Author of: When I Find You Confessions Of An IT Employee The Murder Of Jay Shekhar
Since I plan to be going into the IT field myself, this book couldn't have arrived at my doorstep at a better time. Shalini has given us a tragic but true, HONEST look into the dark side of this world. We have village-girl Bhoomija who's trying to make it big in the city, rich-girl Sanchita who's questioning whether she's cut out for this and the gorgeous Alisha who finds it difficult to ward off advances by coworkers without it impacting her career. Office politics, malicious team leads, unsupportive coworkers, family issues - you name it, this book has covered it. What stood out about this book is its relatability factor, be it the countless Bangalore references or the characters that I'm sure we've all encountered in our own lives. If you're looking to get into the IT industry and want to go in with your eyes open, give this one a read!
Sanchita, a misunderstood IT employee falls in the trap of corporate world and her devil of a boss who is playing dirty politics with her. Bhoomija, a village girl who has come to this urban crowd to make an indentity of her own and find a voice. Alisha, a modern, confident woman who wants to move to the US with her long-time control freak boyfriend. Nishant , a guy overshadowed by his successful siblings, who thinks he has no talent. But fate has other plans for them. What happens when they finally understand their true potential and resurface again with a new zeal for life? Can friendship and love survive in the corporate battle?
Confessions of An IT Employee is a corporate fiction mixed with love and friendship. The book follows a twenty-two year old Sanchita walking into the footsteps of others around her to find an IT job just to fulfill the dream of her parents, oblivious to her own desire to become a writer. When she joins a company she comes across different personalities who slowly becomes an integral part of her life.
For the characters I would say I don't see much development in them. Sanchita did changed a bit, she came out of her shell to defend her interest and Bhoomija changed from a shy village girl to more confident person but still at the end Bhoomija's and Alisha's characters are dropped abruptly.
Writing style is good. The setting of the story is unique but it lost its essence at the end.
In a nutshell the idea behind this book is good but it created lot of unnecessary mess in the story. The plots were all messed up for me and didn't make a lasting impression. Overall an okay read.
For some reason, this book feels more like the author's memoir masquerading as fiction. If that is indeed the case, it could have been presented directly as a memoir.
That said, the characters in the story had the potential for greater depth and dimension. Instead, we got a lot of uneventful and often uninteresting dialogue that did little to spike curiosity.
While interesting themes were touched upon, they were only superficially explored.
The plot of the book is well developed, and the struggles of a corporate employee have been captured in minute detail. Shalini has picked up anecdotes that would resonate with most of the people who have experience in the corporate world. The second aspect that the book tackles is that of one’s own dreams, and how as a society we have made suppression of those dreams in pursuit of money a norm, rather than an exception. Another aspect that is explored in the book is that of friendships and relationships, and important they are to a person’s life and sanity. The language of the book is quite simple, easy-to-understand, and context specific. I loved how situations were used to propel the story forward, though at some places I felt that a connect between scenes was missing. The title of the book is a bit misleading though since there are no confessions or any IT-specific incidents. The climax is quite imaginative though expected.
Coming to the characters, Sanchita’s character has been given proper time to develop, and she is the one who steals the show, specially in the latter part of the story. Bhoomija’s character was well done, and her development from a village simpleton to an urban girl was interesting, though I feel that while she was a part of the story initially, her character god sidelined in the middle of the book. Nishant as a character appeared only intermittently, though I would have loved to see more of him during the course of the story.
A book that felt more realistic, straight from heart, unfiltered, showing out the real time experience of an IT employee. Though I'm not in the field, I have friends who are in it and I could relate more with every incident that takes place in the book. Stressful job, working with no real fulfillment in heart, the bosses and managers who spies, colleagues who aren't trustful, and a lot more.
Sanchita joines as a newbie IT employee, where she finds the whole situation tangled. She wants to become a writer, her dream since childhood. Would she break the barriers and reach there? Alisha, her best friend and colleague, plans to move to US with her boyfriend but fate had other plans. This book shows the overall scenario of IT firm through the lives of Sanchita, Bhoomija, Nishanth and Alisha.
