Calvin Blake—He has a body that makes women fall to their knees, a smile that promises forbidden pleasure—but only for one night. He makes no promises to the women who share his bed, except that they will leave it satiated and exhausted. His enemies underestimate him, which is their first mistake. Their second is turning their backs on the lethal danger harnessed inside him. He allows no one inside his head or his heart. Not his team members at Eidolon, not his enemies, not the willing women who warm his bed. Until her.
Grace Paxton—Her smile makes men want to unravel the mystery of the beautiful yet elusive woman. They crave the feel of her skin, the taste of her lips. However, her smile hides a secret. She’s the heiress to a multimillion-dollar fortune. She’s also a member of Zenobi, the group of female assassins trying to right wrongs done against women.
Blake is shocked when Pax comes to him, asking for help to prove her father is a murderer. She’s asking for the one thing he can’t give her. Blake walks away until someone makes it personal. Then he makes it his mission to bring down the multibillionaire. As they work together, emotions and feelings they thought buried rise to the surface and they discover that sometimes your greatest weakness is also your greatest strength.
With the body count rising, Blake and Pax must survive and find the truth before it’s too late. Otherwise, their future together will be over before it begins.
Blake (Eidolon Black Ops ~ Book 2) is the first book in the anthology An Eidolon Box Set that I borrowed from the Kindle Unlimited Program.
Calvin Blake is the playboy of the Eidolon Black Ops Security Team and he meets his perfect match in Gracie Paxton or as she is known Pax. She asks for his help, surprise with a family situation back in the states. After a beating, a trip to the States and coming to an understanding, they find they can't resist each other. A trip to her parents home in the States, lots of shooting and danger at every turn keeps the pace fast and the story moving. In this one some things are not what it seems and they finally identify the traitor in the Eidolon Group, although he is in deep hiding and yet to be found. I love a happy ending for Gracie and Cal and look forward to the next book in the series.
Blake will wrap you up in a warm cocoon of safety, protection, and sexiness. It's an incredible feeling to experience while reading and immersing oneself in Blake and Pax's adventures.
When I read Blake, the one thought that ran through my mind is I felt safe. Of course, that is to be expected since Blake's specialty is close protection and protect he does. Ms Wade manages to showcase how exemplary Blake's skills are without skipping a beat. While he's being protective, he's also caring, allows Pax her independence and recognises her strength as a woman and an individual. Blake is a man who knows what he wants and is not afraid to go after it, not that he started off that way with Pax, but once he made up his mind about what he wanted, the pursuit was on. Even though Pax needed protection and care because of the circumstances she found herself in, at no point did he ever minimise Pax's worth. He always respected her and honored her for who she was and what she was capable of doing.
I liked Pax a lot. While the Zenobi women are all kickasz women, Pax is a refreshing change. Skilled and competent in her own way, integral in the operations and running of Zenobi, she's not an operative. I liked that she was vulnerable not only physically in her own defense, but also emotionally from the hurt and pain of the earlier years. Even so, she is not helpless and she knows when to ask for help. It was wonderful to see Blake break down her emotional barriers and help her understand her own worth.
I'm liking the direction this new spin-off series is taking. It refocuses all the heart and sense of family from the Fortis series into the men who make up Eidolon highlighting their skill, their sense of honor, and their willingness to fight for what they believe in.
With the mystery of the traitor in Eidolon hanging over them, I can't wait to see what direction the next books take as the men in Eidolon deal with the betrayal of one of their own.
Every time after finishing reading previous book im patiently waiting for next one in series. And not one had made me disappointed. This is Blakes and Pax story. And its packed full with action, suspense, romance, friendships. I love how Maddie makes you fall in live with every heroe and heroine. I always loved protective alpha heroes and sassy heroines who know what they want and goes for it. Thanks Maddie for one more amazing book. I definetely recommend for eceryone to read it. U wont be disappointed.
Blake is the 2nd book in this series and another action packed story. This is Calvin Blake and Gracie Paxton's romance. Blake is the playboy of the Eidolon Black Ops group,he doesn't tie himself down to one woman with his muscular build and sexy playful smile woman fall for him at the drop of a hat. Pax is a member of the Zenobi group of female assassins, she runs the place but finds herself in a situation that has her going to Blake for help. She is smart and sexy and a bit mysterious and has captured Blakes attention. Instead of asking her group for help with her problem she feels that Blake is the way to go as he could get her undercover at the palace. There is a big storyline involving Pax's Father and drug testing but there is an underline storyline that is threaded through the first book too. There is a Traitor in Blake's group of men that keeps sabotaging their missions. Anyway Blake agrees reluctantly to help Pax and as he is trying to protect her the need to sleep with her becomes overwhelming. But he discovers it is so much more than just sex for him and he wants to pursue something with Pax. Pax is the unsure one she has feelings for Blake but she is the one holding back, she is in so much danger and confusion and it seems the only place she feels safe is with Blake. I really enjoyed this story it was very intriguing and steamy.. Chris Winrow narrates this story and I really liked his voice, his accents were great from English to American and Male to Female.Actually it was a shock to the system at first as I am so used to listening to American Narrators..that when his English voice came into my ears,I was pleasantly surprised..lol.. This is another Fabulous read or listen and very entertaining it kept my interest throughout. I Loved it. Magnificent !! 5 Stars.
