Walk the path of holiness, stir your faith in God, and break free from the bonds of a sinful nature with Joyce Meyer's Galatians commentary, featuring inspiring questions and space for your reflections. Paul's letter to the church at Galatia speaks largely to how important it was to Paul that the people embrace unity in Christ, no matter their differences. Galatians teaches that we're justified by faith in Christ only and encourages us to pursue a life of holiness, not in our own strength, but in the knowledge of God's empowering grace in our lives. In this comprehensive study tool, Joyce Meyer offers an in-depth look at Galatians and emphasizes that we are not only saved by faith, we must learn to live by faith as well.

Galatians: A Biblical Study by Joyce Meyer is another gorgeous book with practical applications in her new Biblical study series.
Galatians: A Biblical Study starts out with an introduction to Galatians. Meyer then expounds on Galatians in 16 chapters and concludes with some closing notes. In Galatians, Paul gives a lot of good advice for dealing with people with come in contact with on a daily basis as Christians. In this book the reader may learn why it isn't a good idea to be a people-pleaser, how to handle other people's faults Biblically, how to avoid being self-righteous, and how to best walk in the Christian Spirit from day to day.
This study in Galatians could be helpful for Christians in any stage of their Christian walk but I think it would be especially helpful for new Christians as it offers so many practical ways to live the Christian life. I like the design of these books--they are easy to read, easy to understand for any layman, and they have space to write and reflect (or good questions if you want to write your answers in a journal instead like I do). In this book, Meyer encourages us to live out the faith that has saved us to be more like Jesus. For me, her writing is both encouraging and straightforward. It is easy to see the verses and the commentary side-by-side in Galatians and to reflect on your own applications.
I received this copy from the publisher. All opinions are my own. #sponsoredbyfaithwords
I always tread carefully when I read Bible studies. Personal biases and interpretations inevitably abound. Also, there are often times a stigma is attached to a writer or speaker based on their “branch of Christianity”. If God has shown me anything this year, it’s to rejoice in others’ love of him. Instead of judging their background and denomination, I choose to be happy in their desire to serve God and leave it up to Him to show us all where we need to change things in our lives.
I feel like I need to preface this review with my thoughts because we will so often “throw out the baby with the bath water” if someone isn’t worshiping God exactly as we are. As long as nothing conflicts with God’s Word, I will choose to rejoice in their love of God. (1 Thessalonians is a really great book that deals with this idea).
That being said, I thoroughly enjoyed reading through these verse-by-verse commentaries/devotionals. Joyce Meyer knows the Bible well and understands suffering and perseverance. Her background is so dark and God’s mercy is evident in her change.
These are a great companion to the Word. They are simple and straightforward to read and I would recommend picking one up each morning and having some time with God! As always, I recommend reading the Word on your own, as well as using other resources and materials. It’s good to hear what God has revealed to others and, ultimately, take it all and ask Him for wisdom on what to do with it.
Thanks, Hachette Books for these! As always, this is my honest review. Here’s to many more!!
I am not a fan of Joyce Meyer in her preaching, but this book was a pleasant surprise. I was thinking this would be geared, like most of her writings, to the female gender, but this study of the book by Paul in the Bible was gender neutral, easy to comprehend, and enjoyable. The layout of the book was nicely done, especially the thick pages. New and older Christians can understand and get something out of the book; it is not over the head of readers, nor is it to simple. The layout text wide is similar to most Christian books, but more like the Our Daily Bread books, where there is extra questions at the end of each chapter, along with a place to jot down notes or thoughts. In Galatians, Joyce Meyer explored the whole book of Galatians which was written by the apostle Paul. This book of the Bible, Paul stands up for the truth of the Gospel and he discussed legalism. Jesus came and sacrificed Himself for all of our sins but many people still struggled with trying to live in works of the flesh. Joyce shared topics that Galatians covered such as, “people pleasing, reaping what we sow, walking in the Spirit, and much more. Paul opened up about how if we were trying to please people, he wouldn’t be a servant of Christ. Joyce shared how she wondered how many people have missed their callings for their lives because they are afraid of not pleasing people. She shared in her own life how when she first started to preach how people judged her because she was a woman. She was asked to leave her church and she shares how she had to choose to not be a people pleaser. Another topic, Paul wrote about was about living and walking in the flesh and this can include sexual immorality, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, selfish ambition, and a lot of other sins. He also discussed the fruits of the Spirit: love, peace, joy, goodness, gentleness, and more. Joyce explains how we are redeemed through Christ and forgiven for our sins. This in turn should encourage readers to want to strive to walk in the Spirit and try and not walk in the flesh and sin.
I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a new Bible study and they are wanting to learn more about Paul and what his life can teach us and how we can deal with legalism beliefs. I liked how Joyce Meyer digged into the scriptures and tried to explain it in terms that everyday people could understand. One of my favorite topics, she went over was the importance of not living controlled by people pleasing. She also looked at Paul’s conversion from Saul and how he used to persecute believers. And now Paul was living his life to please God. I liked also how she went over the fruits of the Spirit and how believers can choose to display Christ’s character and teaching in their own lives. Each chapter also shared a question where readers could ponder and answer. If you’re looking a new Bible study, then read this one!
"I received this book free from the publisher, Faithwords/ Worthy Publishing for my honest review.”
