I just finished reading the script of A Quiet Place. It is THE MOST creepy/scary script I've read since reading Scream before it was produced.

The tension leaps off the page at me. And, I'm fascinated with the writing that broke so many rules, the #1 broken rule being that the script provides narration that is being thought or felt instead of seen (action) or heard (dialogue).

Typically, if the reader can't see it or hear it, it shouldn't be on the page. I love it when scripts break the rules.

I'm not sure I could watch A Quiet Place even with the sound down (pun intended). This story gives me the chills just thinking about it! I have no doubt this story will be staying with me for a while. It makes me want to get out my own scary script I had started back in 1999. #100Screenplays2020

Really enjoyed this screenplay, though the film did end up a good deal different. Regardless, both have their merits. I know this screenplay got slated for being gimmicky, but to be honest I found it refreshing to have a break from the rigid formatting rules of screenplays. It is nice, sometimes, to be told rather than shown in screenplays what the characters are feeling. It's a screenwriting rule that always bugged me somewhat - the reader needs to see what's happening, it's up to the actor to show it. Anyway, great screenplay. Fast paced, unique, fun and intense.
