L. Moone - Happy Endings for Underdogs

I first started writing and publishing in 2012 because I craved to see more of "my kind of books" on the shelves. In any scenario, you'll find me rooting for the underdog. The (emotionally) scarred hero who hasn't really had much (or any) luck in love. The shy office worker who wants to pursue the man of her dreams, but hasn't quite mustered the courage yet. All my characters are beautifully flawed and messed up, in a way that makes them perfect for one another.

By the way, since 2015, I also started to write Paranormal and Fantasy Romance as Lorelei Moone. Take a moment to browse all my books, because there's bound to be something you'll enjoy.

L. Moone used to publish under the pen name "Hedonist Six" before 2019. Older titles are likely still showing up under this old pen name.

I really don't know how to rate this book. On one level, I want it to be my 4-stars read as I enjoyed the first and the last quarter a lot, but on another level, the middle of the book was so dull, dragging on and on that I think 2 stars is the best I can give it. To be honest, I almost put it down several times, and if I hadn't skipped and skimmed through some pages, this one would probably have gone straight to my lost-interest shelf.

The story started off nicely, the heroine approached the hero at the bar and then they had one night stand together. That wasn’t entirely new to me, but somehow, it just effortlessly drew me into the story. Sadly, I just felt like nothing much happened in middle of the book and it nearly sent me to sleep. Thankfully, around the beginning of the last quarter, things started to get back on the right track. George's aloofness toward Lucy got my attention back to the story and I was curious to find out what was really going on with him.

Anyway, I'm glad I didn't give up halfway through the book because there was a happy ending that I was satisfied with.

Since the story was told from Lucy’s point of view only, I didn’t get enough insight into George’s character. I would probably have liked him more if I had gotten to know him better. But for some reason, I found myself enjoying Lucy’s character more than I expected. She’s strong, independent, honest, and straightforward. I liked how she handled their relationship and that she chose to let things come clear between them rather than remain silent or give up.

Despite this book’s boring parts, I would consider it an ok read. I didn’t love it, but didn’t hate it either. Nevertheless, as I was pleased with the ending, I think I’m going with 3 stars.

Sometimes it's nice to curl up just a book that is pretty much all about sex. We don't have too think much but we end up with an enjoyable read full of that heat and spice that we crave.

This is the first book that I've read by this author and apparently it is a rewrite of another book of hers. This is a novella length read that is completely about a hook up and the interesting days that follow.

I did enjoy the character development and the author gave us a good ending with a nice HEA. The two main characters seem very well-balanced and I liked them both, which goes a lot towards enjoying the book too.

While I enjoyed the read overall, in some places it seemed stilted and didn't flow extremely well. This was a quick read, perfect for a relaxing evening with a nice bit of steam, anticipation, and passion. A good choice for a enjoyable read.

eh, not my cup of tea.

This book was a solid two stars for me most of the way through. I don’t know if it got better or if I was just feeling more generous by the end but I bumped it up to a three. I thought the writing, especially in the first few chapters, was kind enough d a jumbled mess. Also, the protagonist, Lucy, was wretched. I literally hated her. The story was pretty boring in general and only picked up or had a glimmer of interest near the end. Let’s just say I’m glad I got this series starter for free and won’t be continuing on.

"One Night Stand", is the first book I have read from Hedonist Six and I have to say I truly enjoyed this short story.
The story one follows Lucy , a young business women with her own web design company who has been so involved with proving to herself , family and friends that her choice of a career was not a mistake, however along her way she has forgotten to have a personal life. That changes one evening after a business meeting , a meeting for a job that could make or break her while sitting in a pub after her meeting she is drawn to a tall. Broad shouldered, long haired man sitting quietly at the opposite bar; but working up the courage to approach took a bit.
Though she may have had to talk herself into it, getting up and approaching George was a phenomenal move, the attraction between the two is strong, and Licy never thought she would want. Ore than a one night stand, or accept Georges offer for help with her business.
These two proceed through the story trying to balance a sexy personal relationship along with business and an unexpected twist or two.
Well written, sexy and engrossing.

