Thirteen years later, still harboring guilt for his failed marriage and his wife's death in a tragic accident, Derek finds himself back in his hometown with his daughter.

When it seems that fate has given them a second chance, Derek and Teagan realize it might finally be their time. Just as Derek and Teagan's happily ever after comes into focus, Teagan is offered the chance of a lifetime-to start a new life with her daughter, something she's wanted for years. But now that Derek is back in her life, it's not so easy to pick up and leave. Just when she finally has something real, can she leave it for her own dreams?

All I Ask is Corinne Michael’s newest stand-alone novel, and Corinne always brings the feels. This is a great second chance contemporary romance.

Teagan is a single mom with a 13 year old daughter. She lives in a small town and is doing her best to make life good for her and her daughter. Her life is what it is, but as long as her daughter is happy and healthy, she’s good. Then her best friend who abandoned her years ago, Derek Hartz moves back into town. It changes everything.

Derek’s daughter is the same age as Teagan’s and they don’t get along. As much as Teagan wants to stay away from Derek, it’s a small town and she doesn’t have much of a choice but to interact with him. He hurt her in the worst way, and wants to make it up to her, but how can you make up for something like that?

I understand why Derek did what he did. I didn’t like it and Teagan didn’t deserve it, but being faced with an impossible choice, I get it. I loved watching Teagan and Derek become friends again and start to fall for one another. You can tell those feelings have always been there, and they’re just as strong as ever.

I listened to the audio book of All I Ask and it was narrated by the fantastic Teddy Hamilton and Samantha Peachwood. They both did a great job voicing Teagan and Derek.

If you’re looking for a friends to lovers, second chance romance with single parents, you need to check this book out!

Letting go ⭐️

I feel like I’ve had the best possible start of a pink fairytales year, by reading already 14 amazing books, but this one tops them all. I just found my absolute favorite of Corinne Michael’s!

“To those who love someone enough to let them go. “

This is how it starts. This is the first crack in your heart.

Meet Teagan Berkley and Derek Hartz.

Their story begins in high-school, when she was the popular cheerleader dating the football captain and he was the weird dorky nerd who loved animals better than people. They become best friends, falling secretly in love with each other. Secretly meaning they didn’t know how the other felt, because they’re both scared admitting their feelings!
Fast forward a few years and she gets to be his “best woman”, standing besides him while he marries someone else. Second crack!

“The ring slips on her finger, sealing their love, and I try not to feel the pain that’s threatening to overtake me. I would give anything to be the friend he believes me to be. The one who loves him like a brother, wants him to be happy, and stand beside him on the biggest day of his life. Instead, I’m dying inside. I know I will never—we will never—recover from this.”

Suddenly after the wedding, Derek cuts all ties with Teagan. Their long time friendship just gone with a single phone call.

Fast forward 13 years and he’s back in town as a single dad, full of guilt, but with high hopes for a better future, one that has to include Teagan.

And that’s all I can tell you about this story, without spoiling your fun, but I’ll let you know my feelings about it. ☺️
This second chance/small town/friends-to-lovers romance IS EVERYTHING!
Welcome to Chincoteague, Virginia!

With single mom Teagan working in her parents Antique Shop and having this smart and funny best-friends kind of teenage daughter, plus the whole small town vibe, her friend Nina, her relationship with her parents, all these made me think of the Gilmore Girls, which only makes this book even better! 🥰

Confession time: i loved Teagan waaaaay more than Derek, which usually doesn’t happen. I fall in love with the hero and put the heroine under the microscope trying to decide if she’s good enough for him, but in this case, Derek disappointed me a bit with something he said (won’t say what - it’s between him & I).
I liked him a lot, don’t get me wrong. Watching him struggle with his bitchy-evil daughter, trying to win Teagan back and everything else, wasn’t easy.

This novel will most definitely make you cry, but don’t worry. You’ll also get to laugh, swoon and basically fall in love with all the characters!

All I Ask is that you READ THIS BOOK!
Please trust me, you won’t regret it!

”ARC provided through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.”

It would be an absolute honor to have you as my guest on my blog too. Stop by anytime you want :)

I've been wanting to read Corrine Michaels's books forever so a standalone like this one seemed a good point to start. I think I'm now where a lot of readers end up when they read like it's a profession - burned out and a little over the cliches and drama in some stories. So a book needs to be extra special to incite a lot of enthusiasm. Unfortunately All I Ask wasn't that.

