"Your Honor meets Breaking Bad... all it's missing is Cranston!" - Reviewer
Crime scene clean-up expert Tommy Wilde is used to tidying up other people's messes, and he's damn good at it. But when it's his own hands that get dirty, the stains suddenly seem impossible to remove.
It's like any other day for Tommy another crime scene to clean-up, blood stains to remove from carpeting, tissue to scrape out of wood flooring. Everything is absolutely normal... up until the moment he receives a frantic call from his brother.
Within minutes, Tommy finds himself at the scene of a brutal murder, one that requires much more than just bleach and elbow grease to clean up. In the blink of an eye,
Tommy's day goes from bad to utterly terrifying as he finds himself entangled in a web of death and destruction that includes mobsters, the Church, a heroin ring, a secret past, and a dead body that just won’t... go... away. And that's all in the first Wilde Night.

True story: I used to cut up bodies. No, not for fun, you sickos–for work. After reaching the age of majority and fleeing the clutches of an overprotective mother, I went to university like a good boy.
More than a decade later and an alphabet soup of letters after my name, I found myself looking down the double-chamber of a microscope at an eyeball. Feeling ironically introspective, I decided that it was time for a change.
After seventy plus novels and more than a million copies sold, I’ve found my true calling, one that also includes a plethora of letters. Hopefully you see something in my catalog that you like, something to feast your eyes on.
I also have two spooky podcasts that are appropriate for ALL ages, so long as you like to be scared: P.T. Logan's Five Minutes of Terror and Camp Fear. Both are FREE and available on all podcast platforms. For MATURE audiences, I've created two fiction podcasts, Nightmare Residue and Bad Priest.

This is the beginning of a new series featuring Tommy Wilde. Tommy is a professional cleaner ... specializing in crime scenes... removing blood stains from all manner of things, scraping bits of body parts wherever. He's really good at his job and he's managed to afford an assistant, even though he can't pay him today.
While cleaning up one crime scene, he gets call from his brother, Brian. Brian is almost hysterical and needs his brother ... NOW.
Once again, Tommy is cleaning up after his brother and finds himself involved in a heroine ring, a Mafia drug leader, mobsters, and the finding of a dead body in the Church. And that's all in the first Wilde Night.
This is a new author to me and I wasn't sure what to expect. What I found is a 'wild' ride in less than 200 pages. There's action galore that starts on the first page and doesn't stop until the final unexpected conclusion. There is a cliffhanger that should be instrumental in the next adventure. Good news ... next 3 books in the series is already available .. no waiting. The characters are solidly drawn.. likeable or not, it was quite a night!
Many thanks to the author for the digital copy of this crime fiction/thriller. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.
I wanted to love this book. The premise of a crime scene clean-up company and all the possible situations a cleaner might face is a great one. A protagonist who grew up on the streets and put himself through college is also great. That same guy then chucking a career in academia or a laboratory after spending years earning two PhDs in scientific fields because he didn't like what could be called 'office politics'? Sure. I can believe that.
The sentence structure and editing were mostly good. (There were a couple of homonym mix-ups and extra words near the end, but nothing too egregious. I did get tired of the word 'irrespective,' though.) Kindle formatting was well done.
Also, good job on researching stain removal. The technical explanations helped sell Tommy's background.
BUT, double PhD Tommy making the string of illogical and emotion-based choices presented here? I'm sorry, that was where the bus stopped for me. These were not the actions of a person who should have been street-smart based on his hinted childhood, and certainly not those a person who devoted years of his life to the study of science.
Yeah, I get that the guy loves his drug-addled brother, but what sane, sober person would make the irrational choices Tommy does? Overall, it was too frustrating for me.
Wow! Tommy Wilde is the sole proprietor of "Wilde Clean-Up," who you call to clean up a crime scene after investigators and medical examiners are finished with their part. What this novel lacks in believability is more than made up in adrenaline! ... Tommy has indeed had one wild night! ... This is the first of a four book series - I'll soon be devouring the next episode!
Just as I was feeling like I knew all of the characters in Patrick Logan’s books, he throws a curveball! Anxious to see where this leads and if anyone crosses over!
This is my first book by Patrick Logan. It is a fascinating story, quick paced, about Tommy who just wants a “normal” life. But it is anything but normal. It just goes from one problem to another and another which all starts with his brother Brian. Will he ever get on track?
Patrick Logan gas done it again with The Tommy Wilde series. Tommy a hard working man, trying to make a living, take care of family, gets himself into a real mess. I can't wait to see how he turns everything around on the mob, and get his life and business back. Thanks Patrick for writing the best thrillers...
This is a good read. It has an interesting plot but I wasn't particularly invested in the character Tommy because he immediately makes a bad decision but you don't know why he would do this and never really find out. I also really dislike books that end with the character getting into a new "crisis" situation which can only be answered by reading the next in the series. I read a lot of series books (Jack Ryan Jr, Pike Logan, etc). I every case the author writes and concludes a good story plot. I want to read the next book not forced to do so.
Awesome, fast paced read. You won't regret reading any book by this author! I challenge you to read one of his books...you will, undoubtedly, be hooked!
I like this series however I feel like it could have been a great (1) book over 3 seperate ones. I know its not that big of a deal but I just prefer having a full story in one book over multi short ones. Its a new idea that kept me interested and entertained.
