This is a delightful collection of poems which combine contemporary life with a variety of old forms, a slanted view on the familiar and references back through mythology and literature. Robert Smith is Apollo, while still very much himself; children at funfairs are astronauts; ghost flowers haunt London streets and mushrooms embody their vows of silence. All of the poems are intelligent and experimental, playful and accessible. A worthy winner of the Poetry Business Competition.

I heartily recommend this wonderful collection: Robert Smith, David Beckham, beached whales, Lady Macbeth, mementos mori... And #MeToo
