IN HER WORDS: I've been a writer all of my life -- it is who I am. I write for myself and always have. The ability to create pictures and emotions with words is such a miracle to me. I read everything; I mean everything! All kinds of books, even encyclopedias. I am fascinated by the written word and I love storytellers. It is a great privilege to be counted one myself. I usually love this authors work and jump on Amazon to purchase her next book when I hear it’s out, but I’m beginning to think I need to just stop. The biker series she had was a complete turn off and made me sick just trying to read it and now I’m feeling disinterested in the leopard series if this is the route she’s going to continue with. Feehan needs to seriously go to one of the clubs she writes about and experience bondage in her personal life considering that’s all she writes lately. Her writing lately consists of more sex than the actual storyline. If I wanted to read that much sex with kink I would just google porn. My personal taste for her work was for the strong female and male characters that had a vulnerable side to them, but took care of their mates. Her work is becoming darker and predictively repetitive. Again, that’s my personal opinion and many may disagree. If you’re not into bondage or the scenes with harnesses or masters/submissive, I would pass. I really hope her Ghost Walkers don’t follow into this change of sexual interest she’s been writing lately.
Leopard’s Rage by Christine Feehan is the thirteenth book in the Leopard series. It combines paranormal romance and supernatural suspense in a contemporary setting near Austin, Texas. Leopard shifter Sevastyan Amurov is a bodyguard to Mitya Amurov, his cousin. Sevastyan has a deep anger inside of him and has to maintain control at all times. The reasons are many, but to understand one needs to read the book. Flambe Carver has her own landscaping company and is on her way to discuss a job at Sevastyan’s place when her stalker ambushes her. Sevastyan takes her under his protection and their lives are turned upside down.
This book follows the normal pattern of two very strong characters, lots of action, and plenty of passion and steamy, explicit scenes. Arrogance, respect, trust, and raw chemistry abound. The plot is good and the characters are compelling and definitely have their own flaws and virtues. Their motivations are believable. However, you have to be able to read about a very dominant alpha male and a strong female lead that complements the alpha male and accepts his ways. It also contains a lot of danger and violence. I would have liked more time spent on the various investigations and things that led to the set-up of the finale rather than quite so much detail in the steamy scenes. Some additional themes include crime, communication, child abuse, infidelity, murder, sport hunting, and betrayal.
Overall, this book had great potential, but came up somewhat short for me. There were too many dominance/submission rope bondage scenes and not enough of the dual suspense story lines.
Opinions are mine alone and are not biased in any way.
It’s incredible that this is the 12th book in the series and Leopard’s Rage continues the extraordinary saga in Christine Feehan’s Leopard series.
The couple in this story are Sevastyan Amurov, enforcer and bodyguard of newly re-formed Amurov lair. Sevastyan, like his make cousins, he is a powerful leopard shifter but unlike his cousins, Sevastyan harbors a deep-seared rage that is threatening to consume him.
The heroine is Flambé Carver, successful business owner, master landscaper, extremely rare strawberry leopard and a woman being stalked by a vicious, brutal man.
My heart went out to Flambé when, upon hastily agreeing to mate Sevastyan upon their first encounter, she was overcome with emotion, “I always hoped when I got into permanent relation it would be about love...not protection.
Something in her resignation spurred a tenderness in Sevastyan to work to connect to her not just in passion but as a partner to cherish.
I have to admit the art of Shibari sets off all my OCD anxiety alarm at the thought being bound up in rope. But it worked for this couple and Flambé, after a long road to learn to trust any male shifter, eventually found her way towards love.
I loved this story and hope that there will be many more books in the Leopard shifter world.
"Leopard's Rage" is the story of Flambe and Sevastyan.
Our new addition to the Leopard People series is the mating of our hero, an Amur leopard who has gone through excessive torture in the past and who is the cousin to Mitya. We met him in the previous books, and here we see his leopard finally getting restless, until we meet our heroine- a strawberry leopard who has our own agendas. Instead of the series following the usual female rising with the Van Hol Dan, this time around we have this unlikely couple engaging in BDSM, voyeurism, the art of shibari while confronting massive trust issues, lies and ability to surrender.
