Love has two sides. The good, and the bad. The little red poetry book called heartbreak will show you the good and bad sides of a relationship and how to avoid unnecessary hurt. Your most valuable possession is your heart and hearts are better when they’re not broken.
Ry Reed has written poetry for many years. Poetry has helped her heal and she uses her life as a platform to teach and share lessons she's learned along her journey. Depression, heartbreak, willingness to move forward, and start over again, her poems are relatable, personal, and straight to the point. Her every word digs out emotions and encourages change. She lives in southern California with her mother and brothers and writes poetry, non-fiction, and fiction books.
Ry Reed was generous about sharing samples of her books to me — I love poetry, but poetry that doesn’t speak to me is pointless, and sometimes it is very hard to buy a book of poems you haven’t tasted because who knows if that poetry is meant for you?
But my taste of this book left me wanting more. If you are the type who likes long rambling descriptive poems, this isn’t for you. These are short and pointed. I personally think it is more difficult to paint a picture of emotions with very little words, but when done correctly, it leaves you filling in your own feelings and the poem becomes yours in a way. I will definitely be picking this one up to read more.
This was such an amazing collection of poetry! A lot of the pieces in here I could relate to, one of them being plunge! If you’re looking for a collection of poetry I highly recommend these pieces because each one has a message, each one contains something that we can relate to whether your the dominant partner in your relationship wanting your partner to take more initiative in making plans, or your always showing up for others who don’t appreciate you nor reciprocate the same energy you provide them. Please support the writing of Ry Reed trust me when I say you won’t regret it!
This book was beautifully written in a way that makes us stop and think about who we are. Some of the main themes that caught my attention were: self-love, compassion, longing, and self-worth. I think these pieces were attention grabbing, especially ones like Sticky Fingers, Plunge, Lovesickness, and Screwup.
This book is really good. I enjoyed how direct and relatable it is. If you or someone is going through a break up or got broken up with I definitely recommend reading this, it's an easy read and the way Ry writes is so magical in a way that makes me want to just lie down on these pages and rest. Her words comfort me in a way that's hard to explain.
There are some deep and heart-wrenching moments in this book. Very real and relatable moments scattered throughout. There are a few passages that feel a little bit like a cliche one-liner, but they can still be reflected on powerfully. I also appreciate the very real advice that Ry Reed gives us on dating and relationships.
I received a sneak peak copy from the author on socials and I will be coming back for more. This book in particular was about the good and bad of relationships, the good is so good that the bad doesn’t seem so bad. And the bad makes you feel a little blue when it’s so relatable. I really enjoyed this work of art by Ry Reed!
I was sent a sample of this poetry book from the Author themselves & this is a honest review (as always) 🥰
I really did enjoy it, it was short for me ofc because it was less than 30 pages but within those pages i felt comforted by the poetry in a way that it felt like a warm natural hug from someone whom i once loved very much.
I absolutely adore this book and encourage anyone who is dealing with recent heartbreak or healing from old wounds to sit down, relax, and get lost in these pages. You'll find yourself somewhere between them.
This book is just a beautiful book of smiles. I felt those first crush butterflies as I read with this almost new love wonder of I remember the exact moment I felt like that too. Read it, you will not be sorry you did!
The words in this book hit me deep, and have stuck. The poem Screwup, is one that especially lingered because of my actions towards a past relationship. Giving love and being loved and also feeling the effects of heartbreak. Learning to love myself through all my seasons. I loved this book.
I was so excited to read this book and it didn't disappoint. It has a variety of poetry some totally straight forward others make you think more. All of the poems are understandable and beautifully written. Im excited to read more by Ry Reed.
I absolutely love this book. I was immediately captivated from page 1. I lost myself in a few of the pages and emotions took over. Definitely need a printed copy.
It's an awesome book and would recommend it to anyone who needs a little advice on what to do but it also teaches reassurance and how to appreciate someone
Beautiful. Breathtaking. Reading this made me feel heard and less alone. It was beautifully written and the words were so easy to grasp. Definitely a must read!
This poetry isn’t really like every other poetry book. It is very unique and was definitely speaking to me. Love the insight this book provides into the two sides of love.
