FINDING WOLF MOUNTAINHouse-sitting for her best friend Char was supposed to be an easy gig for Millie. Just move in for a week while Char was on vacation, feed the dogs, and all would be right in the world. When Char’s brother escapes from prison and shows up at the house, though, her easy two-week vacation in the woods turns into a kidnapping lockdown.Striker doesn’t seem much different than he had when she’d fallen head over heels in love with him as a kid. And when he explains to her that he didn’t kill anyone, she finds she believes him, and she wants to help prove he is innocent. When people and bears start showing up in their backyard, and Millie thinks she sees a man turn into a bear, her life turns into a spiral of uncertainty— especially when Striker turns into a wolf right in front of her to save her life. The world is nowhere as simple as she thought, and now Millie has to keep Striker’s secret, while fighting off a mob of bears trying to get to him. House-sitting should come with hazard pay.SECURING WOLF MOUNTAINWith the weak truce broken, Char knows she’ll have to do the unthinkable and travel to Canada in hopes of convincing her parents to bring the pack back to Vermont to protect the homestead. Her longtime friend Colin wants to come, but bringing a bear shifter into the wolf stronghold in Canada is not the best idea. That won’t stop Colin from following her, though. The journey to save the homestead from Colin’s people will bring Char and Colin closer than either of them expected. Can a bear shifter and wolf shifter find happiness in a world where they were born instinctual enemies? Or will Colin’s presence incite the war Char is hoping to avoid?DEFENDING WOLF MOUNTAINBran will defend Char as her alpha no matter what, and with the war already on their doorstep, he’d need to make good on that promise, and soon. But the worst of times manages to pull people together. The last place he expected to end up was in the arms of Esther, Char’s quick-witted, argumentative friend. The fire in the girl’s eyes is too much for him to bear, and soon he knows that she has to be his.The clock is ticking to an army falling down on their mountain. There is no room for distraction. But Esther is there, and she refuses to leave—which is good, because he wouldn’t let her go anyway.
Very nice. Completely enjoyed the characters in each book. An added bonus was the fact this is a set and there's no waiting for the next book. The last book resolving the question of who really killed Striker's brother but never mentioned what happened to the mate and children mentioned in book one. That was the only tidbit that bothered me. Otherwise and good read especially if you enjoy stories about shifters.
Spoilery stuff below, but since I fully recommend you do NOT read this book, feel free to keep going.
The first one was decent, although riddled with errors (explanation coming). The second wasn't so great, with a married woman having a sexual relationship with a man who is not her husband, in case you don't like that kind of thing. I don't. I didn't like the main characters as much as the first book. And there were more annoying errors. I really didn't want to read book 3, because the main couple were really aggravating in the first two books, but I kept at it because I wanted to see how the main conflict arc was resolved. I read about a third of the way into it, when I got to a place where I was so frustrated I wanted to throw my kindle across the room. It took me a while to figure out why I got so mad instead of just giving up and moving on. I'll try to explain.
The errors throughout the trilogy weren't just typos, although there were those. There were wrong homonyms, characters called by the wrong names, people forgetting about big important things they knew, world building contradictions, etc. For example:
* At one point, there's a fire. Colin (book 2) breaks a main water line to put it out. At no time is anything else mentioned about the pipe, but there's water for showers, cooking, and hand washing moments later.
* Striker (book 1) seems to forget all about the fact that his (now dead) brother was married to, and had a family with, a bear shifter (which caused the whole set up to this trilogy) when his sister decides to be with a bear shifter. In fact, the brother's family is never mentioned. Where are they? What happened to them? Furthermore, Striker forgets he knows several things that we're told in the exposition, although he lived through them.
* Millie (book 1) thinks to herself that she needs to talk to Esther (book 3) to find out what mysterious situation in her past caused her to react in certain ways. Later in book 3, Millie sits down with Bran (book 3) and tells him about Esther's kidnapping and torture as if she were there when it happened. This is the conversation that finally made me want to throw things. It was very clear to begin with that Millie didn't know. Also, it is SO VERY MUCH NOT her place to tell Bran any of that story. Serious friendship betrayal right there.
* During the conversation where Millie tells Bran this, she clearly says Esther was missing for four, count them-4, days. Three sentences later, Millie says, "She had deep purple marks on her face from the gag for weeks."
If the author can't be bothered to keep their lore and plot straight, then don't expect me to be bothered to read any more of their stuff. Show some respect for your readers!
If this is what Isabella Hunt is comfortable being out in the world to represent herself, then I have no intention of coming near anything else she's written. And neither should you.
3 unique shifter romances that shows the "better half" may not be perfect but is absolutely perfect for for you! Epic build of 3 Stories!
