edit biographydelete Biography Amy Cecil is an award-winning Indie author of both historical and contemporary romance. Her penchant for Austen fan fiction, won her the title of Favorite Historical Romance Author (2016-2017) while her MC series has won several awards throughout the Indie community. Recently, she has expanded her repertoire to the thriller and erotic genres.
For as long as she can remember, Amy always had a book (or two) that she was reading for the love of getting lost within its pages. Amy has been heard to have said, “I’ve never given much thought to becoming a writer myself until I realized that if I hadn’t written my own version of Mr. Darcy, I might have run out of material to read.”
And thus, her first novel was born, A Royal Disposition. In the words of Miss Austen herself, “I wish as well as everybody else to be perfectly happy; but, like everybody else, it must be in my own way.” Ms. Cecil writes to do just that.
She lives in North Carolina with her husband, Kevin, and their four dogs. When she isn’t creating her next masterpiece, or traveling the country for book signings, she enjoys spending time with her husband, friends, and of course her fur babies.
“Face life as you find it-defiantly and unafraid.” -Nietzsche
I really enjoyed the conclusion to this story after book one left us with quite a shocker. While it is a short listen, I found myself just as enthralled by the story and eager for more. Marina Barrett did a wonderful job with this book. She had everything down perfectly from the pitch to the accents.
I found this to be quite a creative and entertaining portrayal of the true events. Well thought out and with stellar execution.

When you lose the one and only you have loved for to a horrific murder what is there to live live for? Well let me tell you.
Why revenge ofcourse and that is what Jax will attempt to do. So now to devise a plan and catch a killer and in doing so avenge her death.
This is the heat stopping conclusion to Ripper. Rememebr that book? because if you don't I higly suggest you read it once again.
This book is for mature audiences and contains graphic content in the description of the Jack the Ripper murders.
Amy Cecil is absolutly fabulous just when i thought that this story could not get any better it did and wow did it ever. If I could give two thumbs up plus 10 stars you can be sure that Ms. Cecil would be receving them from me.
Amy, you did it again!! Kept me riveted to my seat until I finished reading the book.
Please be aware that you have to read Ripper https://www.amazon.com/Ripper-Amy-Cec... first as this is the conclusion. This is still a what if, because of course The Ripper murders were never solved.
Amy did such an amazing job of keeping me in suspense. I never hesitate to read one of her books. I absolutely loved this series. ❤️❤️❤️
What an incredible insight into the mind of the Notorious Jack the Ripper. Ms. Cecil has created an intriguing look into the reasons behind the unsolved murders of Whitechapel London. Jax and Marie’s life together was cut short and Jax will stop at nothing to avenge his lost loves life. Will he discover the puppeteer behind it all or will he himself be the Ripper’s next victim. What a dark and twisted tale with a twist you won’t see coming. Bravo Ms. Cecil your creativity never ceases to amaze me.
It was great having Jackson's perspective on the story of Jack the Ripper and his involvement with Marie. He was able to add in the missing pieces of Marie's life and the decisions she made. I felt Ms. Cecil captured the fear and terrible plight of the people living in White Chapel during that time of terror. I was satisfied with the ending.
Amy Cecil sure know how to pull you in from the very first chapter! Marie is dead and their still looking for Jack the Ripper! This book is intriguing, captivating and painfully beautiful!! Will they find Jack the Ripper or will he ellude them again?
Even as someone that did not know much about Jack the Ripper this book captivated me. This book will turn you around every which way. Getting into the mind of the Ripper takes guts and nerves of steel. Amy does this while keeping you guessing. The foreboding feeling flows from the pages into you. I highly recommend Ripper and The Mind of a Killer. It will definitely keep you guessing.
This book had me riveted and I could not put it down. The Mind of a Killer is the 2nd book in the Ripper series and continues right where "Ripper" left off. The story is told from Jax perspective with the killer's thoughts also included. With some twists and turns you won't expect, this novel will have you feverishly turning the pages to see how it all ends. This dark tale was twisted yet creative and I enjoyed Amy Cecil's take on this real life mystery.
