February 5, 2021I have pretty “it’s complicated” feelings on this one. I didn’t love it, but I didn’t not like it either. Similarly to the other books I have a lot I love about them but I always have a couple issues too. With this one it wasn’t as in your face as the others with moralizing, but it got a little too corny for my liking at times, that’s just personal preference. I’m a big fan of friends to lovers so that was a plus, but I didn’t like how when we got to the lovers portion there was a solid 50 pages where any other plot was just forgotten and it was just romance, nothing else. The plot itself I think was kind of strange, but mostly I cared about the romance anyways. You could definitely see their chemistry. I know that seems like I should’ve liked the 50 pages of straight romance but the external plot helps to move things along so it just kind of went 0-100 real fast. I am looking forward to more in the series!

Yayy!!! My favorite bookish charming wolf pack is back! They are back in town with another funny, swoon, sweet, entertaining journey!
What we have in our menu:
Noah: A nerd, emotional, smart, caring, lovable hero we may easily empathize with.
Finally good hearted, sexual assault survivor sweet, likable heroine Alexis( my main problem about the first two books was my unbearable urge to punch the annoying heroines against their faces and punish them for acting like obnoxious brats and treating those lovely heroes unfairly ! I visualized throwing rotten eggs to second book’s irritating heroine Liv’s face who is unfortunately the best friend of Alexis)
A vengeful terrifying man-eater cat named Beefcake who is soul twin of the hissing cat at the Pet Sematary. Poor Noah and Russian have been punished by his vicious attacks.
Sweetest friends to lovers theme ( I think Noah and Alexis were adorable couple from the beginning and thankfully they didn’t disappoint me at the angst parts of the book.)
Lots of resentments, daddy issues.
So much enjoyable parts with boys who were choreographing a special dance for Mack and Liv’s wedding and having first massage experiments! ( when Russian wore three sizes smaller rob, wrapping up a towel around his head and telling them he’s smelling like flowers, I just dropped my iPad from my hands and laughed at least ten minutes till my stomach hurt! )
Did I tell you there were so many laugh out loud, enjoyable Russian moments at this book! And yes, at some parts he stole the show! He definitely earned his own book and after reading the dramatic ending about his part of the story, I feel like we’re so close to get it. (Colton and Gretchen are also new candidates of the next sequel but I’m crossing my fingers firmly to get the Russian sequel i have been waiting for so long🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻)
Overall: I loved how both Noah and Alexis handled their family issues and learned forgiveness. I adored both of the characters and their intense, loyal bounding. And it was lovely to spend more time with my all time favorite book boyfriends. I think I loved this book more than the previous ones so I’m giving 4.5 stars and rounding them up to 5! I had incredible time and I’m looking forward to read the fourth book of the series sooner.

Alexis Carlisle, owner of the cat café, ToeBeans, and longtime friend, Noah, have been circling each other for...pretty much forever.
Alexis shot to fame last year when she added her #metoo voice against a celebrity chef - and since then business has been booming.
Women from all over are coming in to share their stories, join in a safe-space yoga class and so on.
Alexis approaches one particularly forlorn woman and is hit with a surprise of a lifetime. Her dad is dying.
Thirty years without a father in her life, only to find out via one of his "real" children that he's in need of a kidney.
Reeling from that emotional upheaval, Alexis is hit right and left from people wanting to close her cat café.
Meanwhile, Noah....after sitting by the sidelines for years, has decided that he cannot take it any longer. He has to give their relationship a shot.
But making that decision and actually going through with it? Two entirely different things.
Luckily, the Bromance Book Club is waiting in the wings - ready to help one of their members out.
So.
I definitely liked this one WAAAAY more than book 2 but not as much as book 1.
I loved the easy-going push-and-pull from Alexis and Noah. They had such a natural relationship and it was fun to see them grow closer.
Annnd, most of the annoying parts from book 2 (*coughcough* LIV) were minimized (but seriously, I can't be the only one who was sooo freaking frustrated with her by the third chapter.
I adored the Russian in this one - he was an absolute charmer and was always right there when the book needed a pick-me-up..
I'm really excited for book 4 - and I'm crossing my fingers for either the Russian's story OR branching out to LGBTQ+. I think that would be so cool to read!

