My club brothers call me Boy Scout. Hell, if I ain’t an enforcer with a heart of gold. I avoid women, knowing they’re trouble, and I don’t take chances anymore. My hands stay clean when they’re not covered in blood for the club. My life is downright dull until I meet Justice Sheerer and realize I haven’t been really living.
The bubbly blonde has a motor mouth and confidence to spare. As the daughter of my mentor, she should be off limits in Tumbling Rock. Except Justice refuses to follow the town’s rules, and now I'm breaking them too.
No more Mister Nice Guy. Justice is mine for the taking and no one will stand in my way. Not even the guy in the mirror.
Black Sheep contains graphic sexual content, violent situations, and harsh language, the book is only appropriate for adult readers age 18+.
Once I'd started reading this book I kept asking myself "why did I wait so long?" and I've just no answer to that. This book is fabulous, it's Bijou at her very best. Now on the whole I'm a huge Bijou fan with a couple of exceptions firstly 'Gator' I couldn't read that book no matter how many times I tried and I also found 'Ramsey Security' and 'Sunday Morning' lacked something but I loved the 'Damaged' series, 'Junkyard Dog' and so many others. Now these books are character driven, it's about them, their relationships and brilliant sparkling conversations and humour. I love a book that makes me laugh and I fall in love with Bijou's characters but I have friends who've read these and while they're amused at first there's not enough to hold them "no story" was said in relation to 'Junkyard Dog' but I love them, I get lost in the characters, the way they are and 'Black Sheep' is as good as it gets but if you're looking for a lot of story you won't find it here. It's taken me 3 days to read this book which is way longer than it should have done, partly it was life getting in the way but mainly I just couldn't stop laughing and since I do most of my reading in bed it became a problem because my husband couldn't sleep with me laughing my head off all the time. Christine fell in love with a biker named Jared together they had two children Justice and Journey but while Christine loved him she realised small town life wasn't what she wanted so while he was incarcerated she left town with the children in tow. She realised her dream and became a veterinarian, marrying again and having another child Poppy. The marriage to Poppy's dad went south and now she's back in town avoiding Jared because she can't bear to be within two feet of him without ripping his clothes off. Christine has raised her daughters to be confident and outspoken and this is the source of the humour, these girls are hilarious and I do mean hilarious. When Justice meets Court it's lust at first sight, unfortunately Justice looks young and Court assumes she's still at school. Then he discovers she's Jared's daughter, Jared has been like a surrogate father to him and is also in the same MC but despite all this he can't stay away from her. It's worth mentioning that these are 'real' characters in so much as they're not all brilliant at everything (fighting in Justice's case) and the MC is full of ageing old men who do little more than talk, it makes a huge change from the hot sexy alpha filled MC books I generally read but before I scare you away it's not really about these guys it's about Court and Justice and of course Jared's older hot as well. It's difficult to describe just how much I enjoyed this and the only good thing about waiting to read this is I can move straight onto 'Snake Charmer' now. I don't give 5* often or easily and this book is one of the reasons why. There's so many brilliant lines and quotes that I wouldn't know where to start so I picked a couple at random and so while they may not be the best it gives you an idea of what to expect.
"Don’t stalk men here, Justice.” "I don’t stalk. I lovingly follow them around without their permission and often knowledge.”
"You busy tonight?" "Of course. I'm not some pathetic loser sitting at home waiting for a man to show up without any notice." "Sorry. What kind of notice do you need?" "How about we have dinner in two weeks?" Court gives me a weird look. I stare right back at him, unwilling to bow to his sexiness. "You're messing with me again," he finally says. "Very much so." "Tonight then?" "No, my ego demands you wait at least until tomorrow. After all, you thought I was in high school."
4 1/2 stars If you are looking for a funny snarky heroine with a possessive hot hero then this is your book. I have said many, many times before that Bijou Hunter can write funny like very few, and thats one of the things that makes her stand out. This book is full of funny moments and the things that come out of the characters mouth had me laughing many many times.