The story was narrated by Marina Barrett who did an excellent job. Her voice perfectly suited the characters and she had excellent pace and timing. She really brought the story to life. It was a pleasure listening to her narrate this novel. AudiobookObsession
I just want to say I am in awe of the way Amy Pacifico Cecil can take a true murder mystery and make into her own story. This book is so darn good. If you haven’t read the the first book get it so you can read these two books together. You won’t be able to put them down!!!
❤️❤️❤️❤️ I just absolutely loved this book!! It’s 2 in the Ripper series and honestly it had me on the edge the entire time. If you like a thriller that keeps you guessing this is a must read series. I love how this author took a true mystery and added her own twist. Excellent writing! Excellent story tell!
Audio review: The Mind of a Killer (Ripper Series, Book 2) is the transfix ending to this series. The offshoot of Jack The Ripper murders is riveting and will keep you on the qui vive. Copious slew of surprises to keep you entertained. Absolutely loved this rendition of Jack The Ripper. I just wish this series was longer and continued.
Narrator Marina Barrett distinguished performance felt like you were right there with them as everything is unfolding. Her inflection fit the genre and era perfectly. An authentic english tonality.
This story is a continuation of Ripper. Here you find out who Ripper is as Jax seeks to uncover the killer for his love. I was hoping for Jax to get his HEA and he does but it’s unexpected. If you’ve read Ripper I recommend this.
Amy Cecil has brought the twisted mind of the Ripper to a new level. The spirit of his beloved helps Jax along the way to find the true killer. Find out for yourself if he finds the true Ripper. Be warned, you will not be able to set this book down once you start. A thriller that will leave you breathless as you try to unravel the mystery
Audio review Marie's death brought Jax some links to her past to help him solve the murder. The Ripper is still on the loose, will he be caught? Amy Cecil delivers the goods with this heartfelt emotional read. Marina Barrrett is perfectly perfect as the narrator! Happy listening
A fabulous follow up to Ripper. Amy spun a page turning tale of finding the Ripper by following the evidence and gut feelings with a few twists thrown in. I was guessing till the end who it was and if they would be caught.
The Mind of a Killer Ripper Series, Book 2 By: Amy Cecil Narrated by: Marina Barrett
Thrills and chills, this book will keep you on the edge of your seat. The second book in this series, Cecil focuses on catching Jack the Ripper. Jackson is determined to get his revenge when the love of his life is taken by this serial killer. But will he be able to figure out who it is? Knowing he will be next, there is no time for mistakes, and he has to stay one step ahead! He has something to live for, and time is of the essence. What a thrilling story Cecil has written. Her take on the Ripper murders is fresh and entertaining. She takes us on a wild ride, inside the mind of of a serial killer and it's victims. Every minute is full of danger and suspense and is so worth the ride. I loved every minute!
Marina Barrett is so talented. Listening to her narrate this book is like watching a movie. She has incredible voices, great suspenseful timing and really makes the listen realistic. She gives a wonderful performance.
Jackson is pretty sure he can figure out who Jack the Ripper is, he only needs to think like him. In the conclusion to The Ripper Book that uses factual newspaper articles, releases and more, Cecil gives us a page-turning thriller that takes us into The Mind of a Killer to take down one of the most notorious, undiscovered serial killers in history.
Whereas book one tended to focus on the romantic suspense aspect to the story, book 2 is straight out thriller. You find yourself rooting for Jax, hoping that he can figure out who our murderer is. I loved that Cecil has taken historical evidence and incorporated it into the story while adding her own elements. This was a novella, so it's a super quick read, but the storyline packed a punch as she doesn't hold back on the gruesome reality that people lived. A great read.
Amy Cecil does it again! Her depiction of the story of Jack the Ripper was exceptional, making The Mind of a Killer the perfect conclusion to Ripper. Marie’s murder was brutal and unnerving and left Jax reeling from the loss of his love. Now he is focused on revenge and redemption. This story will have you constantly guessing at the identity of the killer as Jax uses all the means available to him to finally lay his sweet Marie to rest. I highly recommend this 5 star methodical and twisted tale.