A very simple writing style. Beginner friendly. A few typos distracted me, except that I enjoyed reading the book. I could relate too much with Sanchita in the scene where she let's out about her dream to Chetan, one of her colleagues who often turns philosophic and advices them to leave the work and start doing what they love. He critizies her when she says she wants to become a writer, like, 'is it even possible?' I had faced many such criticisms too. Maybe that is exactly where I could connect more with the novel.
All IT employees and also others would love this book. Recommended read!
Confessions of an IT employee written by Shalini Sawkar is such a real life entity. As the book name says it's confession and confessions are always special, naughty, serious and honest. And being from IT industry I could relate to every word of this book. From the build up of the plot to the end it's just superb. Language used is simple and attractive. Cover itself tells you so much about the story. Author has beautifully described the problems and complexities of life and also how to deal with it.
Tha story is about 4 characters their complicated lives, passion, dream job, regret and many more. The best part of the story is it shows you the real life mirror, how one wring decision can make your life miserable and how a person goes into depression and heart break.
Every chapter, every nook and every corner has so much to give you. And best part is every character has a different story for you, so it's not just one story but more than one which will entertain you for sure. So to enjoy the rest please go and read the Book. Recommended 👍
Okay, so seriously this book tells a lot about the things, the pressure, the attitude towards the job more precisely how to please & flatter your bosses.
Shalini P.Sawkar courageously penned down her thoughts on what it takes to be IT employee with the elements of passion, regret, love and hope. Many young readers may find this book - like they are reading their lives manuscript. This is because the author has tried to put the thing as relatable as she can also putting some elements of fiction as well.
Comes to the story then this book revolves around the characters - Sanchita, Alisha, Nishant & Bhoomija all of them facing their ups and downs and battling between Desire, finding passion, being a part of the crowd.....and many more other things. If you want to know more about these characters then you have simply grab this book. 😁📖✍
IT sector is probably one of the only fields which hires raw and real talent as it still is fortunately out of realms of reservation curse that has lowered the quality of all the other jobs. I being a btech graduate myself after letting go various offers from top notch MNCs pursued my passion of training but my cousins are actively and largely involved in IT so was able to relate with most things mentioned in this book.
The book gives a sneak peak into the sorry state of affairs for most IT employees who are not satisfied either due to lack of job satisfaction or their horrendous bosses. Weaving the story around four characters : Sanchita, Alisha, Nishant & Bhoomija author has tried to portray life through their spectacles. How work life balance becomes just an illusion after entering into the IT is well encapsulated.
I liked most of the things about the book. The engaging storyline ,a fascinating cover and a perfect title it seems to have it all . But I kind of felt all throughout the book that there is too much condemnation and readers are shown the not so bright side of IT much more than the vibrant one. I mean if someone is planning into entering IT sector and picks this book most probably he or she will be dissuaded from joining it and all his dreams that he harboured will kind of shatter. As I already mentioned , having lots of cousins and friends in the same field ,I can certainly say they are in much better position whether financially or other aspects than their counterparts who are pursuing something else or belong to different field. I kind of feel that we often see the sector in a dim light generally which doesn't do justice to the sheer number of jobs and employment it provides to millions of people and also it certainly has many more pros than cons , amongst which financial growth certainly tops the list .
Notwithstanding such glaring shortcomings it is certainly a decent book if taken explicitly as author's account and not as a generic life of IT employees but I am afraid if one is rationale enough to see things in such a perspective.
Confessions of an IT employee is a story about a girl named Sanchita living in Bangalore. She is having her best friend named Nishant, who is been fighting to become a successful person as already he is having some sort of pressure as his siblings are well settled than him. When Sanchita joined an IT company she met Bhoomija. A girl who came from village to a big city for job. How does she manage herself in a different environment is shown here. Sanchita is having a friend in office, Alisha who had relationship issues. Now despite of having relationship issues, how she manage her job is described here.
