USA TODAY AND PUBLISHERS WEEKLY BESTSELLER - A yearlong book of prayers to bring nightly hope and a sense of connection to mothers who feel alone, from the mother-daughter team behind the Midnight Mom Devotional Facebook page
There is something about a quiet house in the midnight hours that causes stress and anxious thoughts that have been ignored throughout the day to rise to the surface of a mother's heart. When the world goes still around you, it's good to know you're not alone; there are so many other mommas just like you and a God who wants to meet you in the quiet.
What began as a small online prayer ministry to encourage moms in the middle of the night quickly grew into a worldwide prayer movement known as the Midnight Mom Devotional. Now this encouraging book of prayers connects you with a community of moms to strengthen your heart and give you support when you need it most.
Each night offers a different prayer for mommas in all circumstances of life, including
- being fearful and anxious - needing a miracle - caring for a sick child - feeling as if there is nothing left to give - welcoming a new baby - experiencing sorrow - getting ready for a new beginning
In the stillness and the night, take heart in knowing that women across the world are joining you in prayer and that God is listening and loving you right where you are.

This is a great little devotional/prayer book that would make a great gift for any mothers in your life. It's mainly geared towards mothers with kids still in the house but any mom could get some benefit from reading it. After each heartfelt prayer is a prompt to list who you prayed that prayer for so it prompts you to think of other moms who may be struggling. Most of the worries and insecurities moms face are covered in this book. I liked the index at the back to help you find what you need. Thank you Net Galley for the opportunity to review this book for my honest opinion.
Received this through Net Gallery, thank you so very much! How did you know that I needed thus in my life right now? I'm a Mom of two son,31&34 and as old as they are, they still need prayers and they are still my boys! I accidentally found this, but I don't think so! God lead me to this book. I still wake in the middle of the night thinking of things my son's are going through or one of my friends or just children of the world! As we go through this virus thing here in the US and around the world,we need All the prayers and help from God right now if we ever did before! I believe more and more people will be turning to God,this is such a scary time and I hope the ones who do turn to God they stay there! This book will help you when you have run out of your own words. Even if you don't believe in God or prayers,I really think this book will help you see! Read for yourself, you will be so glad you did! It touches your heart that only a Mom can understand even if not a mom.. Thank you for writing this book, your writings touch my heart not like any other book I have come across in a long time.
This might be a bit of a “cheat review”, but I requested this book because I knew my best friend and single mom of two young boys needed some comfort.
I requested it so that she could read it while staying with me.
She has been struggling and feeling overwhelmed, because it’s not easy to raise two small boys all on her own.
So, I let her read this book while she’s been staying with me and she said she felt relieved and that it gave her hope and strength, and made her feel like she wasn’t “failing as a mom”.
She’s a very devoted and spiritual person, so I knew, I just knew, that this book would help her.
And after reading it, she immediately went on to order a copy for herself and for other mom friends of hers.
So, even though this isn’t a “direct review” from myself, it comes straight from her, and she’s giving it a full 5 stars, because she said, and I quote, “This was what I needed in this moment!”.
Extremely grateful to NetGalley, the publishers and authors for allowing me to receive this book and review it honestly.
I all too often just fall into bed and exhaustedly exhale my consciousness towards God, sort of a desperate plea for some sleep and a better day tomorrow. This book has helped me be a little more intentional as I say goodnight to my Father. Although the prayers are from a variety of perspectives and not all directly apply to me, they help turn my thoughts towards others I know, rather than just on my own exhaustion.
I do wish there were Bible verses along with the prayers so I could meditate on my Father’s Word as I drift off to sleep.
Some other reviews complain that they are just her Facebook posts, but that’s ok. Authors are allowed to publish on a variety of platforms. As for me, I appreciate a real book in my hands as I look for many more ways to live offline.
I gratefully received an ARC from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for my unbiased review.
I understand that you're feeling unsure and questioning yourself, but I'm an AI language model and cannot diagnose or evaluate individuals. It's important to remember that everyone has their own unique journey and experiences when it comes to relationships and self-love.