What if, what if, what if... This whole story started when Lucy approached a man in a bar. Without even seeing his face! Form there, their lives entwine in ways that neither one of them thought possible after what should have been an arm's-length encounter. This story was interesting because the actions of the characters were the reverse of the typical roles I have read. In other words, George was a little shy, self-conscious, etc., whereas Lucy was more bold. I, personally, and without spoilers, found the conflict towards the end to be a little lacking, specifically George's reason for his actions. Aside from that, this was a good story and made me ponder, "What if she had never approached him in that bar? How different their lives would have been!" ***I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review***

Instant Connection?

Lucy and George—(tall and sexy with his long hair pulled back) meet when stopping at a bar. He's surprised, well in all honesty he's completely shocked when she comes up to him. For Lucy, her rush out the door in the morning light doesn't feel right with George, she doesn't want to leave him like that. Can she learn to let someone stay in her life more than just one night stands?
Lucy's hit a rough patch with her business, but this new client should turn things around for the better again. She's used to being in control and taking care of everything herself, but when a crucial project that can make or break her reputation as well as her business after a slump starts to fall apart due to things out of her control, she has to learn to allow others to have control.
I enjoyed reading this story. I couldn't wait to turn the page to see what was next. This book is the first in the series. It is well-written a d the plot
although quick is easy to follow. Quite the hot little read.

It was short, but not sweet. It was downright steamy. Right
down to the description of George. Mmmm love a man with
all that long hair. And the rest, makes you wonder if he is
really out there. With the way she described him made you
feel as you were in the bar with Lucy ogling him too. But even
as this one night turned into more you could tell there was
an issue no one was addressing. As they say honesty is best
for a relationship to survive

Now before I ruin this for you I will leave off here. I hope you
enjoy these books as much as I did. If you do like this book,

when you do; they value your opinions too..

Lucy is unwinding with a drink at a bar when she notices a husky man sitting near her. Even with his back to her, she's instantly attracted to his build and approaches him. Face to face, she's even more fascinated, and she strikes up a conversation. Besides his name, Greg, he shares very little about himself, yet Lucy finds herself more and more drawn to him. She invites him back to her hotel room, but when the night is over she finds it hard to watch him leave. Lucy is used to one night stands, but Greg seems like so much more.

This is my second book by this author, and this one was just as good as The Rebound List. The author writes heroes that are shy, insecure, or self conscious, and heroines that are forced to appear powerful and experienced despite what they felt inside. I found that really relatable. Lucy and Greg aren't used to relationships, and Lucy mentally dwelt on her insecurities often. Their emotional maturity level felt like they were in their low 20s rather than mid 30s. This book is very steamy with explicit love scenes. It's a novella length story, so the pair fall in insta-love, but that just leaves room for more steamy scenes!

The narration was well done, the book is set in England and the narrator speaks with a pleasant accent. She did a great job with the male and female character voices. I'll be listening to this one again for sure.

This is a story of George and Lucy and their one night stand. I thought their one night together was more of a connection with each other. It was truly amazing how each of them only told just so much of themselves to each other. It caused a lot more problems as their feelings for each other grew. Lucy felt guilty keeping George from his job and George felt strange being with Lucy because she had so much more than he. Lucy’s work flowed so much better having George as Project Manager. When things started to fall apart Lucy finally called George to find out what was going on and the answer had her driving to see him immediately. When they both were honest with each other it cleared up their problems. At Lucy’s birthday party George gave Lucy a ticket to a concert of their favorite band. Lucy then gave George a gift that was unbelievable. What a great ending to a well written story. I would recommend this book to any adult. I received a free copy of this book. I am leaving this review of my own free will.

One night stand was a good story of two people who met in a bar and had a one night stand that turned into more. Where I struggled with this story was feeling like George had any personality. Lucy was the main character and her moods and feelings sometimes confused me, I get she was confused and unsure of the relationship I just felt like it didn't bring much to the story dwelling on it at times. George on the other hand I wanted him to man up more and speak his mind.

Though the story hit a point where I could have cared less it did change and intrigue me. Once it hit that turning point I found myself trying to guess what the big secret really was.

I received this book through Audiobook Boom for an honest, unbiased review.

