Essential Functions for Conversation

Rate this book
How do you help students take their first steps towards real conversation? Essential Functions for Conversation (EFC) does this by presenting simple, basic language patterns and strategies for everyday conversation. Each of the 39 two-page units, focusing on a common conversational function or situation, is a self-contained lesson comprising one page to present the target language, the other to provide extensive practice material. In addition, and to ensure regular consolidation of the material presented and practiced in the main units, there are nine review units, at regular intervals, throughout the book. The inclusion of an answer key, providing sample answers to the practice and review sections, together with a comprehensive set of recordings on CD, ensure the EFC is well suited for self-guided study. For the classroom, in which students are encouraged to talk, EFC is ideal, providing lively and wholly interactive material. EFC provides examples of the most common patterns of English used by speakers of American English; the recordings provide accurate models which support and complement the text. EFC, therefore, is a practical and attractive aid to getting students on the road to real conversation!
