I resent how Jax is just... forgiven and rewarded for how awful he's been. There's no redemption or apology or anything from him in regards to the revenge porn or ANYTHING, yet, he gets to have sex with Juliet first. What kind of shoddy romance is that? The worst possible guy gets the first sex scene? And then we come to find out Smith feels it's INTEGRAL that Jax is a third participant in him being intimate with Juliet or it's not gonnna work? Then we have Juliet argue with and confront Patrick over jealousy ?

So, let me get this straight.

Jax can threaten, manhandle, force, blackmail, spread revenge porn, and just all around be an asshole, but, because Juliet is strangely hot for him, everything is tossed out the window and he's welcomed into the fold, but Patrick, whose only real flaw is some jealousy that only manifests as glares and some snide remarks, is given an intense verbal lashing and regarded with anger as if he committed some sin and is made to come to heel like a kicked dog????

Juliet calls Patrick's jealousy "toxic" but Jax literally doing horrible shit is not considered toxic????

Honestly, fuck this author's logic. It's gross.

Jax shouldn't be in the harem without SO much more effort put in and the bastard should NOT have gotten the first sex scene.

Ace should have. He had the redemption, he's had the relationship talks, he's the one she has the best relationship with. But no. Because Jax is the moody asshole, he wins. I fucking HATE that every goddamn romance wants the irredeemable asshole to win.

Uh, also, Jax's energy is compared to that of rapist Kareem. You never want that comparison. Like, even the author going "Jax would never force like Kareem" Jax is still okay with a shitload of the same predatory, forceful behavior as a rapist, so he's not that much better. How often do good people get compared to rapists in any sense? They don't.

Also, I hate the implication that Juliet has to agreed to a threesome with Jax and Smith in order to "not lose" Smith.

No one should feel obligated to engage in sexual activities they don't wish to in order to retain their romantic partner. Your partner is not owed sex and their sexual satisfaction should not be held in higher esteem than yours and it's 1000% not more important than you feeling comfortable with what you're doing with your body.

Your comfort > anyone's sexual desires.

Sure, the author has it be that in actually Juliet WANTED this, but, it wasn't executed properly. For a girl so resistant to the idea, how fast it happened and how Juliet and Smith never talked about their misunderstanding or anything really just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Also, again, Jax is fucking awful and it makes me feel gross to think that Juliet will always have to put up with him because Smith is too fucking co-dependent on his best friend to do anything, even have sex with a girl, without him.

We also have dedicated so little time to the treasure hunt and intrigue of it all that whatever praise I once held for it in previous titles is long gone.

What a fucking disappointment. I'm angry with this series now.

You know how some of the books in a series you just find yourself getting annoyed at. That was how I felt with Savages which is Book #3 in the Pawns of Patience series by Cassie James. As readers of this series know we have Juliet in a relationship with Smith but over the last few books she has shown interest in the other guys including Patrick, Ace, and Jax. In Book #3 Juliet's aunty Pearl is dying which means that Juliet soon will be the last Lexington standing and is in line to inherit everything included with the Lexington Estate which will make her one of the most powerful females in Patience. The part that annoyed me in this book is that Juliet loves all the guys including Jax yet she keeps pussy-footing around and it's also like the guys can't accept that she wants all of them as they don't want to share except of course Smith and Jax. Then there's Juliet's relationship with Jax where they act like they totally hate each other and then have these quick vicious hook-ups throughout the book. It's like make up your freaking mind folks. Then, of course, we had Jake come back - he was her friend from her previous life when she was Jessica along with the arrival of her friend’s older brother – Kareem who both want a piece of Juliet as well. The cliffhanger ending of this book was exciting as she exclaimed she knew where Hollis's treasure was, which has been an occurring theme since Book #1 as people have been trying to find it for years since Hollis's death and it had become a bit of an urban legend in the smalltown of Patience. I am now looking forward to reading Book #4 to see how the Pawns of Patience series concludes.

This was one was okay. It ends in a good note, but with a cliffy to the

Juliet is still with the three boyfriends. There is a MFM scene with two of her boyfriends. Then there I a scene with one of her friend's brothers where he does not understand the word "NO". I know it is not her friend's fault how her brother behaves, but I felt that the friend knew how her brother was and she still had him around. I am not sure about that friendship anyway. I think the author is forcing this new friendship instead of focusing on the friendship with Sadie, Smith's sister.

The third book ends where the second book ended and how we found out that Cece was the killer.

We learn a little bit more about Jax and why he treated Juliet the way he did in the first two books. I liked how Jax does do everything that Juliet asks. We also find out more about Jax and his relationship with his father.

