Order of Magic #3

The Fourth Power

Rate this book
Heather Harrison sees ghosts. It's not something she brags about. In fact, she wished she didn't. Communicating (or not communicating) with the dead only leads to heartache, and for her it led to a divorce. For the most part, she's happy being single. She's got a good business, close friends, and a slightly overprotective brother. What more does a forty-something woman need?

When her two best friends beg her for help in contacting loved ones, against her better judgment she can't say no to the séance. But some gateways shouldn't be opened, and some meddling spirits shouldn’t be stirred…like that of her Grandma who insists she's "found her a nice man".

The supernaturals have come out to play and it's up to this amateur medium to protect herself and her friends before the danger they summoned comes to bite them in the backside.

Book contains: kick-butt women who are considered middle-aged in their forties but who don't let themselves be defined by a number, paranormal elements (psychics, ghosts, magic, etc), some strong language (nothing too earth-shattering), sexy scenes but they aren’t 50 shades of OMG or anything, and a nice heaping helping of a second chance at first love. Doing midlife right!

Book three in the Order of Magic series chronicling the paranormal lives of the ladies of Freewild Cove,
Lorna, Heather and Vivien continue to hone their psychic skills in contacting and dispatching spirits.

This time we have Heather’s story which we already know involves the death of her child.
Heather’s paranormal skill (or curse) is seeing ghosts. This in part was responsible for her divorce.

Another great chapter in the paranormal lives of the ladies of Freewild Cove as they seek closure and the possibility of a future loving relationship.

Excellent narration.

Another great book in this series. This time we help Heather get over her grief. Heather's grief is over the loss of a child 10 years ago not by a husband/boyfriend. I can never understand the grief that a mother goes through when losing a child I would just hope that after 10 years they could find some joy. Martin and Jan come into Heather's life I believe at the right time to help her get over the grief. With the help of her best friends and her brother Heather helps both Martin understand Jan and also Jan to come into her own. You will laugh, cry and be happy for everyone in this book by the end. I am excited there will be more books in this series.

Her age, over forty, her tragic history, has not kept Heather from being a business success. Nor has it kept her "gift" a secret from her friends. The three of them have powers that combined are formidable. Said friends, as well as her grandmother (in ghost form), decided she needs a man. Not that she isn't attracted to the man fixing her house and other projects. The problem is the problem the man has.

Can the three of them help him so they are free to explore their attraction? The friends may help but the ghosts are not so accomodating. There is plenty of ghostly action, intrigue, emotional stress, humor, and chemistry galore.

My heart broke for Heather in the other two books and I wasn't quite sure how Michelle was going to bring her story to life. She did an amazing job bringing depth to these characters that makes you feel their pain along with them. Heather and Martin truly compliment each other and I look forward to what she has in store for this trio and their amazing guys. This world she created is truly amazing and I fall in love with each character all over again as you witness the trials they go through and cheer them on to find happiness in their life.

A heart breaking beautiful story.

I knew Heather's story was going to be sad. I had braced myself for tears (there were many) but it was written in such a devastatingly beautiful way.
The pain of losing a child is unimaginable add to that the ability to see ghosts and yet not the one you want to see. Heather is such a strong, nurturing and wonderful woman.

The characters in this series blew me away from the word go. I feel a sense of kinship with them; as an avid reader that is very rare and special to find. I am in love with these stories and their characters.

It was fun, it was sweet, it was emotional... and CAKE!

Somehow, I always end up hungry when I read a book from this series. Did I say cake?

Oh, a review. Right!

The book was fabulous. I was looking very much forward to Heather's story and Michelle M. Pillow did not disappoint.

But now I'm hungry. Where's the cake?

The Fourth Power is Heather's story. While on the outside, Heather has a business, good friends, and a brother which she is close despite that he didn't believe in ghosts (that was until he met Lorna). Inside, Heather is still grieving for her son, Travis who was killed by a drunk driver. Everyday, she is going through the motion of trying to live. Her son was the only ghost that she couldn't see or make contact with.

