This is a colourful fun starter book for anyone interested in chakras however having learnt about chakras, reiki and crystals there is a lot missing. It's a bit too simplified. I found it interesting to read the reflexology but there's more to it than the book suggests. The charts at the end are a useful tool though. I think more could have been added to make it a fully rounded book.
I really like the layout of this book. The content was good and concise. Though I might not use this book myself, I know a few people I will gift and recommend it to.
(Since this book is labeled as a beginner's guide I will try not to be overly critical and take it as it is.)
First of all, the formatting and illustrations are gorgeous, and it's a pleasure to look at. It is what makes the book instantly stand out.
As a practitioner I really expected to read more about reiki positions, besides the information provided about this technique was too simplified and not detailed. I assume it's because what we have here is a short self-help book, but still, it's missing some key points. For example, there were no techniques or meditations for clearing blockages.
I really enjoyed the chakra affirmations, they were short, clear and on point.
This book seems like a pocket guide on balancing chakras which is great. It is made to look fun and is easy to read. For those reasons I assume it would be useful for beginners and people interested in learning some basic information about chakras.
(3 stars for content; 5 stars for presentation)

A good introduction to the subject of chakras and how to work with them. Yes, you can go online and find out about chakras, but many of these articles are not all-rounders that give you something beyond the description of what this and that chakra is and does. This little book (a delight to peruse, btw, for the quirky layout and pretty colors - fonts could've been a bit bigger, though) goes just enough in depth into the subject so that you have basically what you're searching for and what you need to know about your chakras and how, why, and when to work on/with them. Of course, it doesn't cover everything, but for a start, it is a VERY good little book to delve into this topic.
This introduction to Chakras had some good information, but was a bit disjointed and hard to follow. I did read it electronically, so that may account for the difficulty viewing charts, etc.
This book is concise, well-presented, and covers most of what you would find in an introductory chakra class. I found this difficult as a read-through, but it would be a great reference guide to have if you are experimenting and learning chakra balancing. I really loved the charts, and how it shows multiple ways to balance each chakra.
A nice starting off point for those who have an interest in chakras or a nice addition. More visual on the topics given for each which can be helpful for those who are more visual (and I think chakra learning is more of that). Good book overall.
This was an interesting read but highly repetitive. It is also very simplified so this is definitely for beginners unfamiliar with chakras. In that aspect I feel it's helpful and a good basic aid. If your really serious about the use of chakras you will move through this quickly and will need a more advanced learning aid. It's a good place to start for a nice overview and basic techniques. I received this book from NetGalley for an honest review.
Press Here! Chakras for Beginners was an enjoyable read for me. Although none of the information presented was new to this reader, I found the layout and instruction very good. As a Reiki Master, chakra work is important and valuable to me for myself and clients. I appreciated the author tying in different treatment modalities to strengthen or correct chakras. Each chakra is presented with a meditation, a reiki treatment area and also crystal correspondents. Although the beginning of this simple book presents as more of a power point like visual screaming for a narrative to enhance the information, I found second half more than makes up for this. If your looking for a good, all around introduction to chakras, this just might be the book for you. Many thanks to Quarto Publishing-Fair Winds Press and Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I personally am a huge advocate of simplicity, I believe the human condition tends to over complicate things. With that said, I liked the direction this book was going, but not only is this book too basic, it's also ill informed and could have provided better guidance. I will start with saying I'm a Level II Reiki Practitioner, the way it comes across as if you don't have to have any knowledge of the discipline and can just simple place your hands on various parts of your body and just channel the energy without any prior knowledge. Reiki is considered a sacred ritual that is passed down from master to students. Students are taught how to use symbols in their practice and are also attuned to those symbols dependant on the level they are in. There is a level of respect for this practice that the author blatantly dismissed. He failed to provide adequate background and important information.
The use of crystals is an amazing way to balance the chakras, but they are more beneficial if they are programmed before hand with an intention set for each chakra. Also, the author could have given more examples of stones to use to balance each chakra than just three, giving people more options to chose from. Especially if you are going to use stones like Ruby which aren't as easily available like tigers eye to balance the root chakra.
The author didn't make mention of blockages and how to remove them from the chakras. There's a bit more to it than just "balancing" them, you need to clear them. A good meditational technique would have been teaching breathing techniques to bring you to that relaxed theta state. Then scanning each chakra, removing blocks, making them spin properly, for example.
This could have been written in a more informative way that keeps things simple and still not intimidating for a beginner. The disappointment was that I found this to be a bit on the fluffy side. I did enjoy the quick reference charts.
Thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group – Fair Winds Press for the ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
While it was interesting to read about the different chapters, this book, in my opinion, didn't really give any real advice since the instructions for each chapter are highly repetitive.