Beware: There be spoilers.

In parts this story was a little saccharine sweet, but it was the weak characters that threw me off. While this wasn't the big winner I expected I still want to give Corinne Michaels another try - I know a lot of my book buddies love her. As always, please don't take my words for gospel, there are many people who loved this story and it may be just a case of "it's me, not the book."

Teagan and Derek are so good together. SO GOOD!

This story has an excellent flow. I loved getting both their POV's. I loved getting the flashbacks from when they first met and how easily their friendship turned into love without either one of them realizing what was happening. So natural.

I love the single daddy trope but in ALL I ASK we get a single mom as well and it's interesting to say the least. Not only are Teagan and Derek trying to figure out their love life, their adult life but they also have their daughters to consider when making any life changing decisions.

I had such a fun and beautiful time reading this.
This one had a different feel from all the other Corinne Michaels books I've read (and I've read all her books) and it's GREAT!💜

All I ask was an emotional romance that pulled at my heartstrings in the most vulnerable ways. I have always been a fan of friends to lovers romance and seeing that they were also single parents who reconnected later in life, this one sealed the deal for me.

Everyone knows that raising a kid is not an easy job and It’s ten times more when they’re teenagers( help us all). It’s been thirteen years since Teagan last saw her best friend and it has left a hole in her world that was always filled with love, kindness and laughter from him. Raising a teenage daughter on her own and working for her parents is all in a day's work sometimes and even though it’s a struggle sometimes, there is no way that Teagan would ever give up providing a good life for her daughter.

Now content with her small town life, Reagan is now looking forward to creating a better future for her and her daughter and nothing is going to get in the way of that. But things are about to get shaken up in this small town when the newly single veterinarian moves back and she comes face to face with her former best friend.

I really enjoyed this this story and I found myself reading at a slower pace just so that I can savor it A LOT more especially the first half of the book. Everything shined in those chapters and I really liked the flashbacks moments because not only they showed the start of their friendship , but we were also shown glimpses of how they interacted with each other and you saw the love. The second half felt a bit dragged for me and I was not a fan of the conflict towards the end but other than that, this was a solid read.

If you’re looking for a romantic friends to lovers romance, this one is for you.

I loved this book so much. It was an amazing story and I’m so sad that it’s over. It’s a story about first love and second changes. Friends to lovers. The book pulled at my heartstrings and made me believe in second chances. I fell in love with the characters, as I do with all of Corinne’s characters. A 5 star must read!

I loved this book. It captured my heart and shredded it mended it all at the same time. Derek and Teagan have an unbreakable bond, even though there is a lifetime of hurt and animosity.
Life happens, and when teenagers are involved, it can throw your life and choices in a tailspin. You are willing them and wanting them to make the most acceptable choices, and sitting on pins and needles for the outcome. I truly did love this book, and I can wait until it is released on audible. I voluntarily reviewed this book from the author.

I was so excited when I got an early copy of All I Ask. First, the cover is STUNNING. Second, two single parents! And third, it's the (ex) friends to lovers trope. Which means all the angst and all the feels. So I am a bit disappointed that I couldn't enjoy this book more. It's not a bad read, just a frustrating one. You can tell Corinne Michaels knows how to write, but the miscommunication in this romance got on my nerves. It's one of my biggest pet peeves when characters just don't TALK to each other. The reason why our hero and heroine became estranged for over a decade was because they couldn't express their feelings towards one another. This book is definitely a "it's me, not you" kind of read, but if you also don't enjoy reading about miscommunication, I would pass on it.

While the book is told in alternate POVs (IMO, there weren't enough chapters from the hero), we also get two timelines: the past, when Teagan and Derek first meet in high school and fall in unrequited love, and the present, when they reunite for the first time in a decade as single parents. I have to say I wasn't a big fan of the past chapters – they were boring and didn't add all that much to the story because I could already tell how in love Teagan and Derek were through their present chapters. And, this is when they start keeping their feelings a secret and Derek uses his new fiancée to cope with the fact that he thinks Teagan doesn't love him back. Did I also mention Teagan is pregnant by her deadbeat ex and Derek gets his fiancée pregnant? I guess no one uses condoms anymore. It just annoyed me to no end that they could've saved over ten years worth of hurt and heartache with a simple conversation.