Heather hired an electrician, Martin to restore the Anderson House. She has noticed that Martin is attractive but she has never acted on her attraction. It was until she met Jan, Martin's daughter and started to see hint of Jan being an amateur medium. To Martin, Jan's ability to see ghosts was explained as an overactive imagination of having invisible friends.

Now Heather has to saved Jan from a spirit that is using her to do things for it.

The only thing I didn't like was why didn't Travis visit his mom, Heather after his death? He avoided his mom for 10 years. But for a ten year old kids, their reasoning is different from adults. Otherwise, I'm glad that Heather can find closure.

The narrator, Rebecca Cook did another great job in narrating The Fourth Power. The narrator gave Heather, the characteristic of someone who is trying to find a reason for living after the death of her son. Her voice for Lorna and Vivian are great. Lorna is a lot more happier and Vivian is as outspoken as always. There is a bit of happiness in Vivian.

I can't wait for the next book. I checked and there is a fourth book in this series. The ending did give a hint of what is next for Heather, Vivian, and Lorna. Of course, I am rooting for these 40-something women.

I was given this audiobook by the author. I have decided to voluntary write an unbiased review for this book. I was not compensated or influenced in any way for writing this review.

Things Are Not Always What They Seem!

Heather had never got over the death of her son and it haunted her daily. Why when she could see and talk to ghosts could she not see or talk to him. It had been years since he died and now her Grandma and both her friends had decided she needed to find someone new but Heather’s heart wasn’t in it until she finally noticed Martin.

Martin had been working on her house for a while and the attraction she felt for him had been pushed to the back of her mind until she met his daughter January. January had the same gifts as Heather and Heather and her friends were the people who could help her and help her father Martin understand the gifts she had.

Heather and Martin finally admitted to the attraction they had for each other but both still had some issues. What they didn’t know was that two young people had been working to get them both together and to give them both a HEA.

What a heart wrenching beautiful story with a perfect ending. Lots of fun moments between the friends and I love the way Julia keeps popping into their lives. The changes of her character throughout the years keep you entertained with laugh out loud moments throughout the story.

Another recommended read from Michelle Pillow, the emotions she portrays in her stories are simply amazing.

Michelle M. Pillow has combined her usual fun romance trope with magic in a small town to produce this series about a trio of friends and the men (and ghosts) they meet. This book has Heather looking with interest at Martin who is an electrician who works for her. Although each of these books focus on a different couple the they are definitely connected and I was waiting to read Heather’s tale and how Ms. Pillow would help her get over the death of her ten year old son. I loved reading this hopeful romance that I was thinking would bring the series to a close but then I found out that there are two more. Yay. I was trying to think of a way to describe Ms. Pillow’s writing and the word smooth came to mind. In a good way. While the books are different in place, people and plot you can be assured that you are going to have a lovely, interesting and absorbing read. I love that this series is about women who are older finding love and that the men they find are regular guys not millionaires or something like that. It makes me connect with them more even if I have never done magic or seen a ghost. I do find myself liking to read this type of story more as I get older. Off to read the next one.

If you haven't been following this is for you.
Heather Harrison at one point in her life had it all a loving husband and a beautiful son. She lost everything when her son died.
Vivien her best friend held her together. Then years later a 3rd woman joined their little group.( Lorna) she is also dating Heather's brother. His name is William and while their grandmother was known for seeing and talking to ghosts . He didn't want to believe it until now. Only because he saw it and the woman he loves can do thing he doesn't under. Lol got to make the girlfriend happy.
All 3 of the women at one point found the grandmother's power rings. One for each of the. They boost their power and link the 3s power. All 3 have had their hearts broken 2 have been healed lorna and Vivien. Now this one is all about Heather's chance to heal for her loss, pain and new life? Will she take it? There is a chance out there but your just going to have to read it to find out ! It's an amazing story full of mystery, drama, fantastic characters and awesome storyline. Don't miss this one I just loved it!
Voluntarily review a copy and I honestly couldn't put it down

