Left with amnesia after he was attacked and the heiress with him kidnapped, Gray Michaelson has no clue why he’s in North Carolina. As the only witness, Sergeant Catriona Baker could be the answer to everything—if they can put the pieces together in time. But one thing is clear: the abductors will kill whomever stands in their way…and Cat is their next target.
Karen Kirst was born and raised in East Tennessee near the Great Smoky Mountains. A lifelong lover of books, it wasn't until after college that she had the grand idea to write one herself. The pursuit of her dream would take longer than she first anticipated...years, in fact. In the fall of 2010, she got the happy news that Harlequin Love Inspired Historical wanted to publish her manuscript-a true blessing from God. Now she divides her time between being a wife, homeschooling mom, and romance writer. She enjoys reading, hosting tea parties and spending time with friends.
Unputdownable from the get go. Love the way Kirst catapults her readers right into the fray on the very first page. And she brings a unique twist to the amnesia trope that gives a sharper edge to the suspense. All kinds of page-turning, eyeball-hopping goodness here. There's great pacing between action scenes and intrepid investigating, including some startling revelations that had me gasping out loud. And the way the author weaves faith and romance into the mix as well makes Forgotten Secrets a compelling, read-in-one-sitting kind of suspense .
My review today is one the Love Inspired Suspense, Forgotten Secrets. I really enjoy Karen's work. This is a great read. This story is well written, full of drama, and action packed. Faith is woven into the book like a fine tapestry. I know you are going to love it.
Marine Sergeant Catriona Baker is out on her porch when she hears gun shots. As she watches a woman is abducted and the man with her is hit with a crowbar. The car pulls off. She grabs her gun and goes to the scene. The last time she got involved in someone else mess it nearly destroyed her but couldn't not help. She found a dead man and one who was wounded. She used his phone to call for help then followed him to the hospital.
Gary Michaelson is hit over the head with a crowbar. He can't remember what had happened to him. He wakes up in a hospital asking for the witness. He asks her to tell him what she had observed. When he is released he goes to Cat's home begging for answers. While she feeds him a call comes through telling him he must tell his boss to get 5 million dollars or his daughter dies.
A journey to find the kidnappers and keep each other safe as Cat soon becomes a target. God has a plan for these two, a plan for a hope and a future. God has a plan for you too, a good plan and not for evil. Even in times like these God can make a way where there seems to be no way. Give Him your heart let Him take over your life, He will turn your life around.
Karen hits another book out of the park with Forgotten Secrets! I have never read a book from her I haven't loved & enjoyed! This one was no different! Forgotten Secrets is the last in the military miniseries series & before you ask, you don't have to read the other books for this one to make sense, but, I would highly suggest reading them because they are all wonderful! Gray Michaelson & Catriona Baker are the main characters in this story. This was an exciting read full of action at every turn. I couldn't put it down and even kept postponing housework that needed to be done, just so I could finish the book!! I would highly recommend this book (and series!) & I give it 5 stars!
This was such an unexpected and amazing story. Nothing like I expected from the beginning of the book. Its a truly remarkable storyline about God having A good outcome when man means it for evil. Redemption and forgiveness like in this story aren't make believe- they are real and only with the Grace of God are possible. Man cannot truly forgive or forget unless God is in their hearts. It is in a way a very true story win this book with characters representing what God can do for anyone who believes and accepts him. Thank you for writing a wonderful book to remind us about God's grace.
I love this book because it's so full of mystery, suspense and a lot of action! Gray and Catriona's story is a page turner from the beginning to the very end. And even with Gray's amnesia, he still remembers to protect and learn to believe in the Lord. It's definitely a great read that I recommend for anyone who loves reading suspense books.

I love stories where one of the characters have amnesia. I always think about what it would be like to start over with no baggage or hindrances from the past. Unfortunately, our male protagonist does not have the option of starting again with a clean slate. He needs what he has forgotten to save Bianca’s life. Our female protagonist, Catriona, stumbles across this injured man, and is determined to keep away. God, however, has other plans for his frightened daughter. A fun read and a wild ride from the start. What I do find unusual in this book is the number of people who were murdered; not at all what I expected from a Love Inspired book. Much more realistic, many more adult issues, and a stronger reason for acting on and trusting one’s faith.
This is a really good book. A little slow compared to some I've read. It didn't leave my heart pounding in my chest due to the danger the characters faced. It could be due to the descriptions the author used.
I love this book full of mystery and lots of action! Gray and Cat's story is a page turner from the beginning. Even with Gray's amnesia, he still remembers to lean on the Lord. Highly recommend!
Always enjoy a book that starts out good right at the start. This was the first book I read by this author and what a great read. This book was in a box of books my daughter gave me to read.
Catriona Baker, a military police officer, sees a man shot and a young girl abducted. Rushing to the scene, she finds an injured man suffering from amnesia.
Gray Michaelson, a private security guard, has no idea who he is or why he is in town. After he is released from the hospital, Gray searches for his rescuer, hoping she can help him.
Forgotten Secrets is the fourth and final book in Karen Kirst's romantic suspense series of Marine heroes stationed in North Carolina. Being from the Carolinas, I always enjoy reading about familiar places and the author did a great job describing the setting as well as military life. Ms. Kirst brought out a surprisingly different side to Catriona than we met in Book 3, which made her and Gray an interesting team in solving crime and finding love in the process.
I won a paperback copy of this book. I volunteered to read it and write a review.