this is a super cute, easy breezy story. its very much consistent with the previous two books of the series, so readers should know exactly what they are gonna get when the pick this up.
i was really excited for a ‘friends to lovers’ story. its one of my fave tropes because it so realistic. and for me, the best part of a friends to lovers story is the buildup, the tension, the chemistry. and so much of that is missing from this story. i wanted to see more of alexis and noah interacting as friends, but that aspect of their relationship feels like more of a tell rather than a show.
i think the story focuses so much on both alexis and noahs own individual trials and issues, creating their own character development, that precious page time is lost for focusing on their development as a couple together. which, for a romance story, is a massive shame.
also, some personal biases towards the subplot made a large part of alexis’ story not sit well with me. so theres that.
but i do think fans of this series, as well as those who enjoy quick, uncomplicated romance stories, will like this. it is a cute story, but my own personal preferences made me rethink how i felt about this overall.

Lyssa Kay Adams served us in this one. It had everything I was expecting. Humour and tenderness, swoonworthy scenes as well as parts that had me choked up. The day LKA announces the end of this series will be a dark day indeed.
Alexis shot to fame when she came forward as a victim of a celebrity chef's sexual harassment. Her cat cafe has since become a safe haven for other women. Her life is once again changed when a woman comes to her cafe claiming to be her sister.
Noah, computer genius and former ‘hacktavist’, is Alexis's best friend. They are inseparable. But Noah is struggling to hide the fact that he is utterly in love with her. And so he turns to his friends in The Bromance Book Club for help him out of the friend zone.
These books warm my heart from start to finish. The writing was as I expected: easy to gobble up in one sitting!
I know the much loved enemies-to-lovers trope has been crowned the best all tropes. I strongly disagree. Friends to lovers is the superior trope. And no, I don't take criticism on this point 😇
The miscommunication, the yearning, the tension — this trope never disappoints me.
Noah and Alexis were adorable to the max.
I really loved Alexis. She's really such a lovely person and I prefer her as our female lead to both Thea and Liv from the previous books. She's strong and kind and has a huge heart. There were times her empathy for others made me want to scream at her. But I had to remind myself that though I personally would make different decisions, the calls she made were consistent with her character and I came to understand her better.
Noah takes the trophy for Most Swoon-Worthy. This adorable nerd was just too much for my heart to handle. I need a Noah asap.
I lived for every scene where the book club boys were together. Be it them giving Noah advice and helping him with his friend zone problem or getting together to help plan and organize Mack's wedding.
There were scenes with these guys that had me laughing so bad I was almost on the floor. I'm so glad I wasn't reading this book in public! 😅
The brotherhood, the love they have for each other, their willingness to do anything to help the other out, their determination to learn and grow from books — is what makes this series special.
I have said this before and I'll say it again: Lyssa Kay Adams could write another 20 books of this series and I'd be okay with that.
In fact how about she just never stop? It could be like Law and Order ((obviously I'm deluding myself here, but a girl can dream 😉)).

“I love how they can make us cheer for pretty much any character if we just understand why they’re doing something. We’ll let them get away with pretty much anything—including pushing away the woman they desperately want—if they have a strong motivation. The why behind their actions.”

While I didn't dislike this book, I have to admit that I did find it to be just a smidge underwhelming? I had a pleasant enough time working my way through it, but neither this one nor the previous installment have really lived up to how much I loved the first book and I'm pretty bummed about it, tbh. I will still 100% be reading the next book in the series though because I am SO interested in the character that it is going to follow, so hopefully that one will work better for me! TL;DR: this was fine, but not a favorite for me.

