already living together in the fancy house, but the Heroine talked about going home to their apartment. Not a big deal, but just a small plot issue. I would have liked a little more development with the Heroine. There was a lot of potential there with her background but her parents get kind of a bad wrap and that's it. I felt like there was a lot left hanging with her family.
Content: Clean. There's some innuendo Language: Clean Religious: No. There is talk of people having faith but that's it.
This is an enemies-to-lovers to classic fake marriage story.
The writing is engaging, and it has some amusing moments, but it's a little weak in the setup as Merritt & Gus squabble like children - which is certainly possible for 2 adults to do, we all have our moments - but it's virtually all negative interactions between the two, so it makes Gus's idea & proposal appear pretty unlikely.
Still, the idea that he enjoyed the teasing, provocative interactions they had at least helped lend some support for it. I've actually known some guys like that.
Gus has some serious maturing to do, and with Merritt's help, he does. I did enjoy the positive depiction of the family bonds & values as well. It's an enjoyable story.
*Clean romance level: passionate kisses, some suggestive joking, but nothing graphic
Well written with great characters and an intense storyline, Merritt and Gus are opposites but there’s a saying, opposites attract . We follow them through lies and deceptions from a crazy proposition that turns their life’s upside down. They have great chemistry together and you will fall in love with the rest of the family. You will laugh and cry, a wonderful rollercoaster of emotions. I highly recommended it.
Who Needs a Billionaire began a little slowly. I wasn’t sure I’d like it. But it picked up speed quickly and I didn’t want to put it down. Gus and Merritt’s story is fun and flirty. I liked how their relationship grew. I like that Gus finally felt accepted. And the ending was perfect.
Gus has been the billionaire perennial goof up; Merritt grew up poor, but determined. He's trying to show his family that he's changed; she wants to grow her cosmetics company. They can't stand each other, but will that change? A fun romance complete with misunderstandings galore. Thanks Krista, a good read while in quarantine.
I could not have loved this book any more! I'm so thankful you wrote this one! I loved Sebastian but hated what the family did to Gus Especially since his last bout of trouble was to protect Sky. His fake marriage idea was a bit misguided but it was an amazing book. Thanks so much for his story ! looking forward to Sky's next!
When Gus first meets Merritt it doesn't go very well. She had just hit him with her car. He doesn't take that at all and tells her when he thinks. Then he offers her what she needs of she married him for his family. What starts at as a marriage of convience works into something else.
Krista Noorman tells great stories with believable characters. I like this series because the most of the characters were in the previous book and will probably be in the next one. It can be read as a stand alone but I will continue to read them in order
Gus and Mer had a unusual first meeting. He said she hit him with her car. She believes it did not happen. When the official meet at a dinner party, she's not impressed with him.
What a great book! I loved Gus from the first book and my heart broke for him in this book. Merritt was perfect for him, she showed him what a good man he is. I am excited to read the rest of this series.