I did struggle with the first half of the book- because I am used to such alpha male and loyal females that it was difficult for me to take in. . However, I am glad I persevered and the second half was way better than the first. The heroine's true motives were revealed, and the hero had to try very hard to win her over. Also we did not see the leopards interacting and running around- there was just a tiny sprinkle of other characters- and most of the time the MCs spent was in rope play not having heartfelt discussions. That being said, SO HAPPY this was not a ménage because I would have abandoned it!
To the author: I love this series- I cannot believe this book had what it had! If they were indeed true mates.. how did she find all that hot?!
Anyways, a good ONE time read. I am disappointed never the less- time to reread "Burning Wild"!
This review was originally posted on Addicted To RomanceI received this book for free from Berkley Publishing Group in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
Leopard's Rage is the newest addition in the Leopard People series and we are now at book 12 and I can't believe how this series has grown. I will be honest in that some of the books in this series aren't my favorite but I have enjoyed it. But I have adapted to how this author has grown and written these books. They aren't the easiest to read at times, they can be super hot and kinky in many ways. And boy has she rewrote "alpha male" in these books. You definitely need to be open minded in order to really enjoy them. But I found Leopard Rage to be such a fun one and so thrilled that this was Mitya's cousin (Mitya -hero from the previous book 'Leopard's Wrath") Sevastyan. This is a story that is full of kinky sex more specifically rope play so if that isn't your thing...you are forwarned of it in advanced. But I found the way it was written to be sexy and erotic at times.
Leopard's Rage is a story that begins with our hero, Sevastyan, who has hired a woman to landscape the grounds but when she misses two appointments ....he is losing his patience. On the third time, she comes but she has been abused and Sevastyan feels a rage he has never felt before. His leopard's need to protect her at all cost is paramount to him. What shocks him on a deeper level is the peace he feels when he is around Flambe. Sevastyan was visciously abused as a child, witnessed his mother being murdered by his own father and grew up seeing only violence and it damaged his leopard, and he wondered if he would ever find a woman to love...until Flambe and he sees a mate that he could love and protect....but they are being hunted by his enemies and their relationship will have plenty of rocks in its way they will have to manuever before reaching their HEA.
Leopard's Rage is a very unique tale and one in which I was quite fascinated in. I didn't want to let go of this story or what this author brings to the table of this one. I knew with it being Sevastyan it wouldn't be an easy romance for these two. Sevastyan likes to work with rope and being dominant in the bedroom, and its what he needs. Flambe is a strawberry leopard, very rare and unheard of and hunted because they are so rare and unique. Flambe struggles with certain ailments that she knows may kill her one day. But she uses her resources to save women from abusive leopard matings. She knows she will never be good enough for Sevastyan, and is satisfied with the sex but she soon learns that Sevastyan yearns for more than just some romps in the bedroom....he wants love and a family.
I really found this story quite interesting because Flambe was a unique heroine and even though I struggled with her resistance to Sevastyan so many times. I didn't care for how she treated him at times, he was the one doing ALL of the work in the relationship it seemed like. He was always being the one to take a active role in the relationship, wanting more from her. And we really don't understand her reasons until much later in the book so its frustrating as the reader not understanding her resistance to him. But I truly admired the hero so much. He is so patient and understanding and even though he has a raging leopard inside of him, he doesn't let that deter him from what really matters to him. I really came to respect that so deeply. He was the fighter in the relationship, doing whatever it took to keep striving for a deep intimate connection with Fambe. I only wish she made a better effort, because he definitely deserved that. We see how much trauma he has gone through in his past, and deserved peace and love but in the end this story worked for me and I am ever intrigued by where this author is taking this series. It will definitely be a fun adventure for sure.
Overall I found Leopard's Rage to be a romance that packs quite a punch with its combination thrilling suspense, some dangerous villains, and a rock filled relationship....their HEA will be a battle but one worth the fight!
Another recycled story line folks. Nothing new here. Lots of sex with a time out to fight Rolan who is the last remaining Russian father/uncle out to destroy them. The break didn't last very long. More important to get back to erotic Shibari rope tying. Yep, we've seen that before in the Shadow Riders with Ricco and Mariko. I now know more about that than I ever cared.
Flambe (WTH) is running an underground railroad for abused shifter women. A bit like Drake Donovan here.
Also Flambe was sent out of the house to a small studio on her fathers property so she was pretty much alone at a young age. Sound like Evangeline? Yep
It's too bad because I really liked Sevastyan in Mitya's book. He was the about the only saving grace in that book. Now here we are with so much potential and Feehan decides we need to have another book with 80% sex and a little story here and there. I'm sorry I spent the time to read it. It's gotten more trashy with each book. I skip over most of it and still didn't miss a thing. That is just damn sad to me.
