Zach Connors, known as Grizzly Killer, and his family and friends have searched for the buffalo that will sustain them through the coming winter, which leads them dangerously close to the land of their enemies, the Cheyenne and Arapaho. The Chief of the Cheyenne village, Blue Dog, wants revenge against Zach who he blames for his brother’s death. Blue Dog sends for White Snake, the powerful Medicine Man of the Southern Cheyenne, and then leads a band of his best warriors to the land of Grizzly Killer to wipe him and everyone he cares about from the face of the earth. While Blue Dog searches for him, Zach and his partners hunt the always dangerous buffalo and fight both Arapaho and other Cheyenne having to flee the land of their enemies only to find themselves in a fight for their lives against Blue Dog. Johnston, throughout his life, Warenski loves reading the history of the first explorers that came west, most of whom never dreamed they were opening this wild and rugged land to the pioneers and settlers that followed.
Was going to review all the books I read but didn't. I just went ahead and downloaded the next sample and then the book. All the books are excellent each one can stand on its own. Yet, together they become a marvelous life story. One young man with a code based on justice with a high moral code that adapts to changing circumstances in a wild and savage land. By events force upon him he become by his indian name Grizzly killer. Loved by his friends but feared by he enemies. Start with number one you will not be disappointed. For now I'm moving on to "The Trading Post. Hope to see you there. David C. Wall, Sr.
This is an exciting adventurous and exciting story in this tale of Grizzly Killer, his friends and his mortal enemies. This yearly trip for buffalo did not go as planned. They are caught between to enemy tribes of warriors. They encounter much hardship, pain and death. Not being g able to finish the story in one evening if was very hard to put it down until today. Another A+, 5* story for Lane Warenski.
Mr. Warenski, has rose to me a comparison, to a storyteller so intriguing and talented in prose as my long time favorite Lamour!! His prose puts me into a state of my belief of what the early years of growth of the times of old west, that I feel so enamored to continue looking forward to more of the old times whether fact or fiction of “How the West was Won”!! Thank you Lane for your writings!!
I am so fascinated by Grizzly Killer's mind! His battle of the sixteen Cheyenne was beyond suburb. With each of this author's books I read, I'm getting closer to the end of this 14 Series. This makes me so sad as I can't imagine not having Grizzly Killer books to read every day!
This particular storyline in the series is a bit different in that none of the groups are actually living within a home tribe. There are adventures for hunting, battles to survive enemies and storms that make it difficult to live. Friends die from fighting evil and I cried. I'm left wondering if the spotted horse can find a family after being given his freedom. Now I need the next book!
I have been taken prisoner by this series. It has caused me many days of missed work, lost sleep, terrible procrastination. I'm going to not read another one.......yeah! Like I could stop myself!!!!
I'm very glad to have discovered Lane R Warenski's novels. He writes an enthralling story. As happy as I am with his books, I am equally disgusted with Wolfpack Publishing for their failure to provide a good editor. They fail all their authors.
As usual Warenski has given us an excellent read! Great addition to the series saga of a mountain man & his family. Well developed characters, action plus with accurate geographical descriptive of the area.
I've enjoyed all 8 books in the Grizzly Killer series so far. This time Zack and friends are stalked by Cheyenne Dog Soldiers led by a vengeful Chief and wicked Medicine Man. Lots of battles and sadness towards the end.
Another book you don't want to put down until you have it all read. I can't wait to read the next book. Not only does the story keep your attention, it will make you laugh, cry, smile at the innocence and keep you in suspense. Loved it.
Being the 8th book in the series I can only say that they seem to get better the plot the characters All All seem to come to life And how do you spell bound Can't wait to read the next 1
I agree with a few other's that this is by far the best of the series up til now. It's almost like this one was written by a different person. Don't know, it's striking the improvement with White Snake, and the book immediately prior which I ranked a 4 Star.
I dissed Book 1. 2 wasn't much better 3 got better still.
White Snake still had a few words that skipped by spell check but can't complain.
I don't know what the remainder of Warenski's books are like.
So far I can find very little fault with this entire series. One is the statement "they covered the grave with stones to keep away all scavengers ". Apparently the author has never seen a bear hunt and dig for food.
Lane R Warenski - Grizzly Killer Bk 8 - White Snake - Reviewed 7/22/19 Evil followed them on their buffalo hunt that almost ended the Grizzly Killers family!!!
