A collection of smaller books on 8 different topics from the American Revolution up through the Gulf War. None of the individual books are exhaustive in their topic due to the length of each book but each is a good high-level overview of the topics to drive further reading. A good source of reading as it is a free read on Amazon Prime Reading as of the time of my review.

Overall, it is a good book. It could have been reviewed and edited a bit better, but still a good read. However, it seems to skip the entire cold war era, including the korean war and vietnam war, but still goes on giving a full chapter about Oprah?? Other than that i enjoyed the book.

As an immigrant always wanted to learn more about USA history. Interesting to learn there were 2 presidents during the civil war and the war could have gone either way until 1865. Very sad to learn about the fate of Native Indians though!

Great overview of American History. Not terribly partisan: doesn’t glorify America and ignore its problems, nor does it constantly treat it as a villain. No Marxist horseshit. What more to ask for?
