Masked men desire her blood. Strangers long for her to join their cause, and a gorgeous man with magic of his own seeks to forge a forbidden bond between them.

For Mirella, there is no escape. Bodies surface, and killers run rampant as her people are hunted and slaughtered. Mirella is the only one who can save them. Trapped in a life she doesn't want, Mirella must find the strength to summon the power inside of her--or risk the extinction of her kind.

Good Attempt

I found the main character, Mirella annoying and child like in her decision making and emotions. She never learned from her mistakes and fell into one trap after another.

I struggled on; reading the complete series and expecting the character to develop and become smarter when dealing with her enemies but that never happened.

Nice story but, too many mistakes!!

Very nice story line. Interesting plot twists too. BUT so many mistakes, confusing errors that don't make sense. Needs to be proof read. It could be so much better with just a little bit of work

All 5 star stories. Fantastic series.

Heart Seeker
Mirella is absolutely fabulous. The training that she received from her mother to distrust everybody holds sway over almost all aspects of her life. Very independent, but she wants desperately to be part of a fun and loving group: more than just herself.

Flame Caster
Tragic tale. Mirelle and Ellie are delightful characters. Most of the rest are bullies especially the elders. Unpredictable. Heart wrenching.

Earth Shaker
Cora is a delight. Rye is a gentle man. There are many other wonderful characters. There is plenty of action. A little romance. And a lot of sorrow.

Sorrow Bringer
Great tragedy. Mirella is a fabulous character with many strengths and weaknesses. This story sees her through some well written sorrows. I look forward to learning what happens in her future.

Soul Wanderer: 5 stars
Dark fantasy with a few beacons of light. Kane and Trina are welcome new characters. I enjoyed the story and hope that you do as well.

Fate Summoner
Great tragedy. Hopefully, you have been following along through the other stories in the series. Mirella's life is not simple. And tragedy strikes all around her. But, hope has started to light her life just a bit. There must be more to come and I look forward to reading the next part of Mirella's story.

War Maiden
Like the earlier stories, Mirella almost never gets a break. Things might be changing. Includes mildly erotic scenes. Many heart wrenching events. But other heart warming ones as well. I enjoyed it.

I received a copy of this book as a gift. This is my honest review.

Action-packed. Easy-to-read. Entertaining. Happily Ever After. Haunting. Romantic. Scary. Steamy. Tear-jerker. Tragic. Twisted. Unpredictable. Wonderful characters.

Fast paced with many twists and turns

This is one of those book series where you get so caught up in the events and characters you don't realize just how long you've been reading until you glance up and realize it's 2 am and you have less than four hours to sleep before you need to be at work.

A pure 3 star.

Overall: The author has talent, and this is a fun semi-YA (half a chilli pepper of spice in later books) series that is good background noise for a drive to work, but I think she lost interest in this series halfway through and started thinking about what else she wanted to write. It's a great world, I do like the respect it shows (to my outsider understanding) the Romani people, and most of the characters are interesting.

There are just 2 major issues, however, that really dragged it down for me:

1) Internal logic. This is a magic among us story with ATLA powers, werewolves, remnants (like monster vampires), alchemists (like potion making magic ninjas), tree guardians, wyverns and DRAGONS, even a titan...but its modern day with cellphones. Nothing is done to show why humans don't know about these things, humans have no issue seeing and interacting with them, and its mostly hand waved away. Not an issue in isolation, but we also have a 200 year old character falling in love with a 20-something year old...no mention of how it happens or what they talk about. We have a whole subplot about a guy becomming a werewolf elder that's just kind of....glossed over in passing (I think I saw the author has a newer werewolf series, and I think it may have grown out of an abortive novella), and we have a Harry Potter style back half of the series where convenient magic items just kind of randomly appear. It's all a strain on suspension of disbelief that doesn't ruin the read, but assuredly makes it less memorable, except to imagine how CinemaSins might lampoon it.

2) Mirella. Okay, so, the main character in this sort of story is supposed to be kinda dumb. I get that, it lets us learn about the world with them. But there is Katniss and Tris dumb, there is Bella dumb, there is Mr. Bean, there is can't spell your own name, and then there is Mirella. It's bad when you start rooting for the villains because the FMC might as well have a habit of handing them knives and turning her back. If not for the Novella Earth Shaker I'd have DNF'd this series. Corra, the FMC from Earth Shaker was interesting, and really showed the author's talent. Mirella? This could have been a single novel if she had common sense and a willingness to kill, maybe a trilogy if she insisted on YA level goody-good bs. Mirella puts herself in danger out of stubbornness, gets people killed because she ran her mouth, waffles like an embattled politician with every decision, doesn't have a concept of diplomacy until its literally forced on her...and derails a life or death WAR because of boyfriend drama!

