After learning that her brother has betrayed her, Anissa is having a hard time coping with her trust issues. She decides to move forward, while excluding Justin from her life and tries to focus on her career, as well as her relationship with Phil. But with several enemies lurking in the shadows, things just continue to get even more complicated. Anissa feels like everything around her is threatening to crumble, and when a situation arises that separates her from Phil, she turns toward Maylen for moral support. But when their relationship is misconstrued, her bond with Phil is up in flames. Anissa truly believes in her heart that Phil is her soulmate, but with the turmoil they’ve experienced, she’s terrified that their bond may go under.
This one is a real life soap opera! I feel for Anissa. Portrayal and darkness seems to be all around her and is coming from every angle. I truly can’t believe her brother. And Clark, like I’m locked into how this story is going to unfold. I’m at a loss for words really regarding her brother and the lengths that he went in this one to destroy Haze, and he did not care that he was hurting his own sister.
It’s like something snapped in him. Out of nowhere too! I also enjoyed how Anissa never stopped being creative and doing what she needed to do for herself. Not without sometimes doubt and uncertainty, she stayed creative. Very inspiring for my very own journey into my purpose. I also enjoyed how each one of her poetry book release centered around the phase of her life.
It was also refreshing to see Layah enjoy some calm after the storm with Vice. He seems like a hitter that is being pulled into the softness of a nurturing woman. That surrender is nice. And I need Anissa and Haze to get it back on track! Haze is being stubborn for sure.
And that auntie of Haze, chile, she is a mess! And that grave that she is digging for Anissa, seems to be the same one she is going to fall in. Book Three, I’m coming for you….
Ok, Whoa😲. This was a lot. Anissa is one tough cookie because the hurt and betrayal that continues to plague her is ridiculous.
I kept wandering why this story kept Maylen included (since I already knew Anissa wouldn't end up with him), so it was a shock to know he was a total psycho🥴. Who does what he was doing and he acted like it was nothing. Just crazy. I guess all the meditation and nature stuff was so he could be at peace with himself, yet that didn't pane out the way he expected. He got what he deserved 😏.
That Aunt Jeena was a total mess. She was so disrespectful and it wasn't even clear exactly why she didn't like Anissa. Anissa was nice until Jeena was rude to her first, which Anissa had every right to say her peace. Then to bring Phil's ex, Carmen, to Anissa home was super foul.
One thing I can say for sure is these books never leave room for dull moments. Keeps you on your toes and waiting for the next shoe to drop.
This book had too much going on for me in the worst ways and Justin was one of the main stars in that list. He worked on my ever-loving nerves, and I just could not deal with him anymore. I was so happy that Layah didn't fall for his crap and was even more excited when Clark decided to do what was best for her. Maylen also worked on my nerves and for the life of me I couldn't understand why Nissa kept dealing with him after the tantrums he kept seeming to have. I still didn't feel the connection I was hoping for between Nissa and Phil and then next thing you know the story jumps a year and I'm thinking what in the world. Everything just seemed to fall apart even more and there seemed to be so much unnecessary crap. By the time the book ended I was so over all of these characters and their actions. I wanted to love this series but after everything that happened in this book, I have no interest in reading the last book.
Chile, the way I've been bitting my nails at every turn, i don't even know where to start. Phil and Anissa is the definition of a ride or die relationship. I just wanted Anissa to not take more medicine than prescribed, I really hope she finds an end to the chronic headache. Layah, I feel for you, and I was on your mother's side for a minute until she showed her whole ass at the baby's birthday party. Clark, don't nobody feel bad for you( you home wrecking whore)Aunty Jeena, you can rot in hell for all i care. Vice, you're a good dude, but put your mother in a mental hospital because she's not right in the head. Justin, you need to grow up and stop blaming everyone for your failures. What you did at the end i hope you reap what you sow( i don't condone violence). Now on to book 3 because what???