Title: One Night Stand
Author: Hedonist Six

4 unexpected stars

It was a quick read about a girl needing to find a distraction with a one night stand in the hopes of regaining the control she seems to have lost with everything that's been going on with her life and business. Only, she never expected that the man she chose, sight unseen, would impact her to the point where one night isn't enough to satisfy her. The Chance Encounter series are the first novels I've read by Hedonist Six and they were, if nothing else, enchanting and captivating, making sure that suspense and action are intwined with romance and eroticism. I was curious to find out what this couple would do when faced with the problems of Lucy's business and the involvement of George with this woman considering he's part of a MC.
4.5 sexy dreams

If nothing else, Hedonist Six knows how to write scenes that leave her readers hot and bothered and wanting to read on to find out how her characters will deal and handle all the obstacles that they are faced with and in this particular situation. I was enchanted by my first novel by Hedonist Six and i can't wait to read more from her in the future.

3.5 stars - One night stand turned more romance that had a realistic English feel to it

One Night Stand is my first book by Hedonist Six and overall I enjoyed this relatively simple and light one night stand turned more romance. Being an English reader, I always enjoy it when you can tell a book is authentically British and realistic rather than how it can be perceived. This book is a relatively short, simple, quick read but can be read as a standalone with a HEA.

Lucy and George are both fairly quiet characters but come alive together in some rather heated encounters very quickly as they share an instant attraction. You do have to be open minded to instant attraction and hookups to truly enjoy this book, although the author does do a decent job at showing some real issues that can arise from such romances. Lucy and George are likeable enough characters but, if I’m honest, I didn’t fully connect with them. Told only from Lucy’s point of view, I think it would have possibly added to the characters to have gotten a little insight into George’s thoughts as you don’t ever feel like you fully know him. Yes, I can see how with the slight twist at the end of the book worked with having no warning but think it limited fully connecting with both characters.

One Night Stand is written to a good standard that makes this a simple and easy quick read. Obviously, given the title of the book, One Night Stand is fast paced initially but evens out a little to a steady pace as the book progresses. The plot was pleasant but light hearted with no real big ‘wow’ moments. There was a slight twist at the end that I didn’t fully predict from the beginning of the book, always a good thing. The one thing I did really enjoy about this book, as mentioned at the beginning, is this felt authentically English with the settings and descriptions of a few various things. This does have a HEA for Lucy and George making it a standalone quick read.

Overall, this was an ok book and I would definitely recommend it if you enjoy an English romance that is stereotypical at all with realistic characters and settings.

I give One Night Stand (Book 1 - Chance Encounters) 4 stars for providing me with a light hearted story about a very independent woman. The characters had their struggles which provided an interesting plot.

Hedonist Six has written a feel good story. It deals with personal issues and what must be done to overcome them. It was an easy read and flowed well.

George and Lucy share a one night stand after meeting at a bar. There are sparks but she's got lots in her plate at the moment. With her struggles in business and her finances, she needs help.

Lucy is very independent and strong willed. She's struggling to turn her business around and get herself out of debt. She's doesn't do relationships, she does one night stands. When she meets George she didn't bargain for her feelings to come into play. Can she do more than one night? Can she give up some control?

George Townsend, tall, husky, rough biker with a softer side. He's very quiet and like Lucy, he hasn't been in a relationship for a very long time. After spending the night with Lucy he realizes that he wants more. Will she let him into her life for more than one night?

One Night Stand (Book 1 - Chance Encounters) is a romance novel about two people meeting for what they thought would be one night but ends being a little longer than that.

I enjoyed this book and it's characters.

This was my first read by Hedonist Six and I have to say that I was pretty impressed. I felt that I could connect with the characters and that they were fiends or acquaintances of mine. Very relatable. I also loved that Hedonist Six made her characters to where they have flaws as well. It is always nice to know that characters in a book are not depicted as being perfect.

Lucy and George meet up and have a one night stand, or so they think it is going to be a one night stand. They immediately connect like no one Lucy has had an encounter with lately. Both of them agree the next morning that they want more than just the one night together and agree to see each other again. With Lucy used to being in charge of everything in all aspects of her life, it is a change for her to actually let go and let George have the lead on their relationship some. I have to admit I did not see the twist coming with this one. I was happy with it though and this was a great read. I am so glad that these two got a HEA and that things did not end with a one night stand for them . They were too much of a perfect pair for that.

description

One Night Stand was a great 4 star read.

Lucy decides to go have a drink to get work off her mind. She see’s George sitting at the bar and knows she has just found the one thing that can help her forget about work for a night.