I'm hoping that she will confine this to the Leopard and Torpedo Ink series. It seems like she listened to her fans in the last few Dark books and the Shadow Riders. They actually had more story than sex which is amazing for her the past few years. IMO, Feehan has gotten lazy and uses sex as a filler for an actual plot.
This was a tough one for me. It started out with the heronine's name, Flambe. I loathe it, like, really really loathe it, which honestly distracted me from the story each time it was said. This probably made me not like Flambe in a way, but she didn't make it any easier to like her. She was very cold to Sevastyan, really only connecting with him when they had sex, which seemed like was every other page. I was so so on Sevastyan, who was so alpha/dom it was crazy. Everything was my way or the highway with him and he didn't do a great job of getting to know Flambe once he knew they could be mates. It was only towards the end that he started to bend a bit, but that was mostly because he finally realized how much Flambe was holding back.
There were a couple of cool battle in this one and I really liked Flambe's mission, but overall I'm just glad to be done with the book.
I don't normally leave reviews but I hate submissive do what the man says when you barely know each other story lines. Too degrading too much sex and not enough story. This didn't feel tasteful, just frustrating and disgust. I had to walk away a couple of times before giving up and not finishing. I like her leopard line but have enjoyed none of explorations of master\submissive. If you're going to write this, characters need to be extra special and likeable. This was not it.
This book was not working for me so I am just going to stop. The characters were just ok. I never felt the connection between them. Lust, yes but not much love. The overall story wasn’t very interesting for me either, it was mostly just a lot of sex with somewhat repetitive conversations in-between/during the sex.
Leopard's Rage is a very sexy read. Sevastyan, and Flambe set the pages on fire as they find their way to each other. But, they both have doubts as they experience their first lifecycle. Is she my mate? Is he my mate? Did I make a mistake in my choice of a mate? We get to experience the misunderstanding between our couple brought about by their mutual childhood abuse, as well as their personal feelings of inadequacy, that have closed them off to each other. Add in the doubts of being mates intensify it. Sevastyan's determine to have Flambe's love, while protecting his own vulnerability. Men! Flambe in turn doesn't trust male shifters, and wants to keep their relationship sexual. Mates! I enjoyed the introduction of Shibari that really helped this couple communicate honestly with each other, and the ropes actually helped Flambe with a severe medical problem that threatens the life of her, and her leopard.
Flambe's being stalked by another leopard shifter that hunts his own kind for sports. She also has info that her stalker wants, and he won't let Sevastyan stop him form getting it. Sevatyan's has to earn Flambe's trust to help her achieve her goal of rescuing abused shifter mates. But like many men, Sevastyan makes mistakes by his thoughtless actions, but he's up to the challenge to win his mate's trust, and love.
We get to see many old friends, and meet many new ones as they come together to aide Sevastyan, and Mitya Amurov. Rolan Amurov has arrived and wants them all dead.
Christine Feehan, give us a beautiful, romantic read, but also give us car chases, as well as two battles, as Sevastyan protects the ones he loves.
Okay Folks I thought I would never have to write a review of this sort. But No matter how much I love and like the author Christine Feehan someone has to to tell the truth.
Leopard's Rage is a story of Sexual Depravity. Our lead Female Flambe Caver's character is a Nymphomaniac. She picks up Strange men in bars for One Night Stands. She is a Strawberry Breed of Leopard which is raw and hunted by humans for there pelts. But even with the reasons of why she is sexual depraved isn't good enough to override her being just a slut!! She doesn't love Syvastian and tells him all the time that she is not his mate. But her leopard let his leopard claim her because she was being stalked and was afraid of the stalker. By the Way a Stalker she had sex with. Then realizes something is off with him. She was cold and indifferent through out the entire story to Syvastian and his Leopard Storm. There is not romance or even kindness from Flambe, she just wants Sex!!
Syvastian Amurov is a P wiped lead character. He just wants Flambe' no matter how she refuses his suite. He does everything for her an her leopard. He certainly doesn't act like a Alpha Male. I keep saying hey dude she doesn't want you.