Justice was happy in Indianapolis but when her mother decided to move back home the family came with, even if that meant moving closer to their dad. Justice and her sister love their dad but their mom and him decided long ago that they couldn't live together. Moving to this small town is like entering another world where they have their own rules and ideas. When Justice is driving her half sister home one day they stop to get gas only to come face to face with the hottest man Justice has very scene, when she realizes that her wallet is missing Court the hot guy comes to the rescue. Then quickly leaves.
Court can't believe how beautiful Justice is but she is under age and Jared's daughter, Jared was like the father Court never had. When Court finds out his is very wrong about Justice he knows her being Jared daughter isn't enough to keep him away. When Court and Justice begin to date they can't believe how easily they fit together, and how quickly they begin to fall in love. All can't be that easy with Court being in the local MC, his life and his job keep him in harms way, and if that isn't enough his ex has no problem causing problems in the entire town, and once she finds out that Court is moving on and her son is to she sets her mind on causing more problems than ever before.
This book was so fun, the sisters(Justice, Journey and Poppy) had me laughing throughout this book. The way they see the world makes for some funny situations. Like all of the books from Ms. Hunter Court is an amazing hero Justice is it for him, and no one else even enters his mind. They both have a one track mind when it comes to the love for each other, and no one else can even come close to it. Court's son Felix isn't just a cute little kid to add cuteness, he really adds to the story and I loved seeing him and Justice get to know each other as well as his and Courts interactions.
The "villain" in this book drove me bonkers, I hated her so much and I wanted them to pay from word one and the further she goes the more I hated her. I loved seeing this world that was created,a nd I didn't just fall in love with Justice and Court but with everyone there. I also really liked how this MC story isn't a cookie cutter MC story. I will say that this story doesn't revolve around the MC, they are a intricate part but not the main focus. This didn't bother me at all intact I liked that more than one thing was going on in this story here. I would also like to add for anyone sick of men who sleep with any woman that is within a 100 mile radius. Our hero is no that in fact
I can't wait to se what happens in book two, I think I have a guess after reading this book. I am not anywhere near ready to say goodbye to all these characters, and I really hope we get to see more and get more from everyone in this story. I feel like there is so much we don't know and all of it I am wanting to more of. While there is tons of funny in this book it's not just funny. The love story between Court and Justice is amazing. The relationship between Justice and her family, and Court and his son just adds to this book and makes us even more connected to these charcters and pulled me in even more to this story.
There are very few authors that I know I can count on to give me a story I will love with characters that will just as easily fall in love with but Bijou Hunter never lets me down. She's an author I am always on the look out for new books and an author I know who won't let me down. I can't wait for book two I'm not ready to say good bye to these characters or this world and I'm glad I don't have to just yet. ** I have been told that book two will have a different h and H, and will finish some things from this story.
I am 2 for 2 with the Bijou Hunter books!! I loved Justice and Court so much. This story had me laughing out loud on more than one occasion.
Court is a member of the local MC. After a disastrous relationship years prior, he chooses to focus on his son and club duties. Time passes and before he knows it, he's been celibate for 5 years (you heard me right) He is the sexy bad boy we all love. He meets Justice and initially thinks she is underage. After finding out she is older than she appears, nothing is stopping him from having her. Not even her father, Jared, who took him under his wing and was a mentor to him. I think Justice could rank up there with some of my all time favorite h's! She was funny, sweet, loved her family and quickly fell in love with Court and Felix.
The seconday characters were great. I can't wait to see who the next story is about. Journey and Poppy were snarky and sarcastic, but their love for their sister was so evident. Felix was quiet and sweet. He just slid right into their family with ease.
I anxiously await the next installment in this series. I pray Ms Hunter stays on this path with the devoted heros and witty dialogue. This book has: -no cheating -no om drama -ow drama in the form of a trouble- making ex (hero hates her) -no pushing away -epilogue with a HEA
Wow this book was long for nothing. I will not give a full review here because I skimmed the middle chapters as the heroine pissed me off with her desperation and the hero. This book was sweet but honestly I had a hard time with him at times. It had some very funny dialogue but I think I should personally stay away from stories with guys who have kids with others. They just piss me off because it's always their issues that must be overcome and the heroine must adjust. Ahhhh the back and forth with the Baby mama drama was OTT I just can't stand that shit. Final thoughts this book was cute and funny but not for me.
