The Promised Neverland is a story taking place in the future year 2048, where the characters Emma, Norman, and Ray live in the Grace Field House where children are cared for by Elizabeth, the keeper of the facility. While everything appears lovely at a first glance, the further the story goes it is revealed to be darker than it seems. What is this darkness, you may ask? Read the books and find out for yourself! The twists and turns of the story that I have read so far are genuinely really cool, and I’d recommend you go and check out the books if you are interested.
As of finishing the tenth entry in the story, I am thoroughly enjoying the story thus far. The characters are fun to watch succeed, the story is dark and intriguing, and the art style of every book is absolutely spectacular! It’s probably my favorite series to date. Admittedly, the story can feel rushed at times, where the pacing just goes forward lightning-fast, but that doesn’t harm the narrative too much. Also, I’d like to mention that the books can get very graphic and gory at times, especially later on down the line, so if you aren’t too keen on violence of that measure, then you might want to avoid the books this time. All in all, I enjoyed what I’ve read of the story so far, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is into a dark story with even darker characters.