Jax is devastated by Marie’s death and he is determined to uncover the truth and ensure that the guilty party is punished. For this to happen he will have to review conflicting witness stories as well as learn more about her past which includes a secret or two that will change the course of his life.
Suspense, twists and intrigue as your heart will break for what both Jax and Marie endured but I enjoyed how it all unfolded. I received a complimentary copy of the audiobook and the performance of the narrator couldn’t have been a better match. 🎧 Audiobook Obsession
This was a very enjoyable follow up! I liked seeing Jax take matters upon himself and plot the Ripper's downfall. I didn't see the twist that this contained coming! That was brilliant and very plausible as was the reason why the murderer was never proclaimed dead. I so wanted to not read anything happening to Jax and that kept me on the edge of my seat. Ms. Cecil has gifted us with another captivating jewel!
The Mind of a Killer by Amy Cecil is a serial killer thriller that I listened to on audio narrated by Marina Barrett. This is the second and final book in the Ripper series.
I really enjoyed Amy’s spin on Jack the Ripper murders. This was a great conclusion to the series. I look forward to reading more of Amy’s work in the future.
Marina did an amazing job on the narration. I absolutely love her voice! She really knows how to bring a story to life.
The men in Marie's life were not to be reckoned with. There's plenty of pain, a sadist, a controller, a revenge, and love. Now that she's gone one must be stopped but which? Jax truly gets his sweetest surprise during a horrendous time. He must lay what remains of his love to rest but can he have her at peace while the murderer is still free to do more damage? Who is the hunger and who is the prey...
I really enjoyed this book by Amy. It was interesting and a short read. I have always been intrigued by the story of Jack the Ripper, and this was just another version of how things could have happened, or maybe people who could have seen this mystery man. It makes you wonder who really was Jack the Ripper.
Well, that was unexpected for sure. I enjoyed it although I felt like it’s a bit short and maybe I wanted more of this story. I really hope the author will write more suspense books as this one was great.
Finally! We got the answers that we all were craving after listening to Ripper. I absolutely loved this book and how it all came to be in the end. Such a bittersweet ending to an amazing pair of books.
1888 When the one he loves has been killed Jackson Kent is determined to find the killer. He looks for help from his old friend Detective Frederick Abberline to find out what the police know. An enjoyable end to the story, but Book one must be read first
I absolutely loved this! The complex characters and intriguing storyline was fascinating. Marina Barrett’s narration was perfect. It was easy to distinguish the characters and she really delivered the dark sinister tone of the Ripper.
This was the perfect ending to this series. Finding out the truth of who killed your loved one. This was a mission for one certain person to reach. But along the way he learns so much more than who the killer is. I absolutely loved this version of this story. Amy did an amazing job with the writing and the characters. It was a page turning book that I absolutely could not put down. I had to know who the killer was and why he did it. Highly recommend reading this series.
This book was almost exactly what I thought it was going to be. I was surprised when I saw how short it was but honestly I’m glad the length is what it is. The pacing was done really well and not a lot of detail was concentrated on this book, which worked out perfectly. It was direct and straight to the point. This caused a very successful spin off. I am really glad we got this book as it provided some closure for Jackson. There were still just a couple of things that didn’t quite push it to a 5 star. One was again, the setting. While this book felt a lot closer, it was still hard to imagine the surroundings and picture the scenes. There was also a very convenient character introduction that just seemed a little cliché. It did make me happy, because it gave Jackson what he needed but it seems awfully convenient. Other than that the story was good and it gave that little extra.
NARRATION
NOTE: Narration does not affect the rating of the story.
I understand why the same narrator was kept and she did a fantastic job with the first book, but I wish it would have been a different narrator. Marie is no longer telling this story and instead I wish a male narrator was used to tell Jackson’s events in this book. Again, nothing against her as she did a fantastic job, I just felt like it would have made more sense to have a male narrator for this. I still really enjoyed this narration and would definitely recommend it.