I’m freaking out because that’s like TWO of my favorite male names combined together.
Give that to a ruggedly bearded handsome face; two beautiful eyes behind a pair of nerdy glasses; a great—geeky shirt, black leather jacket wearing—body, and a computer genius brain . . . I’M A GONER.
🚨 I suddenly can’t tell what’s ✦ S P O I L E R S ✦ and what’s not, so here’s your warning. 🚨
❥ The Friends to LoversEpic Failure
I adored the heck out of Noah and Alexis’ friendship. They were natural with each other. Noah was caring and attentive. Loved it especially when Alexis was in distress and he would come over and just be like, “Talk to me,” or “Wanna talk about it?” and offer her support and comfort.
Now, the lovers thing I’m not really sure. I didn’t like how they started the relationship. Alexis was messed up in the head about something, and she come on to Noah and kissed him. Then when he stopped it to make sure she was okay with going down that road with him, she took that as him rejecting her. Wow, jumping to conclusion much?
Not only that, later in the book she doubted him AGAIN when he was accused of hacking and leaking private information from some companies. Maybe I’m being too harsh on her, but I feel like Noah was treated rather unfairly. Thank goodness, they eventually apologized and had adult conversations with each other.
❥ The KIDNEY & KAREN Drama
Thirty one years of growing up without a father, then out of nowhere a woman appeared declaring to be her sister and telling Alexis that her father was dying and in need of a kidney transplant . . .
I did not like this subplot AT ALL. I was so riled up about it to the point where it almost DESTROYED the book for me. It just felt tacky and didn’t seem genuine. Am I the only one who was ticked off by Cindi?
Granted if I were in her situation, I’d do anything to save my dad too. But urgh, the NERVE to just show up unannounced, drop a bomb, and not tell her family about the visit beforehand either?! Double-you-tee-eff?!
Alas, the stereotypical Karen . . .
Coming to bother Alexis with her petty little complaints. My sympathy for all the Karens in the world. The disrespect, to be perpetually represented as such. SMH. I appreciated what she did to Alexis’ character development.
But was it really necessary? On top of all the other drama?! Cause this book got lots of ‘em.
❥ ToeBeans & The Bromance Bros
Alexis’ café, the ultimate sanctuary for sexual harassment survivors. I wasn’t a fan of the “Operation Take Down Predators” plotline in the previous book, but I really liked what the author did this time by discussing about the healing process for the survivors and building a community that helped women. It was really nice and encouraging.
The guys at the Bromance Book Club were still as hilarious as ever. Mack was having the wedding of his dreams, and the brothers were all helping with the preparations. They were being cool and giving Noah advice too on his relationship with Alexis. But most importantly, them going to a massage treatment together for the first time will go down as one of the funniest moments in the BBC history.
Finally, what do we think of The Russian? I’m happy for him that he’ll get his own book. He’s an amazing SUPPORTING character, and I always look forward to his one liner jokes. However, I’m apprehensive about him being a main character. On the other hand, I’m also excited to know his story. Let’s hope LKA does him justice with his Russian background!
So, what’s my verdict after all that long talk? Well, I liked Crazy Stupid Bromance more than Undercover Bromance but not as much as I loved The Bromance Book Club. Also, I think this book had too many subplots, but as far as quick, lighthearted, entertaining, sweet, corny, and weird white feminism go, this book served. That said, if that’s what you’re looking for, then I think you should read it.

Loved, loved, loved it!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
By far the best of the series!
Welcome to book three of the Bromance series. A successful group of men (including professional athletes and singers to name a few) get together at their own book club to read and discuss romance novels. (Quite a twist from your normal man-cave, right?) The ultimate goal being to keep their relationships with their wives/girlfriends strong and healthy.
The primary focus of this latest addition is on Noah and Alexis. These two have been wallowing in the “friend zone” for over a year. Can the Bromance book club help Noah to break out and claim the woman he loves? Does Alexis feel the same way too? Or is she content with her best friend remaining just that?
This book has everything you could possibly want in your rom-com. A tender love story combined with plenty of humor. Lyssa Kay Adams achieved the perfect balance with both.
Without a doubt this was one of my favorite reads this year and I can’t wait for this author's next release. Who will the Bromance Book Club men be helping in the pursuit of true love next?