I will read book 4. I like this author. I liked this book, but I did not love it. Juliet spent most of her time staying with her aunt who is dying. The boys visit, but since Juliet was home most of the summer, what were the guys doing??? I would have liked to read about that. Was there OW drama? By the way there is no OW drama in this book. All 4 of the boyfriends are committed to Juliet.

Juliet mentioned that Patrick still likes to flirt, but she never confronts him about it and I would have liked her to question him. I don't know where the author is going with the story of Juliet and the boyfriends.

Bottom line. I am in love with all these RH bully romances. I am glad I found Cassie James. I think overall she is writing a nice RH story. I love that Juliet/Jessica who grew up poor and then found out that she is an heir to a fortune. I know people are whining about the whole poor girl turns rich storyline, but I love those plots!!!

Cassie you have done it once again!!

This was another page turner from the start. I love Cassie's way of writting she always keeps you interested to know what happens next. You come across some series where the author drags out the story and then there's author's like Cassie who continue to write in a way that keeps you coming back for that next book in the series. In this book Jules gets closer to some of her boyfriends as well as coming into issues between the group of them and then that cliffhanger was like finally after all this time Juliet finds out where Hollis's treasure is but we must wait.

Slow burn with a twist

Okay so it’s book 3 or a series and it’s starting to heat up. I’ve been surprised a few times in this series so far and I have to say I’m loving the treasure side of it all. I’m confused about what’s going to happen next and since it’s slow burn I’m still not 100% sure if all the guys are going to end up in the harem. There are more things I can say but I’m going to add them to my final review.

Savages is easily my favorite book in this series, though it’s not without its faults. I’m a little disappointed that it took two books to get to this point, and now there’s only one left. Juliet is taking her rightful place in Patience, working on her romantic relationships with the guys, and dealing with a plotline that I could actually follow. It still dragged at times, and I’m not sure I actually like all of the guys, but I enjoyed reading this.

The story picks up the morning after prom. Juliet had to leave early after Pearl was taken to the hospital. She insists on bringing her aunt home even though Pearl is now at the point where she needs round the clock care. Juliet spends most of her time at her aunt’s bedside, though Pearl does insist she continue to go to parties and on dates with her guys. She’s completely accepting of her relationships, and it turns out she had her own harem as a young woman.

Juliet continues to try and solve the mystery of her grandfather’s treasure. She’s also doing her best to make all of her relationships work. Patrick and Smith have accepted Ace as her new boyfriend, but Patrick still struggles with jealousy and neither Ace nor Juliet have completely moved on from the picture incident. The guys try to convince Juliet to give Jax a chance as well, but he’s constantly pushing her buttons. On top of all that Juliet isn’t sure how to handle suddenly becoming the most popular girl in school, and there’s a guy who keeps harassing her at parties.

It’s a little weird how these books sometimes seem to drag considering how short they are, and how much is going on in the characters’ lives. I think it’s in part that each one covers at least a three to four month period. Also, we keep jumping from storyline to storyline with no clear direction. The murder that popped up out of nowhere in the first book and then the equally sudden arrest in the second one were kind of outrageous events. The plotlines here seem a little more personal and realistic as Juliet struggles with her aunt’s illness and a guy who won’t take no for an answer. I was a little more invested as a result.

I feel like we finally see some character development from Juliet in this one. A part of her will always be the girl from Nikon Park, but she’s forced to step up and claim her place in society to protect her relationships, her fellow classmates, and her future as the Lexington heir. The changes are subtle and not out of character. She’s been through some tough times and it’s forced her to think about what’s important.

I wish the guys had received the same development. Or really I wish Jax would have grown up a little. He’s not humiliating her in public, but the way he talks to her is still horrible. He behaves like a little kid throwing a temper tantrum throughout most of the book. I’m not sure if the storyline with Kareem was included to try to make Jax seem like a good guy in comparison, but it didn’t really work for me. Yes, Jax stops when Juliet tells him too though I always found myself doubting he really would. He often acts like she owes him something which is disgusting.

On the plus side I have forgiven Ace for the most part. I think it’s because taking the pictures was so out of character for him. I get the explanation that the abuse made him behave in ways he wouldn’t have normally, but in my head he did it because the author made him do it.

I think one of the best parts of this book was the relationship between Pearl and Juliet. It’s always been a bit unusual since Pearl isn’t exactly warm and cuddly, but I loved her outrageous attitude in this one. It was really tough watching her health deteriorate. At least we had the relationships with the guys to balance things out. It was nice to see them start to come together as a group to support each other and Juliet.

