M.A. Church is a true Southern belle who spent many years in the elementary education sector. Now she spends her days lost in fantasy worlds, arguing with hardheaded aliens on far-off planets, herding her numerous shifters, or trying to tempt her country boys away from their fishing poles. It’s a full time job, but hey, someone’s gotta do it!

When not writing, she’s on the back porch tending to the demanding wildlife around the pond in the backyard. The ducks are very outspoken. She’s married to her high school sweetheart, and they have two grown children.

This story is part of a series and is best read in order. Zygi is a Dom and he has his eye on sexy shy man Mo, Mo seems interested and Zygi can’t wait to have him bound to his bed, but something isn’t quite right and there is a overheard conversation lurking in the back of Zygi’s mind. Mo wants nothing more than to claim his mate Zygi, but first Mo has to come clean as to who he really is and with Zeus and Ares interfering it isn’t easy.

This story is a great ending to The Gods series. We get to see Zygi and Mo start a tentative relationship, moving slowly before interference causes them problems. Mo is an absolute sweetheart, he’s shy and quiet and although he knows what he wants, he is nervous about asking for it. Zygi is a man used to total control and recognises a submissive at first glance and Mo is definitely submissive and Zygi wants Mo to be his. Mo has his secrets though and no matter how much he wants to confess them he is scared of what Zygi’s reaction will be. Zygi doesn’t know if he will be able to forgive the loss of control but Zygi is made to face what he was being protected form.

Hmmm BDSM woven together with an innocent God and an interesting storyline, what more could a kinky gal ask for? I really liked this storyline and the characters, Mo and Zygi were perfect together and it was beautiful to see Zygi drawing Mo out, guiding him through the first stages of BDSM and giving Mo confidence. Mo brought out the Dom in Zygi very easily and reacted to the Dom sweetly and sexily. There is some tension and angst when Zygi discovers the truth and Zeus has to have words with him to get him to admit the truth of his own reaction. The story is well written and we see all the guys from the previous books. There was one part of the story that caused me to nearly die, Mo gets the ultimate revenge on Ares and it was so unexpected and funny that I sprayed tea everywhere, snorted it out of my nose and choked as I inhaled it… I have so got to stop drinking tea when I read.

I recommend this to those who love Gods and BDSM, hot sex, plenty of horny foreplay, great characters and a very happy ending.

"Pure" is the third installment in The Gods series from M.A. Church. This is the story of Zygi Wyatt. He is described as big, hairy and scary. He is also a Dom. He is gruff and never been considered sweet. Zygi finds his feelings changing for one man, Mo. Mo is small, shy and easy going. Zgyi wants to explore these feeling as he suspects Mo is a submissive. Mo also known as Morpheus is the god of Dreams. He is also drawn to Zygi but he wants to be sure of Zygi’s feelings for him.

One problem that could keep them from developing their relationship is tied to something that happened in the last book, Perfect (The Gods #2). Mo has secrets other than being the god of Dreams and Zygi has vague snippets of memory that he is just not sure are real.

While Zygi is pursuing his attraction to Mo, Mo is trying to find the right time to tell Zygi some important things about himself. He knows trust is very important to Zygi and he feels awful about keeping secrets. Unfortunately Zeus and Ares have other plans and meddle as only the gods seem to be able to do. Ares is a very unlikeable character but his appearance is necessary to show how Mo has changed since he met Zygi.

The BDSM storyline was interesting and the interactions between Zgyi and Mo are erotic. I really like Morpheus/Mo. His character is so innocent in many ways yet he knows what he wants and does not want and holds his ground.

The story draws on characters from the first two books as well as other gods of Mount Olympus. The author lightly brushed on the previous events enough to have the reader not feel totally lost but I think reading all the books in succession would be more enjoyable. Overall this series is light romantic fun with a bit of mythology mixed in.

You'll get no surprises with this one -- it's pure crack. That said, the plot is decent, IF you've read the other stories in the series. "Pure" follows the events of the previous stories but builds no background and fills in none of the gaps for new readers; in fact, the writing assumes you have read the other stories because nothing at all is explained. "Pure" jumps into the relationship between Zygi and Mo that was previously established, which, again, is not really elaborated upon. Right from the start, as a reader, I felt distanced from the story because I kept wondering, "Who are these people?"

It was almost as if "Pure" is the author's fanfic of her own work. Not to say that's bad, but it could have been so much more because the characters are charming and there's good chemistry between them and the plot is thoughtful if not particularly new or unique.

What dropped the rating from a 4-star to a 3 was the constant head-hopping. Practically from paragraph to paragraph it was someone else's POV. Sure, you can figure it out after awhile, but who wants to go to that much work when you're reading crack? It also keeps you from really getting into one person's head by ripping you away and thrusting another perspective on you.

Overall, eh, a nice couple hours of relative enjoyment, sort of like eating marshmallows. Cute but not really fulfilling. Still, that's not why you read something like this. LOL

What. Wha- Wtf, man. If Mo's "a bit less than six feet tall," he's not fucking short.

Sheesh, what the hell, man? You're making him out to be an extreme pipsqeak, the consummate "little woman," if you will.

I am spluttering in indignation right now. I mean, what the fuck, man?
Bitch, I'm short at 5'4". NOT Mo, at "a bit less than six feet."

And okay, maybe I'd have a bit of trouble getting into a truck, but Mo? Come on. He's not a six year old. He's "a bit less than six feet."

The DD seems rather canned.
They might as well have not included the cooking scene and skipped straight to the kink.

It probably would have been less cheesy that way.

And this Minus 5 Ice Bar...
Is this a real place? Cuz it sounds really fucking stupid.
I mean, I guess I could see it existing in Vegas (because come on. Vegas).

