*More like 3.5 stars than 3.*

This vol marked the end of the first arc of Boom's Power Rangers comics! And I must say, it was a waste of a vol. It only collected 2 special issues, Saban's Go Go Power Rangers: Forever Rangers #1 and Saban's Go Go Power Rangers: Back to School #1, the latter of which was a waste of a time reading. The Back to School issue was simply performative, self-congratulatory "charity" that felt very much like box-ticking representation. The Forever Rangers actually was important because it continued on from the cliffhanger ending of Saban's Go Go Power Rangers, Vol. 5. However, I felt like the Forever Rangers issue could definitely have been tacked onto the ending and collected in vol 5 to save everyone the trouble of having to pick up this very short and mostly useless volume.

Despite the editorial issues there, the Forever Rangers issue was quite good! There was obviously a lot of fighting which was very well illustrated yet mostly boring. I wanted a bit more plot and substance, although I understood the need for the long battle because the plot had been gearing up to it from several issues prior. The team dynamics were solidified, almost ironically so considering the next arc of the Power Rangers comics in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Vol. 1 comes after this and changes all the team relationships, but the ending felt very rounded out and cyclical. It was quite impressive of Ryan Parrott to end the arc in almost the same way as the whole thing had begun whilst still staying true to all the character development that had happened between Saban's Go Go Power Rangers, Vol. 1 and this vol.

3.5, rounded up.

This volume collects the Forever Rangers one-shot, which is the conclusion of the previous 5 volumes-worth of stories, as well as the Back To School one-shot, which is the usual anthology fare.

Forever Rangers itself is a satisfying conclusion to this phase of the Rangers, and allows the series to slide further up the Mighty Morphin' timeline so that the Necessary Evil story that covers both Go Go and Mighty Morphin' going forwards can take place. Alpha-One is a horrible little villain with a creepy design that makes me want to kick him across a football field, but he brings the Rangers together in a way that they've been struggling with recently.

Back To School doesn't have much of note, unfortunately, and is mostly just collected here to fill-up space.

A volume with two one-shots, one of which is just pointless filler, just skip it, or buy the Forever Rangers one-shot instead, more than enough.

This was a cool "ending" to the first series though I guess it continues after this but gets a almost soft reboot in a way.

Still was nice to see the characters get some closure and learn from their mistakes. I overall enjoyed most of the character arcs, even Rita. The art also remains great with some fantastic brightful colors that I love.

The final issue here is really cheesy though and more of a comedy sketch. This volume only contains the two oversized issue so that kind of sucked. While not overall horrible it was a letdown and the weakest volume to date.

3.5 rounded up. Highly recommend you skip Back to School as it is very eh. The Forever Rangers special though is essential and builds on storylines going on GGPR since issue 1. And finally we are brought up to the beginning of the timeline from the main series, showing that we are going to have some different adventures going forward.

This is a weird volume. It completes the story arc with the Forever Rangers issue and then the second half is an issue from 2018, Back to School. I reviewed that issue when it first came out and gave it a 4.5/5. Please refer to that review for more details. This will be my review of Forever Rangers.

Alpha-1 makes such a great antagonist because he thinks he's in the right. It's a moral difference between him and Zordon. This finale is epic. The fight scene feels extended and I am here for it. Tank mode! Alpha-5's surprise! The ominous ending. Then after the dust is starting to clear, we get a check in on all of the teenagers with attitude. Trini and Jason's relationship gets a final moment. Everyone really gets into position for the start of the main ongoing series.

Rita's story with her mother has been wonderful. I loved getting to see what she had to go through to get the green power coin. The emotions she has attached to the Green Ranger.

This was an excellent conclusion to the Go Go series. I know there's more, but there's a time jump. This could easily serve as a final issue. I give this book a 5/5. What a final act!

This is the first of these trades that I’ve come away really disappointed with. It collects two one shots. The first does continue on from the ending of the last trade and the Alpha-1 arc, but for me the way that that arc concluded was really predictable and not particularly satisfying. The second one shot really is entirely pointless. It follows the rangers on spring break. They each did different activities and learned different lessons, and it really felt like very by the numbers character development which will likely have no ongoing relevance to the plot at all.

The reason why I give this two stars is because of the end of the first one shot, which finally provides the new character introduction that has been coming for fans of the tv show for a while. It was a great way to end this overall arc, but sadly is just let down by the rest of this volume, which is forgettable at best and entirely pointless at worst.

Read another book in the series. Again, I can't help but think that Alpha-1 was right, and that the whole war using kids, and refusing to kill Goldar (but being okay with killing the Putties and the other created monsters which are sentient after all), just feels wonk. Still, I like the story, I like the characters, and the art is really good most of the time.