I'm not kidding, people are dying by the dozens (no cops to notice) and she has a whole tangent about letting her ex kiss her and it hurting her new guy's feelings. Like, hello, we're adults and bodies are piling up. Does (spoiler) really like me? Will (spoiler) ever forgive me? It can wait.

I liked this world, and I wish the author would revamp the series after some seasoning and reflection, but if I were there and Mirella were in charge, I'd storm off and hang with Muma in the forest.

So I have done separate reviews for individual books but I felt the need to leave a review here as well.

As mentioned in my previous reviews there is an insane amount of typos (Kindle edition) which sometimes made me really frustrated because all of them were very silly and could've easily be spotted while doing a proof-read. Surprisingly, the very last book was pretty much typo-free and was very pleasant to read.

It seemed like every other book felt a little bit dragged but I'm glad that I pushed through because it was definitely worth it. I'm very pleased that the last book didn't feel rushed (as it sometimes happens with long chronicles) and the whole story was wrapped up beautifully and smoothly.

Non stop excitement.

I enjoyed the discoveries and world building of this series A simple college student/dance instructor develops into a badass magical leader of a society of powerful beings and stays humble and loving while she does so. It didn't hurt to have a few steamy love scenes along the way.
One criticism I have would be in editing of the text; all too often incorrect words were used simply because they were spelled correctly. An example I saw a few times was the word " irradiated " being used when "radiated" was what the author meant. This issue is one we modern readers must endure as the art of editing falls by the wayside...

I think the bones here were good but it doesn’t land. I rage read book 4-5 and skimmed 6 because I couldn’t figure out the love interest situation. I kept hoping that it would seem right in the end but it just didn’t work for me at all. It was downhill from book 3 for me. I feel books 1-2 did a decent job creating an interest in/attachment to characters and that was basically thrown away in book 3 and new characters/storyline’s introduced did not get the same treatment. I really only read on to get confirmation of the ending. Completely lost interest in the plot.

i enjoyed the series, just wished that her dance would of been included into her new life as a way of battle and that other charters had more depth in the story. i enjoy getting to understand Cora a little better with the novella included with the set. looking forward to reading the authors other works.

The Fire Heart Chronicles Complete Series by Juliana Haygert: 4 stars
This series has a lot of twists and turns, a generally good pace, and likable characters. It did leave me puzzled as to what some of the (evil) motivations were, but it was overall entertaining with a nice wrap up.

DNF - Chapter 6

Normally with an UF book that is setting up the background there is enough interest in the world and characters that you keep reading to see where things are going to go. Not so with this book, in my opinion. 6 chapters in and I was bored with the characters so much that the limited world building info wasn't enough to keep me reading.

The fire heart chronicles

Because I enjoyed this series of books I decided the grammatical errors would be somewhat overlooked. A bit cheesy and irreconcilable in areas I still read zealously.

Conflicted

I read the entire series this week. Mirella discovers that she’s not human, but Tzagane a super powerful Romani gypsy. The world is filled with Revenants (vampires), Wuz (Werewolves), and Alchemists who seek to destroy the Tzagane with their own supercharged powers. The world creation was good for the most part taking place in deserted forests, small towns and mountainous areas. Additionally, Mirella discovers she’s the most powerful of Tzagane - the Heart Maiden - who must protect the others from all their enemies when all she really wants is to trust others and be at peace.

Mirella falls in and out of love with different men when she recognizes her poor judgment and they reveal themselves as untrustworthy. She’s super tough and powerful, but agonizes over each enemy she kills. She understandably struggles to trust her mother after a lifetime of lies about Mirella’s true identity. She grew up thinking she was an only child, but as the lies unravel she discovers a family of friends and blood ties.

Sometimes after 6 novels the stories seemed formulaic. On Mirella’s personal level - believe/trust someone, have faith broken, agonize, kill or watch them be killed and agonize more even though they deserved it. As a Heart Maiden, feel unworthy of everyone’s love, but rise above all challenges and challengers to protect her people. Gain experience and power along the way, but not much wisdom as she repeats the same pattern. Romantic interests abound. Even throws in a homosexual relationship in the final book.

The author wants us to believe Mirella is a good person who makes mistakes and “does better” in future endeavors. Also, that she’s a moral person bc she’s conflicted over killing an enemy, but she accepts sex with multiple boyfriends before marriage is normal. Feeling bad about something makes characters good people even if they behave poorly. Finally, committed homosexual relationships are equal to committed heterosexual relationships - although that message is left to the final novel when you’re already invested in the series.

The last novel had many editing errors and the process was obviously rushed, even leaving in crossed out words. The first five only had rare issues.

The book ends with the Tzaganes at peace; the Heart Maiden’s goal accomplished.