This book has everything you could possibly want in your rom-com. A tender love story combined with plenty of humor. Lyssa Kay Adams achieved the perfect balance with both.
Without a doubt this was one of my favorite reads this year and I can’t wait for this author's next release. Who will the Bromance Book Club men be helping in the pursuit of true love next?

This novel is filled with hysterical laughter, friendship, love and lots of swoonworthy moments sure to make you smile. What makes “Crazy Stupid Bromance” better than its predecessors “The Bromance Book Club” and “Undercover Bromance” is that it feels like real life and is a book you can totally immerse yourself in.
Here we have Alexis Carlisle, owner of the ToeBeans cafe whose life has taken quite the turn since we last saw her in “Undercover Bromance” and gorgeous, geeky Noah who Alexis met as a result of that time in her life. The best of friends, these two exchange witty banter every single day.
When that spark finally ignites, all bets are off!
The chemistry between these two is OFF the FREAKING CHARTS much to the dismay of Alexis’ cat Beefcake who loves torturing Noah (which admittedly made the cat lover in me laugh quite wickedly!). Way to go Beefcake!!

This friends to lovers romance between alexis and noah was absolutely adorable I genuinely loved them together so much and I think the author did a really brillant job of convincing me of the depth of their friendship and their romantic chemistry (even though the friendship portions don't get much page time). This book also improved upon some of the elements that I felt were sorely missed in the second installment, the tone of this one felt very consistent and balanced the funny moments with the emotional depth really well, in addition to providing the book club elements and the hilarious book club brunches that I loved so much in book one. There's really alot to like about this one as I feel that Adams creates a really fun friend group and alexis and noah's connection is a delight!
However I do have a few complaints, first I think that the whole organ donation subplot about Alexis' family was interesting but I definitely felt like it took up way more space in the novel that could have gone to the romance and giving us more scenes between the couple. Also I wanted more from the wedding planning subplot with Mack because the group dynamics in the wedding planning scenes were so so fun and the organ donation subplot was not fun...for obvious reasons. Also I wish the feminism in this book was a bit more nuanced, it's wonderful to imagine men having these feminist convos with one another but I wanted to feel like their feminism is fueled by more than their seemingly very surface level understanding of what feminism is based off a few romance novels, also it lacks intersectionality.
despite those gripes it was a fun time in general, a tiny bit angsty and just overall a nice friends-to-lovers romp

Die Geschichte von Noah und Alexis - Erst beste Freunde, dann Liebende. Es war durchaus schön, hatte aber auch unnötige Dramatik und Längen.
Am besten hat mir eigentlich dieser geheime Buchclub gefallen bzw. die Idee dahinter und die Teilnehmer. Wie die Jungs miteinander umgehen und sich manchmal kabbeln, ist einfach herrlich. Ich mochte den Humor.
Die Liebesgeschichte war schön, hat mich aber dennoch nicht wirklich berührt. Ich kann nicht sagen, woran das gelegen hat, aber so richtig mitgefühlt habe ich nicht.
Trotzdem aber ein gutes Buch bzw. ein guter Band dieser Reihe, der mir auch besser gefallen hat als die beiden Vorgänger.

i’m a little upset i didn’t enjoy this one as much as the other two. i completely LOVED the first and second book, and i really fell for noah the moment he was described as wearing a black leather jacket. and then he was described as a computer hacker with glasses and wearing a pokemon shirt. i was SOLD. my expectations were high. my biggest issue is that i felt like i didn’t meet noah and alexis enough as individuals and as a couple. nonetheless it was a quick and fun read. sweet, corny, and cute in many ways, the bromance book club has become one of my favorite fictional contemporary gangs. overall though lyssa kay adams has definitely become a favorite and i’m excited to see what she will write in the future.