I’ve already read the last book so I can tell you that it doesn’t replace this one as my favorite in the series. I appreciated that the primary focus here was on building relationships, and that the storyline was much easier to understand and follow.

Savages is the third book in Pawns of Patience series. I liked book #3 to be honest, it was probably my favorite of the four. Her relationship with dying aunt Pearl has grown, the way they cared for each other even with all the time they've been apart, and the guys being there for her was cute and they finally started showing they cared about Juliet for real. Longtime friend-crush Jake finally came back to shake things up, and her relationship with the other guys finally reaches another level. I know a lot of people have things to say about Jax being the first guy to be intimate in that way, but honestly in my opinion it had to be him, I don't think any of the other would've felt right at that particular moment in her life. Jax has a lot to prove and don't get me wrong, I don't condone any of the shit he pulled, but this was crucial to develop his character further, not to mention Juliet's. Smith little preference ended up feeling a bit weird, but mostly because he doesn't talk about that at all and is just like "I don't want to have sex unless Jax is there" as opposed to him liking threesomes. I fully support group scenes and if you read my other reviews you'll know I always say that I wish more RH had them, but Smith is just so secretive and plain weird about it not to mention Juliet is very alarmed by it that I literally ended up feeling weird myself reading about it. If it wasn't for Jax smoothing things over, I honestly would've felt like "bro, wth" and not in a good way.

Overall, 4/5 stars.

Pawns of Patience is a completed 4 book series. It’s a slow-burn bully to lovers RH with loads of mystery.

The characters are developed through all four books. Our leading lady, Juliet, has a legacy to uphold but coming from nothing and nowhere (losing everything she knew) has been a difficult journey but she needs to be strong for whats to come eventually. Like a real person though Juliet has her flaws and she continues to be a martyr which annoyed me sometimes, I really would of liked to see her lash out sometimes but for obvious reason would have changed the dynamics.
Her live interests start off shaker and I like the fact that you can see each of them working through issues, their relationship isn’t perfect, each of them have made mistakes and it’s all of them as a unit to work things out. There is no insta-love but you can count on a HEA at the end of book 4.

The storyline is quite well thought out, the mystery surrounding Hollis’ treasure is only a piece of the mystery there are so many other plot twists that encouraged me to continue to read. (It was hard to put the books down I really like a treasure hunt!)

The only downside of the books and why I couldn’t give a 5-star rating was the grammar errors through each of the books.

Ehh it was okay.

Juliet is really getting on my nerves. She wants the guys to treat her with respect and courtesy, but as soon as they say they need time to become comfortable sharing stuff with her, she gets upset. Like. Can you not be such a hypocrite for a second please? And whenever Patrick understandably does a jealous gesture like stiffen or glare, Juliet will chastise him and make him seem like it's all his fault, when she could just, i don't know, TRY TO MAKE HIM FEEL BETTER? It's his first time having to SHARE his FRICKIN SIGNIFICANT OTHER with MULTIPLE GUYS. I think a little jealousy is in order? So why does this bitch want to throw it in his face instead of trying to see things from his perspective and show how other partners doesn't lessen her feelings for him? She's just quite hard to like sometimes ugh.

I honestly feel like this book series could just be MF because Jax is the only character that we get the best relationship development with. The other guys pale in comparison in terms of how many pages are spent developing them and their relationships with Juliet.

And I really don't get how she can just sleep in the same bed as some other guy (who her boyfriends KNOW she used to have feelings for) and be all surprised when the guys act upset.

I’m seriously crabby after reading book 3! What the heck was Juliet thinking!?? I’m so disappointed. Luckily, I’m able to put my grumpiness aside to finish the series. I’ll cross my fingers that the 4th book will bring me back to the happy side.

Ok SPOILERS PEOPLE!! Normally I don’t post them in reviews because it shouldn’t wreck the book for someone, but quit reading now if you haven’t read the book yet!!! I mean it! STOP!!

Jax? Really?? He’s the first one she sleeps with? He wasn’t even part of the harem yet. Don’t get me wrong, I want him in the group, but he hasn’t even apologized for the stuff he did. This absolutely felt like cheating.

A threesome is the only way Smith will have sex with her? He won’t try one on one at all? He doesn’t find her sexually attractive without Jax and that’s just ok? I’m fine with group sex, m/m, f/f, whatever. But this ultimatum? This is too much for me. Literally skimmed over their sex scene and continued with the rest of the book. Grumpily, I might add.

HOLY FREAKIN MOLY!

