I really loved this book. I can even say it exceeded my expectations. I have read several food photography books before and this one really impressed me.

Food photography is a very broad topic and it is hard for any author to cover all important information in a single book. The main issue I have found in most books on the same topic is that the authors tend to write in details about some aspects and leave others not very well clarified. Somehow Bea manages to cover all food photography aspects in her book in a very inspiring way. She states the rules of the specific matter, explains her point of view and also gives advices for further exercises and learning opportunities.

This is also a very realistic and at the same time motivating book. Food photography is quite complex to master and many people get discouraged easily by initial failures, including myself. I almost wish she wrote it 8 years ago when I was starting.

I was looking for a good food photography book. I wanted to get to know better the basics of photography and to learn some new techniques. I wanted clear and simple explanations, that eventually I will learn from it. I was looking for so long for that kind of a book, till I came across with "How to photograph food" by Beata Lubas.
I was a bit sceptic, but then the book arrived.
It was like Beata was standing in front of me!! The book is well written and every explanation is very clear and simple. I learned so much from this book. My techniques improved and my understanding of the scene got way better.
I really recommend that great book (I purchased the latest addition).

This is a great book to read weather you're just starting with food photography or you're simply passionate about creating phtotos, in general (if so, you'll be pleasantly surprised to discover a practical way to approach this type of still life photography which is food photography). You can tell it's a well written book, easy to understand, meant to guide aspiring photographers on their creative journeys, with valuable tips and a lot of helpful information. I cannot recommend this enough, the pictures and illustrations are drool-worthy and toughtfully created.

Bea is one of the best food photographers out there. She doesn't rely on purely styling, adding flowers, and other props —she shoots food. Her work is picture perfect, and at the same time looks so organic and natural. Her book is an excellent resource for learning to compose, shoot an edit food photography. It takes you through every aspect, in detail —without being boring, or too technical. She covers everything, and I'm so happy I made this purchase. It's a book I often pick up and use.

LOVED this book and the amazing tips and tricks. However I did find some bits to be repetitive, especially when it came down to the light and colour tips. Butttt I would highly recommend this book for anyone looking to run a food blog, like myself. But it focuses very much on one specific style of food photography, the high end magazine style and not everyone’s food blog suits that style.

This book doesn’t disappoint. It is phenomenal. When you read it, it feels like taking a course on how to photograph great food images. It is a guide. It is an excellent source of priceless tips.
It doesn’t matter if you are already familiar with photography or just a beginner. If you are looking to polish your food photography skills, or learn from the start -this book is for you.
It is divided into few chapters and each has tones of insightful tips. From explaining the technical parts of photography to equipment used, to composition, styling, framing. It has all the steps, and lessons necessary to improve the food photography images. Even tips on how to keep your ingredients fresh, how to prepare for a photoshoot.

Beata shares her secrets, techniques, and teaches how to capture amazing food photos. She explains everything clearly and easily. Her amazing food images are wonderful examples that help to understand the subject. The book is packed with everything there is to know to create incredible photos. I love the format. I love the interviews with other food photographers. And of course, I love the images. This is a keeper. It is a book with resources, that you will be coming back to over and over. It inspires, guides, teaches, and gives you a fresh perspective on food photography. This is a must on every food photographer, food blogger bookshelf.

Highly recommended for the budding and experienced photographer. Bea includes the necessary introductory information that every budding food photographer needs without the mystery and pretentions of others. I found myself taking a step back and trying to understand each element of food photography with my own limited resources.

The images in it are stunning as well so there's another bonus. It's definitely worth wearing out the pages with several re-reads!