This was just what I needed after the gut-wrenching, emotional two books I just got done reading (also by this same author). It was hilarious and I literally lol'd just about the whole time. I love this author's books. I love how the heroes get themselves fixated on one woman and she's it for them. This one is no different.
Justice is a happy girl...always looking at the bright side of things. I loved the banter between her, her sisters and mom. Court is the type of hero I love. He has that bad side and does bad things but still deserves to be loved by an awesome heroine. There is some baby mama drama....Becca is pure evil but Justice is a great heroine and takes it all in stride. Her sister, Journey, is one awesome chick and I was glad to see her give Becca a beat down.
I can't wait to see what the author comes up with next in this series. There are many characters who will have great stories.
If I had one complaint about this book, it was the overuse of the word "queef". It seemed like once it started being used, it was on every page multiple times...just a little overdone IMO. Other than that, you can't go wrong with this hilarious book.
Justice knew when the tall hunk of man Court came to her rescue, that she was going to stalk him until he either noticed her or had her arrested for stalking. She hoped that in time he may want to date her, problem was he noticed her and decided she was worth exploring.
Court doesn't date after being burned badly by one woman, the only good that came out of it was his son. Justice though throws him for a loop, she is quirky, rambles and has a confidence he never thought he would see in a woman. Not to mention her sisters who are some of the weirdest people he has met, but he is finding that for the first time in his life he is loving his life, his woman, and his new found family.
More please. I loved this, laughing out loud throughout and the sisters are hilarious. Loved Poppy and Journey. I can't wait for more, pure guilty pleasure reading.
Guess I just don't really like most of Bijou's characters. It was also a bit boring, unfortunately. Absolutely adore her writing style though. And really appreciate the witty and sarcastic lines, they made me give this book more than 1 star.
I will try more of her writing, I'm sure I'll find something fun to read.
This book was absolutely hilarious. There were so many laugh out loud moments that my family thought I was a little crazy. The banter between Justice and her sisters was so funny. They picked on each other all the time but you could feel the love and loyalty they had for each other. Justice was a glass half full type of girl. Always the optimist. Court was a pretty quiet guy most of the time. He had his club and his son and was basically going through the motions until the day he meets Justice. Justice was always honest and didn't have much of a filter and never held anything back. She taught Court to be more like that as well. His son was adorable. The Hs baby mama This author really does no wrong in my eyes and I will read every book that she puts out there.
Star Ratings: Heroine (Justice): 23yrs old – 5/5 Hero (Court): 28yrs old – 5/5 Plot: 5/5 Grovel: none Cheating: none – h was a virgin and the H was celibate for 5 years HEA: yes with babies! Triggers: some OW drama
Average score: 5/5
Best Line: “As damp as my panties get, I want to keep my self-respect in check.”
Worst Line: “My future lover gave us an order, so shut up while I submit to his will." – it was a funny line in the context but submitting is not my thing
Personal Review: This was a great, unique love story with brilliant characters and realistic children.
Random Ramblings: •The h is not at all subtle! •I completely understand what it is like to have a younger sister, so the bickering was funny •I love the quirkiness of Bijou’s romances •My heart hurt for Felix’s siblings
Fun book w/ lots of laughs & dark humor (love this). BH excels at lol scenes. I could of done w/ some toning down of h snarky attitude in the beginning. She mellowed out as the story progressed. queef was way over used. I loved the plot.
At face value this was a good read. Not a lot of depth to the characters especially the side ones but I don't think that was the goal. The MC were an awesome match. I loved the H.
I am just going to hang this one up for now. I just can't get passed the behavior of the heroine. I liked the hero from where I stopped and may go back for him but not sure. I just have a hard time even understanding the heroine and her sense of humor throws me off.

