Part 1Zoe Holloway is a high-powered attorney who has always taken financial care of her fly-by-night younger brother, Tucker. When Tucker’s fiancée goes missing a week before their wedding, Zoe has her own ideas as to why the trailer-park queen disappeared, but she keeps those opinions to herself… That is until she hires Stone Investigations, and Greg Stone specifically, to hunt down the missing woman.Greg Stone is determined to find the missing fiancée before anything bad happens to her. But Zoe keeps getting in his way, and before long, he sees her as more than the overly intelligent, know-it-all lawyer who hired him. Greg begins to see Zoe as his perfect match.Part 2Jennifer Langdon is a workaholic GP who lives in a beachside bungalow and enjoys the lazy rhythm of Harper’s Bay when she isn’t giving flu shots or trying to figure out the source of her patients’ odd rashes. She comes from a big family, and family is important to her, but somehow she’s never managed to meet the right man to settle down with and start a family of her own. The baby bug has bitten her, though. She wants one—and because of it, she jumps at the chance to babysit her two-year-old niece any time the occasion arises, which is often. But one day when she’s babysitting and checks her cell phone while her niece is playing on the beachside playground, that’s all the time it takes for the little girl to disappear into thin air.Part 3Cara loves her father more than anyone in the world. She runs Fancy’s, the best seafood restaurant in Harper’s Bay, and while her father owns the place, he gives her free rein and full control, breezing in only for dinner each night in his crisply tailored suits. But one night when Cara’s father doesn’t show up for his steak and merlot dinner as always, she instantly knows something is terribly wrong. And soon her budding relationship with Tom shifts away from romantic flirtation and into the mysterious territory of trying to figure out what happened to Joseph “Fat Joe” Conway.Part 4Professional surfer April Chase has traveled the world, from Hawaii to Indonesia. Along the way, she developed a close friendship with fellow surfer, Bethany Waterbury, who falls in love with the next town they arrive at to compete—Harper’s Bay. But the night before the big surfing competition, Bethany goes missing. The media flies into a frenzy, and soon people start to suspect that April had something to do with it in an attempt to “knock out the competition.” Nothing could be further from the truth, which is why April needs the help of Stone Investigations, and William specifically, to help find her missing friend.Part 5Matthew Stone has always been a loner, but a lone man would be nothing without man’s best friend, and Matt’s best friend is Rudy, a Rottweiler whose bark is far worse than his bite. Rudy has never bitten anyone, and Matt knows he wouldn’t, but he’s been getting dirty looks and a complaint or two about Rudy’s daytime whining. He’s never thought to hire a dog walker, but when he does, he quickly discovers that there’s at least one woman in Harper’s Bay who isn’t afraid of his intimidating dog. Could it be a sign?Meanwhile, Hurricane Jane presses in on Harper’s Bay, and the brothers of Stone Investigations work tirelessly to close in on Abigail Gardner’s real killer—but what Greg, Luke, Tom, Will, and Matt discover is far more disturbing than any of them could’ve ever imagined.
I really enjoyed these books, even though the editing needs work. (Grammarly?) The characters are engaging, and the storylines are not the regular HEAs. However, the unprotected sex between every main character in my opinion is irresponsible. Not once is the “health” of the couples, or the need for protection, even mentioned before they engage in sex. These books don’t seem to be intended for teenagers, but there is no way to keep them out of the hands of impressionable young girls. They will want to read these books, if they are available to them, because the stories are so good. Due to the fact that STDs are so prevalent in today’s society, I believe that it’s important to remind readers of the absolute necessity of practicing safe, protected sex.
5 short stories in one with an overlying thread (Abigail's murder) that links them all together.
I didn't really like the fact that all the women seem to be whiny control freaks who need to be rescued by the man, but they're good if you're in the mood for light romance stuff.
I have the kindle edition and the editing is atrocious - it looks like proof reading didn't happen before publishing - nor has anyone bothered to look at a map = the Pacific is no where near Florida.
The bad editing and lack of proof reading probably won't stop me downloading more of Harper Maguire's novels though, I'm a sucker for the hot bod cover!
I barely read the first book, it was terrible. I was hopeful for a bit but was completely let down. The possibility of a good storyline was there but the author failed to capture it. I finished the first book simply because I wanted to know if the GF was found, was the brother involved. Yes and no oh and while the main female character was getting clobbered in the head by a lamp she was rescued by her BF whom then proceeded to propose to her while she was on the floor with a head injury cause let’s be honest if you’ve taken some cracks to the head via a lamp you have a head injury, but hey, they lived HEA!
I did enjoy the books & each story was different. But what bothered me was each & every character, in each & every book touched eyes with each other. They did not look, gaze or stare. They touched eyes. They all had mile long stares & everything was crisp. Crisp weather & crisp clothes. It was driving me nuts reading the same descriptions over & over for the entirety of five books. As I said I did enjoy the books & liked that the main plot overlapped , & concluded in the final book. I am not sure if I will read anything by this author again as I was really irritated by so many of the same descriptions.