The other problem I had was the story is 95% of this depraved Shibari knot tying sexual scenes. Page after Page of Syvastian tying and contorting Flambe's body into rope knots while her body is twist and turned in strange configurations. With all the names in the World to choose from all CF could come up with was A Cheesy Name Like Flambe' Cheesy Name for a Cheesy Women. Please give me a Break!! I DONT WANT TO READ THIS KIND OF CRAP!!
I AM GOING ON AMAZON AND RETURNING THIS KINDLE EDITION.

By far, this was one of the most unique Christine Feehan novels I have read.
Sevastyan is an Amurov leopard, with a taste for violence and darkness. His father raised him to be a killer, and life has formed him into a fierce protector of one of the few people in this world he cares about, Mitaya. As a release for the darkness, Sevastyan engages in the art of Shibari, a form of Japanese bondage play in sexual acts. It gives him a sense of control, and protects those his leopard would lash out and harm.
Flambe Carver, (poor, unfortunate name!) has taken over her father's landscaping business. This business is also used as a way for leopard refugees to get to the US legally, and get on their feet to have a better life. When she starts work for a man named Cain, she never expects to watch the brutal Sevastyan from afar, and want the kind of rope play that he displayed in Cain's club.
Their paths cross when he hires her landscaping company to expand his lands to connect to Mitaya's so that he can have his own space, while also being there for Mitaya and his mate, Ania. What Flambe doesn't expect is to be chased by a one night stand and run off the road. Seeking refuge with Mitaya, Flambe's leopard recognizes the safety Sevastyan and his leopard can offer, and they choose each other as mates.
From there, we deal with insecurities from both of our main characters, as they learn to navigate an emotional relationship while also enjoying the bondage play in the bedroom. With Flambe's natural submissive nature, Sevastyan knows he has a perfect bedroom playmate. What he doesn't know is how to get Flambe to let him in so they can discuss things.
I love the open conversation that we have for a lot of this novel, and I love the use of the Shibari as a safe place to become vulnerable emotionally. That really worked for me, and I found this novel to be one that stands on in the Feehan catalog. It's steamy, just like her other novels, while also looking more deeply at the vulnerability of sharing a life with another person, or leopard for this instance.
I hope you will give this novel a try, as it is my favorite that I have read in the leopard series so far.
Finished this amazing book last night. Loved both Sevastyan & Flambé so much. But I blamed Shibari for my rating of ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ instead of Five Amazing Stars.
Skipping skimming through roping scenes gave me more insight into Flambé's character. I understood her past and appreciated how she lived her life at present. She learned all she needed about male shifters from her dick of a dad, who kicked her out of the house when she was only seven years old, so he could have more room to dick around with desperate female shifters whom he saved.
I was devastated on Sevastyan's behalf that Flambé dumped all the bad about vicious male shifters onto his shoulders. But No, I wouldn't fault Flambé's suspicion and her focus on only the dishonorable, untrustworthy, or vile behavior of male shifters. The lessons she witnessed from her dad's behavior all his life had to be almost impossible to unlearn.
On the other hand,Yes, I was so awestruck by how she built a successful life. And most staggering to imagine yet, she secretly changed an operation her dad created, and turned it into a rescue mission of other abused female shifters and their children. She definitely belonged on my List of Amazing Heroines 🙇🏽♀️
Sevastyan was such a perfect Hero for Flambé in every way, especially in his master of Shibari art. Besides giving all that she needed and wanted, he literally saved her life from rarer than rare disease and more. Hoping you'd pick up this book, and find out what I was talking about. And hoping you would fall so crazy in love with Sevastyan too. Well . . . even with his Shibari art.🔥
But what I loved the best about this book was how all the villains got what they deserved💥Extremely satisfying 💃🏽 I could read & reread those scenes over and over again and grin Big! GO 🔥 TEAM SEVASTYAN 🔥
This Sevastyans story, Yes its Flambes, but if you have read this series you know that Sevastyan is in charge of security for Mitya, His anger and hardness (no pun intended) seem to make him destined for loneliness, or self destruction. Flambe is a strawberry leopard, This is an erotica story with shifters This is a dominant and a submissive. There is bondage with a rope. A rope that van be used for beauty, not just the sexual side. Do I understand this? No, but I do get that there has to be trust, there has to be understanding and Feehan makes that apparent as well as showers the reader with emotions, feelings. You feel the depth of despair, the hope for more, the sense of family and always, always the inner strength of the female, the core strength and integrity of both. As usual I can do with less erotic, but this one truly showed how the ropes were used for so much more, giving me a little more understanding. Thank you Berkley, NetGalley and Christine Feehan for the arc. I freely share my thoughts and opinions. P.S. I love the cover!