Talking about Sanchita, this story clearly tells about living our dreams. It tells about going to the area where you actually find peace and joy. It doesn't matter if your first step is wrong then everything will be wrong. You need to take that step where you actually feel satisfied in your life and discover the real you. Story starts from college time, where most of us can find that 'getting placed' pressure. Now moving ahead it tells many hardships a person, especially a fresher has to face after joining IT company. How nicely a fresher will be suppressed by middle level management, his leave won't be approved easily, he will be monitored whole time, year end rating, etc. are amazingly described
Believe me, If you are working in IT company or had worked here, you are surely going to relate many things here. For me, this book was so amazing, I actually felt that author have written my own story. It was a fun and light read for me that I finished it within few hours. The language used is easy and the story is fast paced, so even a beginner can read this book easily. What I still feel that the book is more focused on Inspirational genre rather than Rom-Com. But the best part is that you will not loose your connection with the book. Recommended to everyone!

The Crux: 🔖 Confessions of an IT employee by Shalini P. Sawkar is a story of Sanchita who struggles and misunderstood employee in an IT firm but with a dream of becoming a writer. The cover page and title are so attractive which grabs the readers attention mainly, if you are having a physical copy of it. The narration, character development, plot everything is developed well. I love the way how Sanchita is handling her issues and her bonding with Nishant is adorable. The author has done a fantastic job by narrating a Freshers experience in an IT Firm. A must-read for all the IT employees. A well developed and honest story about the corporate world. I would like to recommend and dedicate this book to all the IT employees.
Pursuing an engineering degree and getting a job in a renowned IT company, is that settles your life or is there something hidden that awaits you. The story here "Confessions of an IT employee" by author Shalini P Sawkar is such a story of Sanchita who gets placed in one of the MNC IT company in bangalore but faces multiple things during her job. The story focusses on office politics, favoritism and many other aspects that an IT engineer can relate to at some point of time in his or her career. The book has multiple lovable tag lines and quotes that prove correct in this corporate world. Book emphasises on colleagues, employment bonds and how people try to move up in the eyes of their superiors. The story is simple and realistic enough that focuses on chasing your dreams rather than following the crowd. Confessions are bitter but real and it takes courage to confess the reality. The story is great enough to be read by any one. I liked the way an MLM person's take is shown in this book, and it was quite funny to read it. The cover of the book in cool blue looks great and the title was the one which attracted me to get the copy to read it. Story is short and can be completed in a single day. Language used is simple and lucid. Characters portrayed seems to come out in real life. Author has really done a great work in this story by narrating the thoughts of a fresher and experienced in an IT company in the form of a great story. Last I would say, it is always best to follow your dreams.
"Confessions of an IT Employee" is an engaging read that resonates deeply with anyone who has navigated the corporate world. The story is rich with intrinsic details, capturing the essence of the protagonist's journey from placement season through to the challenges of a new job, the excitement of making new friends, and the inevitable relationship problems.
The narrative is highly relatable, presenting a vivid portrayal of corporate life that feels authentic and lived-in. Each event is meticulously detailed, making the reader feel as though they are experiencing the protagonist's ups and downs firsthand.
Bhoomija's character stands out for me. Her journey is simple yet profound.
However, the book could have benefited from more elaboration on Alisha and Nishant's characters. While they are interesting in their own right, their stories feel somewhat underdeveloped. A deeper exploration of their backgrounds and motivations would have added more layers to the narrative.
Overall, "Confessions of an IT Employee" is a must-read for anyone in the corporate sector.
Cofessions of An IT employee shares the story of a journey... Journey to change the mind frame of everyone. It reflects upon the impotant aspect such as following your dreams.
This is a contemporary book set in Bangalore and I just loved the way I could relate to it. It is written in a very simple yet an extremely interesting and easy-to-read way. The book moves at a steady pace and is engaging. I wish the author best of luck for her future endeavors.