I needed the cuteness and the silliness that only those dorks could provide!
This was really sweet and adorable. It didn’t have the same magic as the first book, but it was definitely better than the second one. The whole series is such a fun time. It’s simple and kinda basic, but still so enjoyable and cute. The guys in the bromance book club are just so freakin hilarious? They might be the main reason I’m still reading this series. Regarding the romance, it’s cute, but I felt like there was so much telling instead of showing when it comes to their relationship and their feelings. And the kidney transplant part really took a huge part of the overall plot. I just didn’t like that it took over the main story. I don’t why, the whole situation just didn’t feel okay with me. Despite those few issues, this is still a fun cute easy read.
Also, can I say that I couldn’t relate more here! Like same Malcom same!!

So, the heroine of this book owns a cat cafe, and it's a friends to lovers romance... I just knew this would be a great read. And it was! I've enjoyed all the 'Bromance Book Club' books and this was no exception. Noah and Alexis story was fantastic.
Alexis is a cafe owner and a sexual assault survivor. She uses her cafe to help other survivors, and though she's worked hard to move on from her assault, she's not really dated. She has a best friend named Noah that is a computer whiz. It's pretty obvious that they're attracted to one another, but they keep it as friends only. They never miss a day of talking or texting and see each other most days, but never have taken that step forward.
Noah and Alexis had so much chemistry, but above all that they had the most solid friendship. I think that was the scariest thing for the both of them- the thought of it not working out and losing their best friend. I can imagine that's not an easy hurdle to jump but when these two finally got together, I was so dang happy. And I especially loved how the cat started to like Noah by the end ;)
One of the things I love most about this book is how they talk about romance books. In the real world, reading romance isn't always looked upon the same way as reading other genres, but there are so many great and important things from this beloved genre. We all read it for THE JOURNEY. I couldn't have said it better myself.
The books in this series are so fun and enjoyable but also talk about important topics. I love Lyssa Kay Adams writing so much and I'm glad this series is continuing. I'm super excited to get to The Russian's story! The first two books he was joked about a ton, but this book you see a different side to him and I can't wait!
If you're looking for an emotional, sweet, and steamy friends to lovers romance give this one a go! And if you haven't started The Bromance Book Club series, I can't recommend it enough!

This book was just so hard to get through. I didn't love the romance and I really didn't care for the family drama. Alexis and Noah have been best friends for over a year, but they both secretly like each other. I feel like there wasn't really a development of their romance. They finally talked to each other and then they were together and happy. I would have liked more development of the romance and not just an instant together plot. There was, though, a third act breakup that was slightly frustrating as well.
As for the family plot, I really didn't care for it. I didn't love how they treated Alexis and I didn't really care to see how that whole plot lien was going to resolve. I really enjoyed book one, but books two and three were big misses for me. I don't know if I'll pick up the fourth book.

I really liked this one! But found family is a trope I adore and this whole book fit that so well. Friends to lovers isn’t normally my favorite but this one just worked for me. The parts with Beefcake the cat were hilarious, and the group scenes with the men as well. But mostly, I felt this book was great because of all the parts with Alexis getting to know her family and Noah overcoming his grief from his dads death. I was glad to read a romance novel that was more than just the love story, it made it so much better.

This is the kind of friends to lovers story I like. The characters in this have been friends only for a year or so, and as adults, with it always feeling like the timing isn’t right. And it’s obvious they love each other to everyone but them. I really liked their dynamic. I felt they learned from each other, were supportive of each other, and complimented each other well.
This book returned to a lot of the things I loved about the first book in this series. I will say that I do think the author tries to push too many issues into one book at a time. This happened in book 2 and was completely distracting from the story, and didn’t flow. That element was still present here but it did feel more organic this time. There are elements of this series that are almost a little bit too on the nose and self aware when it comes to references by the characters to the romance genre. I’ll likely continue to read this series for characters that interest me, but not every single installment.

I only vaguely remember this book so this review is going to be of iffy quality...but really... all of mine are so it's okay.
So, what's this book about?