First, I just HAVE to say I CAN'T BELIEVE JULIET FORGAVE JAX SO FAST!!! Ok now that I got that off my chest. Lol. I don't know how she's managing to juggle 4 guys but I guess if they're all ok with it then I say HELL YES!! At times the suspense had me holding my breath and t times I was crying so hard. Pearl starts out as this uppity old bitty but I have to say I think she redeems herself. You can almost see her love for Juliet growing. When she mentions Pearls request about the wedding dress it was both so heartbreaking yet heartwarming just the same and made me laugh out loud. When all the guys rally around Juliet at the end I think I fall in love with them even more. Oh and the scene between Smith, Juliet and Jax was so HOLY MOTHER OF HOTNESS! I HIGHLY recommend this series to everyone. And the cliffhanger at the end had me jumping out of my chair screaming ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!!

Omg.. Book 3. Cassie writes books that give you all the feels.. and it keeps you reading!! This whole series has been page turners for me. I am so into it, that I found myself shirking all my responsibilities so that I could just read instead. Juliet is probably one of my favorite FMC ever. I love the mystery of the treasure, the different personalities of the guys. I love that she didnt make this Harem seem all like sunshine and rainbows. It shows them all getting used to it, accepting it. Because, let's face it.. a "normal" relationship is a lot of compromise.. so imagine having 4 dreamy guys **sigh**
I really cant wait for Book 4 to come out.

Amazing and addicting

This series is a fantastic read. The story gets better with each book and this one fully delivers on everything - the drama, suspense, teenage angst, passion, misunderstandings, steamy scenes and love. The only thing that seems to be missing is the betrayal - though we had plenty of that in the previous books so maybe I shouldn't be concerned for the next book. Right? Are they really there for her or is it a play for the payoff of the mysterious treasure. I thought I had figured it out but now the author has me wondering. I'm so looking forward to reading the next book. Recommend

Intense

I was not expecting this book to be as emotionally intense as it was. Though things are starting to work out and secrets are revealed. The relationships all have things they have to work on and many come to a head which made it emotionally stressful. Jax starts to unthaw some but still has some rough edges. If he would just talk it would help solve a lot of the problems. I think Juliet finally starts to trust herself and her relationships deepen because of that. Jake is back... so what will that mean for the group? Things heat up with a couple of the guys. And it ends on making a statement about the treasure. Ready for the final book.

Wow, I thought that the first 2 books in this series were amazing, this one out does them. It moves along at a great pace. It is not too fast or too slow, but the comfortable pace that you can enjoy the book. The writing is amazing. You cannot help but love reading this book.

The characters are awesome, you feel as though you know them personally. They are family, and you want to see them succeed, no matter what the cost is. This book will keep you on the edge of your seat till the very end.

This book needs to be on your list of books for 2019, it must be read.

I’m not trying to be mean

I just wish the author really put these four books into either a duet or just had one book.

This definitely didn’t need to be spread out between four different books and then have a cliffhanger for every single book so far.

As of right now I’m just here to figure out what the trailer is I don’t even care about the couples anymore.

And that’s a shame because you’re supposed to care about the romance between your heroine and heroes but since this is so dragged out I’m just over it.

What I like about this series is that it really gives a glimpse at what it's like to be in multiple relationships. Well, what I assume it's like because I do not have a harem of my own. But, this book series allows for each of the relationships to grow at it's own pace. It's been tough with the slow build-- but I think that helps with the overall story.
I am very interested to see what this treasure is all about. I have a few ideas, so we'll see if I'm right.

Give me the treasure already

Let’s drag out a story into 4 books...

Ok I’m sorry, but it’s really dragging and Juliet is just becoming more annoying as time goes. Seems like she’s constantly getting upset with the boys but heck sometimes they have the right to be upset with her. Maybe they’re all just too immature for a harem arrangement.
Anyways, going to skim the 4th to finally get answers to this treasure

About time ....

I was beginning to think this story was dry. No sex, just kissing.
Juliet needs to man up. She owns everything now. This timid sweet girl act needs to go.
There is one sec scene in here, and it's so so. With a harem of hot men, there needs to be more with every guy. Hot heavy and explosive.

I gave 4 stars because the story line is decent, but so much is missing

Really enjoyed this book!

Things are heating up in Juliet’s world, with four guys in her life, and sparks fly everywhere. Poor Aunt Pearl! All the secrets coming to light keep things in Patience on a roller coaster of emotion and intrigue. Sad I have to wait a month to find out if they discover Hollis’ treasure!

Better than the second! *spoilers*

Skip the second book entirely; it’s clearly filler. This one had another good ending (like the first) so 3-Stars from me.

FMC is still dumb, but you get a tiny bit of sexy time - though it’s so PG it’s weird; even the ménage. The author maybe needs a bit more life experience (IMO) since the sexy times are so boring.