This is the third book in the Order of Magic series and centers on Heather Harrison. Heather can see and communicate with ghosts. In fact, they would pester her way too much if she let them. Unfortunately, the one ghost she really wants to see - she can't - and she's afraid to summon it. (Not gonna tell you who it is, no spoilers here!) This book is well written and edited, I like the characters. Lorna, Viv and Heather have a very close friendship, and are all strong women. The story has humor, tension, and is well-paced. But darn it, Michelle Pillow, it brought tears to my eyes in one section! So I guess you really connected with me and got an emotional reaction. You don't have to read these stories in order as the author does a good job of catching you up on the important details without wasting much time, but the previous stories are good ones and are well worth the time to read.

Tender Heart Pain *Tissues Needed
So this story is Heather Warrick Harrison’s. We capture glimpses of what leads her pain and why her Grandmother Julia has her joined with two other women through magical rings. Her story is a sad one so have tissues because no parent should have to bury their child. So sensitive content contained. We do learn the entire story and the hesitant romance building between her and one of her contractor electricians Martin Edwards. His situation is story worthy as he’s a single parent dealing with a gifted daughter on his own. Merging two stories into one rounds this into a good beautiful moment. So now all three friends have mates or boyfriends. Teasing light hearted moments bond the characters as their friendship thrives and the love and support gets tested. Lorna, Vivien and Heather encounter another surprise that segues into another book as the girls turn another chapter.

Back to Freewild Cove, North Carolina for Heather's story.
The three sister witches have all suffered in the past, all have pain buried inside.
Lorna and Vivian have let go of their pain and began a new life, now it is Heather's turn.
Her pain is deeper than either of her friends, a pain no mother should have to face, the loss of a child.
There are so many feels in this book, happiness, laughter, love and deep sadness.
It is time for her happily ever after with the help of a father and daughter who have pain to deal with as well. Can they heal each other?
Read along on this bumpy road. Believe in love again.
This book is by favorite of all so far.

Loving reading all these PWF books - love finding the over 40's with a little help from Magic!

Heather is still grieving the loss of her son a decade earlier. She and her husband couldn't cope and he has moved on but Heather still lives in the same house, her son's bedroom a shrine to his memory. She doesn't feel able to let go of him and using their new found abilities, they have another seance trying to contact Trav. let's hope that they don't release any more demons!

But will the appearance of a single dad, Martin, and her intelligent, precocious and perhaps little bit magical daughter Jan help Heather get over her grief.

Oh this book had all the feels - I will not lie, I had a tear or two at times! But there are plenty of laughs too, especially from a certain ghostly Grandma!

Losing her son nearly destroyed her, but another child needs her help and love.
When Heather’s son died, she retreated from life, her marriage ended and she just survived from day to day. Now, years later, she works hard and with the support of her two friends, she survives.
Martin’s daughter, January, can see ghosts too! Her father has taken her to priests, doctors and therapists, none of which have helped. When Heather tells him she can help, he is very sceptical at first until she proves it with a séance.
My heart went out to Heather, to lose a child is any mothers worst fear, how to survive without their laugh and smile is too devastating to think about. This issue was dealt with, with care and understanding. I loved this whole story from start to finish and can’t wait to read the next one.
I voluntarily received and reviewed an ARC copy of the book.

Third story of gifted friends who hold a séance to contact a dearly departed. This story is about Heather Harrison a home renovation builder. Heather can see ghosts and is mourning about her son Travis who died in a car accident at the age of ten. Travis' death caused the break-up of her marriage. When Heather is at her new project home, she sees a young person sitting in the truck who reminds her of Travis. Only it's Martin's daughter. What occurs as she tries to help January who also can see ghosts and gets closer to Martin, her electrician who doesn't believe in the supernatural is an engaging romantic story with likable characters. This is a delightful series I'm enjoying reading and that I volunteer to read and review.