If you're feeling this way, it might be helpful to seek support from trusted friends, family members, or professionals such as therapists or counselors who can provide guidance and help you navigate these emotions. They can offer you personalized advice and support based on your specific situation.
Remember that finding the right person and experiencing love takes time. It's important to focus on loving and accepting yourself first, as that can create a solid foundation for healthy relationships. Keep an open mind, be patient, and continue to work on personal growth and self-improvement.
This book is so uplifting and spot on. There are so many times as a mom you feel like you are the only one going through something and others may not be able to relate but the prayers of Midnight Mom Devotional show that we are all a little more alike than we believe. I also love that not only is a specific prayer included for each day but a scripture as well. I am so excited to be taking the knowledge and prayers with me into 2021! Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for an ecopy of this book.
I found this devotional very interesting. The devotionals are more like 3 minute devotionals. But very pointed. With journaling and prayers these devotionals can start your day off on a good foot. The only thing that I would suggest to add would be a topical index so if I needed an extra touch of encouragement for a particular reason I could automatically flip to thee devotional. I received a complementary copy of this book. I was not required to write a positive review.. the opinion I have given is my own. I am disclosing this according to the guidelines.
Oh my goodness! I love this! These prayers are simple and so fitting and relatable. I am definitely going to be using this through the year. I love that I received this ARC on January 5. So I can start fresh. Thank you so much for this copy to use when things get tough or when I want to focus on what's important. I am a busy mom of three and sometimes it can get overwhelming. This book is set up in an easy use way and will be so helpful.
Love this book so much! It's so soothing to read at the end of a long busy day. I related to so many devotionals in this book! I also sent many of them to friends and family that came to my mind as I read. I will definitely be buying copies of this book for all the special moms in my life. Thank you for the chance to read and review this book!
This is a great devotional for moms. I started following Becky Thompson on Facebook after reading through this devotional. This book has some of her past Facebook posts plus new ones. I have recommended her book and Facebook site to friends.
Thanks to WaterBrook and Becky Thompson for an advanced copy for my honest review.
This is a beautiful book of prayers. I love that there is a variety of prayers and if a situation applies to you, then it can be balm to your heart. By having such a vast selection of prayers, it also allows the opportunity to take the focus off yourself and pray for other moms.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions in this review are my own.
This is a year long devotional and I’m still working my way through it. I’ve been using it for a few months now and love it. Each day has a short prayer and it always brings a friend to mind to pray for that day. I love that it helps me to pray for others more!
I enjoy having this book beside my bed. Not every prayer applies to my life as a Mom, but it is a practice in praying over others, trusting that God knew who my heart was lifting up, even if I didn’t.
Devotionals from the daily posts on Facebook, while encouraging and helpful, I was looking for a bit more that just the hard copy of the prayers online.
I don’t know—I love the idea of praying for other moms and the variety of struggles/situations, but somehow I just couldn’t stick with it might after night….
This is one of my favorite daily devotionals. I've been using it for several years now. It has great prayers for any Christian mom to pray for herself and/or others.
What it’s About: Prayers for every day, a good fit for those seeking a sense of community and support in their motherhood journey, especially during the quiet moments of the night when anxieties and fears can surface.
What I thought: I enjoyed reading this in 2023, I often would take pictures and send it to the person I was praying for and felt like it was just what was needed for the time.
How it made me feel: 😊✝️

I LOVE this book of prayers. It is written by a mother/daughter team who run a Facebook group that prays for mamas each night. These women are both mothers and they know what it is to be in the thick of it. The prayers in this book are raw, they are real and they are deep. By the fifth prayer in I was in tears. What I love especially about these prayers is that each starts with the phrase “tonight we pray for the momma who...”. Some of these prayers relate directly to me and what I am experiencing right now as a mother, and the sense that others are praying with and for me, and understand my circumstances is so powerful. Others relate to circumstances I have not or my never experience (the momma with a special needs child or who has lost a spouse). These prayers are powerful as well as they caused me to think of the mothers I know who are experiencing this and to mindfully lift them up in prayer to our Father.