Was there no editor available? Or Google?? Why in a series set in a Florida town does the author wax poetically about the same town being nestled in the Pacific Ocean? Also aren't green eyes are a far more recessive trait than blue eyes. The 5 Stone brothers run a PI business. Each of the brothers meets his mate through a case. There is also mystery that unfolds throughout all 5 books surrounding the death of the oldest brother's fiancee. The stories are engaging even though in each of them there was a point where I groaned out loud as one of the MCs did something really stupid. Not a series I'd reread but a decent beach read. All the brothers are hot and good in bed so that's a plus.
All the books in this collection are an enjoyable read all the Stone brothers fall head over heels for their respective mates, each woman has her own story and each brother takes care of their mate. There is the underlying thread throughout each book of finding who killed the oldest brother Greg's fiancee Abigail five years earlier which causes problems for all of them as the town is convinced he killed her and the brothers covered it up. The plot thickens and eventually the truth comes out. A good series.
This series is absolutely wonderful. I loved everything about each story. I had to slow my reading, because I didn't want to finish. I wanted the stories to go on and on. The investigation part of each story was so precise. If course the love story was the best part. I would recommend this series to anyone wanting exciting investigation and love in a book. This definitely fills the order.
The only series I've read (of Many) where each novel is a full, standalone book and ALSO there's a continuing story throughout the series with references back to the other characters more frequently than most series. All 5 stories were great although the missing child storyline was not enjoyable due to the many possible (horrible) outcomes going through the reader's mind.
This series follows 5 stone brothers. Each having suffered their own heartbreaking story. The series follows each brothers story to find love. It also follows their investigations in to missing persons and uncovers police corruption in a closed murder case. Lots of drama. A great read. Highly recommend.
I would recommend each book in this series to mature readers that enjoy reading stories that are at times laugh out loud funny, steamy, suspenseful, and romantic, with strong leading characters both male and female. Well done.
A story about five brothers, one of them being accused of the murder of his fiancé even though he was innocent, the dirty cops that refused to give him information, how the brothers turned investigators, the women they fell in love with and the unexpected climatic ending
Every chance I got I had the book in my hand, I was even late in going to bed. If I woke up in the middle of the night, I opened the book an read it for at least an hour. Thank you for writing an amazing book
This is the first time I have read a book by this author and I really enjoyed it. I would recommend it to any romance loved who like me enjoyed a twist in the story
Loved reading this series of books, I really enjoyed that each was a story on its own but, had the underlying story about Greg. Loved all the characters. Definitely worth the read.
Great series that I thoroughly enjoyed. Loved that one brother featured in each book with the other four brothers stories continuing throughout. Great finish tot he series
The Stone brothers are quite the catch. Strong, sexy, and capable investigators. They seem to get into some wild plots and mostly through the women who capture their hearts. The continual them that tied them together was to find a murderer. And, at long last they did. It's worth the read to follow each brother down his own path. Live, lust, and longing make for an exciting read.
I have to say I really loved this story. I could not put it down. I just wish the stories would have flowed better from one to another with more detail. But I was a good read.
This is a 5 book series. Each book is a stand alone but there is a central story -- what happened to Greg's fiance' and who is responsible for her murder? The 5 Stone Brothers, working together as PI's, work to solve the mystery, one that Greg was originally accused, and many more. Each book is complex and the ladies each brother meets are unique, independent and strong. The collection was riveting (note: I finished the 5 books in under 2 days). Well written and captivated my attention. Once done, I will likely revisit in the near future to glean more details. Bravo!
A wonderful book. It has five stories in it. Give the brothers each a story could be read alone. Each story was around the same theme and the ending of them brings a resolution to what happened to one of the brothers first fiance. This book has it all, romance, suspense, drama, kidnapping and Wow the sex scenes are scorching 🔥Hot. Loved the characters, even the not so good characters. This book will keep your attention.
Excellent series. Each novel features a different brother. All the books continue the case of murder of the oldest brother's fiance. Each book ends well and the last wraps up the case. Recommended!
Loved how each of the Stone brothers found their forever soul mate..And finally Greg had been exonerated..Author Harper Maquire did excellent job in writing this series and keeping the reader in tuned with the story line
I enjoyed the books. I really liked the suspense of Greg’s wife’s story that ran throughout all 5 books. The stories were fast paced and loose ends were tied up well. I enjoyed this set and will look for more from the author.
Loved that one story ran all the way through the whole series and then each new story was just as riveting until the end. Hard to put it down. ENJOY. You will love it.
Enough twists and turns and feel good relationships to warrant five stars. The thread that tied all the situations together kept this reader intrigued.
