Sometimes beautiful gardens hide rotting corpses, because sometimes, girls who nobody ever looked twice at finally SNAP... A father can only be a tyrant for so long, a daughter can only be pushed so far, and a witness in the wrong place at the wrong time can only hope for so much...
Faces in Weeds is an adult literary horror story. 18+ Mature Content.
Kai Bishop was born and raised in New Brunswick, Canada, where he became fascinated with fantasy and sci-fi from a young age. He writes and publishes under the names Apollo Blake and Cosmo Knox. A massive lover of books, film, video game, and comics, he decided to become a writer when he was twelve years old, and never looked back. His favorite genres are urban fantasy and paranormal romance, he loves both outlining and discovery writing and switches between them from project to project, always listens to music when writing, and his favorite part of the writing process is drafting. He loves animals, sketching, gaming, cooking, and journaling, and spends most of his spare time reading, making music, and looking after his cats and dogs. He is sometimes sane, but mostly not, and almost always overthinking, which actually helps with the writing a lot.
Faces in Weeds is available now! I published this back in February and it's a short story about a girl who murders her father, for reasons. Check it out if you're curious what they are! a href="https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08....
Do you enjoy stories about murder? Crime? Twisted family drama? Well, here's a treat! I 'm publishing this today & hopefully Amazon will make it available later today or early tomorrow. It's a short story (4k words) and it costs 99c!
I think it's honestly best if I send you all in blind on this one, which is why the blurb is so vague. If you'd like to get a taste of the mood I was going for, here's a couple of the songs I listened to on repeat while I was drafting and editing this over the past couple of days:
Bless Your Soul by The Bones of J.R. Jones
Bad Things by Rayland Baxter (This one is THE song ok y'all?)
Hell's Bells by Carey Ann Hearst
Old Time Religion by Parker Millsap
Stuck in The South by Adia Victoria

I had a lot of fun working on this dark little nightmare and I hope it's the right slice of anxiety/building dread and disorientation for your horror needs. :) Writing spooky stuff is nice and I probably have more coming in the next few weeks, so keep an eye out! (Or put it in a jar of vinegar on a shelf in your shack in the swamps, I don't care, it's your eye, not mine. Live ya life.)