Weird shit happened, somehow Zeus has a really creepy attraction to Morphy as well...and a bunch more what-the-fuckery. Zeus and Zygi get to share a douchebag moment (well, they are very similar, after all. Their names both have 4 letters and start with Z).

I like how Mo has his own spotlight.
It made me chuckle.

What a load of weird-ass shit. Wow.
You know, it was kind of fun in a sort of offensive way. I'm a little bit of a traditionalist, purist, whatever when it comes to mythology so I get a little bit offended by extreme reinterpretations in popular mythology.

The Gods series has gotten better with each book and Pure is my favorite of the bunch. As the series has revolved around a group of three friends living in Las Vegas, we have learned more about Zygi with each book. So I was really looking forward to seeing big, hairy, and scary finally get his shot at love. That it was to be with Cupid’s friend Morpheus, the God of Dreams, merely increased my anticipation as Mo was such an interesting character in Perfect.

Even though their interactions were limited in book two, the attraction between Zygi and Mo was apparent. While Mo is shy and unsure of how to catch Zygi’s attention while he is in his human form, he does not have that problem when he enters Zygi’s dreams as Morpheus. I thought it was rather cute that Mo was startled out of the dream when Zygi called him by name. Knowing that Zygi was dreaming about him also seemed to help increase Mo’s confidence a bit. And while Mo continued to blush quite readily in Zygi’s presence, this only seemed to encourage Zygi’s Dom-side to emerge as he attempted to both ensnare Mo and protect him. I was pleased with how well the BDSM elements meshed with the storyline; but again, I think that because we had already learned about Zygi’s inclination in Perfect it didn’t feel like it was added to the book as an afterthought but rather was a natural part of Zygi. That it increased the eroticism of the sex scenes was just one heck of a bonus for readers… and Mo.

Once again Ms. Church has delivered a story that was an entertaining blend of mythology, romance, conflict, interfering gods, and seriously hot sex. While Jealousy once again reared his ugly head, it was to give Zygi a much needed kick in the arse. I liked that Zeus and Ares made another appearance as well. I will admit that even knowing how arrogant the gods are often portrayed, I was still taken aback by Ares’s actions toward Mo, but was equally as pleased by how Morpheus dealt with the transgression. But it was Zeus’s actions and concessions that really wrapped up the story for me, especially the gift he bestowed upon Zygi. As it has been almost two years since Pure was published, I am assuming that it was intended to be the final book of the series and while it was an excellent conclusion to The Gods series, I can only hope that the Moirai pay Ms. Church a visit soon and inspire her to write another book or two.

I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

Oh Zygi, how I enjoyed you during this story! There are few gay men in stories that I wish were straight, but you are one of them for sure. I had enjoyed this story on a few levels, mainly because when we had met Mo in the second book of the series, I was so hoping that he was going to get his happy ever after. And for the reason that, Zygi screwed up! BIG TIME. I do enjoy books seem more realistic and life like, and during the course of this book, that is what happened.
I also enjoyed how in this book, we were able to catch up with the couples mentioned in the previous books in the series. I think that by the author adding that information was really smart because I was wondering how everyone was progressing in their relationships.
During the course of this book though, I was really excited that we were able to see more of the God’s and what was going on with them. I’m very glad to know that the God’s have as much drama as us human folks do! I think it was awesome with everything that was going on during the story, that the author was still able to keep us focused on Zygi and Mo. They weren’t far from whatever was going on, and I really enjoyed that.
I can say that I am completely happy with this series and I am left hoping for more to come with the Gods in another book!

It has been a while since MA Church last published a story about these characters, so I had to go back and reread "Priceless" and "Perfect". I think that you need to have read the prior stories in this series to be able to understand what is happening from the get-go in this book. (So, in my opinion, this is not a free standing book.)

In this book, Zygi (yes, that's the spelling) has fallen in love with the God of Dreams, Morpheus. Zygi is a dominant person, and he perceives that Morpheus is a submissive. To be perfectly frank, I am not intrigued at all by that part of the story, in fact, I find Zygi's infantile attempts at domination to be just plain stupid.

And please, stop putting words in italics for emphasis: all readers are very capable of understanding words without the author or editor's emphasis.

I won't go through the plot here, but it really a rather simple boy meets boy, boy falls in love with boy, and they live happily ever after story. Yes, there are a few twists and turns here and there, but in the end it's pretty simple.

On whole, I think that this is the weakest of the three books (and that became obvious when I read all three of the in succession). I give this book two stars.

This is the story of Zygi and Mo aka Morpheus, the God of Dreams. It's fast-paced, steamy with mild BDSM elements and a bit angsty. Zygi is more intense than Garret and Jeff put together. He prides himself on his control, and when he sees shy Mo his protective instincts go into overdrive. Mo might be inexperienced and timid but he can stand up for himself when needed. I liked the opposite sides of him - how sweet he was with Zygi yet fierce when he was in danger.

The relationship has developed fast with things heating up between them in a short period of time. They fell in love pretty quick, and yet this didn't feel like insta love. All the characters from previous books made appearances, and the end brought a solid conclusion to the series with every couple being exactly where they wanted to be while still remaining good friends despite all the changes. I liked the slight glimpse of Olympus Ms Church created as the Gods personalities. Overall this was an enjoyable series.

Since I read this out of order, I reserve the fact that I didn't really have the back story. I enjoyed the characters, but, honestly, I didn't really feel much chemistry between the MCs.

The gods to humans premise is interesting and fun, and I think I would have enjoyed it more if I had read the books in order, but don't know if it's a story I would go back to now thagt I have already read this one.

Kind of a lightweight, fun read, and not too bad when you want something to pass the time while waiting for that next big story to get released *grins*