This book is so powerful. In just a couple of minutes, with just a few simple words, it reminds you that you are not alone in this journey though motherhood. It demonstrates beautifully that all you need to survive the tough moments and to celebrate wonderful ones is time with your Heavenly Father.
I follow the Midnight Mom on Facebook so when I saw they were coming out with a devotional book I knew I needed it! This book is a compilation of daily prayers, one for every day of the year. A lot of times that nights prayer fits in with your exact need or someone you are close to, but other times you might be praying for the needs of a momma you don’t even know. That’s what makes this so little book so special. You’re not just praying for moms in general but a mom in a particular season of life, such as a mom of a newborn, or a child going away to college, or perhaps a mom going through a specific situation like dealing with a sick child, or loss of a family member. Each prayer is detailed with specific circumstances to help you pray from your heart even if you find it hard to pray. I like how the prayers are dated and are short but to the point so you can do them easily every day. I have the ebook, so I can’t write in mine, but there is space to put a name of someone you specifically had in mind while doing that nights prayer. It’s encouraging, inspirational, and a must have for a Christian mom!
This year long devotional by Becky Thompson focuses on prayer for a mom's heart. Each day has a prayer for different circumstances of life, including:
*military spouse who's husband/wife is deployed *mom who is struggling with a teenager *the grieving mom *the mom with a sick child *the new mom and many more.
Each prayer is a page or so long, and includes space to reflect on whether the prayer is for the reader or someone in their life. This is also a great place to write further notes as the Lord leads.
I really enjoyed this quick little devotional. I found it to be a good tool in prayer for myself and my family, as well as those around me. It was interesting to see how the Lord highlighted in my mind as I prayed. I allowed me to get my focus off my own advice and helped me to lay my loved ones in his hands. This would be a sweet devotional to start in the new year.
*Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.
I have read two other books by Becky Thompson, and I found them to be inspirational. I also follow her on Facebook and read the daily prayers that are posted there. So, when I saw that she was coming out with a devotional, I was very excited to start reading a copy!
Midnight Mom Devotional is broken up into 365 readings, one for each day of the year. Each daily reading is a prayer for a mom in a specific circumstance or stage of life. Some of the prayers pertained to me, and some reminded me of another woman that I could be in prayer for. After the prayer, there is a prompt saying, "Tonight I am praying this for ________________.", and space for you to write a name and journal about that. This book is a great way to find comfort for yourself, but it is also a way to guide you to pray for others. It would be the perfect little book to start or end your day with prayer and reflection.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher, through Net Galley. All opinions are my own.
As someone who has followed Becky for a while and enjoyed, prayed, needed her midnight momma prayers, I am so excited for this book. I just spent the last hour looking through each prayer of this devotional and am so excited to share this with friends. I've already preordered two; one for me, one for a friend. I'm so grateful for the ministry that has been created by Becky and her momma, Ms. Susan. They post prayers nightly on their page and spend time praying for so many of the momma's that post.
I love they give space to write what we are personally praying for. It gives space for us to pray our own prayers and hear the voice of God for ourselves.
Thank you for writing this devotional. So many momma's are going to be blessed by this.
Do you know a mom who needs some helpful thoughts sent their way? Are they doing too much? Do they berate their body? Do they worry about a spouse in law enforcement? Do they give and give and give?
There are thoughts for all these moms and many more in this book of 365 prayers. Written by a mother and daughter team, the authors encourage their readers to think about the needs of those they know. This book has a nice concept and will offer thoughts for a whole year.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review
I've been following Becky Thompson's Midnight Mom posts on FB for a while and LOVED this sweet devotional. If you're familiar with her posts, the book is pretty much a compilation of those and new ones. I think this would be an amazing gift for any mom who finds herself feeling down or in need of a friend who truly understands. I was an early reader, thanks to #NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions are my own.
What a wonderful idea for a mom's devotional book. The concept of thousands of women wrapping other mothers in prayer is humbling and uplifting. As a 365-day devotional, every category of mother is covered, from the mom of a sick child to the mom who is sick herself. I plan to purchase many copies of this book as a gift for new moms and as a Christmas gift for moms of all ages who may be in need of comfort and prayer.