The main story concludes here, and we get an interim story of the main kids going on vacation for a week. They each have cute adventures which seem really random (Trini saves a horse from wolves, Billy dumps food on a Middle-Eastern girl to save her speech, Zach helps get a bill passed), and the heroes share a mutual admiration party. My favorite of this section was probably the Pink Ranger's just because it was executed in such a cute way.

Kind of a step down from previous volumes I thought, but still enjoyable.

Well wasn’t that just a sweet little time!
I loved the little slice of life issues for each ranger and the new art styles that came with them! They were all so precious and made me love the rangers even more. Billy Cranston, they could never make me hate you. Goodness me.
I’ll be honest, the ‘to be continued’ from volume 5 ended very anticlimactically for me. I read this volume in a little over a week and frankly, I can’t remember what even happened in the first half of this volume. They won? I guess? I have no clue. I had fun in the second half though, so I’ll take it.
7/10 the appearance of Green Ranger, my beloved, on the cover had me thinking we were gonna get him in this volume. We did not. I am disappointed, but the cute art in this volume made up for it. I’ll allow it. Just give me more than a cameo next time lol I beg

2.5 stars really. The Forever Rangers by Parrott deserves 5 stars by itself as a one-shot, but because this collection included the Back to School one-shot, I had to significantly dampen the rating. Parrott seems to know exactly what to do to keep this story entertaining and show how much he cares about the reader and these characters. I’ve especially loved what he’s been doing with the villains and backstories with long established characters. Bennett’s story just feels so forced and out of place, like this shouldn’t be a Power Rangers story.

This could have been the end of this series, and nobody would have complained.

We would have missed this title, for sure! But this volume wraps up the first year of Power Rangers with a sweet little bow on top. I want to go back and re-read the main MMPR comics from the start, now that I know more about the cast.

This was a solid ending to the first “season” of the series. There’s a lot of distinct artists working in the various short stories that make up half of this, and they are all pretty fun. The timeline is starting to get confusing in the other book, and I’m worried about this series losing its charm once it gets sucked into the next big crossover.

I get this is power rangers. But this is starting to wear thin. I was hoping for a little bit more serious take on this series. More stakes where there are consequences for all the big monster battles. Or heaven forbid a parent figure out the secret identities.
I have only watched a few episodes of the show so hoping with the green ranger the series picks up again going forward.

This was not nearly as strong as the previous volumes as it is composed of two one shots. They weren't bad by any means but there isn't a great story going on here. I have come to really like these characters so getting more of them is a good thing but I hope that the next volume brings more story with it.

Wait, what? A five-star review for Go Go Power Rangers? Yup. Just assume that will always be so! This is a fun "in-between" volume where the stories are mostly just additions to the main run. Regardless, they are fun and I love them!

this was such a jarring read... all the different styles of art meshed between the same issues and then stopping the continuation of the storyline for some one offs... felt very confusing and off

I enjoyed this volume quite a bit. This volume closes out the rangers’ first year and propels both rangers and story into familiar and new ground. Alpha-5 gets his moment to shine when he unexpectedly delivers a crucial distraction to Alpha-1 during the rangers’ fight with Zordon’s first ally.

Their first year closes out with a couple great character moments and introductions. Jason and Trini decide to put aside their fledging romance for the greater good of the team, Kimberly finally makes amends with her ex, Rita sacrifices her mother to activate the green power ring, and Jason and Tommy face off at the expo.

I thought that Rita’s choice was a bit devasting in that it needed to occur to keep step with the original narrative, yet it was a decision that carried weight because the Parrot and team included small references to Rita’s childhood in the previous volume. The volume ends with the rangers in a new but more confident space with their year of trial and error behind them. Overall, this volume catches up to the timeline presented in Mighty Morphin with the inclusion of Tommy and how Zack was first offered the green power coin.

A solid but slightly flawed ending the main arc.

I generally really enjoyed this. It starts finishing the Alpha 1 story line which is good but a bit predictable. And then it ends with a bunch of back to school stories which are cute and touching, but also a bit pointless. It was nice to see the Rangers spend a little time away from each other, and some of them pack a fair bit of a punch, but reading them outside of a larger arc robs them of a bit of their power. Still a decent addition, but definitely non-essential.

The real highlight to this whole book however is Rita Repulsa and the end of her story arc. I love how they've handled her in this series. I never thought they would have been able to take the crazy maniacal woman from the series and turn her into a fascinating and competent villain, but they've done just that. This volume does her so many favors! I love it.

Not sure how there's another volume as this ends pretty much where the next series starts, but I guess I'm about to find out!

I loved Forever Rangers!! It wraps up this era of the comic nicely, and I love the throwback of the text boxes describing the characters (like from the first volume). It made me reminisce on all their adventures (and misadventures) so far. The Rangers also finally meet Tommy at the very end!! A 5/5 star issue for me.

The second issue, Back to School, was just alright. The little stories of all the Rangers were cute, but don't really add that much to their characters.
