I’ve been a fan of the Gansett Island series from the beginning so these episodes are a great trip back to a beloved place. Needless to say, I was very excited to catch up with all the family and friends on the island. And I was excited to see where things went for this couple, as well. And Marie Force did not disappoint!
This is a novella so it’s an easy, quick, entertaining read. But, as with all the books about the island’s beloved inhabitants, there’s also a lot of drama packed into a short story. It can be read as a standalone book, but if you read the series, you get much more insight into ALL the characters, including Kevin & Chelsea. In this book, Kevin & Chelsea are working through some pretty big challenges, most notably a 16 year age difference, and Kevin’s marital status. These bring some unique challenges their way. But with friends and family like they have on Gansett Island, they have all the support they need to figure it all out.
If I say much more, there are going to be big spoilers and I hate spoilers so I’ll close with my rating: I give it a solid 4.5 stars. Mrs. Force’s writing is always a delight to read. Her characters feel like friends and you feel like you’re a part of this beautiful island. The only reason I’m not giving this a 5-star rating is because it’s not the story that sticks with me like some of the others. Don’t get me wrong… it’s a great story! But there have been a couple other books in this series that stuck with me much longer than this one. If you love a series that keeps going and gives you more and more of your favorite characters, be sure to read from the beginning. You won’t be disappointed!