I was so happy to start reading Sevastyan’s story! He and his brother leopards continued to build a new future for their families, each one finding their other despite all the danger they faced. They wore both black and white hats (I like to think the white was the larger) so convincing someone of their true intent while hiding it at the same time was more than difficult. Sevastyan’s love wasn’t going to be an easy one to win over (none of them have been!) but he wasn’t a protector for nothing… Flambe was a protector as well but instead of might she dealt in stealth and cunning. Her hat was pure white and nothing was going to stand in her way. She would not lose anyone on her watch…
As I’ve come to expect from this series, their courtship was anything but smooth sailing. Deadly enemies, mysterious betrayals and a lot of unanswered questions between them, meant finding truth was difficult on every front. The chemistry that defined their relationship, began with the physical, between them and their leopards, yet the heart connection was much harder to achieve. Told from alternating points of view, understanding the struggles that went into their many decisions was easier for me as a reader than for them…
At the end I was struck by how well-matched they were even though their differences could fill this book and more. I may have wished for more of the heart-zinging emotional highs and lows I’ve read before in this series but their story was a true courtship with all the loving back and forth I craved… ~Diane, 3.5 stars
This is another winner in this series. This paranormal romance is recommended to readers who enjoy a bit of spice to their romance, dominated by an alpha male and a female who may or may not submit.
This one was kind of meh for me. I liked Syvastian but Flambé drove me freaking nuts for basically the whole book. And I’m all about people liking whatever they like, but the sex scenes/kink wasn’t something I was really into.

LEOPARD’S RAGE is the twelfth instalment in Christine Feehan’s contemporary, adult LEOPARD PEOPLE erotic, paranormal, romance series focusing on leopard shifters. This is Russian leopard shifter Sevastyan Amurov, and landscaper/ strawberry leopard shifter Flambe Carver’s story line. LEOPARD’S RAGE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.
WARNING: LEOPARD’S RAGE contains graphic scenes of violence and abuse, as well as scenes of bondage and Shibari rope play that may be triggers for more sensitive readers.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Sevastyan and Flambe) following several paths, LEOPARD’S RAGE focuses on the building relationship between, and the claiming of landscaper/ strawberry leopard shifter Flambe Carver, and Russian leopard shifter Sevastyan Amurov. Rare strawberry leopard shifter Flambe Carver was hired by our hero to design and landscape his most recent acquired property but Flambe missed two previous appointments causing concern bordering on anger for Sevastyan Amurov until he discovers that our heroine is being stalked and threatened by another leopard shifter. In an effort to protect Flambe, Sevastyan and his leopard Shturm claim our story line heroine and her leopard Flamme, a claim to which Flambe agrees but struggles with in the ensuing days. What ensues is the building relationship between Flambe and Sevastyan, and the potential fall-out as Flambe has been targeted for what she is, and the work she does rescuing endangered and abused strawberry leopard shifters
The relationship between Sevastyan and Flambe goes downhill rather quickly as Flambe struggles with a claiming that was meant to protect her from another shifter. Flambe battles between head and heart, enjoying the Shibari rope play with our story line hero but our heroine fights her own leopard for control, and the unending pain and recoil with every touch. Flambe suffers with a series of physical and emotional issues, and in this, her relationship with Sevastyan continues to suffer. Sevastyan grew up knowing pain and rejection, and his earlier years resulted in the barely veiled rage and anger for our story line hero. Never expecting to find his own mate, Sevastyan struggles with Flambe’s inability to let go, to accept who she is, and accept the male shifter who is unable to love. The $ex scenes are intimate, aggressive, erotic, raw and intense with scenes of Shibari rope play and $ex.
There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including many we have met in previous instalments including Sevastyan’s cousins and extended family: Evangeline and Fyodor Amurov (Leopard’s Blood #8), Timur and Ashe Amurov (Leopard’s Run #10), Mitya and Ania (Leopard’s Wrath #11), as well as shifters Jake Bannaconni, Drake Donovan, Joshua Tegre, Elijah Lospostos, Eli Perez, Kirill Chernov, Matvei Bykov, Vikenti, and Zinoviy. The requisite evil has many faces.
