I got the job. It was the gig that was going to change everything -- fancy clients, hot men, huge mansions.
The problem? My new boss Dominic Halstead. The mystery, the legend, the reason my heart skipped beats.
He was a Halstead -- and they were known to be billionaire heartbreakers.
The first time I saw him from across the room, I knew. I was drawn to the tall devil. I couldn’t take my eyes off his large -- muscles.
Out of my reach, firmly.
He wants me from the look of it. His eyes follow me wherever I go.
Dominic’s tone is so husky. All enough to lose my grip on reality.
Tara, my best friend, drags me into chaos. Dominic is there. He pulls me out of the fire, burning me with his kisses. Will I ever find air again? Or am I destined to lose myself completely, drowning in Dominic?
Lauren Wood loves to read and write about irresistible alpha males who are naughty and dirty. If you like bad boys, sexy neighbors, billionaires, and swoon-worthy romance, you've come to the right place. Her alpha males are strong enough to make the hard decisions in life, but sweet enough to melt for his mate.
She is a big time fashionista, loves trying new hair styles, and if she is not writing, you will find her in a gym working on her body to get the attention of her very own bad boy. *-*-*
This is a wonderful read and a great way to kick off this new series. Vanna and Dominic have amazing chemistry and their story was just so fun. Lots of emotions, drama, sparks and steam will keep you smiling as this couple's story unfolds. Really looking forward to more of this series. I am posting a volitional, forthright review.
The storyline is excellent. I was intrigued the moment I read what the book was about. A billionaire and his hot chef. Ohh yes! Unfortunately this was such a let down I had to force myself to finish this book. The plot is still great but the story was so poorly written. The interaction between all the characters seemed disjointed and the supposed “chemistry” between Dominic and Vanna was strained and disconnected. The writer goes from one emotion to the opposite with no transition. I couldn’t get into any of the storylines between any of the character for lack of transition. Much as I am interested in the Halstead men, I’m moving on from the series because I cannot bear to read another book written in this fashion. So much hope....so disappointing.
I was determined to finish this book, as it was so short. It was awful. It needed an editor and a proofreader. Half the time, I couldn't tell who was talking or what had even been said. There was an interesting story there, but with all the issues with figuring out who said what, I couldn't even enjoy the story. I didn't mind the instalove, but the issue between Dominic and his brother was confusing. And when the murder is brought in, that was over the top.
This took me way longer than I wanted to finish and longer than it should have been. This story started out with lots of promise but then soon turned into a pissing match between Dominic and Jesse. I liked Vanna as a character and the brothers were cool but the author could have gone in a different direction with the story. What started off as a love story between Dominic and Vanna quickly turned into a murder mystery with Vanna and Tara winding up in jail. All the while, having Dominic wrestle with his feelings for Vanna. There was too much going on in this story in the short amount of time that things that happened didn’t seem logical or made sense. When Vanna and Dominic finally gave into their desires for each other, they end up expressing it at a hockey game. The scene didn’t have the impact I was hoping for, it seemed all over the place and confusing to follow. I’ll give this book a 3.5 for creativity because the author tried and I didn’t completely dislike the book.

Vanna runs a catering business and she's trying to get it to be more successful. She gets a job catering for Dominic and thinks this will be the big break she needs. Things start heating up between her and Dominic and she is getting excited by everything. However a call from her friend Tara changes everything for her. When Tara was defending herself against her boyfriend she thinks she killed him so she call Vanna for help. Will Vanna be able to keep seeing Dominic with all the stuff she's hiding from him? Will she go to jail for helping her friend?
This is an amazing story that will have you on the edge of your seat. The chemistry between them is blazing hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.
This is a great fun read that was a pleasure to read The story line flowed well there was enough angst to make it fun but not enough to bog the story down.
Vanna has just got the biggest job of her life with her partner and friend for their catering company They have been asked to cater the New Years Charity Event that the Halsteads put on each year and this year it is at Dominic;s home. She is instantly attracted to Dominic but knows that he is out of her league but he seems to firmly have his eye on her as well. Dominic has never had anything serious with anyone but for Vanna he may change his ways but can he,.
The book was hard to read.. it started off right away with him having screwed a woman then talking to his youngest brother. Then seeing the caterer and immediately falling in lust with her at the same event I think it was? How tacky. And then when he was being overly cheesy and confident she was super cold and shut off. The whole book his love for her grew and she was still pushing him away. They didn’t fully get together until the epilogue. It just wasn’t written too good to me. Too much complaining from each character. Won’t read anymore from this author sorry.