I cannot wait for book 3 but I am going to need for Phil and Nis to get back together immediately. They spent all of book separate and at odds with each other. Also, I’m going to need for Nis to be a bit savvier than what she’s being. She has opened the door without looking several times to her detriment. Also, I’m going to need for her to follow her instincts where Phil’s aunt is concerned. I am disappointed in Phil, that he gave up so easy on his relationship with Nis. Justin’s butt is off his rocker. I cannot wait for him to get dealt with. Lastly, for Phil to be as savvy as he is, you would have thought that he would have had some separate cameras at least on the outside of his business.
This is a real live soap opera going on! Everybody has an angle, I'm side-eyeing everyone! LOL! But seriously, Book 2 had me on the edge of my seat almost as much as Book 1! So much conniving and darkness. My heart hurts for Anissa because she has gone through so many painful situations in just a few short years. I love that she's still close with Layah. And Vice is Bae!!!!😍 He was a dope sidekick to Phil in Book 1, loyal and about his business. But I loved seeing his softer side in this book. I hope the 4 of them all end up happy by the end of Book 3, but I've learned to expect the unexpected in this series. Don't make us wait too long for Book 3!!!
I wonder if Justin suffers from a mental illness? Like who does all of this over not getting a business deal and to your own sibling?? I really that Mayven might have been a possible love interest for Anissa but he clearly proved me to be wrong. I'm rooting for Layla because she deserves so much after putting up with Justin all of these years. I wish Haze would put more distance between himself and his aunt. She's a sneak mfer. That ending had me shook because Justin is doing way too much. I hope the finale is soon!!
There really isnt anywhere for me to start or anything to say other than part 2 kept me at the edge of my seat from page one!!! I love Anissa and can relate to her on several levels. I'm glad she has sisters like Layah and Sasha. Haze and Vice are definitely on their grown man ish. My hope for book 3 is that Karma falls through to serve all deserving parties.
This series is KRAZY!!! I cannot believe Justin is actually holding a gun to his sister’s head with her son in her arms. OMG. He needs to die right now. And Phil’s aunt is foul as hell for the plan she has to get Anissa out the way by throwing her own son under the bus. That is really effed up. I hope Phil does fall for the okey doke
This was a great follow up, book one was a good book, but book two is even better. Can not wait for the next one. Should be some type of alert to let me know it is available. Great job.
After the cliffhanger from part 1, this continuation was eagerly expected. Stuff got real and the more the pages turn the dealer it gets. Cliffhanger #2 will leave you anxiously waiting to start part 3.
So part two gave us a lot of the same drama with a lot of twist. Justin is a loss soul. Phil, I'm not sure what is up with him. And why cannot poor Anissa and Layah catch a break? Ready for part three...
This has so much drama. Everybody is crazy. I can’t believe this isn’t. Over. Some of the verbiage is undesirable, but the storyline is good. I can’t wait for certain people to get theirs.
I’m usually not one to really dislike characters, but I cannot stand Justin, Jeena or Carmen and can’t wait for karma to pay them a visit. Looking forward to reading book three.
This was a page turner. I can't believe there was so much happening in book two. This writer has a powerful imagination. Characters are well developed. If you want a drama this is it along with a lot of love.
I'm loving this series!!! It's giving me everything and then some! I can't wait till the snakes get their heads cut off so life can be Great for my two favorite couples!
I read this book within 2 days. I absolutely loved it. I loved the story and it had me on the edge of my seat. Anissa has been through so much within the 1st and 2nd book. I can't wait to read the 3rd book.
The storyline is a bit much ! If people don't strongly feel for your characters, are you really writing?! These characters are IRRITATING, especially Justin, Jeena, Clarke, and Carmen ! If it ain't one thing, it's another ! Alissa can't catch a break !

This is a miserable series and I’m so glad there’s only one installment remaining because I feel like it’s just being drug out too slowly that it’s not good anymore.
These books will definitely have you soaking up every word. I read this through a reading slump so it took me so much longer to finish but still a really good read. So much drama and heartache. And I love how the author left book 1 & 2 on a cliff hanger.
This series was amazing from start to ending of part 2. Can't wait for the final cut to find out what happens. Nyerra you are talented keep up the great work.
I gave five stars because the story truly moves you at some point or another. The characters are compelling and so real in their own way. A must read for sure.
