Lee and Mason - Part 2
Cruel Obsession is the second book in the Moretti Siblings series and is continues the story from the first book, Twisted Obsession, and it's cliffhanger. The story is about Everleigh/Lee and Mason, along with her abusive and obsessed ex Gavin and then add in his missing fiancee Shelby. Hold on for an emotional roller-coaster of a read. This baby is packed with drama, angst, love, romance, mystery, danger and so much more. I enjoyed this second book and the story-line. A very entertaining and engaging read.

I love this storyline. Lee and Mason are at odds because of his former fiancee. Mason is truly conflicted on what to do, but he does know one thing he does not want to have a life without Lee. Gavin, Lee's ex-boyfriend is still obsessed with her and will stop at nothing to get her back.
This book is dark, but delightful to read. Suspenseful and entertaining.

Loved the book it was great. I always love a good mafia story and this did not disappoint with Moretti siblings. Mason and Lee their story was so twisted, dark, abusive on women, passion, lust, and desire. Mason was wanting Lee but he still was not over his fiancee from leaving him. Lee was quite taken by Mason she felt safe with him until she went looking for him.

Wow, this picks up after Book 1. With the re-appearance of Mason’s fiancé, Shelby. Mason is conflicted, he wants answers as to where she’s been for 18 month. Lee is left out in the cold. Gavin is still obsessed with Lee and with all Mason is going through, Gavin strikes again. Very good finish to this duet. Highly recommend this book.

There is no reasoning with crazy. Gavin was beyond crazy, psychotic, and obsessed. I enjoyed the story but wished it had been edited better because the typos distract from the story.

2.5 overall rating - what is with all the terrible editing? It's far worse than a few typo's, but complete sentences that don't make sense unless you add or delete words in it.
Wow....how can a duet go from a 4 rating in book one to barely a 3 rating in book two? This story went from a good read to a pointless read. The characters who I connected with in book one became mindless silly characters that cried all the time (Lee) while the other one drank all the time (Mason).
Lee's character, who had shown such strength in book one, became a whiney, sniveling character who spends much of book two having needless banter with herself; crying all the time while examining her life choices, as well as her poor choices in men and the haves and have not's that have plagued her entire life. She becomes a train wreck when Mason's ex shows up after an 18 month exile with some b.....llsh...t story that he buys hook line and sinker. Everyone warned him she was a snake long before her disappearance and he still falls for her lies. It doesn't say much for Mason who seemed like a good guy in book one and turns into a spineless piece of garbage in book 2 until he finally catches Shelby in the big lie. She plays his guilt and his insecurities through much of book two.
Gavin, the demented psycho ex-boyfriend/rock star takes up too much of this book. Somehow, Lee's father as well as Mason and his security team seem to be outplayed by this drugged up rock star who manages to outsmart them throughout much of this book. Luca (Lee's dad) is the head of one of the biggest Mafia's in the US and yet he can't get a handle on dear old Gavin. There was too much time spent on Gavin's character and too many attempts at kidnapping Lee. When he finally is successful in kidnapping Lee, all the pieces come together, including the kidnapping of her 16 year old brother Antonio. I never really understood Ava's character in this story, since she was supposed to be Lee's good friend and yet was always around Gavin and his entourage. The story became spotty and stopped focusing on the two main characters. There was too much needless banter amongst secondary characters and not enough substance between the two main characters. Much of their interaction was centered around sex.
The ending is fraught with torture and abuse that seems obsessive. Lee and Mason get their HFN in a story that deals with so many triggers, i.e., terror, brutality, lies and physical/mental abuse that may be hard for some readers to get through.

The HEA for for Mason and Lee, but not without a fight (or several).
I really like enjoy this author, consistently well-written stories with plenty of romantic tension. "Sweet Surrender" is no different, though I do have a minor quibble that I will put under a spoiler below.
SPOILER:
Mason is kind of a jerk in the way he handled the Shelby situation. No, not that he's angry, which he thoroughly has a right to be, but he got physically threatening and literally physical in a way that's literally abusive. I can't get down with that, and it makes me think less of a him as a character. I've lived with an abusive man and there really is no such thing as "deserving it". If he can slam one woman against a wall he can slam you against one, too. It's a no-go trait for me in real life as well as fiction.
END SPOILER, but content warning:
CW: Book should contain a trigger warning for sexual assault. Yes, character is a villain but even non-penetrative sexual behavior with an unconscious character is deeply disturbing, and it certainly was for me.
REGULAR PROGRAMMING:
Can't wait for the next in the series, when poor bad boy brother Dima can maybe get thrown a bone. Like, one that wants him?

The story continues for Mason and Lee
Sweet Surrender is the second book and conclusion in the story of Mason and Lee. Mason is one of the Moretti brothers and Lee works for the family company with Mason as her boss. In the first book, No Escape, things between Mason and Lee do start to heat up and Mason wants her. But Lee cannot give in to her desire and attraction to Mason as she is in hiding from her ex-boyfriend Gavin who does not accept that they are over. But Gavin is not quite done with Lee and he continues to be out there waiting and planning to get her back, even it is the last thing he ever does. He definitely has plans and when he executes them Lee is put into more danger.
I really enjoyed the conclusion to Mason and Lee's story. It was a well written story with a great story-line and the characters are beyond great.

After literally fleeing for her life from Gavin, Lee finally starts feeling safe around the Moretti's and she is also now working for them. Since walking in on Mason and his long lost fiancee kissing, Lee has been avoiding Mason. Gavin is still out there biding his time and planning on getting Lee back if it's the last thing he does. Book 4 in this wonderfully written series continues on just like the others, lots of drama, suspense, intrigue, emotion overload and romance. If you haven’t been reading this series, then where have you been? Grab book 1 and catch up because this is a wonderfully written, attention grabbing, page turner! The characters are well rounded and there are some dark scenes and Gavin, well he’s out of his head! This truly is a brilliant series.

The heartbreak you could literally feel through the book that Everleigh was going through brought tears to my eyes. Mason was a man and taking the right path in determining how he felt and to find out to his ex that pulled a disappearing act on him. But Mason could tell that something was not right with her and finally expressed his feelings for Lee. Lee finally got her wish in the end of her wish for Gavin to be gone and to get her HEA.

This is the conclusion of Mason and Everleigh's (Lee) story and it is a doozy. This book has a lot going on. Shelby tries to insert herself back into Mason's life, which causes problems with Mason and Lee's relationship. Lee's psychotic ex-boyfriend is at it again and is using Lee's family against her to get her back. There is suspense and danger. There is also some scenes that will have triggers for some people.
I loved this dark and dangerous romance. Cannot wait for more from KJ Thomas.

Sweet-surrender
I absolutely was so bored with this story so I started skipping pages just to end it. There was so much inconsistency in your telling of the story. You made Mason a lousy bone headed wuss. Who throws tantrums and gets drunk every time something goes wrong. This is my last book to read with you I am sorry because I think you could be a good writer and whoever gives you a 5 on this book is not a avid reader.

This was such a great conclusion of Mason and Everleigh story. Like No escape, part 1 of Mason and Everleigh story, i read Sweet Surrender in one sitting. This story pulled me right in and I could not put my Kindle down.

This series is just so good and one I can not get enough of. I fell in love with Lee and Mason in the first part of their story and even more in this one. Of course its not all easy going but when push comes to shove will he be there for her when she needs him the most? Really amazing story!