The present day reunion is underwhelming. It starts off with some fantastic angst and I could just FEEL all the emotions and hurt from Teagan. Derek ghosted her, his best friend, like she didn't mean anything to him. He stopped all communication with her and dropped off the face of the planet. I really wanted her to make him work towards earning back her trust and heart, but after maybe two conversations they start dating already. So that whole thing was anticlimactic. The thing is, I truly don't believe Derek would've ever gone after Teagan, the woman he supposedly loved, if he didn't become a widower. I never understood why he was okay living married but separated with his wife, a woman he didn't love. So Teagan comes across as second best, his second choice, and that left a bad taste in my mouth.

The good things I did enjoy? The writing, which is solid, and Teagan's daughter, who has such a personality. I'm sure I'm in the minority for this book, but I wanted more – more angst, more GROVELING, more chapters from the hero. And sadly, this just didn't work for me.

What can I POSSIBLY say about this book that gave me sooooooo many INCREDIBLE emotions from the heart-wrenching ANGST right from the first chapter (OMG!!!), to the glorious and emotional epilogue that left my heart a happy, mushy mess...with ALLLLLL the FEELS in between??!!

Teagan and Derek's second-chance love story took me on a roller coaster ride of EPIC proportions! I was completely captivated by this gorgeous, sometimes gut wrenching and heart-shattering story that has made it on to my TOP READS EVER list! There were times while reading that I had to stop and give my heart a break from the FEELS! There were also times when I wanted to seriously punch a few of the characters in this novel (Derek being one of them!)!!!

Ms. Michaels has PERFECTED the "torture them with feels" aspect of writing to the point where she has earned her "Elphaba" nickname 100%!!! All I can say is this book will RIP YOUR HEART OUT, STOMP ON IT, SMASH IT TO SMITHEREENS....and then put it all back together again! I can't recommend this book highly enough! It's a DEFINITE MUST READ!

3.5 stars

All I Ask is Corinne Michaels latest standalone novel and her first as a traditionally published author through Forever Romance. This story is an emotional best friends-to enemies-to lovers and second chance romance.

We're in Chincoteague Island, Virgina, a tiny coastal town with seasonal visitors and plenty of locals that get into everyones business. Teagan is a single mother to a thirteen-year-old girl and lives above her parents antique store that she also manages. Derek is a newly widowed father back in town to help his ailing father at his veterinary practice.

Teagan and Derek's relationship is volatile. They were high school best friends that always had feelings for each other but never let the other know about it. Teagan's relationship with her then boyfriend made Derek's decision to marry someone else the put the nail in their proverbial coffin.

"Tell me something real."

I enjoyed Derek's character very much. He's learning the ropes as a single father, and dealing with the death of his wife. While their relationship wasn't perfect, I felt that her character was villainized a bit too much. Teagan was very hit or miss for me. She was a woe-is-me type of character and that kind of grated on me. She plays the victim very well but they both made decisions that molded the thirteen years they were apart.

"I've waited a very long time for you, even when I didn't know what I was doing.

While this wasn't a supreme read for me, I did still enjoy it. Teagan and Derek's growth as characters separately, parents, and a couple was great to read. Corinne still remains a top auto-buy author for me but All I Ask didn't hit all the marks like her past stories.

Omg I’m not even sure how she keeps doing this but Corinne just absolutely floors me! Derek and Teagan’s lives are totally flipped upside down and are thrown back into each other’s worlds. They both kept lingering feelings from each other for years, only to have to face them once again. Teagan’s daughter is fantastic and I absolutely love her to death. Second chance love stories are the best and Corinne of course kills it with this one. Don’t wait to get your hands on it.

All I Ask was a heartbreakingly beautiful story about two bestfriends afraid to voice their feelings for each other and the consequences they faced. This story takes you on an emotional journey of loss, love and second chances. Corinne never fails to deliver a powerful story that tugs at the heart and stays with you, this book did just that. This is not your normal Corinne book it has such a different feel but in the best way. This book was real and raw, had me hanging on every word, gasping and begging for more because this book was EVERYTHING!

I can't walk away from you again, Tea. I don't think I have it in me.

I always look forward to Corinne's books because she writes heartbreaking and epic love stories. So when she announced this story I couldn't wait to see her tackle yet another unique second chance romance!