This is a perfect book for shifter romance book lovers. Shifter romance can get "repetitive" so it's real nice to spice things up. Three romance stories that hit home it's not that everyone needs perfect it is that there is that perfect one for you. Millie (human) & Striker (wolf shifter) he escaped a framed prison sentence & she at her BFF (Char) home to "get herself together" bad breakup & no place to call home. Then Chat defending her home & clear her brother but then her lover (wolf shifter) and Colin (hear shifter supposed to be arch enemies). Bran defender of Char and his best friend Striker (wolf shifter) that has to change his entire opinion. Esther is a small package (human) but is not taking any "shittzle" from anyone! They may be human & shifters but they are a pack to be clear of! Wolf shifters protecting their land from bear invaders. Book 1 - Finding Wolf Mountain is a story about the romance between Striker a wolf shifter and Millie a human. Striker has been in jail for the last 10 years for a murder he didn't due. He has escaped because the mafia has threatened to kill his sister Char. Char is Millie's friend. Book 2 - Securing Wolf Mountain is about the relationship of Char and Colin. They have known each other from childhood. She is the dominant wolf shifter and he is a bear. Their relationship is a complete no no! Book 3 - Defending Wolf Mountain this one is Esther and Bran's story. He's the Alpha of the pack of wolf shifters and Esther is a human. This ends in a war and you find out many secrets that brings this books to a great ending. Plus there is an Epilogue that shows the gang after 2 years one that tells where everyone is now.
I read the first book and liked it, but not the other two. I had issues with the sexism from Bran, the "it's okay you killed someone, it was just a bear" sentimentally, and the men constantly referring to women as "bitches". I also didn't like how they treated humans as inferior and not worth falling for.
Though I enjoyed the humor. I liked how Striker was protective though Millie did the protecting. I loved Bambie and Buttercup. I liked the love interest, and plot of the first book. Just...not enough to continue reading books two and three.
4/5 🌟 for nice wolfy smut. Recommend if you want fast paced action and light hearted smut!
A truly bloody series of books surrounding 3 best friends and some hunky shifters. There is a lot of action and love scenes with some serious steam. The characters are interesting and well thought out. I figured out who the real antagonist was by the second book, but it was engrossing to read as it all played out. My only criticism would be the way the male shifters referred to the females. I understand that was their canine nature but I still didn’t like it.
All 3 story had me on my reading with excitement and sad. Esther with her strength Millie going from wimpy to strong person Char from try to keep the homestead Stryker keeping the family together Bran afraid to trust Colin in love with Char (almost like Romeo y Juliet) This story is worth reading
This was a very good paranormal book. The journeys of Striker & Millie, Colin & Char, and Bran & Esther we’re full of drama, suspense, humor, hot sex and wonderful love stories. The characters were well written and interesting. I recommend this book to all who are fans of shifter romances.
This trilogy was a fantastic read with great characters whom you will love right from the start. It was full of hilarious moments, lots of love, angst, mystery, suspense, danger, and unexpected twists and turns that you'll never see coming. It's certainly a must read. I would definitely recommend this book, and great author.
I enjoy books about shifters in general. This book was a story that kept my attention through out. I never guessed who done it. It was more than sex as this was about tolerance, love of your fellow man, and love of the land. It made me think about things like recycling, caring for our forests and each other.
I loved the stories of each couple. The characters were funny and furry and romantic. My only complaint is the editing. Homonyms are a thing I freak out over. Peace and piece - loan and lone - etc. It disrupts the flow for me of the story. Especially Bran and Father's story - lots of that type of errors.
Love love loved this three part series! The characters were so believable, the story line entrancing, and I didn't want it to end! Highly recommend this trilogy to all who love shifters!
Exciting and brilliantly written if you want a long story that stays fresh and exciting from start to finish along with a fast paced romance or three then this is the one for you
I enjoyed that each new section tied in with before action. I did not like gd being used frequently. The point could have been made without using that word,1 n?
This was my first series by Isabella Hunt and I enjoyed it. The characters drew you in and while some shifter characteristics are different than what I've read before, the storyline was great and it totally worked.
Three complete books in one but Goodreads only counts it as one book. So I just finished the first book, Finding Wolf Mountain. I enjoyed the connection between Striker and Millie. Striker thinks that Millie is weak because she is human but she proves she's a bad-ass a few different times.
Wonderful story told thru this trilogy. The individual couples were sexy and fun, and the group dynamics were amazing too. This set would have been 5 stars but the editing errors were too many and pulled the reader out of the story too often.
So I liked the store line but the book begin to drag on to the point that almost got bored of reading it. So I starts to just jump pages cause I started getting super bored
