I’ve attended more than 500 weddings over 22 years. I’ve been privy to couples’ most intimate moments as they share their hopes for their relationship and fears that arise before the ceremony, and as they work through the inevitable issues that come up afterward. No, I’m not a wedding crasher, I just happen to be married to a Rabbi. Rethink Love is for anyone who is in love, wants love, or wishes to rekindle love. Relationships can be our biggest source of joy and our biggest source of pain. Every relationship has its problems, but the ones that work are the ones we consistently work on. Difficulties aren’t a sign of a bad marriage or a looming breakup. Challenges are a powerful signal that your relationship needs to evolve, and you are being called to reconnect to something greater, to evolve, and love more deeply. Love isn’t something we need to find, accumulate, or protect. It is something that we inherently possess, and the only way to receive it fully is to give it away. We have to throw away our misconceptions of what relationships are in order to embrace what they can be. Rethink Love emphasizes taking responsibility for the quality of your relationships while offering practical pathways to immediate, long-lasting solutions for improving them. Every person is worthy of being loved, and every relationship has the potential to bring lasting fulfillment.

With her trademark blend of humor, insight, and honesty, she shows individuals how to create a life that feels like it is working, like it makes sense, and most importantly, a life in which they are living and loving as the powerful, fulfilled person they’ve always wanted to be. Her personal endeavors have taught her how the practical wisdom of Kabbalah can bring Light and strength into even the most challenging experiences by changing the one thing we can control, ourselves.

To me this book did exactly what the title says - it made me rethink love. At the time I read it I had spent 2 months away from my long distance partner, those two months have since turned into a year and two months and I am still implementing the lessons I learned in this book. Most importantly this book allowed me to shift my mindset from being a taker to being a giver, to realizing that within a relationship the only things that I can control are my own actions, and my own outpouring of affection. I've stopped trying to control my partner, and certainly stopped trying to change them. This book was well written, the structure was easy to follow and easy to take lessons from. The author is charming, and her writing embeds humour, spirituality, and the wisdom won from years of marriage. It is pretty woowoo, and very experienced based. (:
There is so much wisdom here. And so much practical actionable guidance for a better-than-good relationship. I love the way she approaches topics and her candor about some of the most common issues couples have. Who wants to hear that if anyone in your relationship needs to change it's probably you (not your partner)? She delivers the hard truths but most importantly guides you to a place where you can embrace them. In the theme of rethink I was presented with a lot of ideas that seemed backwards but upon consideration so much of what I thought I knew about how good relationships work was pretty flawed. I had several paradigm shifting experiences with this content. I think there is something new here for everyone to learn.
My husband and I listened to this audio together and it was like every chapter we had something to talk about and grow. Just having some conversations we never had before on topics we don't normally think about was good and the one chapter on how we argue was my favorite portion in the book. It made us really have a great conversation in a way that was like well we can discuss this rationally and not just think in our minds. Great read.
I found this book when I started to question “what is love?”. There were some things that I already knew, but it is great to have some reinforcement. This is a must read for any couples looking to grow their relationship. The book is heterosexual based, though, so some things did not apply to my relationship. Lovely book.
I loved the easy read & Rules after each chapter. I plan to type them up & post on refrigerator. I wish I had this information years ago & will share with my 3 adult children.
Monica, thank you so very much for sharing from the heart.
This book has shifted some of my misconceptions about intimacy between couples. Like the author has demonstrated throughout this book - “Love is more than just a feeling. It is a process requiring continual attention.”
Amazing!!! A must!!! Increíble, es un libro que todos deberían tener! Una guía del re descubrimiento del amor incondicional en todas sus presentaciones. Te invita a re pensar tus relaciones 💛
I absolutely enjoyed this book. There are many ideologies that make sense in how we respond in love and to our partners and how we can work on ourselves.
Loved reading this. Valuable whether you’re single or in a relationship. Really appreciated its incorporation of spirituality and the Kabbalistic principles. So much beautiful wisdom here.