LEOPARD’S RAGE is a story of betrayal, vengeance, power and control; a story of violence and abuse; anger and rage; struggle, acceptance, understanding and love. The premise is dramatic and intense; the romance mainly focuses on the Shibari rope play, and the couple’s highly and aggressive sexual needs due to Flambe entering the Han Vol Dan (heat); the characters are numerous, energetic, and edgy.
Now to address the elephant or leopard in the room…what’s with the author’s choice of names? Flambe? Flamme? Sure, the heroine is a strawberry shifter with red/ginger hair but I had a difficult time trying not to laugh every time I read the name. This is not the first time the author has chosen to use abstract names but Flambe is almost comedic in nature, and ill-suited for the intense and dramatic storyline premise.
Sevastyan and Flambe’s story is the latest addition to Christine Feehan’s Leopard Series. And what an addition it is!
The Lore goes that these leopard shifters find mates over nine lifetimes, each becoming easier to recognize each other, knowing when they found their mate. . Not only are Sevastyan and Flambe’s leopards both choosing to mate for the first time, which makes the relationship tentative, both unsure of themselves and each other, but throw in their pasts, the voices of those they know telling them sometimes the first mating is a mistake, and you add even more mines to the minefield they have to navigate building a relationship, understanding their attraction and emotions and what they all mean to their lives and each other, who they will be as a couple. Can they commit to it and find what they both need? Did they make the right choice. Sevastyan walking the thin line between his role in the Amurov family and proving to Flambe he is committed to her. His responsibility to keep all safe from the dangers coming at them. Flambe always on the edge of wanting this relationship and waiting for the other shoe to drop. Both driving you crazy when they don’t get it, when so many mistakes are made…and cheering as they grow to figure it out! . The heat level in this story is very high. The shabari element brings it off the charts. It is beautifully written as an integral part of their journey. It's a part of them, as what they need as individuals and as something they share as a couple. At first something to let them avoid opening to each other, a way to deny the emotions intimacy and love they start to feel. It changes to something that knocks walls down and builds the connection between them. . There is so much that seems to get in the way of bringing these two completely together, to expressing the love they feel, believing in each other, returning and accepting the emotions. Physical and psychological, I can’t go into without ruining your experience of their story. The way it all comes to a head and dawns an understanding between them, and solidifies their commitment to make it work between them. The way its all revealed tightens your gut and grips your heart. Makes it a great story. Highly recommend!
Leopard shifter Sevastyan Amurov has an anger issue that tops all of the other men he is related to and works for which is saying something in this series. Each of their group were raised by evil brutal men so at a young age, they learned that harsh way of life. Sevastyan’s job as head of security for his cousin means he spends a lot of time taking out enemies. Sevastyan constantly struggles to keep his leopard at bay going to bondage clubs to fulfill his needs without harming women with his aggressive and brutal nature. When Sevastyan meets a rare strawberry leopard, Flambe Carver, his own leopard settles for the first time in his life.
Their immediate attraction and Sevastyan’s claiming of Flambe means she is now under his protection as there are others who desire to possess Flambe. She not only is a well-respected landscaper, but runs an underground operation to get female leopards out of abusive situations making her a target on more than one front. They may be attracted to one another especially since Flambe is going into a leopard heat for the first time, but there is no insta-love. Sevastyan has a lot to learn about having a relationship with a woman who knows her own mind and refuses to be subservient to a big, powerful male.
Sevastyan and Flambe’s relationship has as many missteps as it does strengths. Sevastyan’s family who have their own mates make it harder rather than help him with Flambe as she does not seem to have many fans among them. While trying to protect her from a stalker and furthering deepening their relationship, Sevastyan also has to keep on top of the family enemies especially his father who is bringing an army to take them all out. Both Sevastayan and Flambe have issues from their upbringings so they have much to overcome in order to a relationship.
This is book #12 in the Leopard People series. Like another of Ms. Feehan’s recent series, this one has some sexual kink, in this case, one known as Shibari: a Japanese style of bondage with ropes. I am not particularly a fan of this direction in her writing. Readers will have to decide for themselves whether or not that is a deal breaker to continue with the series.
Leopards's Rage is a fabulously gritty, marvelously raw, and so very real story that will make your heart hurt and soar. It will steal your attention and hold you captive as it seeps into your very soul. Nothing will tear you away from the provacative storyline as you lose yourself within its unforgettable and heart-wrenching soul filled with fierce love and heart pounding terror.