Meat is the only thing that will sustain the Grizzly killers family and friends over the winter. They have found the buffalo herd many miles south of their home and their normal hunting grounds. The buffalo has been forced south to survive too. Being this far south has put them also near their enemies so they are on the watch for them. Blue Dog, chief of the Cheyenne’s and an enemy of Grizzly Killer wants revenge for his brother's death and it has taken over his life. He has called on the Medicine Man of the Southern Cheyenne, White Snake to give him the power over his enemy and to lead him so that he may kill him and all of his family. Between hunting, their enemies and his daughter’s vivid dreams the Grizzly Killer has all that he can handle.
What did I like? This has been a very exciting series and this one has taken excitement over the top. The family and all of their problems have always been thrilling but the author has outdone himself with the electrifying action.
What will you like? Well written, sensational, rousing and definitely not boring. Excellent research shows on every page with the descriptions taking you right into the action. I know that I had trouble putting it down and I am sure it will the same for you. Great ending and looking forward to the next book in the series. I received this from the publisher in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion. All opinions expressed are my own and not edited by anyone but me.
Fortunately,I have had the opportunity to enjoy reading all of the books in this series, and each new story appears to be better than the previous release. This one certainly has several calls for western justice and Grizzly Killer, along with his dedicated followers, have no problem seeing it served.
Definitely a five star masterpiece,if there has ever been one written. This is an outstanding compassionate rendition of old American western folklore that has one exciting adventure after the other. The camaraderie of Zach and cohorts as they are involved in one intense battle after the other in they quest of enough buffalo meat to last throughout the bitter cold of winter. The storylines of this outstanding story reaches out and grabs the reader's undivided attention from beginning to end. Too, the character selections were outstandingly selected and the good guys were very heartwarming throughout the entire story! There are several tear jerking episodes that will definitely grab your heartstrings. A couple of episodes really show a different side of Grizzly, and his family, when they lose a couple of their own members. But,that may be too much information. I would be remiss if failed to recommend this compassionately motivated success story, as well as this entire series. Therefore, without any hesitation, I certainly recommend to all you readers, regardless of your material preference. This story is such a heartwarming rendition of our truly believable old American western folklore adventures, that you must take the time to follow Grizzly, and crew, through one hazardous adventure after another. Your loss if you do not.
Just finished reading book number 8 , I have now read all 8 books and ordered number 9 , can't wait to read the ongoing adventures of the best mountain man ever. Please Lane , don't kill off anymore of the main characters , then you will never run out of adventures. Best thought out story line I have read in years , well done .
I would read for a couple of hours, then think about this tale for a day. Then pick up my kindle and read a few more hours, and think on the lives, the customs, the spirit world of the shamans, and medicine men, the unexplainable finally making since in their lives, by the strength of their mystical medicine or lack thereof. Fascinating read, brutal times on the frontier. I guess I’m going to read more of this series. I’m drawn to it, my spirit seems to seek to know more of this story.
I will try to write this and put enough words in to get twenty words the reviews would be better if people like me who don’t like a bunch of writing could put in what they want with it few words and not be able to send it because you dictate the amount of words This person is a great writer he is getting repetitive just to fill up space I look forward to seeing more grizzly killer books
Review of 'Grizzly Killer: White Snake ' by John Lietzke
This is the 8th book of Grizzly Killer series; it's as good as the first. I gave the book 5 stars because I liked it, it didn't even have a story about killing a grizzly bear. I was disappointed. Overall it was very good reading.
Another great book!!!! Keppes you turning the pages. Great writing and vivid scenery and characters. A very hard book to put down. I like this writers style of writing and this is one of the all-time great series of books.
Warenski is a gifted writer, able to use some of the same characters, areas and early frontier challenges over and over and yet always keep the stories freshly enjoyable and entertaining. Always a good choice to read any of his novels.
Grizzly Killer is still just trying to live his life, not bothering anyone. He is set upon by more troubles not of his doing. Ride along with him and Ol ' Red as they fight their way way back home.
Another good Grizzly Killer story. A lot of times series can get old but not this one. I hope they keep coming . I will keep reading them. You won't be disappointed to read it.
This book is a potential 5 star read. The only real problem with this one is the same as with all the others. Apparently the editors and/or beta readers or not really reading the books but just skimming through them and missing a lot of careless mistakes. Otherwise this is a very good series.
