Bluey has been a phenomenal success since airing on ABC KIDS in October 2018, amassing legions of dedicated fans and taking the coveted position of being the most watched program ever on ABC iView, with over 170 million plays. It has also topped the Australian iTunes Kids Chart with the series peaking at #1 and consistently remaining in the Top 5.
Bluey is a 6 year old Blue Heeler pup who loves to play. Her parents and teacher give her lots of time to practice, which means she’s become very good at inventing games, helping everyone choose their roles and deciding on the rules. Her favourite games are ones that involve lots of other kids and grown-ups (especially her dad) and she mainly likes to pretend she’s a grown up doing grownup things herself.
Bluey is an Australian children's television program by the Emmy award-winning Ludo Studio for ABC KIDS and is co-commissioned by ABC Children's and BBC Studios.
Good story, but I liked Grannies better... Still a story of trying new things and overcoming them. I love how Bandit get totally involved as a dad (like he should). Could relate as I also love going to the creek...
I absolutely love Bluey - the show and now the lil books! This is one of my favourite episodes so far and it was really nice to see it I book form. I think both the books and the show perfectly encapsulate childhood and the things children can fave, in this case braving a new and seemingly dangerous (yet ultimately beautiful) environment. This was super cosy and a lovely quick read!
Bluey's family convinces Bluey that going out into nature can be as much fun as playing on the playground. I'm 100% in favor of a (safe) walk through the woods, but making mud masks with random river mud is a bit much.
To begin, I would like to share a tale on how I discovered this masterpiece. Now I had been in a little bit of a rough patch in my life, my husband had divorced me, I had lost my wallet and lost custody of my children. As I made my way to the bar to drown my sorrows I happened to walk past the best thing to happen to me. It was a moment of instant disbelief. It was one minute before closing, they were just beginning to turn the open sign to closed. I wrapped my coat tight forgetting instantly about the cold. I threw open my hands, running towards to door, yelling "PLEASE! WAIT PLEASE!". They let me in... Then I saw it. It was calling to me. I locked eyes with the beautiful cover, reminding me of the life I once had. It stood shining in the one light, across the store. I made my way over, tears rolling down my face. It was the last one left, it was fate, destiny written in the stars. I gently moved it off the shelf, ran to the counter, and threw a $50 note not caring about the change. The employee kissed the book and wrapped it in delicate paper, taking care to make sure it was safe. I made my way out of the store. The walk home I felt nothing but excitement, I could see nothing, feel nothing else, nothing apart from the beautiful book in my hands. Reading this book was the single most amazing and enlightening moment of my life. This saved me. #bluey4eva #blueylovers
This book, in true Bluey fashion, unfolds profound meanings of life simply by taking us on a new adventure to a creek. For those stuck in a rut and curious to try something new, but feel nevertheless strained by the challenges of change and newness —- whew, this book will strike a chord. A sweet reminder of the journey of stretching yourself outside your comfort zone and the beauty you can find when you do it in community.
For your toddler, it may have them in a sense of wonder about what creeks are - particularly if they‘ve never seen a creek. However, both parents and toddlers will walk away with a few found urge to perhaps venture into nature or try something new together.

My 20-something kids first told me about Bluey a year or so ago. Sure, I'd been seeing Bluey books at work (at the library) for a while, so it's not like I was completely unaware of Bluey's existence. I just didn't realize how cool the whole saga is.
This book is about a trip they all take to a creek that Bluey's Dad played at when HE was a kid. It brought back memories of when I was a kid, going to the creek with my cousins. It's not the same kind of playground as a human-constructed one, but oh my! is the creek an amazing playground!
Sweet, gentle little story about the joys of unstructured play in the outdoors and enjoying the sights and sounds of wooded places. The bit of nature located right by the playground becomes a magical place for the pups to play. I also appreciated that they enjoyed watching the wild creatures there without attempting to chase or harass them. This story reminded me of how much I enjoyed playing alongside the creek by our house as a child.
Grandie gave this book to Jack, and she brought it out for our road trip back to Mississippi. Jack seemed to like it, but I don't think he asked to read it multiple times like some of the other books. I was driving, so I didn't get an instinct impression about his reaction.
Your standard Bluey episode book. I will admit that I wasn't wild about the leech not being shown as something to avoid, because my toddler is around them a lot at the moment.
Cute story. It mostly just summarizes the tv episode and doesn’t really feel like it’s telling a story though. I enjoyed the tv episode more but the book was ok.
Sadly, the book doesn’t do this episode justice. With the music such a key feature, it’s obviously absent. There are though clear lessons about how we can play and how we can create our own fun.
Very cute story about nature and adventure. I watched a video of this being read by Bindi Irwin. I love her voice and she put so much emotion into it that I felt like I was there.
There's Bluey and there is a creek and well that's pretty much the story, not so bad, but not much there really, a cash cow for the creators of Bluey really.
We bought this while in Stratford to see Wendy & Peter. Kait read the entire thing while I stopped for a coffee and then I read it to them both this evening.
