A fabulous book for all children but especially those with siblings on the autism spectrum.
ADD THIS BOOK TO YOUR CHILD'S/STUDENT'S SUMMER READING LIST!
Amy McCoy does it again with the next book in the Little Big Sister series.
Katie and her brother Mikey have moved house, which is hard for a kid at the best of times, but when your brother has autism you have a whole new neighborhood that needs to get to know your brother and his 'odd' ways- saying everything three times, flapping, making noises etc.
Amy takes us gently through Katie's embarrassment at some of the situations Mikey gets into, whilst simultaneously showing us a girl who is determined to help raise awareness for autism in her new community.
Fans of the first book will be pleased with the reappearance of some old friends and still enjoy all the new people Katie and Mikey meet. Little Big Sister on the Move is set with the backdrop of the summer vacation period, which makes this a timely release.
I recommend it to all those looking for a teaching and supportive read for their kids. Thank you to Amy McCoy for her books that let siblings know they are not alone and gives them a voice in their schools and communities.