Blake An Eidolon Black Ops Novel By: Maddie Wade Narrated by: Chris Winrow Series: Eidolon Black Op, Book 2
Maddie Wade pens another captivating and action packed romantic suspense that takes you to the edge of your seat and has you wondering not only what is going to happen next but who is behind it all. Grace Paxton, a trained assassin, usually targets others, but she is now someone’s target and they made an attempt on her life. She had gone to Blake, an operative for Eidolon, asking for help, hesitant about it until he sees she was in danger. It all becomes complicated, the connection with the case she wanted Blake to investigate, her family drama and then the drama going on in Eidolon, trying to figure out who is leaking info and betraying them. I adored both lead characters, Grace and Blake, they were great together and for each other, not to mention the chemistry between them which was sizzling hot. I loved how everything played out in this book, it is well written and well plotted with plenty of drama, a touch of angst, action, twists and turns, mystery, thrilling suspense, heartfelt emotions and a wonderful romance. Maddie Wades, thank you for another fantastic story.
🎧📚🎧 Chris Winrow did a great job bringing these characters to life, humanizing them, giving each their own distinct voice and personality, making it easy to follow along and tell who is who. He had a complete understanding of the characters he portrayed, captured all the characters’ emotions, and projected them into his performance. Chris Winrow is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for the terrific listen.
This is the first book I have read by this author. I listened to the audiobook and thought the narration waa pretty good. Blake was the 2nd book in the Eidolon Ops series, can be read as a stand-alone, and is still a good read.
Being honest, I did feel like I had come in as a newbie in a group of long standing friends. I imagine part of it was because I hadn't read the first book, "Alex".
The relationship between the women at Zenobi who Pax worked with, Rosalind's two kids, Jack and Rosalind's dislike of one another, are all examples of feeling like I was late to the party. These people all had previous interactions, and I am not sure that all of the relationships occurred in the first book.
Pax had a convoluted relationship with both of her parents. Those relationships play an integral part in the story, and has a significant effect on Pax's feeling of worth. Calvin Blake, the playboy, changed his behavior for one person. After Blake becomes involved with his supremely protect nature, he and Pax develop a relationship that allows her to blossom.
" Blake" was full of romance, heat, emotion, action, suspense, danger, and intrigue. There were a few details regarding previous relationships. I would have appreciated having the knowledge that some characters may have appeared in other books and/or series. I also happen to be one of those anal people that likes to read books in order.
I also have "Gunner". I will have to start with Alex and work my way to Gunner's book. I am looking forward to it. Based on what I have read/listened to so far, it should be both an enjoyable as well as satisfying journey.
Since the first Fortis novel till now, I have been addicted, to include the Alliance Agency, seriously, you are making me nuts! Next Eidolon Reid, Yeah just came out, next !, Then whichever one of the series has the next release, I am on it!
Every single one of these novels, regardless of which series, has simply been unable to out down from beginning to end. Then I immediately start the next book available, hmmmmm .... Can you ship the out quicker...? Lol I know when each series is completed, I will be in total withdrawal!
Your novels are not just suspense, they're jealousy, shocking reveals, serial killers, good Lord, you have it all! At no point in any one of your books have I felt a "slow" part, or hung in there hoping it would pick up! From beginning to end, each and every novel has kept me from oh, doing dishes, washing clothes, planting a fortune in flowers sitting on decks and porches waiting, because I simply cannot put your amazing writing down! And on that note, Reid's character and his story await, and yep, straight to it. There will be other days for what "must" be done, after all it's going nowhere till I do it!
Blake Eidolon Black Ops 2 By: Maddie Wade Narrated by: Chris Winrow
First, I need to figure out how this is my first Maddie Wade book. Romance, suspense, action, love, all the things needed to create an amazing fast paced story! Grace Paxton, a female assassin seeks the help of Calvin Blake. Blake is everything a woman wants, but he will never commit, and Pax's request is just too much. Until it's not. Not only is he going to help her prove her father's guilt, but she is under his skin. The question is, will he be able to keep her safe, love her and complete his mission? Talk about excitement! This book has it in spades. Pax is a strong woman, willing do to do just about anything to reach her goal. Blake is determined to do what he has to, but his feelings are going to be his downfall. Twists, turns and an unexpected villain all lead to an incredible end! This book is fabulous!