Sevastyan had survived a cruel and unforgiving upbringing to become an impossibly hard and demon driven man. He lives life the only way he can while looking out for his family. Most people steer clear of him, but one woman stumbles helplessly into his life. Flambe enjoys her small and comforting life. She has gained success and wants nothing more then to help others. When these two impossibly different people meet, a firestorm is created and threatens to end anyone that crosses its path.
My heart shattered for both Sevastyan and Flambe. Neither had a good life, but both are fierce fighters who refuse to give in. Although very different in every way, they both long for love more then they will ever admit. When convenience turns into feelings, nothing is easy or welcome. However, Sevastyan will not lost the best thing he has ever found in his life. He will fight to the death to keep his heart close for all time.
I found my heart became incredibly lost within the pages of this book. I couldn't get over how stunning and extraordinary both the story and the characters are. They kept me guessing and put my heart through a meat grinder. Nothing was easy, but that made it so worth wading through the pain to get to the light and love on the other side. Christine Feehan is a phenomenal author who demolished my heart and made my soul crave these beautiful chacters no matter how stubborn or unworldly they became. She showed me how love can sprout and bloom within even the most hostile of environments.
Full Disclosure, this is the 12th book in a series that I did try to get into, but lost interest in after the 2nd or 3rd book, so much of the back story in Leopard's Rage felt confusing; I'm assuming previous books in the series set up some of the plot for Leopard's Rage, specifically that of Sevastiyan's history.
Parts of Leopard's Rage pulled me in while other parts pushed me away. I found myself skipping many scenes either because they felt like just more graphic sex that didn't really support the plot OR contained leopard battle scenes that just didn't hold my interest (to be fair, I usually skip battle scenes in books as they're just not my thing). On the other hand I really felt for Flambe, the main leading lady leopard, despite her unfortunate name, and wanted to know that some of her issues were resolved by the end of the book. Not to be too spoiler-y but by the time her issues were resolved I really didn't care anymore.
This book had so much promise; Flambe's background as a leading landscape business owner and the descriptions that went with it as well as my initial interest in the main characters just couldn't overcome the parts that pushed me away.
I think if I had read the rest of the series I would have given Leopard's Rage a solid 4 stars but as it stands it's a 3 for me. Christine Feehan's writing style has much improved in her later books, which is possibly why I did actually enjoy this one more than the first few in the series which had a cheesy 90s-soap-opera-plus-shifter feel to them.
The best part of the book was the preview of Reckless Road, part of her Torpedo Ink series of which I'm a big fan.
I received Leopard's Rage as an eARC from NetGalley. Leopard's Rage is slated for publication on November 10, 2020
The Leopard People series is my favorite after Dark Guardian series :) The characters are fun and the bed scens are smocking hot. Leopard's Rage was a fun but strugling read. Feehan had Sevastyan dominace to the max. Excelent writing. I really enjoyed Sevastyan and Flambe journey. Although Flambe and Flamme (her leopard) are names I was struggling with while reading this book. It felt more balanced as Flambe was struggling with her emotions and vulnerability as much as Sevastyan.
It was fun to follow along and see both of them give and take. The romance was hot. A lot of bondage and rope play. I can't even remember there was a normal bed scene without the rope bondage. It was a little of a overkill. So much I even skipped women of the last bed scene because I already had read 5 times how he was dominating her with his ropes. I found my heart became incredibly lost within the pages of this book. I couldn't get over how stunning and extraordinary both the story and the characters are.
The character of flambe had a nice build-up although I don't know why she could never tell the male character why she is untrusting of male leopards. After she told him. The first thought I had was. 'That's it?' Why didn’t she just tell him? It wasn’t that she experienced most herself it was al about others and only then she found out about it later when she was older. It was somewhat strange for me. I missed a prologue. I loved to read more when they progressed further in their relation. It had at the end not really a stable feeling where I thought. Wow they are going to be together forever.
Still. Overall a real page turner. It kept me up till late just to finish it.
I am disappointed with how this series has changed into book regarding dominate and submissive relationships. The past 3 books in this series have almost no storyline except for kinky sex between the main characters.