So far, this one is my middle favorite. Book One was my favorite and is one of my all-time favorite books ever. Book two was a disappointment compared to it. After book two, I didn't have super high hope but, fortunately, I was not disappointed.
Although it didn't come close to the first book, I still enjoyed it. It picked up on Alexis and Nick's relationship that had briefly hinted at in the previous books.
Like the second book, it was more of an ordinary romance novel which is okay. I was just hoping for the same creativity that was shown in book one.
I also would have liked to see Alexis and Nick earlier in her journey, if that makes sense. The story takes place when Alexis is already pretty confident and I personally would have liked to see her journey from fearful to the more confident Alexis she becomes.
Overall, this latest installation of the Bromance Book Club series was better than the previous one bu not at good as the first. Nonetheless, I enjoyed it.

This was so close to being a 4.5 or 5 star book, because the actual romance bit of this book was one of my favorite friends-to-lovers stories I've ever read. I really loved the way most of that relationship unfolded and I LOVED how Noah & Alexis developed their feelings & intimacy together. The struggle I have with this book is that it also has an external family conflict that I think was just too angsty for my tastes and even beyond the angst factor, I just don't think the plot had enough room for both the romantic and family conflicts to coexist. I think if Candi had just sought out Alexis for her own sake, alongside Alexis' ongoing healing from her own past, that would have been plenty of conflict & the book wouldn't feel quite so whiplashed or overstuffed in places. Still, like I said, I truly did love the romance piece of this, and also.. there are cats.

Oh my, hot, steamy Diggity slap!! My eyes were rolling, and they got quite the workout while reading this one!
Crazy Stupid Bromance is the third book in the Bromance Book Club and here it's all about Alexis and Noah and their heartwarming relationship. Alexis is settling into a quieter life after the events in the second book with her best friend Noah when she learns she has a sister, and her birth father needs a transplant. Feeling vulnerable, she leans on her friendship with Noah, and he treads lightly not to rock that heartwarming, caring bond between them. The tension rises between them, and I was rooting along with bromance club for these friends to become lovers.
The Bromance has been the highlight of the stories for me, and I love all the feminist male members of the club. The dynamics between them are hilarious and awkward, and I loved how we see those expected gender roles switched, and there is no male masculinity going on here. However, at times it felt a little forced like it was becoming more a point that men can be like women, and it became a little cringy awkward and felt like a bit too much information at times.
There are a few subplots going on here, and the romance heats up and overwhelms the story. I couldn't control my eyes from rolling and I started to skim over some of the heated, steamy parts that felt like it went on for chapters. I am a dark reader who can be picky at times and the serious themes of the story lost steam and miss the mark for me. Overall this was an ok read for me, and I enjoyed the fun and entertainment of the story.

A book within a book, sweet and steamy!
I eagerly picked up the second in the series, “Undercover Bromance” and was disappointed.
Although a second member of the club, was trying to get his gal, it didn’t have the “book within a book” or as much time spent in meetings, as the focus was a sexual harassment case, instead of the book club.
It had lost the lighthearted fun, and most of the charm.
However, the result of the sexual harassment case was a survivor opening Toebeans Cat Cafe, setting up book #3..With friends Alexa and Noah, figuring out if they should remain in the “friend zone” or take a chance on love. 💖
Of course, Maine Coon rescue cat Beefcake is going to want his say! 😾
But, we spend very LITTLE time in the cat cafe, and not one single adoption event even occurred!
I expected at least some love connections involving coffee drinkers and kitties! 😽
I feel duped!!
However, despite the story not delivering what was expected, #3 did offer up a couple of chapters from the romance book that Noah will use as HIS guide, a Groomzilla in Mack who has been planning his wedding to Liv since the last book, and more sweet and STEAMY moments!
The latest couple in this group of friends, navigate the push and pull of all great romance books until we get the final “grand gesture” those “Fabio” books REQUIRE!
Volume 3 does tackle another tough subject as a sub plot, but it also brings back more of the “fun” from Volume 1. But, I think the novelty has worn off..