Still don't like stories that are predicated on dumb decision after dumb decision just because (and probably never will for good reason).
This effort felt like a transcript of a Wish version of CSI. The smartest guy in the room, our lead, is supposed to know better than to just remove a corpse without notifying authorities (even if it is for his junkie brother.) But the poor decisions and subsequent situations ensue to the point of losing his business, his pinkie finger, and... who knows what else as Logan didn't finish the story aka cliffhanger used by amateur writers to sell more books. P.S. not falling for it, just saying.
Tommy never achieved any level of hype, believability nor necessity to read further. Anyone can google blood removal recipes, so what? That was the depth of intrigue for the clean-up service.
The contrivances were stereotypical, the mafioso was watered down, the rationale was non-existent, the literary theft was obvious (tomato cans in the walk-in fridge was the same as the Bear premise, although not sure who stole from whom here), but why would Tommy agree to a monthly 100K when he was barely making ends meet with this business model and one employee?
Got a minor Dexter vibe from the long-term premise of using crime scenes for more criminal activity, but Logan isn't delivering the goods for me. There is no upside or successful resolution to this character. I am out.
Not recommended unless you need a good neck workout from shaking your head at the incredulous happenings.
What trouble could a man, doing a legally paid job, cleaning up other people's messes get himself into? Tommy Wilde was employed to clean up the messes other people made. Mostly he was engaged in cleaning up areas in and around major fatalities such as a property where the owner had decided to end it all and commit suicide. Tommy was extremely good at his job and managed to have very favourable results. This was before his older brother, Brian, a drug dependant creature, finally got him involved in a murder, but not just any murder but the murder of a drug dealer working for one of the most notorious gangland groups in the country. This is where you can get in serious trouble as, of course, he does. This is only the beginning of his troubles.
Not a long book and it stops on a cliff hanger. The books is about one day or so in Tommy Wilde’s life. I can say I was totally confused on what was going on. I have never read any of Patrick Logan’s books but I feel like this is part of another series and maybe picks up where that left off. It probably would not be bad except this book is just long enough that it had me wondering what the heck was going on, then it ends. I have lost and hour of my life just to be confused by a book. Not a good way to start a series for me. I am giving this one a pass, but good luck and happy reading to die hard fans.
What an interesting concept for a job, a crime scene cleaner. I never gave it much thought but it makes sense that someone would need to clean it up. Tommy just could not catch a break in this book and kept finding himself in deeper trouble. His family loyalty is pretty strong considering his brother is a druggie and an overall *ckup. Such a “smart” person to be in such a horrible life situation. The author left enough open questions to intrigue the reader to read more. I’m not sure I will, it was a little disjointed maybe in a lull.
How can someone who has PHDs and is running their own business be so gullible ? It's good that he is ,don't get me wrong otherwise there'd be no story but I would have left Brian to stew in his own juices. A friend, even if he's your brother, would lend you money at best but getting rid of a body for you goes above and beyond and being involved with cops on the take and in bed with the mob at the same time would be too much to contemplate. The story is fine but I just feel sorry for the lead character and really can't see how he is going to improve his situation.
I love Patrick Logan but this series just isn’t doing it for me like Detective Drake, Chase Adams and Beckett. I made myself finish the book because I thought it was going to pick up and get better.
Tommy Wilde gets sucked into a murder because of his brother. He cleans up the messes no one else wants to do. He keeps cleaning up after his brother who is married with a child but he is a drug addict that has no clue.
He mentions a few other characters from other books but no big relationships with them. In one day he was all of a sudden working with the mob. Way too much going on with no real details about his brother or his own personal life.
I’m just not invested into this character like the rest. I’ll probably read the other three after I get all caught up with Drake and Chase.
Tommy Wilde is certainly an interesting character. Frankly I'm glad this is a series because this in depth character has lots of room to grow. A mysterious background will keep you wondering what makes Tommy tick ad he cleans up crime scenes. This reader looks forward to learning more. A great read.
There’s nothing thrilling about One Wilde Night. It’s one long, drawn out night. Every chapter I think day is coming and it doesn’t. Once the mobsters came in I almost didn’t finish the book. Crime scene clean up to breaking into a church to throwing a body in the river to encounter with Mr Bad Cop to, it goes on and on and there’s no ending. None.
After a few pages I didn't think I was going to like this book but after a few pages it turned into a page turner the main character Tommy Wilde is quite relatable not a bad guy at heart but one bad decision leads to another and so on now he has to find a way out if another jam on to the next book
I knew Tommy from reading the other series but really I knew nothing about him. This first book was nonstop action from word one. What Tommy goes through because of his dumb ass brother is unbelievable. He's a much better person than I am because brother or not there's only so much shit you can put up with. I can't even begin to imagine what's coming next so I'm go to find out.
Author tries to make a hero who owns a mop and bucket instead of cape. Hero's sidekick (his brother) continually thwarts hero actions to save their lives. Nice plot twists and examples of what it means to be my brother's keeper (actual). Reality stretched but remember this is fiction. Recommend reading.
Interesting storyline. But I’m so glad it was a short read because it was torturous at times from the excessive use of the F-bomb, and numerous typographical errors (kindle version) among other things.