We've all heard Thomas Rhett's Marry Me, but we don't know what exactly happens after two people that love each other are separated by fate. This story is all about love biding it's time for it's perfect moment.

I'm not sure what this says about me(and if your a psychologist, I ain't got time for that black hole of drama) but I love reading about characters that have been through a lot of shit and their own families fail at supporting them. I think my first update while reading this book was that Teagan's Mom is a dick. Yup, she was a total Richard, but I love that because it really draws out the emotions and empathy for all the hardships that Teagan went through. (Yes, I know, I got issues) But here's Teagan, watching her best friend, the only man she's ever loved, marry someone else right in front of her. But then be trapped into not being about to do anything about it because she has her own obligations.

I also really loved the setting to All I Ask. I have never heard of Chincoteague Island and had to actually google the pronunciation. (FYI: Shink-uh-teeg) But then ended up in a deep internet dive about it. It really helped expand the storyline by being able to really visualize the town and Derek's home.

I also loved the connection between Everly and Chastity's relationship and how it mirrored Teagan and Derek's relationship in high school.

You know how towards the end of the book, there's usually one way or another that the character is going to go. And most of the time, I go for the usually ending, the expected ending, but not this time. I really wanted to see Teagan go the other route and take on a new challenge on her own. Now, in a round about way this occurred, but I really was hoping to see Michael's take the other story line.

I know this is a standalone, but what would be really special is to see Everly and Chastity to have their own books, because that relationship, turned friendship, turned sisterhood has amazing potential!

"I think I had to lose you...
I know that you would never love me, at least that's what I convinced myself of...
I didn't deserve you then, I'm not sure that I do now either, but I know that I would like to try."

I am a huge fan of Corinne Michaels and read everything she writes and I have from the time she started writing. And books like All I Ask are the reason why. It was absolutely amazing and I loved it. A story about second chances, new beginnings and was angst-filled and emotional. I just devoured it. Teagan and Derek are both starting over as single parents. Their journey was a roller coaster of a ride and I was completely captivated by the story and the characters from start to finish.

We see Teagan and Derek both in the present and past as we follow their journey. Teagan and Derek became the best of friends while in high school. They were everything to each other and when feelings started to blur, neither was honest and instead went down very different paths. Now both are single parents and Derek is back in town. But life is never easy. I loved both characters so much. Their story was honest, real, heartbreaking and heartwarming all at once. This is a must-read for sure!

I just started reading this novel even though I hate second chances romance but you know CORINNE MICHEALS. So i keep reading until I reach the point where I was like WTAF “h is pregnant with another man’s child all the while being in love with her male BFF who just married another woman and she is the best man.” He left h because he loved his wife and she told him to choose between her and his bff. He chose his wife.
Apparently, They meet again when they both have 13 year old daughters. H came back for his father and six months after his wife died. Leaves me wondering WHAT IF his wife hadn’t died!!??? Screams second best to me. Lame Heroine hasn’t been on a date since her daughter is born. This was more than enough for me. Don’t color me surprise if their partners are evil villains. I needed the kick to remind me why I hate second chance romance. DNF. Nice writing though.

“I don’t think I could handle the loss again.”
He wraps his arm around my back, forcing me to put my hands on his chest. “Then hold on and don’t let go this time.”
“You’re the one who let go last time.”
The regret fills his eyes. “And I won’t ever make that mistake again.”
― Corinne Michaels, All I Ask

Ps.
Kids need tough love sometimes and in most of the novels including this one I hate it when parents allow their children to become their parents and let their misbehavior go without any punishment( it doesn’t have to be always physical). They need to be tough sometimes and correct their kids behavior so they’ll think twice before doing something they think is wrong or hurtful because it’ll make their parents angry and hurt their parents. They treated their daughters as if they were 17 years old not mere 13.

PPS.
I still finished this novel despite not wanting to because of all the high ratings and reviews it got. I didn’t like it. In my POV H was selfish and coward, it took his wife’s death for him to peruse the h even though he and his wife were living as roommates and somewhere around 80% of the novel he tell h he misses he wife and loved her (great). If he loved her, he would have come for h much sooner and made something work for his daughter’s sake. Parents share custody of their kids all the time. He also claimed he worked a lot because his wife didn’t like he around and their home environment was cold. So he was an absentee father anyway.
Heroine was too pathetic and gave in too easily without makin him work for it especially after all she went through and needed him the most. How could she not find one man in 13 fucking years to love her and accept her with her daughter. No one from the town or someone who came from somewhere else and settled here. Are all the good decent men dead and self centered H is the only one alive? Isn’t she living in 2020? she needed to b strong.
See too lame for my liking. H should have groveled a lot. Not I love yous not as soon as they met. Read it to understand what I mean. Or for your sake I hope you don’t.