However, despite the story not delivering what was expected, #3 did offer up a couple of chapters from the romance book that Noah will use as HIS guide, a Groomzilla in Mack who has been planning his wedding to Liv since the last book, and more sweet and STEAMY moments!
The latest couple in this group of friends, navigate the push and pull of all great romance books until we get the final “grand gesture” those “Fabio” books REQUIRE!
Volume 3 does tackle another tough subject as a sub plot, but it also brings back more of the “fun” from Volume 1. But, I think the novelty has worn off..

This was another fun and addictive read that had me laughing out loud and smiling almost all the way through. I love the characters and the insight into why they do what they do. I find that so refreshing seeing the men vulnerable and so in tune with their feelings and emotions. This was another great edition to the series! Can’t wait for the next one!

Alexis Carlisle owns a cat café called ToeBeans and it skyrocketed in popularity when she stepped forward six months ago and accused former celebrity chef Royce Preston of sexual harassment. She and her friends connected to The Bromance Book Club helped to expose him. Noah Logan, Braden Mack’s tech expert, also helped and became a trusted and best friend to Alexis over the next months during the fallout. Their friendship is sacred between the two but Noah is now struggling with feelings far beyond the friend zone. Oh, and so is Alexis.

I was happy to see that Noah was at the center of this story as I found him intriguing in the last book, an air of mystery surrounding him. My instincts were right as he has a complicated past as a “hacktivist” dating back to his teenage years. He’s now reformed and owns a lucrative security company. I loved his friendship with Alexis as there was something endearing about it, treasured by both of them. Their concern about losing all of this by moving into an intimate relationship was well justified. Meanwhile, Alexis is facing another life changing challenge when she learns the identity of her father (she was raised by her now deceased single mother) and is faced with a host of family she never knew or wanted to know. This threatens to become a wedge between her and Noah as his suspicions and past become significant.

I continue to love the narrator for this series as his female voices sound normal but he nails the men in The Bromance Book Club. You can hear all that wit and sarcasm and I’ve got strong images of them all.
the bottom line…
This is one of the best friends-to-lovers stories I’ve read in a long time. Alexis and Noah are well developed characters who you can’t help admiring and liking. Their journey to romance was compelling enough but the outside pressures from both of their families made it even more interesting. I’m not a fan of communication issues used as a device for conflict but here it was done well as both of them were committed to resolving them. And, The Bromance Book Club rises to the occasion again, bringing humor and “wisdom” to the mix. This story is special and my most favorite in the series to date.