Where is the strong female lead? Flambé is the weakest character Christine Feehan has written yet. I will not be continuing with this series. Such a disappointment but I’m not interested in reading a book where the characters don’t talk but just continue to have sex and never deal with the problem. There was no leopard scenes. Flambé had no control over her change. Sometimes the scenes felt almost like emotional abuse. Sevastyan was controlling her from the beginning and you can’t just claim that’s because his leopard was a dominant killer.
The author also repeats the same sentences time and time again. I only needed to be reminded once that because Sevastyan is into ropes that he can tell what his partner is feeling based on changes to breathing and facial expressions. Every third chapter had a paragraph reminding us this. Every time they did anything in the ropes we got reminded of how attentive he was. I would have preferred more growth between the characters instead of getting a run down on how he checks her pulse every time they have sex using ropes.
I hope the author stops writing this series. It’s sad to see such a good series become so misogynistic in its writing but that’s what has happened. If you want to read a good paranormal series where the women and men are equal read Nalini Singh Psy-Changeling series. Now she is an author that stays true to her writing.

This is one of the most erotic stories I have read from Feehan I believe but it is very well written. Sevastyan needs to keep his anger at bay and going to erotica clubs helps that. Flambe is wanted by many but something about Sevastyan’s leopard and Flambe’s leopard connects and that is it. Flambe spends her time helping female leopards out of abusive relationships so how will she deal with the way Sevastyan deals. And then add a stalker to the mix and you have another great story from Feehan.
Feehan always writes strong independent females and diamond in the rough, alpha males and this is no different. I liked that Flambe was willing to try to understand what Sevastyan wants and needs.
Feehan has a way of writing that brings you right in and leaves you wanting more. Feehan is simply one of the queens of paranormal shifter romance.
Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
Flambe has been on her own in the middle of a crowd most of her life. Hiding the true extent of her loneliness, she is not willing to trust male leopards for any reason. On the verge of her first shift, her leopardess is demanding selecting a mate and uses Flambe's own desires and the first convenient time to get the one she wants.
Sevastyan and his leopard have been battling their own rage for years. When Flambe appears, running for her life from an attacker, he jumps at the chance to mate, especially since Flambe is the only female his leopard doesn't want to kill. But their mating is unbalanced when one side is all in and the other is hiding everything about themselves.
Misunderstandings and turmoil are the norm in this newest novel of the Leopard series by Christine Feehan, but, in my opinion, that's part of what makes it better than the last few!
Sevastyan and Flambe are both highly sensuous Leopard People. Each has a unique ability and power that make them perfect mates for one another. This novel of Ms. Feehan's is another terrific story with strong characterization. I love how she makes the story come alive with power and grace. I highly recommend this novel.
Another Feehan - and I just loved it! This story if you are at all familiar with her Leopard series gives you a bit more background in the treatment these guys got and why they do things. Loved the characters and their romance. Now the long wait till the next one!
2.5 ⭐️ This book took me forever to finish! Flambè was just insufferable! I hated her name, her attitude and her behavior! Sure there were reasons why she acted and thought the way she did but one of the reasons wasn’t even hinted at until almost 75% of the way into the book! Which by the way, was when Syvastian finally decided it was time to ✨Communicate✨ Seriously! It frustrated me whenever Flambè would deflect anything personal or uncomfortable to her through sex, and Syvastian just let her get away with it! For 74% of the book! Catching feelings? Sex. Angry about something someone said behind her back? Sex. Think the dude you’re with is going to cheat on you and abuse you? Oh let’s not talk about it let’s jump into bed instead before I leave him. Ugh!!! I just didn’t like this lady. Syvastian was better; at least he was all the way committed despite his flaws. Flambè wasn’t. Bitch had one foot out the door before she was even over the threshold. And that was minutes after saying she would be his mate. I hate when relationships are one-sided emotionally. I hated that she didn’t even try before she passed judgment. They both were terrible at communicating and it caused some frustrating misunderstandings and issues.
That rant being said, everything else was pretty much on point for me. Ms. Feehan added more detail to the practice of Shibari (rope play) which I found fascinating. The romantic sensual aspect of shibari fell a little flat for me since this couple’s relationship felt so one-sided to me I couldn’t get in it beyond an artistic appreciation. I really wish this kind of detail had been included in Shadow Reaper since that was couple I really loved had committed feelings for each other.
This was only the second leopard book I didn’t like so I’m not at all discouraged. Still looking forward to the next one. ^^;