I came across this book when I went to a book fair by story box in Bengaluru. The author was herself promoting the book and she reached out to me to see if I will be interested in buying the book. I was skeptical at first to be honest but the title and the brief kind of intrigued me and I thought why not. Thanks to Shalini for signing the book for me.
Coming to the book now, I think overall it was a good engaging storyline.Definitely relatable for not only people working in IT but in corporate in general to some extent as the book gives a glimpse of office buddies, office politics, toxic manager and environment and that one creepy guy we all know :D
I liked the characters overall introduced in the books and the buildup and the way the growth/ transformation of protagonist herself and Bhoomija has been portrayed. Somewhere I do feel that the character of Raghav was not written to have that strong lasting image or prominence and was just used to fill the gaps here and there. His character didn't make much sense to me. The book had a good pace for the major part but somewhere towards the end things seemed to start overlapping a lot and there were some sudden scene changes that kind of made me feel it was being rushed now and too many things are being fitted together. The conclusion was expected but it was well written. The turn of events in the office added a nice twist though. However, considering how the story moved, it would have made more sense to have a little more storyline of Nishant too because he sort of was important in the beginning but he vanished suddenly for the most part of the book apart from a few random mentions here and there and then he came back again at the end.
Also, I just hope it can be proof read again and edited for grammatical errors and typo issues that I found at a couple of places.
In all, I enjoyed reading this book and definitely recommend it to people looking for a light read :)
This book revolves around a girl who did her engineering, has a job, hates her boss and vice versa, but her passion lies elsewhere. She starts experiencing the real life after her studies and makes a friend who stabs her and a friend who stays by her side. Her boss hates her and troubles her a lot. But she finally stands up to her boss and later starts pursuing her dreams.
This story is not only for people in IT field or people who will enter the IT field in the future, but for everyone who works or will work in the future as it talks about the difficulties and joy that one can find in the working world. Overall, it is a brilliantly written book that will help you to follow your actual dream and is a must read.
Being a corporate employee in bangalore it was all so relatable I could closely relate to all the college drama during placements also Overall it was a good read
Reminded me of my Campus recruitment and early office days. Such simple and well written book. From characters to the scenes, everything was so good. More than a book it felt like a manuscript of life.
“You May win, or you may lose. You will not know unless you take a step forward in the direction of your dreams. In the end, it is never about success or failure, it is about doing something that brings you joy.”
The book is a quick read. For an outsider, it gives the inner workings of an IT company. Be it the office politics or personal relationships, the dark and the bright side of it all can be seen here. However, the end seems a bit rushed. Author can come up with a sequel on what it takes one to quit a job and build one's own path.
We came across Shalini in book fair and got this book with her signature. And thanking universe that I’ve met a great author. Thoroughly enjoyed the book. Completed this book in a day. Book - Confessions Of An IT Employee Author - Shalini P. Sawkar
The story of the book - "Confessions Of An IT Employee", revolves around four characters - Sanchita, Bhoomija, Nishant and Alisha.
Sanchita was in her final year of Engineering, when a well- known multinational company at her college organised mass recruitment and she finally got placement. Though, she was able to find a job and fulfill her parents dream, but deep within she knew that she never wanted to be part of the IT world. And above that, she falls into depression, because she was misunderstood by her boss, parents and her boyfriend, even though, she always tried her best to do everything properly. Will she be able to fulfill her dream?
Bhoomija, was from Palamaner, a village to south of Andhra. She was an only child to her parents and they were landowners in the village. She came to the city to fit into the urban crowd and live a better life. Will she be able to fit into the urban world? Will she be able to find her true self?
Nishant, was a happy-go-lucky guy, who always smile and try to cheer his friends. But deep down, he feels that he can never be perfect like his successful siblings, who were older than him and they also always keep a close watch on him, which he doesn't like. He spends most of his times in bar and feels himself useless. Will his life change? Who will change his game?