When you open this book, you will want to read it cover to cover. Joyce Meyer goes into detail about how it’s written by Paul, the Apostle, and how much it closely resembles Romans. Throughout the book you’ll be met with the scripture that she wants to discuss and questions for personal reflection. There is ample room to journal right inside the book. However, if you would rather not write in the book, I highly suggest you get a notebook and write out your thoughts as you journey alongside the author. I, myself, like to take notes directly in this book and circle important thoughts. The author also references other scripture outside of Galatians. It’s great to be able to cross reference other scriptures in the Bible because it can help you understand the true meaning behind what you are reading.
What I love most about this book is that the author tells us to take our time with these books. We should let it sit and think about what we have read. She ends each book with asking this question: Do you have a real relationship with Jesus? This is one of the many things I love about Joyce Meyer. She is always reminding us as we go through her books that we can have a real relationship with Jesus. She takes all of the lessons from the Bible and helps you apply it to your daily life. It is very easy to understand through her words what God is teaching us in these books of the Bible. I highly recommend these books if you are looking for more information on what these books of the Bible mean and how you can apply it to your life.
I did receive this book for review from Faith Words Hachette Book Group. All thoughts and opinions in this review are my own.
I was given a review copy of this book from the publisher. It actually ended up being the third book in this series that I have read this year. While I was reading her book on Colossians, I felt led to preach through Ephesians at my church so I purchased that one as well. These are quality books with the plain spoken insights I have come to expect from Joyce Meyer. Galatians has always been an interesting book to me. It shows us the Apostle Paul taking a stand in defense of his church. Mrs. Meyer takes us into these somewhat challenging chapters not just explaining what was happening but helping the reader to see how the book of Galatians applies to our everyday life. She wisely forgoes dense theological language and gives us the simple truth, which I really appreciated. I would highly recommend these books as a resource for someone leading a Bible study or Sunday School class. Mrs. Meyer has done a great job here once again.
Joyce Meyer’s work is something I am fairly familiar with. However, this was my first Bible Study by her that focused on one specific book of the Bible. I found this study to be my favorite of her’s thus far.
Galatians is an ideal study for anyone wanting to delve deeper into the Galatian culture. Paul’s message to the Galatians was groundbreaking. His main focus was communicating that Jesus died for us so that we would not be held to the old law. It no longer mattered if you were: Jew, Gentile, male, female, circumcised or uncircumcised. All that is Jesus and what He did for us!
The following are my favorite aspects of the study:
It is composed of small sections. It goes verse by verse. It breaks down the culture at the time Paul is writing. Explores the Greek meaning of words. References other versus/ lessons in the Bible. Offers advice on how we can apply Paul’s teaching to our lives today.
In my opinion, Joyce Meyer should have a doctorate of practicality, after her name. You want to grow up in your faith? Read Joyce! Her study in Galatians is packed full of practical insights for everyday Christian living - it won't disappoint. The Apostle Paul's letter to the church at Galatia focuses on UNITY among believers regardless of their trivial differences. Meyer takes us portion by portion through the epistle with space for personal reflections. This study will enrich and inspire!
Do you study God's word, but aren't really sure what you're studying or maybe struggle with staying guided in His word? Galatians is a great commentary Bible Study and tool that helps the reader live on the Bible in practical ways. This book has space for you to record your notes, thoughts, or prayers as you read the book of Galatians. This study is a fantastic tool whether you are new to the Christian faith or you have been in a relationship with the Lord for years. You will grow in your walk and learn so much more about the Bible!
Joyce Meyer's gift is the ability to explain somewhat confusing Biblical principles in very practical terms. This book walks us through the 6 chapters that make up the Letter to the Church of Galatia.
Galatians teaches us about spiritual wisdom, freedom, and maturity. The Galatians were being persuaded to embrace the law rather than salvation through the grace of God. It's very easy to see the parallels in today's world.
Gotta give it up to Paul and his direct, love-filled nature.
Overall, it was a good book. It started out rough for me at the beginning, for some reason I just couldn’t get into it. Once I changed my perspective and my expectations my heart was changed to the book. The book is reiteration of the verses. But once you take a step back and allow the scripture to change your heart, you will be convicted. I had set my expectations way to high. I was expecting something much deeper, instead of allowing God to move. I allowed my wants and desires be above the work that God was doing in me. The book gave me a new perspective towards Galatians and Paul and I am incredibly grateful for that. It was a Good read.
Joyce Meyer does a great job incorporating scripture and life applicable content in her biblical study books of the Bible. If you are looking for a bible study series to do with a friend I would highly recommend these because each chapter is the perfect length, not too short and not too long, and includes at least one in-depth discussion question. I personally enjoyed Joyce Meyer's "Philippians: A Biblical Study" book more, but Galatians was excellent as well.
Thoughtful and inspiring. For me personally, I prefer a study that is more interactive. This is written in more of a commentary/devotional format. Nothing wrong with that, it’s just not what I look for in a study. If you are interested in reading this book, I would recommend also finding an interactive study on Galatians and work through both together.
This study on Galatians was great! Joyce broke down each chapter, and at the end of each chapter, she asked a question to encourage you to self reflect. It was short and easy to follow!
This was a great book to use as a devotional! I really enjoyed the insights and scripture references she used. The questions at the end of each allowed me to meditate and really pray about what the Lord wanted me to get out of this book. I would suggest not writing in the book to be able to use it over and over again. I will be going through it again!
I have now read this book twice. I wrote in it this time around and I would read it again writing in it again! LOTS of notes and sticky notes added to the book.
