Love in Holiday Junction #4

Falling for the Wrong Guy

Rate this book
They don’t even like each other…so how could they ever fall in love?

Between raising her smart, sassy daughter and starting her own architecture firm, the last thing on Abigail Harper's mind is a relationship. Especially one with the immature owner of the local pub, who’s hired her to design his expansion.

Braden McKenna loves his fun and carefree life as the owner of the town watering hole, the Shamrock. And being in close proximity to the uptight architect revamping the pub only solidifies his desire to stay single. Abby is . . . complicated, and Braden doesn’t do complicated.

But Abby’s daughter thinks Braden might be just what her mother needs. And when she teams up with Holiday Junction’s group of meddling matchmakers, Abby and Braden might undergo a renovation of the romantic variety.

Can they both stop stubbornly clinging to their independence long enough to give love a shot?

FALLING FOR THE WRONG GUY is the fourth book in the LOVE IN HOLIDAY JUNCTION series of standalone romances. Each fun and flirty story is set in the small town of Holiday Junction, WA and can be read on its own, but you’ll probably enjoy reading them in order more. Miscommunication and flashbacks

My least favorite tropes and conventions were used and did what they do. Braden and Abby should have gotten over the shy teenage thing by their thirties. Flashbacks were relied on to create the love story rather than it be indicated while the story was taking place. And any time one of them was gathering courage to make a move they chickened out.

So wrong it’s just right

Welcome back to Holiday Junction, where every day is a celebration. Here we meet Abby and Braden - they grew up in the same town, went to the same school, yet don’t like each other. At all. Which is fine because it’s not like they need each other.

Not at all.

But life has a funny way of giving you what you need when you least expect it, and watching these two figure things out is a joy from start to finish. Add in Abby’s precocious and motivated daughter, Joey, and you’ve got the makings of another winning romance from Tami Franklin.

Abby is an architect and a single mom who is hired to expand a local pub called the Shamrock. The Shamrock is owned by Braden. He loves his job and the fun atmosphere of the bar and feels Abby is too stiff and complicated for him. But Abby's daughter teams up with the town's matchmakers to out them together. Great ending.

The great plot was well written and the characters were so well developed that as I turned each page the chemistry between the characters kept me totally hooked until the very last page!

Sweet.

Braden and Abby had pretty much been enemies through school, although some of the misunderstandings had been promoted by others. This is their chance to see what the journey might hold for them. A really sweet romance.

Fun read

It was fun to watch Abby and Braden slowly build a relationship even with old hurts between them. Abby's daughter is a delight and adds another dimension to the story. The ending was satisfying and left me with a smile.

#Predictable!

If the parallel stories from high school to present day seem familiar in circumstances and patterns, they are. Formulated plot, likable, but stock characters, and sugary-sweet setting create a fast read, not dense in complexity, but rather like tasty junk food.

Some minor plot holes and this cover is awful. Good thing my book had a different one or I probably wouldn't have read it. That being said it is all the feel good, wholesome, hea fun a girl could want in a quick read.

First, the title doesn't work for me. This is a clean read. They barely finally kiss at the end but it is super sweet. Especially the relationships with the little girl. I am a little confused about her age and maturity level...but very likeable characters.

Falling for theWrong Guy

Miss Franklin is a very talented writer. She can keep the reader guessing through out the whole story to whether things would work out like you want it.

You get what you pay for, and this book was free. 😅 I don't know what irked me more, the plot holes or the spelling errors.

An easy romance to read - the sweetest part was the flashbacks to the past as kids.

This is a sweet romantic comedy that will leave you with a warm heart and a smile on your face.

Abigail Harper and Braden McKenna couldn't be more different. Abigail is a busy single mom focused on her architecture firm, while Braden enjoys the laid-back life as the owner of the local pub. When Abby is hired to design an expansion for Braden's pub, sparks fly—but not the good kind.
Abby's daughter is the cutest! She wants her mum to be happy, but she wants a dad too. Especially cuz she needs one so that she could participate in an annual festival.
Abby and Braden's banter is both witty and endearing, and you will be rooting for them to overcome their differences and find love.

In this latest installment of the Holiday Junction series, the author is able to convey such realistic, humorous interplay between the characters. I’ve read some books lately where the humor just doesn't work; it falls flat or tries too hard. I enjoyed the funny little moments between Joey and her mom and Joey and Braden. Children often do appear in romances where the characters are a bit older, but I absolutely love how sometimes Joey was actually the viewpoint character. I don't think I've often seen romances do that, and it was very well done here. Joey was a fantastic character, and I love the way that she looked at the world, her approach to it, and how much she cared about her mother. Abby and Braden definitely have chemistry, even at first when they are clearly at odds. I like the way the author slowly revealed their backstory that showed how their somewhat turbulent relationship came to be.