So good! Heather is very happy her two soul sisters found their loves but she only wants to contact her son Travis who passed away many years ago. She left his room as it was. So all the women try another seance to contact Travis. In the meantime, an electrician, Martin, is working on this special house for her. He has a daughter who Heather feels a connection with because of both of their abilities . Heather finally convinces Martin that his daughter is gifted. In the end, Heather is able to say goodbye to Travis and her attraction to Martin progresses into more. Can't wait for the next book in the series!

I almost put off reading this book because book one and two were similar in how Lorna and Vivien's deceased person's were contacted. I thought for sure it would happen to Heather in a similar way and she would be put in some peril unrelated blah blah... nope.... It was anything but that! This book handled it a completely different, yet very satisfying way. There are some downright hilarious moments, some sad tear jerking moments, and some tense borderline scary moments. I made the mistake of choosing to read a little before bed and was done at midnight thirty. It was possibly the best of the series, so far. The ending though.... now we wait for book four.

This is the third book in the Order of Magic Series, a Paranormal Romance Women's Fiction Novel. This Series is amazing! Heather's story is beautiful, emotional, heartbreaking, and heartwarming afterward. I loved Martin and his daughter January. Lorna and Vivien are fantastic supporting characters. The three friends are gifted with psychic abilities. There is a lot going on in this installment. This is a great addition to the Series. Rebecca Cook did a wonderful job with the narration. I love this Series, and I HIGHLY recommend it. Looking forward to listen to the The Fifth Sense, the next book in the Series!

Heather and her husband, Ben, lost their son and because of the pain that seeing the other caused, they divorced a year later. Heather’s a medium like her grandmother, Julia was, and Julia’s spirit is still around the theater that Heather owns. Vivien is Heather’s bestie and is clairsentient & claircognizant. Julia definitely takes getting used to. Outrageous. Lol William is Heather’s brother and he is with Lorna, Heather and Viv’s newest friend. Lorna is a finder and a healer, although she heals by transference. Troy is Viv’s guy, and neighbor.

I really enjoy Martin and his daughter January. Thomas is cool too. Approximately a quarter way thru the book, have a few tissues nearby. I cried then. And again near the end of the book. I love the ending and Julia, I wanna throw some salt at her lol.

I enjoy reading and following this series and the group of female characters.
Michelle has a wonderful way of writing interesting, loveable and engaging characters set in paranormal adventures and dealing with life issues, events and entertaining.
Each book brings you deeper into one particular character and in this book it’s Heather’s turn. More emotional and tugged on the heart strings but still full of female friendships, supportive friends, paranormal adventures, great humour and exciting romance.
I want to live in Freewild Cove with these lovely ladies as my friends.

Good story

Good sorry for Heather, but was too quick in my mind. Lorna’s story was pretty good, but too short. Viv’s story was much too short and lacked character development and this story was a little better than Viv’s.

The story line is good, but I felt like it just a cliff notes version of what the full story should have been. I haven’t read this author before these books and I am wondering if it’s her style.

Sounds like the series will be continuing with a new character potentially, unsure whether I will continue reading.

I forgot how good this series is!
You can read the synopsis to find out what the book is about because I don't like giving away the story. What I do like talking about is how well the book is written.
Michelle Pillow is a new author to me with this series...I read the first book Second Chance Magic last year and loved how the book just flowed flawlessly.
It's the same with this book...the story kept my interest and made me keep reading. The characters are wonderful and easy to relate to them.
I laughed and cried reading it.
Amazing story and I highly recommend

I like Heather so much and this book is her story. She has the one gift i wish I could have, seeing ghost. It's so sad about her son. I really don't know what would happen to me if my daughter died. It's all so sad much like the way Heather lives her life. It's good that she has great friends to lean on. I love everything about this series, it's just so wishful. I wish I friends like Lorena, Heather or Vivian. I wish I powers like them, maybe. I wish I had new loves like they did. Wishful. I can't wait to hear the next book. Hint-hint Michelle M. Pillow.