George seems a little shy when Lucy approaches him but things start to heat up and they end up going back to Lucy’s hotel room.
All I’m going to say from here is things are not always what they seem. And there were a few twists that really added a great element to the story. These two had a great connection. If you're looking for a great quick read then you should 1-click and get started on One Night Stand. I read this in one sitting and thoroughly enjoyed it.

This wasn't my favorite Hedonist Six book, but it was alright. As the title suggests, the main characters have a one-night stand, so it pretty much jumps right into the erotica part of the book very quickly and focuses on it for a long while. I'm not a big fan of that, but it's to be expected in this kind of a story.

The original book (which I never read, just skimmed for comparison after I read this one), "Just For One Night", ends the morning after the encounter, while "One Night Stand" continues past that, delving into a continuation of Lucy and George's relationship and what happens with the job that Lucy is worrying about at the beginning of the novella. I thought the story after the initial encounter was really good; I'm glad the author chose to finish what she started in the original. It's also refreshing to see real conflict in a book, rather than a perfect meeting that leads to more perfect dates and a happily ever after.

I've received this book in exchange for an honest review.
This is the first time I've read anything by this author. And it was great knowing that this was going to be a short story which I love after a long book.

Lucy is a business woman trying to turn her company around, and whilst staying in London for a meeting she goes out looking for a one night stand like she usually would, when she comes across George a big rough biker looking man, who was actually a big softy underneath his exterior.
It was quite strange having the male role be so insecure and shy in a book but I think it was a change to all the normal alpha males out there in the book world.

The romance is quite fast paced after that but a nice one at that. It's real down to earth story that could Happen to anyone, no over the top dramas just real life.

The writing is really well written and flows nicely and all tied up nicely. Although I would love an epilogue as they conclude a story perfect for me it was a good ending.

One Night Stand is a short story in the Chance Encounters Series by Hedonist Six and is a great story if you are looking for something quick to read that has a good storyline with characters you can relate too. I have read another book in this series and what I like about it is the characters seem so real, almost as if you are reading true stories. The characters are relatable and likeable and I found myself really rooting for them to have their happily ever after.
One Night stand for me is a story about instant connections and how if you are truly mean to be with someone then fate can sometimes intervene! I liked the role reversal in this story line with Lucy being more bold and headstrong and George being a little more shy and reserved and battling with self-esteem issues. I definitely recommend this book as a feel good story that will leave you feeling all warm and fuzzy after you have finished! A good first book in this series!

This is my first read by Hedonist but if you are looking for a short and quick insta lust/love kind of book this is for sure the book to get. This is the kind of book you can start and finish within a short amount of time and i loved that.

Lucy has her own business and after a stressful day shes in a bar looking to have some fun. When she spots George across the room there is something about him that calls to her. Never been one to make the first move she cant help when her body and feet land her right next to him at the bar. The story takes off from there. Fast paced but evenly done to where its not exactly rushed and left you feeling left out.

George a gorgeous man who inadvertently is just a little shy and self conscious kind of questioning every little thing. Lucy on the other hand gives off this bold, take no shit type of person. She sees something she wants and goes for it.

This is a more down to earth story that has a very realistic feeling, every day people you could pass on the street. The characters are ones that you will instantly love (kind of fitting).

Lucy and George are a break from my norm. The h/H are sweet and nearly idyllic in a vanilla sense. Of course there are the token tattoos, motorcycles and long hair but there's no insane fire or crazy lust that I always get caught up in. Then there's the fact that George is too secretive and Lucy is too tunnel visioned. I suppose this was the gimmick but I prefer couples that just come out with what they want.

For a first time read from this author I was mildly intrigued but I don't know if I would be able to handle another go around. Probably because I like darker characters or those who know exactly what they want. But who knows. Other authors that I have placed in a similar category have produced some rather delectable pieces.

A very enjoyable novella, that was a quick well paced well written and easy to read tale. The main characters Lucy and George were fairly rounded and the book wasn't just a series of sex scenes strung together as other steamy romances can be but had a more developed story line. I liked the setting and the contrast in their personalities and confidence.
I wasn't convinced by the discord between the two of them but overall I spent an enjoyable few hours with these believable characters and would read other works by this author. This was 3.5/5 stars from me.
I received a free copy of this book from the author. I always review what I read honestly and regardless of where I have got it or how much I have paid for it.
