Warm, charming and remarkably honest - Grazia

The highs, the lows, the hangovers, the relationships, the lucky breaks (and the breaks I worked my arse off for) that have got me to the here and now.

Emily Atack was flung to fame at just 17, as Charlotte 'Big Jugs' Hinchcliffe in The Inbetweeners. Nearly ten years later, she won over the nation on I'm a Celebrity . . . Get Me out of Here! thanks to her hilarious impersonations and epic bravery during trials. While she was in the jungle, the country watched her go on a journey of self-acceptance and come out on top. Now Emily reveals the hilarious highs and the heartbreaking
lows that rocked the years between. With astonishing courage and her trademark humour, she shares stories about her family, relationships, work life and love.

Are We There Yet? is a warm, honest and funny book for anyone who has ever felt the need to break the mould to find out who they really are.

Emily Atack’s autobiography🤩
Emily wrote this while she was still young, and explored rising to fame, The Inbetweeners, being the ‘sexy’ actress and a few heartbreaks along the way. This was interesting and I really loved Emily’s writing style. I do feel it was a very young age to write a memoir and feel that it should’ve possibly been written later, so the depth could’ve been better. I’d have liked to hear a bit more about the Inbetweeners too. However, a lovely autobiography.

Really enjoyed Emily's style of writing, I am a decade older but all the cultural references were still relatable.

Emily is a very interesting person, I enjoyed watching her on I'm a Celeb.. (I think that year was the only year I watched it all) and I know some reviewers were disappointed this book didnt contain more 'behind the jungle' gossip but i thought it was nice that it wasnt 'Jungle' and 'Inbetweeners' heavy.

This is a book I didn’t know I needed to read! I am a fan of Emily Atack so from ‘The Inbetweeners’ to ‘I’m a Celebrity’ I’ve always found her hilarious! I’ve seen her stand up tour ‘Talk Thirty to Me’ and was due to see her again in Leeds on my birthday this year which has now been moved to next year (thanks Covid 😏).

Anyway, the point I’m making is that I got the book at Christmas because I’m a fan. But I only just picked up the book to read it and I’m glad I did. My favourite chapter has to be ‘Running the Rat Race’ as it’s just 100% relatable. But I guess the most accurate part of the book comes in the last three sentences! If you need a pick me up and a genuine ‘yes I get that’ book then I’d recommend giving this a read!

Note to self: ‘We are all exactly where we need to be’.

BOOK REVIEW ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I decided to read a bit of non fiction for a change and I thoroughly enjoyed reading about Emily Atack’s journey!

She talks about love, television, boys, teenage memories, growing up and it’s all just so real and honest ❤️. I loveee the cover of this one it’s super cute!

Here are some of my favourite quotes:

‘So I will keep loving, tripping, falling, spilling and forever hoping and praying that one I will find a soft landing’

‘Being in love-what does it mean?’

‘Don’t let other people’s achievements sidetrack you and don’t worry about the future. None of us are ‘there yet’. We are exactly where we need to be.’

A very quick and easy read! I found Emily’s writing style really enjoyable and fun to read - it was like reading a very long message from a friend. It was so interesting to read about her life and her own personal reflections upon things that have happened to her.

Reading about how she felt at being sexualised due to the character she played on The Inbetweeners made me so angry for her! I wished there had been more behind the scenes gossip and stories from The Inbetweeners days, but I got the impression that she wants to distance herself from that (especially as she also didn’t attend the reunion show).

This book is probably one of the best books I've ever read! (I saw Emily Atack on I'm a Celebrity and she instantly became my favourite on the show.) My favourite chapters are: 'Five Foods to Take on a Desert Island' and 'It's a Jungle Out There'. The book was funny, interesting and amazing. I also really liked the dedication and the acknowledgments. I couldn't put the book down. I highly recommend reading this if you're a fan of Emily.

This book was brilliant! I love Emily and she's so kind. The book is an autobiography. I loved the chapter 'It's a Jungle out there'. There were lots of lovely chapters. This book was the perfect length - not too short and not too long. Fantastic, Emily! Her dedication 'For my Uncle, Simon Barnes' is really lovely.

3.5!- Very very quick read, audiobook is lovely, you really get Emily’s warm nature. However, missed the mark a little bit for me. Maybe would have liked to know more about I’m a celeb experience etc.

These last few months have been awful and heartbreaking
This book has got me back into reading when I had abandoned it completely. I started this yesterday and finished it last night. One of the easiest reads and so relatable!

I love Emily but unfortunately for me this book was a bit basic. Very easy reading but I’d of liked more depth. It felt a bit like a series of thank yous for her achievements in life and I’d of loved more of the nitty gritty.

An interesting read in finding out how Emily made it to be one the best female comedians in the UK. The book tells how she didn't let rejections from auditions bother her and how the inbetweeners role changed her life.

Lighthearted and funny. Good read. 1 annoying part was when she said we don’t need to make sacrifices to get what we want, ‘if it’s meant for us it will come’ (she was talking about jobs and obviously has never been concerned about paying bills)

I actually enjoyed this more than I did Dolly Aldertons book! Similar in many ways but Emily’s seemed more down to earth, northern & warm. What a lovely human.

**AUDIBLE**

I really do love Emily Atack so I was excited to read her memoir ... all I can say is I was slightly underwhelmed. I listened to this book on Audible, and I did enjoy that Emily narrated the book herself; injecting her fun, energy and enthusiasm into each chapter. This really made the book for me. On the flip side it wasn’t the most interesting book I have read but in hindsight she’s quit young so has much more of her life to live! The stories were ok but I did feel like not much happened. I wouldn’t call this a must-read but maybe give this a go if you love Emily’s humour!

I absolutely loved this book and it discussed many relevant and current topics and issues that many people face everyday. It showed no one has a perfect life and that it okay not be okay. The chapters were really thought about and so much was covered thoughout the boom

Emily wrote this book at the same age I am now, and I felt I could really relate. It’s an easy, but enjoyable, read filled with relatable situations and a few life lessons. She covers all manner of topics - love, work, mental health - and does it in a way that’s open and honest. I really enjoyed it!