As in all the other Holiday Junction books, the residents of the small town were deeply embroiled in the story between Abby and Braden. Gotta love those Matchmaking Mamas! It certainly adds an undercurrent of fun to this book in particular and the series in general. The way the characters came to understand one another and grow and evolve seemed natural, not forced in any way. One of the elements that I really liked in particular in this story was how Abby was dealing with her grief of losing her husband; it seems so real when she would have little conversations with his photo while she was trying to figure out things. This is definitely a story that delivered all the feels that you want in a romance. I enjoyed seeing a little bit more of Lena and Gage; their story is a particular favorite of mine from this series. The only thing I didn't like about the story is that it didn't end with the definite HEA. Yes, it seems like things are heading in that direction, but they’d barely gotten straightened around when the book ended. I like my HEAs! No matter; I still highly recommend this book and the series.

I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

Where in the first three books the Matchmaking Mamas took it upon themselves to gently encourage our couples together, in this book they operate on request. Abby Harper’s ten year old daughter Joey has decided that her mother has been alone long enough after the death of her father Daniel. She would also like a new dad, so she draws up a list of men in town who might be suitable, quickly settling on local bar owner Braden McKenna. This decided, she approaches Lou Chalmers and asks for her help. I thought this was really cute.

Braden and Abby have a bit of a rocky past, which is explored in snippets throughout the book. Their connection, or relationship, is not necessarily an enemies-to-lovers, although it starts out that way. Rather, it touches on a second chance, where the first chance was hopelessly missed.

Abby has always been serious and studious, and found Braden’s carefree attitude annoying, despite her attraction to him. As a result, they don’t very much get along since her return to Holiday Junction. She also still misses her husband, but over time comes to realize it might be time for her to move on and give love another chance.

With Braden expanding his business, he hires Abby as architect and contractor. This, as well as Joey’s spending time at the McKenna farm, allows them to spend more time together and get to know each other as adults. They learn to look beyond their preconceived notions of the other, which is wonderful to witness. The Father’s Day tournament is an hilarious event, and a great opportunity for Braden to try out a father’s role.

This is definitely a heartwarming story, and a nice addition to the series.

This story is about Joey, Abby and Braden. This is another book in the Holiday Junction series. Abby is a single mother to Joey as her husband Daniel never returned from his last leave in the military. Joey is about 10 years old and hasn’t had a father figure since she was five, but her mother has done wonders with her. Abby is an architect and Braden is a bar owner who has decide (by help of others without him knowing) to hire her for his expanding business. Of course, note that this story is drawn more by Joey, she is the mastermind in the sense of going to the right people for help on getting a man for her mother and a father for her. She happened to choose Branden for that role, of course without them knowing. She manages to have them spend time together so that they can get to know each other as Abbey is no to found of him. This story is one my favorites by far as a kid knows what she wants, and she is hoot. The question is can both Braden and Abby realize this in time for a good connection to happen between them?

This is by far, my favorite of the series so far. Each book can be read as a stand alone, but the whole series is great and should be read.

I loved, loved, loved Abby and Braden. Also, could not help but to fall in love with Joey and Harry. They were super cute and the best of friends. This book was entertaining from the first page and I did not want to put it down. Super strong characters that I fell in love with so quickly. Fantastic description to details that sucked me in making me feel as if I was a part of the story, and engaging dialogue.

Written as a 3rd person, multi pov, with a HFN ending. I hope there will be more to this series.

Would I recommend this book? Absolutely!!

Would I read more from this author? Yes!!

I volunteered to read this ARC for an honest review. I enjoyed this story about Abby and Braden. This is a great continuation in the series, still building on past characters and new ones. Abby and Braden went to school together but we're never really best friends. When an incident in HS screwed up that friendship, they interacted on a professional level. Abby married and had a daughter, but her husband was killed by an IED, casing them to move back to her hometown. Braden runs the local Irish pub. He's always had a rocky relationship with Abby but he was still drawn to her. Joey, Abby's daughter, comes up with a plan that her mom and Braden would be a good couple. Lots of clean fun and intense moments of flashbacks. Great HEA.

I love all the books set in Holiday Junction and think this may be my favourite of them all

Abigail Harper has moved her daughter Joey and herself to the small town of Holiday Junction hiking it would give them a better life but at the moment all it is causing is stress as she sets up her new architect business. When she meets Braden McKenna the owner of The Shamrock the town watering hole she finds him immature. When she is tasked with renovating the pub they are thrown together and their feelings are complicated So why does the town think they would be perfect together and will the meddling matchmakers get them to rethink their feelings for one another. A sweet fun book that keeps you entertained as you realise that opposites really do attract

I loved Joey Harper in the last book. She was so funny and mature for her age. I was happy that her mom Abby was getting a second chance at romance. I thought her integrative based architecture company was interesting and it was clear she was very passionate about what she did. It was funny that Abby and Braden had secret crushes on each other high school and never knew it and misunderstandings kept them apart. He was immature and still is somewhat with his teasing with Joey, but he’s grown up and runs a successful bar and wants to venture into beer making with Abby’s help in designing his new expansion. This was a bit of an opposites attract romance since she was smart and he was athletic.

You can't fall in love with someone you don't even like. Or can you? Abigail and Braden really don't like each other. She thinks he's immature and he thinks she's uptight. Her daughter has other thoughts and thinks they would be perfect for each other, as do others in the town of Holiday Junction. Will Abigail and Braden each get past their stubbornness, and realize their feelings toward each other could lead to a romance between them and a future together? A fun and entertaining story line, great characters with great chemistry and a joy to read.