What a heartfelt book Corinne Michaels gives us in All I Ask. Teagan and Derek have quite the past and so much hurt is there from it. Best friends who lost each other because of other relationships. Now they are back in the same town, each with a teenage daughter.

I loved watching Teagan grow through the book and how Derek opened up to her. I love how Corinne Michaels writes stories that make us feel and think. That is what All I Ask gives readers!

What a BEAUTIFUL story!

I just can’t with Corinne’s writing right now. So epically poignant and heart warming.

My heart actually aches now that I’ve turned the last page. You can’t help but be so engrossed in their journey back to one another and want to travel alongside them on the path they are forging together now. After all this time.

How their souls spoke to one another and the unwavering connection between them hadn’t diminished over the years was the stuff romance stories are made of. This is true love. This is what we all dream of. Aspire and hope for.

Like Derek and Teagan for one another, my love knows NO BOUNDS for this outstanding book from Corinne. 5 tell-me-something-real stars.

Corinne Michaels is definitely one of my favorite authors, and every book of hers is an immediate one click or pre-order for me. So when I first read the blurb, and then saw the beautiful cover, I was all in. Second chance romances are my jam, and with the amount of emotion this wonderfully talented author packs early on, I became glued to my kindle, desperately wanting to know just how Teagan and Derek would get their HEA.

When we first meet Teagan, she's in the worst kind of hell: she is watching the man she loves more than anything else in this world marry another woman. She loves him enough to let him go, to accept that their friendship they share will be enough for her, all while realizing that nothing will ever be the same. She's heartbroken, but determined to be happy for her best friend. So when he cuts her out of his life so cruelly, and doesn't speak to her again for the next thirteen years, Teagan never expected him to move back to their hometown ever she still lives in with her teenage daughter. She's tried so hard to mend the pieces of her that he broke, but when secrets and truths are revealed, will they be able to salvage the love they had for each other all those years ago? Or will they be destined to always be almost lovers?

Good lord, I was a blubbering mess for the first half of this book. Corinne has such a talent for reaching deep into your heart and soul, and making you feel things you never imagined you would. This is a beautiful story of second changes, forgiveness, and the power of what love can overcome. I loved it all - Teagan for being such a badass, Derek for doing all he could to make her realize just how in love with her he is, and both of their teenage daughters. Every character was executed so beautifully, and I particularly loved the evolution of Teagan's relationship with her own mother. This book is so incredibly beautiful, and I encourage you all to one click as soon as you are able to!

**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions!!**

** I also love the connection that Teagan has with Mark!!! That was so amazing!! And I hope that Nina will get her own book! :)

I love second chance romances and friends to lovers. When I started reading All I Ask by Corinne Michaels and realized it was both, I was very happy. This story grabbed me and kept me glued as the story unraveled.
Teagan is a single mom, has an ex-boyfriend or left her and her unborn child, was in love with her best friend and trying to please everyone else.
Derek recently lost his wife and moves back to the small town where he grew up.
Teagan and Derek were best friends but that was years ago.
All I Ask tells the story of forgiveness, friendship, sacrifice and love. There are flashbacks to their teenage years, moments in the present and the craziness of their teenage daughters.
Can these once best friends admit their true feelings and find their happily ever after?
I just loved these characters, Corinne's writing and the story. This is a must read, happy story!

Brand new stand alone from Corinne Michaels did not disappoint.

Loved Teagan and Derek’s story. I felt the heartbreak all those years ago with Teagan having to stand and watch her best friend marry the girl that wasn’t her.

“There was the man I wanted to marry, marrying someone else. I couldn’t do or say anything. I was trapped, watching it, pretending my tears weren’t because my heart was being torn from my body.”

Their story of coming back together plus two teenagers in tow, hand me completely in knots. But I seriously could not put this book down. The dynamic from a single mom raising a teenage daughter was so in tune.

Without a doubt, this is a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ that I will be rereading!