Alisha, was a gorgeous girl who had caramel hair that fell in cascades to her shoulders. She always wanted to move to the United States with her long-term boyfriend and live her dream life. But then, fate plays his unexpected card. Will she be able to live her dream life?
I really liked reading this story. All the characters are well-developed. I personally liked the way author narrated the relationship between the characters and the struggles in the life of IT employees. The twist and turns makes it even more engaging. The language used is simple and easy to understand. The cover of the book is really pretty. Overall, the story was all about friendship, love, depression, struggle to survive in the corporate world and to fulfill the childhood dreams. I would highly recommend this book.
This book was a really simple read with a lot of thought enticing situations and things which go on with the characters.. •• It was quite the ride.. the story flowed smoothly and talks about the politics in the workings of the corporate world with various realistic concepts.! •• The story revolves around our main character Sanchita’s and her friends experince from college placement to their first job and all the hardships that come along with it involving bosses from hell, endless traffic jams, a mundane routine and various things going on with all of them facing their own challenges and how they all try to overcome them.. •• This book was really honest & It was quite relatable as to how we tend to go for studying the "popular" courses and having no real goals of interest instead of pursuing what we know is our dreams deep inside our hearts because of the judgments from society and having non-supportive parents with their constant nagging and some unhealthy work competition which make you feel if you’re doing anything right at all.! •• This books makes you think about how much our own mental health is so important and how self love is mandatory which involves doing what you love and having the courage to follow your passions instead of being depressingly stuck in failing to impress others by working on something you don’t enjoy and love… It shows a lot about work attitude, pressure and emotional impact work has on a person affecting their mind and life…. •• This story will leave you wondering, are you brave enough to follow your passions instead of a routine you don’t enjoy.. Is it worth it to damage true friendships in a corporate battle for ratings when you’re not really getting anywhere from it!? If you want to know wether the characters overcome these various difficulties and how they come out to the end of the story, you should go pick this book up.. •• It is a really easy read which I breezed through in less than a day.. I really liked it and couldn’t put it down to the end.. •• Thankyou to the author for sending a copy my way in exchange for an honest review.
Review: Confession of an IT employee Author: Shalini P. sawkar Publisher: Kalamos Literary Services Genre: Fiction Rating: 3.8/5
• This book revolves around the ups and downs of characters Sanchita, Alisha, Nishant and Bhoomija. Nishant and Sanchita are college friends and then after placement they got separated but somehow Sanchita manage meeting up with Nishant when she feels low. Nishant gives him the comfort she desires. Sanchita, Bhoomija and Alisha is working in same IT company. • Sanchita is a high-profile girl and trying to impress her boss Kavana, who might be jealous of Sanchita because she dresses up very nicely, comes in luxury car. • On the other hand, Bhoomija comes from an outskirt of Andhra Pradesh and trying to adjust in such crowd where she must change her look completely so that people can talk to her. Somehow Kavana is impressed by her and you can slightly see how she is favouring Bhoomija on top of Sanchita. • Alisha is planning to relocate in US with her long time boyfriend. • All of them has different passion. Read this book to know, are they going to escape from this work culture or continue there passion, or they are going to learn and live.
My opinion: • This whole story is revolving around the politics in any IT industry, its even relatable to those who are non-IT professional. • How boss favour someone specific, irrespective to who deserves it or not, how they will replace you quickly, how taking single day leave is difficult for one employee and on the other side someone is on leave for whole week. If you can connect with these pointers, then read this one.
Beautifully written story The story is written in a simple and lucid which can be enjoyed by every one. It's a realistic story of the Corporate world and every new employee can relate to me. Once you start reading it, it is irritating to leave it. Characters of Sanchita, Alisha, Nishant and Bhoomika are beautifully portrayed. Story is fast paced and you can't afford to miss any word. It motivates the youngsters to pursue their dreams which they dump under pressure of family and society and make a career in Corporates. I would recommend every youngster to read this story
