“What separates Marvel characters from all other superheroes is that they are people first and superheroes second” - Stan Lee

Wow! This book is a must have for any superhero fan! It is filled to the brim with amazing history of all your favourite Marvel characters and their journey from comic books to the big screen!

It is broken up in to 8 parts and showcases the big names in the Marvel universe and who created them from Jack Kirby to Stan Lee! We are taken on an adventure down the Marvel timeline and shown how the franchise developed into the Marvel we have today!

This stunningly illustrated volume features all our favourites from The Avengers to Spider-Man to Ghost Rider and many more! If you’re a fan of superheroes, then this book is for you!

Thank you so much to Scholastic AU for sending me this fabulous encyclopaedia of Marvel for review!

This is the perfect book to give your son or daughter, both young and old. I read this entire book with my 6 year old baby cousin who is a huge Marvel fan. He couldn’t believe how wide the marvel encyclopaedia was and was fascinated. Then my 23 year old partner saw it he became obsessed. The book not only included vital information regarding the characters and their origin stories but which comic books they first arrived in. This not only contains amazing information but gorgeous graphics both artworks and original comic book covers!

Thank you to @scholastic_au for sending me a copy of this book. This one is definitely a must have for Marvel fans. It goes through the history if Marvel, how it started out and evolved over the years to become what it is today. It has full colour pages with some of the various comic book covers and pages from the history of Marvel. There is info on the different creators, editors, artists and others involved in the making of the comics as well as info on how some of the main Marvel characters came to be and how they evolved over time.

As a lover of Marvel I loved learning the history of the comics and it left me wanting to maybe look at getting some of the comics to read one day 😊 I learnt some fun facts about the different facets of Marvel, some i had no idea about which was cool 😊 I know Christmas is done and dusted but this would make a great gift for any Marvel fan 😊

I received this in exchange for a review from Scholastic Australia.

I loved it! This was a lot of fun, reading up about my favourite universe. The pinky downside being it wasn’t long enough 😂

1 / 5 for 'Marvel Museum' by Ned Hartley

Not a great book to be fair - I'm rather glad I only paid £3 for it pre-owned. From the outside, it looks like it's going to be an enjoyable, over-sized celebration of the first 80 years of Marvel Comics.

It's not. In fact, it's pretty crap.

The oversized pages, which could have been stuffed full of text and stat boxes, make you think you're going to be in for a wonderful load of information...but instead, the makers of this book have decided to just use huge fonts to fill the pages, so there isn't anywhere near as much text as you would expect, for a book of this size. There's not much text at all.

The artwork is nice and very well-replicated, and it's nice to see important creators and artists being discussed, instead of people just banging on about Stan Lee. It's good to see Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko, John Romita and Gene Colan getting mentions and column inches.

But, if it's supposed to be covering 80 years of Marvel history, should there not be even at least a small section on people like John Buscema, John Byrne, Walt Simonsen, Jim Lee etc?

Such a waste of a book. There was so much potential; so much that could, and should, have been referenced and celebrated, but instead, they just give us a few pages of massive-sized text and a few full-page pictures, which really only focus on the 1930s up to the 1980s / 1990s.

This book was a big disappointment and a real shame.

4 stars because I LOVE this book as a fan and an artist, but 3 stars for contents.

It’s almost more of an art collection book than a history of Marvel. It doesn’t go a whole lot further than the basics. I do really enjoy having this book in my collection and I think it would be a great/fun book for (beginning) Marvel fans.

There were also quite a few mistakes.. Which is a pity for such a short book. Examples: (1) Tony Stark is said to have had the most costume changes of all Marvel characters, but literally one page later we're told Janet van Dyne has changed costumes most of all the superheroes. (2) The timeline at the beginning of the book does not add up with what is told throughout the book.

Thank you to scholastic Australia for a copy of this book.
This is a really great look behind the scenes and a trip through history. My husband is a big marvel fan and he loved it and has it displayed proudly in his office. He wished it was longer but definitely a great addition to any marvel fans collection.

This history of Marvel comics is really well done! It's A3 sized, so the perfect display item for any fan. It's chock-full of beautiful artwork and fun facts, as well as a stunning timeline of characters.

I loved seeing the original designs for characters, and seeing how much they've changed in their current iterations!

Thank you scholastic for my gifting me a copy of this book!

The cover is really cool with its embossed details and all the characters! My favourites here are Hulk and Spiderman. Also the book has been produced in a really high quality when it comes down to the paper and cover. The only 'bad' thing is that it is quite huge and heavy so I can't just store it in my normal bookshelf as it's too big.

Otherwise, I totally love this book as it contains a lot of background information and history to all our beloved superheroes. It's great to see how the characters developed throughout the years and what the different creators had in store for the characters - and the fans for that matter - over time.

I can recommend 'Marvel Museum' to every fan of the Marvel Universe! Go get it so you don't miss out and make sure to let me know your thoughts!

This is a light weight coffee table book about Marvel's main characters and the artwork focusses on the 1960s era. It was interesting to learn about the original Human Torch, and the different staff involved.

Check out this amazing book I received from @scholastic_au this week. My hubby is a huuuuge Marvel fan, so I think he will really enjoy this one, as will my daughter who is obsessed with superheroes! .
I had a flip through the book and it begins at inception: a small studio called Timely Comics and the arrival of a young assistant called Stanley Lieber. And the rest is history! We are introduced to each character and franchise as well as the development of one of the most successful studios in comics and entertainment history! Thor, Black Panther, Captain America, the Avengers, Spiderman, X-Men and more are all featured with gorgeous original comics alongside.

This book is a must have for any Marvel fan. Detailing the origins of the marvel universe and some of the favourite characters include my favourite Wolverine. Beautiful colour illustrations are throughout the book as you would expect and it has the right balance between facts and those early comic images we love.

A big thank you to Scholastic for sending me a copy to review.