Not the book for me. Super aggressive (but supposedly innocent) heroine. The sarcastic humor was too much for me. Family dynamics were weird. I'm trying to finish and I don't think it's going to happen. Oh, and one last thing, I've never read the word queef so much. "What the queef!" "Why are you acting like a queef?" "I'm sorry I was a queef." "Since I didn't know what in the queef he was talking about..." "I don't get why you're so queefing nervous." "Can't figure out what the queef to do..." "People in this town are shifty as queef." Basically, the author uses queef to replace the word 'fuck'. She should have gone with fuck. Due to so many queefs, there's an unusual number of q's in this book.
The language is super juvenile. Doesn't fit the theme of the book in my opinion.
This one started out okay since I like sarcastic humor, unfortunately it wasn't a page turner. I thought it was an odd book, part romantic comedy, sprinkled with dark moments involving the hero and his MC. I liked the romantic relationship, but overall it wasn't great.
I'm rating it 3 stars because it had some funny moments and I was somewhat entertained. I would never reread, I thought the characters were too immature and the author overused queef. It was funny the first couple of times, after seeing it used 31 times... not so much.
Adorei a leitura e os personagens são muito divertidos e doidos. Ri muito e amei os diálogos sarcásticos da heroína com o herói. -------- I loved reading and the characters are very fun and crazy. Laughed a lot and I loved the heroine's witty dialogues with the hero.
H is a self confessed sociopath, kills easily in cold blood. The h and her sisters are all sassy. She falls for him at first sight and their relationship is great fun. Lots of sass, murder and him being completely enthralled by her. The h's family are great, genuinely love each other and I loved how the h added to the family as their relationships developed. Loved it even more on my 3rd read.
While the concept of the book drew me in, the dialogue of the characters threw me off. It reminded my of a horrible teen movie. This not like any MC book I have ever read. It is extremely childish and really had no solidarity in terms of a story. I didn't get past Chapter 3 because of these issues.
I can't think of how to describe this book without giving anything away while also doing it Justice(HA!). So I'll just hit the high points and beg you to do yourself a favor and pick this book up. You won't regret it! You will however, probably gets some concerned looks for frequent outbursts of hilarity. Oh, and don't forget to take a bathroom break...I'm pretty sure that the rocking back and forth while busting out laughing is what really scared my family.
So, I'll put the nitty gritty break down in spoiler mode...just in case knowing that is considered a spoiler.
I loved this novel. The story grabbed me and I could not put it down until I was finished. Yes I missed a night's sleep but reading this novel was so totally worth not getting any sleep. I love the characters and I loved the dialogue and banter. Sooooo good! I loved how the story flowed but the author was able to grab me and I could not wait to see what was going to happen next. I have read all of this author's novel's and loved them. I am always worried that the last novel can not top the new novel, but this author never disappoints. I loved this novel and I can't wait to see what will be coming next.
I DNF'd this one after trying 2X...I just didn't like her and her sister and family enough to persevere to even get to the smexy times (I'm assuming there were some)...they were just too over the top sarcastic and awful to each other. I do not ever want someone to tell me they hate me...I'm just not wired like that....but many people loved this book. I think its the fact that RomCom isn't for me...I will take insta, dark, erotica, sweet/lights out, witty...but the books I've read labelled RomCom are more mean than funny to me.
DNF. 47%. HATE heroines chasing heroes. Don’t like heroes who push away. woulda avoided if I’d known the heroine was so pathetic. Loved everything about her except this and it’s not a trope I want to read. 1.5 ⭐️ because the writing was decent. I looked past the single dad trope which I don’t like much even! Would be willing to try other books by this author if the heroes aren’t cowards who push away and heroines aren’t man chasers that take any scraps they get.

This book had me laughing pretty much constantly. The banter between all of the characters just tickled my funny bone in the best of ways. I adored Justice's confidence and sunshiny attitude. I loved the relationship between the sisters. I thought Court was an interesting hero. Don't go into this thinking you're getting a gritty MC read. As far as the MC aspect goes this book is pretty fluffy, but that in no way ruined the story. Sweet and funny and a damn good time.