Chris Winrow gives a very good performance. Great with his many voices and accents, he brings this story to life through ups and downs, spicy scenes and suspense. I enjoyed his performance.
Eidolon operator Calvin Blake was still on medical leave when Zenobi support/heiress Grace Paxton asked for his help. Blake refuses because of past unpleasant dealings with Royals and he finds Pax much too tempting. Since Blake’s not yet approved for his regular work, Jack suggests Blake help find the traitor and help Pax resolve the issue with her dad.
When Blake goes to Pax’ to offer his help, he finds her badly beaten and vows to not only help with her dad but also find the culprit and avenge her. While defending Pax and her home, Blake’s re-injured in the same spot supporting the theory of a traitor. With no clues on either case, Pax and Blake look into clues of her father’s wrongdoing and a teammate or two is suddenly unavailable.
To this reader’s taste, at the outset the outing seems as if it’ll be CR instead of RS but the multi-layered major threads redeem themselves with sufficient twists, turns and depth making this quite a worthy read. It is also a tale where discussion of highlights gives away all the goodies. Rating: 4.5stars
Blake, Eidolon Black Ops Book 2, has a lot of suspense and romance. The Eidolon group is going through an internal crisis that starts in Book 1. Although this is Pax and Blake’s story I really like the subplot, that keeps me reeled in and wanting more.
The book is short and some parts move far too quickly but this does not take away from the story. I’m totally invested in this team and want to know what’s going to happen next in Reid.
I was unfortunately not a fan of the narration. Chris Winrow had a sexy voice with a to die for British accent but his delivery was not what I’d expect for an audiobook narration with no different voices intonations for different characters and pauses when no pause in the speech is necessary or required.
Blake and pax’s story is a must read with lots of action packed into a story of love desire and betrayal on a huge scale. This series of the eidolon boys ain’t a mix of the fortis boys and Zenobi woman each one has more of each of them and finding each of they’re backgrounds and them finding a forever love in a strong woman who can put them in their place when needed show them how much they mean and love dearly. A highly recommended series I can’t wait for more.
The spark that ignited in Monaco when Pax and Blake first met (in book one, Alex) turns into a wildfire in Blake. Although they worked an op together, once they were done that was it. Until she came to him with an unusual request. Keeping her safe is now his focus while trying to figure out the who the players are and what their game is. Family drama and a revenge driven nemesis makes things dicey. Giving into their feelings wasn't part of the plan but it was inevitable and oh so right!
Grace is looking for information to stop her father from killing another child in a failed drug trail, Blake is the smooth playboy that never keeps any of his women
I would recommend this book and series for mature readers only (sexual content) that enjoy reading stories that are funny, steamy, suspenseful, and romantic, with scenes so hot you will think your tablet might ignite. Well done.
Blake had his eye on Pax, aka Gracie, for a while. When he found out that she had been beaten up he jumped in to protect her. All leads sent them to the US. Amongst the other guys that went with them a traitor seems to be one step ahead of them. Time is running out. The name will be soon known. And Blake along with Gracie will be given freedom to pursue their own love life.
This was my first Maddie Wade’s book and won’t be my last. This is the second book in the Eidolon Black Ops Series, a Romantic Suspense, a standalone in an ongoing series. Blake and Grace’s story is entertaining and captivating, filled with drama, danger, action, and romance. The supporting characters are great and intriguing. Chris Winrow did a great job with the narration. I enjoyed it. Looking forward for more in the series. #SpectrumAudiobooks
Calvin Blake, alpha man, playboy, becomes involved with Grace. It's his nature to protect. It becomes apparent that their feelings towards each other develops throughout this story. Danger, excitement, suspenseful story. Chris Winrow makes this an enjoyable listen. I was gifted this audio an offered my honest review.
Another fascinating and intriguing story in this ongoing series. Full of drama and suspense and intrigue plus love. I can’t wait to see what happens next. Fabulous narration too
This audiobook has heat, suspense, intrigue and HEA. Chris Winrow was great at changing accents to include various American male and female, as well as his natural British. Book is well written with great flow and characters.
Poor Pax has been through the wringer. It was awesome to see her change from the standoffish, aloof woman and become more open and allow herself to lean on someone.
The traitor storyline was intriguing and can’t wait to read the conclusion
Another supence mystery romance. This one takes you from United Kingdom to the United States. It has a lot of emotions running through the story line and the characters are like family.
Another great story by Maddie. Loved the main characters, storyline was fab mixed together with a happily ever after ending. Great to read as standalone.
New author to me. Lots of action and a fast-paced story with twists. A good amount of sexy times. I enjoyed both characters and their chemistry. Looking forward to the rest of the series.
Audio - The narrator, Chris Winrow, is new to me. I enjoyed his British accent. He did a good job but was a bit robotic at times. Still, lots of potential.
