It’s such a rare and wonderful feeling to read a book that inspires me to be a better person. I am delighted to report that this is one such book. This collection of wisdom on the importance of kindness offers quotes from a wide range of inspirational sources, from the Bible to the Dalai Lama. With its small pieces of good advice, paired with charming illustrations and hosted by the world’s most laid-back cat, this book is sure to delight children and adults alike. Yes, it’s a kids’ book. But it’s also an everybody book.
Dean compiles a set of quotes about kindness and uses illustrations of Pete to show the points. This is a great read together book so families can discuss what the various quotes mean and how they can all practice being kind.
My little guy (6yo), who is autistic, struggles to sit through most books, unless they're pretty darn engaging. I didn't know that this book would be a collection of profound quotes about kindness, and if I had known, I would have skipped on buying it for my son. But, he was completely engrossed by his hero, Pete, and all of the grown up words in the book. I think that he got it.
Plus, Pete added his little quotes about kindness, in his own groovy voice. I was pleasantly surprised at the depth of this book, and even more so by the hold that it had on my son. He has already asked me to read it again and again.
The illustrations are cute. I love the Pete the Cat character. This isn't a story though. It's just a few quotes about kindness and it's not super memorable. So far my son doesn't show any interest in this book. He prefers other Pete the Cat books.
I'm going to steal a quote from this book to accurately explain it. "Kind people are the best kind of people." That could be changed to say "Kind books are the best kind of books." The ones that inspire us to help others, to treat them with respect. This book is a collection of quotes from famous people and others promoting kinds, love, and giving. The kind of quotes we could all stand to read on a daily basis to remind us even when we're stressed or frustrated, how we treat others matters. This book matters. It's the perfect gift for graduating seniors to take with them wherever they go. Or really anyone embarking on a new journey. Final Verdict: A book that will inspire us to be better than we are with deep quotes, bright and engaging illustrations, and a theme we won't soon forget.
3.5 stars-- We all can use an extra bit of kindness. This is a sweet book that celebrates the act of being kind with a collection of "famous figure" quotations along with Pete and his friends demonstrating simple acts of helpfulness and compassion. This isn't a story; more like the children's equivalent of a coffee table book, but it's hard to argue with the concept and the need to share the importance of being nice!
I feel kind of bad giving this book 2/5 stars ⭐️ but like it’s literally just a quote book. That’s honestly on me for not realizing it from the title. But this is not really a fun book to read to a kid, I can’t even imagine anyone really liking it unless they just really like quotes. Illustrations are good though! Overall, recommending at your own risk.
Different from most Pete the Cat books, this one is just a quote about kindness juxtapose to an image of Pete the Cat acting out a kind act. Sometimes Pete will say something about kindness. There is no story and is a quick read.
Cute for Pete the Cat fans to see more drawings of him but I was expecting something a little more engaging than just a bunch of re-quotes based on other Pete the Cat books so this was a little disappointing to me.
I LOVE THIS BOOK! It is full of great quotes from the ancient past to the present regarding kindness. Great and colorful illustrations. This is a fun and inspiring book! Highly recommended for Grades K-5.
I was anticipating a cute story about kindness featuring a kid's favorite, Pete, but instead it's just some new illustrations and a bunch of quotes about kindness. This will not work for the littles that I deal with.
I was hoping it would be a little more fun like other Pete the cat books, but it is mainly quotes and pictures. At least half of the quotes could be confusing to understand for littles, but they would enjoy the illustrations!
Kindness is a focus at the school I work at. This book provides me with a great collection of quotes about kindness. I would have given it 4 stars but I found it a tad repetitive.
It's mystifying to me...but our daughter loves Pete the Cat. I will always be more of a fan of Clifford, but I guess it's all about personal preference.
We LOVE these book. However, this book was not for the younger kids. They were not into the different quotes. They wanted a story. This book didn’t keep their attention well.