Dominic/The Billionaire's Chef.I enjoyed this book! It was exciting and romantic. Vanna has a catering business that takes her to the rich. When she accepts an event from the Halstead's, life will never be the same. She has Dominic to blame for that as well as her best friend, Tara. The trouble they get into causes so many problems for all.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. *** I voluntarily read a Review Copy of this book. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book He’s rich, he’s famous, he’s a playboy and he is pampered and egotistical. That’s Dominic Halstead...what’s not too love. Well everything that caterer Vanna should stay away from. He isn’t anything like his brother Jesse, her best friend. At first, it’s all about the Chase but Dominic hasn’t met anyone like Vanna before and people can change. Throw in the mix of danger, drama and that’s just for starters involving her friend Tara and now the lives of Vanna, Tara and Dominic will change forever. A crazy, sexy story you won’t forget.
The basic story line was good. I struggled with getting mixed up with who was speaking (who said what sentence), why a scene was written a certain way, scenes that should have been omitted and never followed through on (YouTube sensation), and last attempt at drama where Clinton pulls her back into apt but then it seems while Dominic is rescuing her that he had to pull Vanna off her assailant (?) I wasn’t pulled into this story. I was mostly confused on where the characters were coming from and if it would ever come together.
Proofreading would have picked up the gaps of missing information, times where it's unclear who is talking or the mix up on who is talking. Times the author writes in narrative when it shouldn't have been. Dominic comes screen as a jerk, confident and swollen head only at the end it's a 180 flip. I had whip lash. The story didn't flow by any means and it could have been a good story. No cheating or cliffhanger and it ends on a happy note.
ARC review For honest review. Vanna is a cater which her best friend working for the halstead charity event on New Years at dominic's house that his brother Jessie friends with vanna helped her to get. When she meets playboy Dominic and he finds that he wants vanna but never been in a relationship now he needs to learn what it means. Awesome story very cute too
DOMINIC is book one in the series Halstead Billionaire Brothers by author Lauren Wood. Intriguing storyline that has a bit of it all- drama, suspense, sibling rivalry and seriously sexy moments. Alpha male character who is used of getting everything he wants- sassy female character who is going to give him a run for his money. Enjoy!!
This is by far the worst book I have every read. The title is misleading and so is the synopsis. How do we go from a chef at a dinner party to my roommate being a murder and falling in love with the Billionaire. There was no real story and the author needs to go back and do some major rewrites to make this make sense. Make it make sense.
I was rooting for Dominic and Vanna but the story got really confusing with Tara and Jesse adding drama to a already shaken relationship. The supporting characters are unstable and just added more stress to the awkward situation. I was just glad that everything worked out and I hope that people stop wanting them to fail together.
This well-written storyline has twists, chemistry and great main characters. The H and h are defined, likable and engaging. I found this book to be entertaining enough to read in one sitting. I voluntarily read an ARC and this is my honest review.
Great read. I couldn’t put it down. I can’t wait to read the next one. You got some suspense and some hot and steamy! I have read a few books by this author. I recommend reading any books by her.
This was an absolutely fantastic story. It was entertaining and captivating. The twist in the plot gave it an edge. The characters were remarkable. The emotions the characters went through was spot on. The ending was sweet.
Side and crazy story of murdering of a boyfriend who wasn't really dead! A Billionaire who wanted his chef to fall for him. Have him a ruff time. Need to read the rest of this story to find out what happened next! ENJOY
This was a good try but this writer needs more experience. Did not flow very well and did not hold my attention. Only finished it because I get that way with books. Hope she doesn't give up trying though.
Enjoyed reading this book. It had intrigue and feelings for his family and Vanna. It was fun reading the twist and turns of Vanna and her friends lives. Thanks for a good read. Written by Cindy :)
I was really disappointed with this book. The story didn’t flow at all, and there were major gaps in the storyline. It was rushed and the characters weren’t developed. Could have done without the whole best friend storyline and just focused on the two brothers and Vanna.
Too many twists and turns, how can he love her quite so fast. Likable characters and the brothers are a close family he helped raise after their parents death.
3,5 good story, but something was missing too and I couldn't put a finger on. Maybe it's the way Dominic falls so quickly in love, or that I don't like his brother behavior toward Vanna
Chef bags a billionaire. She was the sweetest morsel he ever had to chase down. This man never chases anything. Throw in missing dead bodies and this book was fun.