Well this was an absolute DELIGHT to read! I was already loving the series but this is definitely my favorite yet, and I breezed through it in a day! Crazy Stupid Bromance is a friends to lovers story that (unsurprisingly) includes some great meta commentary on the romance genre, is unabashedly feminist, and tackles toxic masculinity and unaddressed anger. It's also an interesting blend of laugh-out-loud funny with adorable banter, plus a meaty look working through conflict and personal trauma to make a relationship work.
This one follows computer genius Noah and his best friend Alexis who runs a cat cafe and works with victims of sexual violence. There is a clear attraction, but neither of them is willing to risk their friendship to try for more. At first that is. I just thoroughly enjoyed this and became really invested in the story of the two characters. They're both dealing with family issues as well, but we see how that informs the ways they relate to each other also, in both good and bad ways. AND the steamy scenes in this book were doing so much emotional and relational work for the character development! It's not super often that I feel emotionally invested in how a sex scene is bringing a couple together and creating true intimacy beyond just the physical, but I absolutely felt that here. Which to me is a testament to the skill with which the author wrote in emotional beats. So basically I'm a fan and absolutely loved this book! I think this was my favorite in this series so far. And yet, I think I'm not going to continue the series. I don't have the patience for them.
I was so excited about the friends-to-lovers story. It's one of my favorite tropes in romance novels. And honestly, the romance part was pretty good. I liked the two main characters, Alexis and Noah, and liked their friendship. I was rooting for them all the way.
If only the story would have just focused on their romance instead of going into a bunch of other convoluted story tropes as well.
As far as couples in this series go, Alexis and Noah were my favorite. They were two genuinely nice, interesting people. But dear God, Alexis spent a good portion of this book being naive to the point of losing brain cells!
A random woman tells Alexis that they're related and that her absentee dad, who Alexis has never met, but who's known about her for years, now needs a kidney, and Alexis could be the one to save his life. And Alexis doesn't even stop to question it! She asks for no proof of what they're saying. She doesn't investigate her supposed father (Noah has to do it because she can't be bothered), she doesn't even ask for DNA evidence that she is, in fact, related to these people. She takes one day to process, and is ready to freely give an internal organ!
Then that same family has the nerve to treat Alexis like trash? The woman who is kindly giving her kidney to a man that doesn't deserve it, and whom she doesn't even know?
The author was clearly trying to send the message that organ donations are good things, and I get it. She's right. Donations save lives. I just couldn't' deal with it. The entire medical drama portion of this book annoyed me because it felt like borderline coercion. Imagine only making contact with your long lost family member when you happen to need an organ donation from them. I was hoping the entire time that Alexis would tell that entire family to fuck off and leave her, and her kidneys, alone. But then, maybe I'm just a horrible person?
Now let's talk about the book club. In general, I like the book club guys. They're a funny bunch, for the most part. The scene at the spa had me laughing out loud. But, I also have so many problems with the guys. First, they're extremely preachy. They didn't even seem like real human beings at times. They were versions of men than women want to read about. They say all the things women would want men to say and do all the things women would like men to do. Which, to be fair, books don't have to be realistic, and who doesn't like an idealized version of the world?
The boys were feminists to the core and they won't let you forget it. And that brings me to one other problem I had. Like in the previous two books, everything is the man's fault. Everyone cheered Alexis for making her move on Noah, but when Noah stopped to make sure that it was consensual and that Alexis wasn't just doing this because she'd been having a stressful day and he didn't want to feel used by her, all the guys call Noah an idiot for making her feel rejected! Then, they scold him for not confessing his feelings right away (Alexis didn't verbally confess either, mind you), and for not having the right words, and not knowing how to deal with the complex emotions he's feeling! WTF!
Lastly, can The Russian please be a real character? I've talked about this when I reviewed the previous novels. The man is a caricature created for comedic relief, and it's not that funny. They don't even refer to him by his name, he's just The Russian! Imagine if he were Indian or Nigerian and they only referred to him by his country of origin, gave him an empty yet comically exaggerated personality, made him the butt of all the jokes, and made it seem like he was less intelligent than everyone else. That'd be controversial, no? But I guess it's funny because he's white?
In the end, I have to admit, I actually liked the romance portion of the book. Everything else ranged from meh to annoying. I don't think this series is for me. If there are more books, which I don't doubt there will be, I won't be reading them.

How good is the third book in Lyssa Kay Adams' Bromance Book Club series? Well, I stayed up until 2:30am reading it last night despite the fact that I have to write three different articles for work today and I DON'T EVEN CARE. I'D DO IT AGAIN. WHEN I STAN, I STAN HARD.
Admittedly I was a tad nervous going into this book because we knew only cursory things about both Alexis and Noah from the previous novels, which can be both a blessing and a curse. On top of that, friends-to-lovers stories can be very hit or miss for me; often I don't believe the couple's chemistry, or an author dives into the romance too quickly and the friendship doesn't seem realistic enough.
Luckily, if I could describe one word for Crazy Stupid Bromance, it would be grounded. Adams knew her all of her characters so well that they seemed natural from the get-go. The book had the perfect amount of serious topics in the plot while still unpacking every character's background. She showed the best of the friends-to-lovers trope and why so many people adore it. And as always, the feminist commentary from the Bromance Book Clubs dudes was ON POINT.
To be honest, while I really enjoyed Undercover Bromance, I loved this one even more. And for all the folks who want authors to bring the steam...whew, you're in for some hot shit.
