Yaqui is a story of despair and defiant victory.

This short book tells the tale of Yaqui. Chief of his people, loving husband, and father. He ensures his people's enslavement and shows in the end the defiance of a man wronged. Zane Grey delivers a masterful story of a strong man that keeps you enthralled. I loved it!

A-Z Challenge 2022. Y.

A great collection of stories about the rugged American Northwest written with stylish pros by Zane Grey, the master of the western genre. Would love to read more of his stuff.

Tragically beautiful and blood-soaked tale of imperialism and indigenous dignity in Latin America. The story's almost Shakespearian ending is shocking, satisfying, and sad. The prose is more pared-down than Grey's other works, but he still lays down some vivid imagery.
