It's been over one hundred years since the ‘Year of Storms,’ a time when natural disasters decimated three-quarters of the world’s population. The hurricanes, tornadoes, and other catastrophes were the result of centuries of environmental abuse and the unchecked reaping of Earth’s natural resources.
Now, we live in a time where the difference between rich and poor is a matter of life and death. The World Council is slowly gaining ground in its battle to rebuild this world. In addition to global rationing, they’ve established the off-world outposts, settlements on the far-off planet of Argosa.
The outposts provide the resources needed to rebuild Earth’s cities and return them from the brink of devastation, and for those who chose to migrate to the outposts, they provide a means to make a better life.
Unfortunately, the greed of the rich and powerful is threatening to take it all away.
Karl Dreyer Jr. was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, but his story truly began in the rugged mining town of Bagdad, Arizona, where he spent the first ten years of his life dreaming of becoming a filmmaker. Though that dream never took shape, his passion for storytelling never faded.
Returning to Lancaster with his mother and grandmother, Karl finished high school before embarking on a successful twenty-five-year career as a software developer and engineer. Yet, the call of storytelling remained. In 2017, at the age of forty-seven, he finally embraced his childhood dream, trading code for prose.
His debut novel, Liberation, marks the beginning of The Ricklan Saga, a thrilling journey he is eager to continue as he works on the second volume.
It’s a fast-paced sci-fi adventure! Resolute Joe and maverick Zaalia are kicking the snot out of the Dominare society. There’s something for everyone in these pages. My favorite being the character arcs!
I would have liked the pace to slow down at some points in the journey. That’s only because I enjoy it when the characters toil and agonize with the weight of their decisions!
Still, have fun with this adventure. And enjoy meeting Aslan!
The adventure pulls you in… touches on challenges of our time and sparks imagination as you follow the moves of each colorful character. Really enjoyed the intricate development of each one, the good and the bad in human nature; and their relationships with each other… their sometimes agonizing decisions… the warm connections and the sacrifices made between parents and kids, boyfriends and girlfriends, friends.
What can I say. This story drew me in and captured my imagination. During this intricate and exciting story, I came to love the characters and their individual journey's! An outstanding story, well written, and leaves you wanting more.
When the Dominare takes all that is good and precious from Marc, he does the only thing he knows how. He fights! They may come to regret pushing him this far.
If you loved Divergent, you will love this post-apocalyptic thriller.
